Yoshi

"Monte-Carlo is famous for its casino, its prince, its clay tennis courts and its gastronomy! The restaurant at the Hotel Métropole pays tribute to Japanese cuisine with premium ingredients and flawless technique. Aromatic soups, sushi and maki are created with a focus on “yoshi” (kindness) by chef Takeo Yamazaki, whose cuisine – more fusion in style than authentically Japanese – has adapted to suit his international guests. It nonetheless remains precise, refined and assertive, as evidenced by the excellent “ghindara no saiko yaki” (fillet of black cod marinated in boiled saki and wrapped in a Japanese magnolia leaf). A real enticement to visit the land of the Rising Sun!" - Michelin Inspector

Where to Eat, Stay, and Play in Monaco

"In addition to YOSHI, the only Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant on the Riviera, Metropole debuted one of the most anticipated openings in the principality this summer."

Everything was amazing from start to finish. Incredible service and a very polite, professional team who truly know what they’re doing. The sushi, sashimi, and rolls were exceptionally fresh — everything was prepared to order, right in front of us. A wonderful experience overall

It was far from the true taste of Japan. I even asked the waiter if the chef was Japanese — he wasn’t, he was Italian. The oyster came plain, without any seasoning or Japanese vinegar, just a few tasteless flowers for decoration. When I asked for a sauce, it took 20 minutes to receive a simple French-style vinegar. The sashimi platter was disappointing — the three slices of fish were stuck together, with no offset to show they were separate pieces, making them look like a single cube. The Wagyu beef itself was of good quality, but again, there was no charcoal grilling, no authentic Japanese flavor. I keep the best for the end , for such a classy restaurant you will only be offered wooden disposable chopsticks , with an unusable shape even for expert like my wife is .. They are made of unpolished wood , rectangle instead of round and stays open at the end even when you squeeze them In Asia, you can find much better for a third of the price. It was such a disappointment — and honestly sad — to realize that after so many years living in Asia, I can’t seem to find proper Japanese food anywhere around Nice.

4.5/5. First experience after the refurbishing of the restaurant and the loss of the Michelin star. They are clearly trying to win it back and they might will in 2026. One thing is sure, they kept the price of a Michelin star restaurant (which I believe is a mistake but it's Monaco so most owners don't care about that). 550€ for 2, à la carte choices and 1/2 bottle of sake. Service was professional with a smile and not too intrusive. Presentation is nice and quality of the preparations and ingredients is up there. It lacks a little originality, something that makes the meal stand out. They already have a 2 Michelin stars within the walls... I would lower the prices, making it more affordable, not chase the Michelin with a more easy-going service... Monaco lacks relaxed restaurants and the Metropole offers it very well in summer with Zia which is one of my favorites because it's sophisticated and relaxed, yes it's not cheap but not "chasing the star" expensive too. I would recommend Yoshi and will return.

Food was good but not star experience, the staff seemed to have some tension, and the kitchen/prep area was quite messy (we sat at the bar so we saw everything). Its probably the best Japanese in Monaco, but not one star worthy. Overpriced for “normal”, but market price for Monaco 😅 (just trying to set expectations)

Solid 5 Stars! We had a wonderful experience and so many different traditional Japanese dishes, served by the chef on the chef table which I highly recommend sitting. You have a tremendous experience. I‘d definitely go back. Service super cute, with a pinch of humor and you could feel and see they have fun! The chef is just wow! Big big yes ❤️

Amazing food and impeccable service. An expensive meal but an enjoyable experience. The quality of the food was only of the best, you can tell be the look, colour and taste of everything we had. Must visit in Monaco.

Went for my birthday to have dinner and it was a really nice experience. The place is so well decorated, and the service is exceptional. We tried a sushi plate and some desserts and everything was good. A little bit expensive, but you are in Monaco so these prices are quite normal.
