After eating here, I can confidently say this is one of the top restaurants in Tokyo. Food 🍖: 9/10⭐ This place had the best raw meat I've ever tasted! Not only was the texture near perfect, but the seasoning complimented the meat very well. The salad we had here was also very great. The dressing was perfect and the leaves had a great texture. The same can be said for everything but the shaved ice. The shaved ice had way too much flavour. If it had less flavouring, I would've been able to enjoy it more. Service 💬: 9.5/10⭐ Our waitress was happy to help whenever we had questions about the food. Atmosphere 🏢: 8/10⭐ The atmosphere was good. They did a bit of decorating. Not the amount that would wow you. If you're willing to spend the 100000+ yen, I would suggest you go here!

Beef lovers rejoice, this place was a celebration of the entire cow and man do they do a fantastic job. The folks working were very polite about my very broken Japanese and the staff knows very good English. Service is impeccable, food is even better. I can see why this clocked the top of the charts on Tabelog, it is really great. The skirt steak equivalent cut was my favorite, the tenderloin being my second favorite. We did the "Basic but highly satisfying course" which clocked at just over $115 with drinks. Honestly a complete steal compared to what you can get in the US at this price.

We were still a little full from our lunch so we opted out for the standard meal set - thinking we’d tap out midway. In the end, the cuts were SO DELICIOUS that our stomachs made more room hahaha! Our waiter Yuko was very sweet and knowledgeable about the cuts of meat, she cooked every piece to perfection. We will for sure be coming back for the amazing food and service! 5 stars!

Google
Upscale place for yakiniku with a tasting menu. I booked with tabelog after searching for some higher rated yakiniku restaurants in Tokyo close to Shinjuku. There was a heavy emphasis on the quality of the ingredients. The problem with that was that a lot of the meat was served raw or very rare as they cook in front of you. It was very good quality meat, but I was hoping that it would have something more going for it. The Sukiyaki truffle dish at the end was delicious, but lacking in truffle flavor despite how much truffle was shaved into it. Personally, I would probably go to an a la carte or AYCE yakiniku place in the future, but overall it was a fun experience.

Definitely the best meal I had in Japan. Food quality, taste, service all impeccable. The hype was worth it. Definitely give it a try 💯💯💯

If you’re looking for the ultimate wagyu yakiniku experience in Tokyo, this is it. Tucked away in the basement of a quiet Minami-Aoyama building, Yoroniku 南青山 isn’t just dinner—it’s a masterclass in beef, fire, and restraint. ⸻ 🍽️ What We Ordered: We had the standard course (¥12,000–13,000)—and honestly, it was more luxurious than most places’ “premium” options. Highlights: 🥩 Beef Sashimi & Tartare – Silky raw wagyu, ultra-fresh and clean. 👅 Thick & Thin Tongue – Grilled to perfection; springy, smoky, full of texture. 🔥 Skirt Steak, Tender Loin, Outside Flank – Fatty in all the right ways, charcoal‑kissed. 🍲 Chateaubriand Sukiyaki Style – The crown jewel. Sweet soy glaze, almost too tender to believe. 🍜 Cold Somen Noodles – Subtle and clean, perfect reset. 🍧 Shaved Ice (Kakigori) – Massive, airy, lightly sweet. We had the milk and the matcha-gold. Both were unreal. ⸻ 🧯 What Makes It Special: ✅ Cooked in front of you by pros—timing, temperature, everything handled. ✅ Every bite is choreographed to build in intensity and richness. ✅ Understated, almost hidden space—no gimmicks, just technique. ✅ True hospitality: warm, efficient, never rushed. ⸻ 📍 Location: Yoroniku Minami-Aoyama (よろにく 南青山) 〒107-0062 Tokyo, Minato City, Minamiaoyama 6-6-22 Luna Rossa B1 📅 Reservation is a must (book via TableCheck or Omakase) 💳 Expect to spend around ¥13,000–15,000 per person 👥 Best enjoyed in pairs or small groups 🍷 Drink menu is solid – try the yuzu sake or a highball ⸻ 📸 Must-Take Photos: ✔️ Wagyu sukiyaki with raw yolk ✔️ Shaved ice with gold leaf ✔️ Beef tongue on the grill ✔️ Raw beef dishes artfully plated ⸻ ⭐ Final Verdict: Yoroniku is the gold standard for wagyu yakiniku in Tokyo. If you love beef—or just want to see what real Japanese charcoal grilling looks like—this is the place. Understated, world-class, and worth every yen. 📌 Add to your Tokyo food map now. You’ll regret missing this one. #Yoroniku #TokyoYakiniku #WagyuHeaven #MinamiAoyamaEats #TokyoFoodie #JapaneseBBQ #HiddenGemTokyo #ShavedIceTokyo #KakigoriLovers #MeatMasterclass

Google
One of the best yakiniku I've had in Japan. The service is great, the staff is very friendly and fluent in English. The beef is super tender and very well cooked by the staff.

