I visited Yoshida on December 26.
The interior design, overall atmosphere, and the variety and freshness of the fish were all excellent and clearly well thought out.
That said, I felt there was room for improvement in execution and attention to detail, which are essential to an upscale omakase experience. The fish portions were inconsistent in size, and the rice was served overly warm. The brushed soy sauce was applied too heavily, at times overpowering the natural flavor of the fish. I also noticed water from the handwashing sink splashing onto the counter area, which was quite unpleasant.
In addition, the amount of wasabi used was excessive and inconsistent from piece to piece, affecting the overall balance of the sushi.
There were also several spelling errors on the menu, suggesting a lack of refinement in the finer details.
The experience is interesting on a first visit, but without stronger execution and attention to detail, it is unlikely to encourage repeat visits.
