"The menu at this intimate counter kappo gives free rein to the skills and experience the chef acquired as an apprentice. The omakase set meal is a medley of sushi, soba noodles and other Japanese dishes. Graceful soup dishes and decoratively arranged sashimi are served, then steamed seafood sushi, and the meal ends with handmade 100% buckwheat soba. In an intriguing touch, a rolled omelette, created as a sushi artist would, is served as dessert. Culinary variety to entice any diner." - Michelin Inspector

This was an exceptional omakase experience that ticked all the boxes for me, from the delicious an substantial courses, a welcoming and jolly chef and a talented part-timer ^o^ Chef Uemura is clearly passionate about his craft, as he took pains to explain the ingredients and answer our many questions despite the language barrier (shoutout to Friday Girl for her EN-JP translations and unfailing patience)! Each course was also masterfully curated and executed. For example, the eggplant and sea urchin dish (fresh uni from Hokkaido atop a grilled peeled eggplant, drizzled with homeblended soya sauce) was a delight to eat. I would definitely come back again!

My girlfriend and me booked a table at this restaurant weeks ahead, only to be met at the Door telling us the reservation was canceled. Without notice. So we were standing there, disapointed and hungry. One of the guests there felt sorry for us and helped us find another decent restaurant. Anyways, lowest ranking because they are unreliable and didnt seam to care at all. If you have to make a reservation during a stay in Tokyo, dont make it here. If you get canceled too, theres no chance similar restaurants have a free table the same. Evening.

1月に 姉と2人で伺いました。 昨年夏に伺った時は、鱧ずくしでした。 冬は、何を食べさせてくれるか楽しみで伺いました。 冬の味覚をこれでもか! と言うくらい、目一杯いただきました。 どれも、最高の素材を最高の料理法で出して頂きました。 越前蟹、あんきも、ふぐ白子、鯖寿司、テッサ、刺身盛り合わせ(寒ブリあぶり、ヒラメ昆布締め、くじらの尾のみ他)すっぽんスープ、 焼きナス馬糞ウニのせ。 太刀魚からすみ載せ(ほおずき、せりお浸し) 白味噌炊き合わせ(宮崎牛サーロイン、海老芋、聖護院かぶら、白子) 鰻炊き込みご飯、赤だし(とろろこぶ、芽葱) デザート(あずきアイス、いちご、メロンシャインマスカット、みかん、酒粕シャーベット載せ) 以上 お腹パンパンです。 国産鰻ご飯は、 お茶碗に少し盛って頂いて、 今回も残りは、おにぎりにして頂き、お土産になりました。 このお料理で、このお値段は、コスパ良すぎです。 ご主人一人ですべて作って、 優秀な大学生のアルバイトさんだけ雇って、 食材費に惜しみなくつぎ込んています。 とても気さくなご主人で、お料理に対する愛情を感じなが、美味しくて幸せな時間を過ごせます。 美味しい物が大好きな方にお勧めです。 美味しく残すのなんてもったいないので、大食いの人以外は、お昼は、抜いて伺ってくださいね。 次回は、主人と 2月に伺います。 ご馳走様でした。

酒呑みの私は、この店が大好きです。 ご亭主もおそらく酒好きなのでしょう。 器も清潔で綺麗。 京料理をどのように東京で饗すべきか、考え尽くしておられます。 京都では祇園川上によく伺いましたが、「男らしい愛想の良さ」という感じで、雰囲気が似ていると思いました。 いつまでも、今のままでなさってください。

Can't believe myself that the chef Uemura hideout himself in the middle of Tokyo He is the best I ever met and all the dressing is so delicious to go with the food! The cold sake he has suggested to pair with the food also makes everything perfect What a wonderful Japanese food to have!

We had a fantastic meal here in October of last year. All seating is at the counter so you can see Chef Uemura and his assistant work. The food was excellent and came in over a dozen intricate courses. This style of Kappo was very enjoyable and a great change of pace from more typical Kaiseki. I highly recommend this place.

This Michelin starred restaurant is tiny but a gem. Only 8 places at the counter and a single seating every night. Chef Tomojiro Uemura is a master. We had a 12 course meal that will be remembered for a long long time. Uemura-sama's assistant spoke English and was a joy. If you can get a reservation here I highly recommend it!
