We went in to celebrate a birthday. I do love that they’re open on Mondays( Beyond Tf for that) Such a plus. The service was great, loved the staff. It’s one of my family favorite places to go. It was my first time and despite wanting to absolutely love it, The dish I ordered was sub par at best tbh. Salmon and friends just aren’t a great combo in my opinion. I wasn’t completely impressed, I personally had better but the service and atmosphere definitely made up for it. I did however enjoy the other dishes my family ordered. I did enjoy the blueberry lemonade, very yummy drink.

This is fine dining in an open, casual space with a large bar, and second floor seating. Thanks to the kindness, professionalism, and timeliness of Molly, our server, we had one amazing evening of food and drink. My girlfriend loved her mango mojito and my Ketel One vodka martini with blue cheese olives truly satisfied. We began with hearty house salads (spring mix) complet with in-house prepared croutons. I indulged in a healthy plate of oysters Rockefeller to start while my girlfriend had one amazing French onion soup. I got a seafood combo that included perfectly cooked sole along with a delicious lobster tail and shrimp, and the scallops were tender and tasty. I even loved the mixed vegetables. We also had some outrageous asparagus on the side. We cannot wait to relive the experience.

This was a fantastic place! S vice was on point. Seafood was cooked perfectly. Desserts were also good. Cocktails were also great. Would come back!

The food and drinks were 10/10!! We had reservations upstairs for our 11th anniversary and I'm so happy I chose this place! The oysters were so good, I didn't even get a chance to take pictures. We ordered a dozen of the raw oysters and the oysters Rockefeller. Both were fantastic. I ended up getting a filet steak, lobster tail and crab meat. That's what is pictured here. We will definitely be back!

We have been here before and this place always delivers. Food and service always great. Food is delicious and rich. We will be back again when we are around. Highly recommended

Google
Downstairs had better atmosphere than upstairs. Hadn’t been here for a few years and was pleasantly surprised. We ate off the specials menu and everything was delicious. Would come back again after not being there for a few years

Google
We came in during their weekend happy hour and it was amazing. The oysters were so fresh and they had a variety to try. We tried several of their apps and nothing disappointed. My only wish is that they had some better seating in the bar area, that is the only spot for the specials and it’s just high tops which can be uncomfortable for older people that came with us. Drinks were also amazing! I would highly recommend. The bar area is more casual while the dining area is a bit fancier. Perfect place for a nice night out if you are a sea food lover! The happy hour specials are a great value. My husband is already planning our return trip!

Google
Excellent choice a friend of mine chose for a business lunch in the area. The server was super nice and the menu had an outstanding selection. I tried their oysters (from Canada), crab cake, shrimp skewers and scallops. All to die for.

Yelp
this place is TEN FREAKING TASTIC !!!!! service was great, food was great, all of the above was great! inside is a very open space but i bet when it is closer to dinner time the vibes would be amazing! i hope that if someone is looking at reviews right now, they decide to stop by! if i lived around here i'd be here all day everyday! - crab dip is chef's kiss - burrata was goood! little small portion but for an appetizer it is filling - oysters and shrimp are perfect! - cocktail sauce can be tangy but added a lot of flavor! this is a friend of a friend.... AMAZING WE DEVOURED EVERYTHING

Yelp
Stopped in here for happy hour. Totally random not planned. Loved the laid back atmosphere in this neighborhood restaurant. Staff is super friendly. 3 varieties of oysters for happy hour. My date loves Malpeque oysters. She really enjoyed them here. We also tried Goldilocks which were outstanding. Tuna tartare was also really solid. Drinks are kind of pricey. The full dinners coming out also looked really good. Would absolutely dine here again. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Yelp
Took hubs here for his 60th birthday. All the years I lived in Lehigh Valley we never tried it. I am sorry I waited so long. Was a nice better dining with a casual atmosphere restaurant. The food was really good. I can't say enough about the crabcake I had. I grew up southern York County traveling to Maryland for crabs/crabcakes on the Eastern Shore so I have pretty high expectations. This was right up there with those. It was so delicious, full of lump crab meat. I had the surf and turf. My fillet was cooked perfectly very tasty, very tender. The lobster tail was delicious. The crabcake again was amazing. Cheddar mashed potatoes great and the asparagus was very delicious. Nice stalks not thin and limp and they were cooked the perfection. I had a bowl of crab bisque which was very tasty. Hubs had the seafood broil combination with the lobster tail that he upgraded for the bigger tail, shrimp, scallops, and lump crab meat. His meal was excellent. He started with a shrimp cocktail, which was good as well. I took some tiramisu home with me. Was absolutely delicious. Did I mention my espresso martini? - was great! They have a large selection of oysters, clams muscles. All of the servers were very well educated on what they have. You can easily have a conversation with one another. There is a bar area where you can sit at high top tables as well. They do take reservations and I recommend it. The parking is all on street parking so brush up on your parallel parking skills. Price point was what I would expect for a higher end seafood restaurant. Overall, we had a great time and a great meal. Great place for date night, celebration, or just a treat.