Google
The best Yakiniku experience, period. I opted for the full-course menu, which featured top tier dishes like Wagyu Caviar Sushi, Chateaubriand Katsu Sandwich, and Truffle Sukiyaki, all absolute must tries. The grilled meats were expertly cooked tableside by our waitress, with each cut prepared differently to highlight the beef’s flavors and textures at their best. To finish, a massive serving of shaved ice provided the perfect, refreshing end to an impeccable meal.

Yelp
Came with a Tabelog reservation for a party for 2 and this place did not disappoint. Didn't know about the one drink minimum per person until we got there, but can include nonalcoholic drinks. Got the standard prix fixe menu. Honestly everything was delicious. You could tell the meat was good quality and the staff cooked it perfectly. Loved the diagram explaining what type of meat it was, and the staff took the time to let us know what meats to pair sauces with or what to eat by themselves. They did check with us beforehand that we would eat heart, tongue, that was included in the standard set. Some favorites of mine included the sashimi, outside skirt, "today's lean meat", and sirloin. Also loved that there was dessert in the end: got to choose between milk or hojicha flavors for shaved ice. We chose the hojicha and it was perfect with its strong flavor and it wasn't too sweet. Service was attentive, and ambience was really nice. Grateful that staff explained things in English. It's on the pricier side but definitely an unforgettable experience, and perhaps my favorite food experience while visiting Tokyo.

Yelp
We made a reservation on Tablelog for the very popular Yoroniku. Though we knew we would be eating great most of our Japan trip, wanted to have a nicer dinner one night and lande don Yoroniku. We went with the Truffle Sukiyaki and Katsu Sandwich Omakase course which included: Appetizers: Kimchi Platter, Namul Platter Cold Dishes: Today's Beef Sashimi, Grilled Tenderloin, Yukhoe Fresh Vegetables: Today's Salad Grilled with Salt: Grilled Tongue, Tongue with Seaweed Grilled with Sauce: Selected Lean Meat, Tsuchinoko Grilled with Salt: Selected Harami Soup: Beef Tripe Soup Sushi: Caviar Sushi Rare Cuts Grilled: Silk Roast Rare Cuts Grilled: Selected Sirloin Special: Chateaubriand Rosé Katsu Sandwich Zabuton Sukiyaki with Truffle Noodles: Awa Hand-Pulled Somen Dessert: Two Types of Shaved Ice There was also a one drink minimum, which I find sort of odd, for a higher ticket meal, but they will let you select tea, or in our case we shared a bottle of sake between a few of us. Overall the meal was really great. The meat was so tender and literally melted in your mouth. It was definitely of the highest quality and some of the best meat we had on our entire trip. I chose this menu because the Chateaubriand Rosé Katsu Sandwich looked OUT of this world, it was delicious, but by time we got to it we felt like we had been eating forever and were running out ot space. I think the pre fixe menu below this would be a better value and hit the mark similarly. The space is very vibey and we enjoyed just about everything we tried. The caviar sushi was out of this world. The lean cuts and silk roast for chefs kiss and overall it was a really great meal. But desert definitely left something to be desired and ocnsidering its the LAST part of the experience, it would have been nice to had something a bit more elevated. I assume they choose shaved ice since you've eaten about 15 courses of meat, but the Hojicha tea flavor did not hit the mark, nor look appetizing. The other fruit based one was better, but still just give me some matcha ice cream! I am glad we went, I am not sure if I would return, but still a great meal and seems to get resounding great reviews and feedback, so glad we were able to check it out and get a reservation (which were quite limited).

Yelp
My friend who lives in Japan made reservations and took me and my fiance here. During my stay in Tokyo, we ate at a Michelin star restaurant (Est in Four Seasons) and some other amazing restaurants. However, this place was the most impactful in regards to memorable food. Even though it revolves around meat, they give you a diverse range of meats to ensure you don't get palate fatigue and you get a dynamic and amazing experience from start to finish.

