We decided to try this place in south Austin and ordered Eel Dragon Roll, Chicken Teriyaki, Miso Soup, and Salmon Poke Bowl. I was able to get half rice/half salad with the poke bowl. The food is pretty good and the service was good too. As I looked around the interior, my first thought was that it could use some art on the walls.

Atmosphere is cool chill, wait is usually long, had to give 1 star due for on their calamari, it was more like onion rings and a few pieces for the price is unworthy 0/10 for the calamari, ramen and rolls 8.5/10

A cozy and casual restaurant between the Pie Bar and ATI on S Congress avenue off of W Slaughter Ln. Our waitress was an ANGEL. I didn’t get to catch her name, but I’m assuming she may have been the owner. Super friendly and attentive. We ordered Spicy tonkatsu ramen with pork belly chasu. As she checked in with us and refilled our drinks, our waitress offered chili oil because she noted that we had ordered the spicy ramen. The ramen was flavorful and the spice level was perfect for us. As a spice lover we had to try the chili oil which added such a wonderful flavor and another layer to our food. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and would love to come back soon. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am shocked to see any less than perfect reviews of this place. Let me preface this by saying that I have eaten sushi around the country for the last 17 years and I’ve even worked in a sushi restaurant. My boyfriend and I live near Yoshiko and come here no less than once a week. Their pricing is so affordable and yet still such good quality. Every single week we get a spicy tuna and spicy salmon roll for next to nothing in price, but so rich in flavor. This is one of the only places I will happily order to go, as the restaurant is on the smaller side and the food is always so fresh when I get home. I love the miso soup, the shrimp tempura, the fried rice, the lunch and dinner sushi roll specials, the black dragon roll, and the fried angel roll! Attached are some pictures of my usual togo order, spicy tuna, avocado tuna, etc. Their special rolls are fancier and so delicious as well.

I had the tonkatsu ramen with chashu pork. They have the option to where you can pair up your choice of broth and choice of protein, that's pretty cool. It was very filling and I left with a full belly. I didn't notice the bowl was chipped until halfway through the meal, they should probably get rid of it. It was my first time trying sashimi and it was really tasty!

I used to love Yoshiko; it was my go-to restaurant for delicious food and generous portions. However, I've noticed some changes during my recent visits. The serving sizes are noticeably smaller, which is not quite sufficient for one person. Additionally, the service has slowed down, even with plenty of staff present. It seems like there’s a lack of engagement from the waitstaff, as they take your order and then don’t check in afterward. Unfortunately, the prices have also risen, which makes it feel less justified for the reduced portion sizes. I hope they can address these issues, as I would love to see the restaurant return to its former quality.

Yoshiko does ramen and sushi right! It's more of an upscale mom and pop place and caters more to a local hangout atmosphere than the flashy mainstream places Every time I come in, the staff are attentive and friendly. The food is always delicious and it's good for every occasion whether you're stopping in for a bento lunch, date night, or don't feel like cooking dinner. Obviously the main focus is sushi and ramen, but they do offer other traditional Asian dish options. I personally recommend the Spicy Tonkotsu ramen with either pork chashu or chicken. The spicy yellowtail roll is really good as well. Literally anything you order will be good!
