YOSHI im Alsterhaus – Hamburg - a MICHELIN Guide Restaurant

"On the fourth floor of this renowned department store you will find this rallying point for fans of Japanese culinary culture. Japanese chefs seamlessly weave together tradition and modernity here, as in their kamo nabe (duck hotpot), blue crab tempura with matcha salt, or sushi. Popular roof terrace." - Michelin Inspector

Very very good choice. Super food / flavors. Super service. Very friendly staff. I only noticed one negative thing that made me wonder if the staff are being paid properly or rather satisfactorily. In such an expensive restaurant the staff uniform should cover not only their clothing but also their shoes. That's why I give you 4 stars.

Eat there multiple times but still never disappointed!! One of the few Japanese restaurants from all over Germany that I could actually eat raw fish. Their Menu is quite fun to experience but Kobe-Beef is not really worth the money. Would recommend to go there for lunch menu.

Came without reservation. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Service was excellent - very attentive and friendly. Sushi was delicious and authentic. Kirin beer on tab - hard to find. Little on the expensive side, but worth it. Hey, 5x year Michelin Guide restaurant. Decoration could be a little nicer, though. Will be back!

A bit pricy but it deserves. Very fancy presentation shows how the chief is treating his guests. The aperitif is innovative and good: plump wine mixed with sparkling water. 5 courses menu is a lot for one person but you can take away if you do not want to waste the delicious food. The view is the best and the environment is calm and relaxed. Highly recommended.

It's on the 4th floor of Alsterhaus. One of the best sushi restaurants in Hamburg. Authentic Japanese cuisine, highly recommended. Reasonably priced.

We actually planned to eat at the billy burger right next to it but it was so crowded so we decided to eat at yoshi sushi place. We have heard it before it is quite expensive but it should be a real sushi place to eat. We ordered the lunch menu, bento and sushi maki roll set. Service was nice but very slow. Food took about 20 minutes or more to come.. bento was all very nice but it's really not soooo much for this price. I guess it's like elegant eating not making you fell full. Miso soup was yummy not too salty but also not really special. My sushi maki roll set was ok, one roll with cucumber, the other with avocado and one with crab meat stick. I was expecting some fish at least (salmon maybe) for this price.. well overall it's tasty, simple but way too expensive. At the end we pay for lunch special between 30-40 euro per person. I was also kind of surprise Japanese green tea costs 7,8€ but it didn't really taste so different then normal green tea in other Asian restaurant. I think this would only be the place for people who has way too much money to spend for food, oh well the sushi here is at least way better than henssler henssler!! For sushi I was not 100% being convinced that it worth that much money. After lunch I went to the Lindner Bakery across yoshi to get some (big)dessert so my stomach is finally satisfied!

Yelp
Japanese owners and friendly staff with surprisingly slow service atop the Alsterhaus department store. Atmosphere is a touch sterile, perhaps too many bright lights in a sea of unadorned tables, or maybe way too much space for what is at hand, so I wouldn't necessarily bring a date or choose this place for a special occasion yet otherwise all ok. Ordered nothing but sashimi to see what the place was about. And the fish is fine yet not great, though perhaps good enough by German sushi standards? I give the restaurant 3 1/2 stars but as that is not an option I normally would give it 4 but taking the high price into consideration I rank it as 3 for being so-so value for money. Better, and certainly the same, can be found elsewhere for less. Overall, the energy feels low, verging on sad for a restaurant considered a good one, though this could just be me, and note -- the staff is friendly! I don't understand what is happening here nor the high ratings from other reviewers. With a range of other options to eat atop the Alsterhaus I would consider something else in the area unless you are bent on sushi.

Yelp
Excellent sushi, very cool looking restaurant! After a busy day, we went into the department store. The upstairs dining area has some great looking places, and went for Sushi :) The quality of the fish was awesome, and the service was really pleasant :) Impressive looking collection of sake too! A nitpick is that it is rather expensive, even for a sushi place. Worth it though? I'd say so! I can highly recommend the crispy rice, salmon and tuna - sooo good! Protip: skip desert, and head for the patisserie next door :)

Yelp
Disappointing visit.Love Japanese food, but not this. Miso soup was watery and tasteless, Agedashi Tofu lukewarm and swimming in bland sauce, the fish on my Chirashi Sushi so warm, discolored and glassy that I was afraid to eat it as it did not seem fesh. First and last visit and with € 74 without tip too expensive for a substandard lunch without alcoholic beverages, coffee or dessert.

Yelp
Delicious restaurant, nice setting and wonderful sake collection. We found the sign in the main shopping street and didn't get disappointed at all. The grilled cod are special from other Japanese restaurant but it is still delicious. We absolutely love it. The Mocha ice cream is very nice too, don't miss it!

Yelp
Disappointing, never ever again. The service was very bad, rice very dry...the only good thing was the quality of the fish. We wanted to go for a quick lunch and spend more than an hour in this place, the service seemed incapable to serve us in a timely manner, even though the restaurant was half empty.. The differences between the menus could not be explained or wrong information was given to us. I don't recommend it!

Yelp
Convenient location right off the main shopping strip. Very pleasant waitstaff and serene environment. Had the dragon roll and it was fantastic. Freshest avocados on top with a sweet teriyaki glaze drizzled over the roll. Scrumptious!

Yelp
I love yoshi! I went there several times and it is just amazing. The private elevator brings you direct to the restaurant. The salad with wasabi dressing is just so delicious and I was impressed that they brew their own soja sauces!

Yelp
So amazing so delicious!! This place is the highlight of my Hamburg trip. Menu is simple, fish is fresh, and rice is seasoned appropriately. Even the miso soup is fragrant and balanced, unlike the salty ones you typically find in westernized Japanese restaurants. Highly recommended for Japanese food devotees in Hamburg hoping for an authentic experience.