Yelp
My friend and I loved the drinks here and the oysters were okay but my friend and I didn't know about the non-happy hour oysters beforehand either. Maybe I just prefer cooked oysters more, which would be the Rockefeller on the happy hour menu. It was a long time since I had raw and it was nice to reminisce. We weren't very hungry so we did not try anything else. Service here is superb. Please note that the happy hour can only be done at the bar- that is the first time I can remember running into something like that but they do state that on their menu clearly.

Yelp
Over every single thing about this place but the highlight is absolutely the crab cakes; they are exceptional. Also loved the coleslaw but if there is any miss it's the fries; they need some elevating. The crab cakes are so delicious that you will not be bothered to even worry about the fries. My husband ordered the crab cake sandwich which is the same as the crab cake entree minus the aioli. I wish we would have tried one of the soups but hope to return before having to leave. What a special delight and hidden gem in a tucked away neighborhood! Music was discreetly playing, the lunch crowd is decidedly older and the dress is casual but don't be mistaken, the food is chef's kiss!

Yelp
Another 5star dinner experience!!!!!! Started off with a mango martini & clams casino. Soooo delicious!!! Followed that with the Seafood Combo . It just gets better!!!!! End with the Blueberry Carrot Cake. Service staff were so helpful and friendly. Quiet dining experience capped off a great evening. Compliments to staff and management. Looking forward to next visit!!!!!!

Yelp
Unfortunately, Youell's was a pretty major swing and a miss for us. I was so excited about the seafood combo platter and upgraded to the Brazilian lobster tail--a major splurge I very rarely do, but it was a special occasion. The lobster came out so tough and with such a strange (almost plasticky burnt) taste to it that it was inedible. I've never had lobster that tasted like that. They serve it with a melted brown butter which sounds good in theory, but it was insanely salty. The shrimp and scallops on the platter were fine, but the lump crab tasted similarly a bit off. I left most everything on the plate. To our server's credit, she offered us a slice of the blueberry carrot cake to go, which was fantastic and which I do recommend. And we did enjoy some of the apps, such as the wedge salad, oysters rockefeller, and shrimp cocktail. Good, not amazing. Service overall was friendly and prompt. Maybe it was an off night, but considering the price to quality ratio we experienced (my entree alone was over $60), I doubt we'll be back.

Yelp
Terrific ambience and service. Love the raw clams and onion soup. Great drinks. Overall very good albeit somewhat pricey. Nevertheless, probably one of the best seafood in the Valley! You'll be glad you did.

Yelp
In hindsight this place was 1 star and I would not recommend it. You are better driving to a location where the fish will be fresher, and cooked better.
google avatar

Maibel R.

Yelp
We got the seafood tower & it was so fresh! The oyster & shrimps were my fav! I don't eat oysters often but these were good & I'm sucker for cocktail shrimp. Pricing is fair. Very chill casual ambiance. Bartender was nice & gave us recommendations for cocktails/let us try some beer.

Yelp
My sisters took me to Youells for dinner for my birthday. I had the Chilean Seabass with sautéed spinach and risotto. It was absolutely delicious. For dessert I had the carrot cake with blueberries, which is their signature dessert. Absolutely fabulous. The service was impeccable. The atmosphere is very comforting and welcoming. I had a great time.

Yelp
Taylor was the best service every! Seat at the bar that's where she works, at the bar. She was fantastic 5 Star's. A real personal.

Yelp
Wow, what a crustacean celebration! We wrangled the whole clan to celebrate the in-laws' 40th, and this place didn't just deliver--it served up an aquatic extravaganza fit for Poseidon himself! To start, the chowders and clams casino were like Neptune's kisses--smooth and tantalizing. Then came the tidal wave of seafood: lobster tails, mussels, scallops, crab legs (break out the tools!), crab cakes, and shrimp every which way (fried and broiled like they were having an identity crisis). The drinks? As lively as a school of tipsy fish. Bourbon smashes hit the spot, pear martinis sparkled like a mermaid's treasure, and the blackberry margarita was a sweet tsunami. The gin and tonics were as crisp as a salty sea breeze, and don't get me started on the fully loaded Bloody Mary--it was more loaded than a sunken pirate ship! The kids weren't left out either--thank Poseidon again for the kids' meals and those glorious bowls of ice cream for dessert. They were happier than seagulls with a stolen french fry. Overall, a voyage worth taking. The service was top notch and our table in the corner was perfect for our crazy crew.