Yelp
So much food!! From beef tartar to beef sashimi to grilled beef and Kobe sandwiches, you get to try it all. The staff are extremely friendly and well versed in English, and they cook everything for you to enjoy. However the service felt rushed and one of my meats was not cooked long enough as the center was still cold. I would still recommend the experience though.

Yelp
My partner and I just came back from a two and a half week trip from Japan. This yakiniku establishment was something we stumbled upon and reserved on table log for its reviews and rating. The overall experience was fantastic we had many courses of high quality meat from sushi, grilled, sukiyaki, and even in a sandwich all of which did not disappoint. The service was top notch as the workers knew how to cook and season the meat to perfection. Whether you can speak Japanese or just English they can communicate with you no problem. I highly recommend coming here and indulging in some of the best quality meat you may ever have in Japan!!

Yelp
I made reservations via Tablecheck online almost 2 months prior. There is 1 drink minimum per person and restaurant do not recommend bringing kids under 12. Our prix fixed menu included the following: Assorted kimchis & Namuls Rare beef dish: Sashimi Beef tartare 3rd stomach Salad with salt dressing Salt based beef: Loin Thick sliced tongue Outside skirt Sauce based beef: Lean meat of the day Tsuchinoko Japanese clear soup Rare parts: Chateaubriand Silky beef Special parts: Sirloin Zabuton "sukiyaki" style Awa's noodle Matcha and milk shaved ice Our bbq beef was cooked for us and we were instructed how to eat each item. Everything was delicious and just melted in my mouth. The beef tartare was heavenly. The noodles at the end was simple and refreshing. We got the matcha and milk shaved ice. It wasn't too sweet and balance. I added a little milk and bean to the matcha for enhanced flavor. It was a decadent meal, but a little rich.

Yelp
This is my second time here after five years? It is just as great as I remembered it to be. I recommend not getting the set and just order A la carte on the meats and rice/noodles. We did this last time as well because we didn't want to eat many items off the set. It is totally acceptable and just also giving you a heads up that they will give you a small appetizer and it is not free. Usually about 500-600 yen. if you ordet ala carte, they will not cook it for you but i prefer that! Onto the meats, I highly recommend ordering the thick cut beef tongue and zabuton. These are probably my favorites. The meats on the separate paper menu are the better and of course more expensive ones. I also loved the misuji, it is thinly cut. To fill your stomachs, I recommend getting a bibimba to share. The yokhoe (?) one is the beef tartare one. Yoroniku is definitely not the cheap spot, we alsp ordered the ro-su and karubi and mino (intestine) plus one big rice. It netted out to about 17000 yen for the two of us so better worth in my opinion than the sets.

Yelp
Been here years ago and still the only place I would keep dreaming about. Amazingly delicious

Yelp
I took my boyfriend here to try after hearing such great reviews about it. We love meat and Japan has some of the best quality options! We got the yoroniku set for 10,000 yen. As much as it hurt my wallet, it was a great first time experience for us. The set comes with 10 courses including dessert. You are served some korean-style veggies like kimchi, cucumbers, bean sprouts, etc. And then a cold sashimi dish with beef sashimi, beef intestine, and beef tartare. You also get salad, soup, and then a bunch of great parts of meat. The meat served was delicious. We opted out of eating the heart, so they served us some other part instead. It was so soft and marbled and honestly one of the best cuts I've ever eaten. The waitress explains each meat that they serve you as they bring it out and they cook it for you at the table. My favorite was the chateaubriand. It just melted in your mouth. They also have some japanese cuts of meat like "katasankaku" or "tsuchinoko" which were part of the sauce based meats. I enjoyed the whole course. It was definitely a unique experience! You end the meal with some noodles and then dessert! Although its a bit pricey, I thought the quality of food served was very great. For a meal though, it was a bit on the small side and we were a little hungry afterward. The atmosphere is very comfy and great for couples or for parties. We saw a bunch of co-workers ordering up a storm across from us. If I had the budget, I'd go for the more expensive courses that offer truffle topped meat or the beef sandwich. But we decided to keep it at the simple 10,000 yen choice. If you are a meat lover, you must try this place at least once while in Tokyo!

Yelp
Amazing - probably the best or one of the best yakiniku restaurants I've had in Japan. Must make reservation beforehand! I would recommend getting their highest value set so that you can experience all the best cuts of meat. This omakase of beef leaves you full and wanting more because of how delicious and melt in your mouth the beef is. They do a really good job of not overwhelming you with too much of each cut. And they prepare the beef in so many ways, from sashimi style to grilled after marinated in a Japanese bbq sauce. PRO TIP: They have a beef katsu sandwich that needs to be preordered! When you make the reservation make sure you ask for them to reserve a sandwich for you too.

Yelp
It's good... though a bit stuffy. I think some of the other Yakinikus are more fun. I'd probably give it a 4. Meat is good but definitely not the best. Great service though.
google avatar

Yelp
Probably one of the best bites of beef you'll have in your life. It's an elegant Japanese BBQ joint. The set menu at ~$90 USD was very filling and had a nice arrange of meat and vegetables. All the beef is super well marbelized even for not being Kobe beef though it's all from Japan. They cook the beef for you and explain what part of the cow it comes from. The wait staff is very English friendly and very great with service. It is a bit hidden in an alley and underground but if you can get a reservation and find it, it's worth it.

Yelp
Yoroniku is absolutely amazing; the quality of beef, service, atmosphere, cost/benefit -- It's just awesome. I've been here so many times and am not tired of it at all! Hope I come across another Yakiniku place as good as Yoroniku somwhere else...haven't been successful so far. They have two course dishes but I'd suggest you just go with the higher option, especially if it's your first time here. They serve you the best selection of the dishes through the course and you'll surely be content. There's a branch place called "Namaiki" located in Akihabara, which is like 80% of this place (price/quality). I'd say it'd be a good alternative when you can't make a reservation for Yoroniku.

Yelp
Super great yakiniku place. Pricy but it deserves. The unique thing here is that they have a lot of variety. Misuji, nikumaki or so many menus I've never heard of. Evertime I visit here , I tried new things and I am amazed. Also the server told me how to eat like roll w rice and lettuce etc. it's over the ordinal ly yakiniku place. Niku amusement park! I defo recommend for your special occasion.

Yelp
Too saucy and can't taste the real original beef . And the wine doesn't that match at all .
google avatar

Annie C.

Yelp
Yoroniku really, really knows what they're doing. How can I look at beef the same way ever again, like seriously? Firstly, the restaurant itself is a bit hidden. It's located in a basement of an alleyway without any type of English signage so double check with the location and look for pictures of the entrance if you're really unsure. For first timers, I highly recommend splurging on the Yoroniku tasting course (¥9000) which makes ordering a breeze. It includes appetizers (assortive kimchi), soup & salad, 12 different cuts of premium-quality meat (pretty much a tour through the cow), a house-specialty noodle, and a choice of dessert. The moment the meats are brought out, it's literally a feast to the eyes since they're all so beautifully marbleized. The waiter will provide you with some basic knowledge on the different cuts as you go, the proper way it should be cooked and eaten, as well as the best condiments it should be combined with to enhance the flavors of the beef. You don't even have to fret upon cooking yourself since they will grill it to perfection table-side. You're pretty much just sitting back and savoring every single bite. Everything was simply divine but the pinnacle was the definitely the Zabuton sukiyaki-style beef. HOLY COWWW! The quality of all the meats were all superb but when dipped in a raw egg right before eating... heavenly is truly an understatement. The desserts were excellent as well. I finished off the meal with an incredibly rich black sesame shaved ice. Thumbs up all around, I had a subliminal yakiniku dining experience here from the beginning to end. Believe me, it's THAT good and it's definitely THE place to go to for yakiniku when in Tokyo. Be sure to make reservations well in advance.

Yelp
This place is hands down my favorite yakiniku restaurant in the entire planet. Yes, it is pricey with 9000 yen set menu but oh god it was so amazing. I have been here twice and would definitely come back the next I have a chance in Tokyo! The servers know what they are doing and they will explain about each meat you are getting (more or less -- the first time we get a lady that was fluent in English so we learnt a lot more, the second time she just kind of told us which part of the beef each one is from). Each part is cooked differently and is eaten with different dressing (like sauce, or salt, or lemon etc.) as they will let you know. I don't know much about wine so I can't really put my input but my brothers and dad weren't upset with the list. I personally loved the sour plum umeshu (sour plum flavor, i believe is called "akai"). I also tried their sour cocktail, don't remember exactly which citrus it was but I thinkkkk it was sudachi... remembered googling it and it was green like lime, but Japanese lol. The dessert was also really great. We had green tea flavor shaved ice. Very refreshing and perfectly matched with a hot yakiniku before hand.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in the world. It's hard to beat this beef experience. Definitely get a reservation and if you don't speak Japanese just ask for the course menu you cannot go wrong.

Yelp
Superb dining experience. Food was amazing and fairly reasonably priced, waitress was very helpful as well. Tables hard to come by so reserve at least a week or two in advance