Yelp
Returned to Youell's for more of their wonderful seafood. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere although a little loud. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive, checked on us regularly to make sure we were doing well. I ordered the Scallop special with cheesy risotto and blanched spinach sides. My wife got the lump Crab meat with roasted red potatoes and roasted vegetables for sides. The waiter brought our meals hot out of the kitchen and they were prepared great and tasted delicious. We were very pleased and we'll be back.

Yelp
Very good food and special drinks. We ordered some apps and dinners. Would definitely recommend if you like seafood!

Yelp
Goodness, where do I start in expressing how much I love this restaurant? We love coming here for their oysters and clams for appetizer, and their amazing entree specials. I remember starting off with their seafood fettuccine and the seafood fra diablo before exploring the other dishes. One time our server suggested the Chilean sea bass special that had spinach and risotto and OH MY GOD I was forever changed. Now I almost always try to order from their feature menu that has their risotto and fish because it's just so damn good. Their clam chowder? One of my favorites. Their coconut mojito? Give me 2. For dessert, DO NOT SKIP the blueberry carrot cake! Get it even if you're full, take it home. I don't even like carrot cake! But I LOVE theirs and we get it every time we can

Yelp
I went to dine Saturday evening June 7th. The hostess was pleasant and we were seated promptly. My Wife and I ordered the Seafood combination #2 and the Red Snapper Dinner. The Red Snapper meal with couscous and vegetables lacked flavor and bland. The Seafood combination had very few scallops and shrimp also bland for a almost $50 meal. The Brown Butter was the highlight and needed due to lack of flavor. Hopefully this was a off night.
google avatar

Esin A.

Yelp
Salmon was very good. Salmon came with potatoes and vegetable medley. They use fresh vegetables to make veg medley. Housemade cole slaw was very good. Carrot cake was dessert. Service was good.

Yelp
I've had this place on my list to try for quite a while and so happened to be in the area and stopped in. Got a seat at the bar during happy hours and We were not disappointed at all, actually it surpassed our expectations. Everything we tried tasted delicious, nothing was wasted. The drinks omg! I don't know if it was luck or the food is always that good but no complaints, will definitely be back. Our servers are was amazing and helpful. Definitely worth a try. We even grabbed stuff to go, the blueberry carrot cake is super delicious, I started eating it while I was still there lol one of the best I've had.
google avatar

Nichole K.

Yelp
Very pricey. Nice atmosphere. The service was great. The crab dip and crab bisque were amazing. I got the fried seafood, a little too much fried food. Recommend the loaded mashed potatoes.
google avatar

Yelp
What a gem! The restaurant is in the middle of a residential area, which if I lived in, I'd eat here daily! Catherine, is an absolute superstar, who provided the most amazing service. We had mussels and coconut shrimp as starters, both of which were really good. The warm bread served next was good, BUT the brown butter which is kept warm by candle was good enough to drink! The butter elevated the bread, and elevated everything in our entree's! I mean EVERYTHING, trust me, I put it on EVERYTHING! Entrees we're incredible! The brown butter upside down cake that we shared for dessert...phenomenal! I can't wait to get home, and have the blueberry carrot cake that we ordered to go! Ambiance-check Service-check Food/drink-check Overall great experience!

Yelp
Came here for dinner with a big group and it was great! We shared 24 oysters, of which there was a great variety. I got the Chilean sea bass special and it was cooked perfectly. The chocolate peanut butter dessert was soooo good. Wines and cocktails are reasonably priced too! Great spot in Allentown.

Hank N.

Yelp
The Paella was phenomenal and the service was great!!! My wife's steak was cooked perfectly!! Everything was delicious and the chocolate dessert with the Chex cereal was unbelievable!! A great evening!!

Yelp
First time trying this place and it was surprising to us that the place is situated right in a residential neighborhood which is pretty cool. We were able to just park for free on the street. Walking in, the place is massive and I very much like the wooden architecture and columns. Looks homely yet modern at the same time. Our waiter was very nice and attentive throughout. My son got the New England clam chowder to start and he enjoyed it to the last drop. My wife and I share a spring spinach salad with shaved almonds appetizer for $11 which was pretty good. For main entree, I had the seafood fra diablo which is assortment of seafood (clams, octopus, large shrimp, scallops, mussels) over bed of linguini and red clam sauce. It does have a fiery kick as advertised and quite scrumptious. My son got the chicken fettuccine which he thought it was just subpar as the sauce was too creamy and not cheesy enough. Also he felt the chicken was a bit cardboard like. My wife got the Chilean sea bass special for $40 and for that price. She was dismayed on the size of the bass itself. All in all, we had high expectation and left feeling tad disappointed.

Yelp
This restaurant has Bolete prices and Pines Dinner Theater quality. Went here for dinner and ordered oysters, paella, and key lime pie. The bread came out and appeared to be King's Hawaiian slider rolls on a plate, not even warmed. The $34 paella was really sandy -- wash those clams, guys! -- and had little hunks of carrot and pea that were almost certainly from a frozen vegetable medley. The oysters were just okay, and it's an oyster house. The key lime pie was the only part of the meal I liked, and maybe that's partly because I was about to leave. Youell be disappointed!

Beverly P.

Yelp
Have the blackberry sangria for sure! Good food and service. They also offer comeback specials that are a great value.
google avatar

Yelp
I make sure to stop by every time I'm in the Allentown, PA area. The seafood fettuccine is delicious, nice amount of seafood, scallops, shrimp, lobster & crab meat, broccolini, tomato brandy cream sauce. The tuna tartare is fresh and tasty with homemade crackers. The fried calamari are tender and not too greasy. The blueberry carrot cake is a "must have". I definitely will be returning. This is a nice place for seafood lovers if you are in the area.

Yelp
The service was amazing and the food was outstanding. I absolutely loved this place and the waitress. The soft shell crab was so buttery and yummy.

Yelp
Ok, came in around 3:15 and apparently there was a team meeting, something going on in kitchen and the staff turnover. We were surprised to be sitting for 15 minutes before server came back after giving us water. When we found a server she apologized and went for drinks. Our original server came back and apologized. Service was stellar from then till end of dinner! We think it was one of the freshest and most delicious seafood dinner in many years!! The warmed brown butter was a great touch! My oysters, hubbies chowder were exceptional! I had the broiled dinner and he had the fried. The potatoes were great and the vegetables were fine but nothing special. Would have liked to had a choice for potatoes and veggies. The server barely mentioned them. Not sure she was impressed with them. One little roll with tasteless butter could be eliminated as it really wasn't good. Overall, excellent service and meal. Can't wait to go back!!

Aaron K.

Yelp
food was decent, service was good. prices do not reflect the quality of food at all. from someone who frequently visits restua such as tweeds in Long Island or dock oysters in ac I was very disappointed. I paid 240$ including tip for 2 meals and 2 mixed drinks for quality food I feel I could find at Outback. The seafood was good but they have no idea how to cook a steak, no sear completely bland. I related this to the manager with no resolve, use high heat please. I'd post a picture if I could but imagine a pale steak and that's what you'll receive.

Lasa M.

Yelp
Friendly, fast service & accommodating to our older friend so we did not wait long. Ambiance was casual yet warm with dimmed lighting, at first seemed a little noisy but we settled right in! Cocktails delicious. Calamari & sauce was great start to delightful meal. We shared seafood pasta & our friend enjoyed limited non seafood menu with filet mignon with veggies & potatoes. Enjoyed anniversary dinner & will definitely return! Only item we did not like was the bread

Yelp
So back in 2013, Youell's had reopened from a fire. My review from back then was quite scathing. Well, this is a new era. The nature of my experience did a complete 180 this time. I was impressed with the quality of food. I had the Fra Diablo over linguini. The scallops were silky and decadent. The calamari was superb. I left more than satisfied.

Yelp
The four stars are indicative of the food... other factors are probably a three. Had a family dinner last night to celebrate a birthday. Hadn't been here in years because we'd drifted to other places to celebrate. The food is good, not stop in your tracks good, but good - shrimp scampi, seafood fra diavolo, seabass, seafood combo. This issues I have center around three things... 1) parking is a pain. This is in a residential neighborhood and finding a spot requires you to arrive 10 minutes prior to your reservation so you can circle the blocks to find a space. 2) there's a lot of down time... it seemed like a wait for just about everything. The server was pleasant and friendly but the whole process seemed slow and maybe that's related to 3) you get what you get... and it's expensive for what you get. Need a side dish? Add on. Need a side salad? Add no. Some of the downtime could be filled w/ all entrees coming w/ a small side salad. It may make it feel like you're getting a little more bang for the buck and distract from the slow service. The teeny-tiny (but tasty) roll isn't enough.

Jillian Newhard J.

Yelp
My husband and I come here every year for our anniversary and never leave disappointed. Service, food and everything is always top notch and we leave stuffed. If you ever get a chance I absolutely recommend this restaurant!
google avatar

Yelp
The food was delicious and our server was really nice and the ambience was amazing i'm so glad that we went to dinner.

Yelp
Food Is phenomenal Service is above and beyond Ambiance is perfect The best place for seafood in the Valley (my opinion)

Yelp
Stellar dining experience last night at Youell's, thanks in no small part to my warm and efficient server, Grace (apt name!). My meal was delicious; my favorite part was the lobster tail, which was perfectly cooked. Huge variety on the menu. Don't neglect to check the menu of specials. It was tough to choose. Btw, if you're driving there and feel like you must be lost because you're in the middle of an entirely residential neighborhood, you're actually on the right track!
google avatar

Christopher P.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place for happy hour! The seafood is fresh and the service is on par. Variety of raw oysters and happy hour specials. The steamed clams and tuna tartare are amazing! It's definitely one of my favorite places to go for happy hour and I definitely would recommend you give them a try!

Joe P.

Yelp
Incredible dining experience checks all the boxes. When I visit PA I am always looking for a reason to dine at Youell's
google avatar

Donna B.

Yelp
Close to a five star, food is almost always great, happy hour is exceptional, where else can you get clams or oysters for a buck a chuck, and good drinks for about $10. Got to get there at 3:45 for a seat at a the bar. Entrees are also good. One minor problem is preparation of soft shell crabs, usually presented in a garlic/wine broth which is tasty but softens the fried soft shell, perhaps separating the crab from the broth and using it as a dip would be better. Chowder is good tasting but a little thick for my liking. Deserts are tops for carrot cake, but slide a bit for other offerings. Overall, a very good local restaurant which is reasonably priced, with good service and menu. Try it if you have not yet done so.

Bobbi G.

Yelp
The service was good, the food excellent and the ambiance, well where we were seated was a little cramped. I felt like people were listening to our conversation and we theirs.
google avatar

Kathy V.

Yelp
Fantastic food and atmosphere. The oysters were the best I've had in Pennsylvania! My salmon dinner was perfectly cooked (I always ask for as rare as possible). The only bad thing is that there isn't a parking lot, so yes, your car waits on the street for you to return. We had a party of 5 and had excellent service for a 70th birthday "party." Recommended!

Christine W.

Yelp
This place is amazing ! The bar staff is outstanding! We were taken care of by a phenomenal bartender named Alysia. she is awesome at her job!
google avatar

Annie L.

Yelp
I ordered the crab cakes as my entree and it totally fell short. The crab cakes were watery and it was obvious they were microwaved bc the inside was steaming while the outside was lukewarm. The potatoes were bland and oily. Even the bread was horrible. It was stale and hard as a rock. Dessert was crème brûlée. The sugar was overly carmalized to being burnt and left the crème tasting bitter. For the price it was such a let down. I do not recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Dave C.

Yelp
Youell's has the best and freshest seafood. Oysters are always the best, plenty of variety. The service is on par for the top chop houses.
google avatar

Bernadette D.

Yelp
My first time here and I loved it. I am a huge seafood lover and the food did not disappoint! Not pictured are the oysters, which are a must!! The service was great and they were attentive. The food came out quickly and the drinks were strong. The menu was pretty extensive and I will definitely be back to try more of the seafood dishes. Lobster rolls are a hit or miss sometimes, but this one was definitely a hit! I could say I left feeling so full and satisfied. The coconut shrimp came with mango pico de gallo and wow - the combination was impeccable. That and the oysters were definitely 2 of my favorite dishes.
google avatar

Joelle S.

Yelp
The food is always on point. I know I'm going to have a great meal start to finish. Desserts made on site, craft cocktails before and after dinner. Everything exceeds absolute perfection. The service is always on point as well. The servers are friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and do their jobs well. I have some faves- but they are all great so you really can't go wrong. The ambience is easy going- you can dress up or down and not feel out of place. It's really a great place to celebrate a special occasion or just grab a quick bite on a random evening. I've been a fan of Youell's since they were located around the corner from my childhood home on College Hill. I have wonderful memories. Thank you Youells.
