When my family moved to this area over 15 years ago, this place was recommended to us. Still, after all this time, this is the only Chinese place in the area that I will order from, after sampling many in the area (Frederick/MoCo). They have the best hot and sour soup in the area. Actually flavorful. The cream cheese wontons are different, not as crispy as you would expect, but the flavor is great. veggies are always fresh and crunchy, never overcooked. Both the more traditional dishes and the Americanized dishes have great flavors. Food is always ready fast.

Google
Delivery options need to be available. 5/5 in every other way. Food is great. Service is perfection. But you’ve got to let one of the delivery services pick up from you if you’re not going to offer it from your business. I get why you don’t, but our family and many more would order here way more if you did. Our family alone would order 1-2 times a month because we love your restaurant. We don’t because by the time we know we need to order the family dinner, no one wants to go back out. Trust me, it would be even more for your business than what you put out.

Google
3 orders in a row they've forgotten a part of our order. We ordered sweet and sour chicken and didn't get the tub of red sauce. The two previous times we paid for extra rice and have not received it. We will not walk away from the counter without a bag inventory ever again. The food is awesome. Attention to detail, not so much so.

Samantha S.

Google
Ew just don’t- I don’t even know how to describe what we just received. Half literally inedible - man I was really cheering for you all but 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

Google
They are very accommodating and make your food very quickly!

Google
Have been eating their food for years now. Consistently good. Fairly priced for portion size. My favorite is chicken with cashew nuts

Went to pick up my birthday dinner tonight and the cashier didn't know how to ring up gift cards. I was using a brand new (and verified 10 minutes prior to going there) gift card to purchase my order, but they couldn't figure out how to ring up with a gift card. Very disappointing since GC are so widely used. They might want to figure out how to use these... for now I'll be taking my business to a place that knows how to use their credit card machines for all types of plastic.

Google
Some of the best Chinese food you can get locally. Food quality is consistent. Have been going there over 7 years every other week or so. Our favorite dish there is Homestyle tofu! other good food there are their fried chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken, lomein, fried rice, and cho-cho chicken or beef

Yelp
My chicken garlic sauce was on the sweet side which i don't like but the lo mein and orange chicken were good. Prices are great as well.

Esther M.

Yelp
I ordered chicken fried rice. It was horrible, I also ordered vegetable lo mein. horrible, I also ordered vegetable spring rolls sticky inside. I ordered steamed broccoli. It was good. I also ordered fried chicken wings. It was good.

Yelp
Young Chow continues to be amazing! If you're looking for classic Chinese takeout this is the place to go. From egg rolls to dumplings, sesame chicken to orange chicken, and all kinds of fried rice and noodles, everything is great. The portions are also huge, and one dish can make two or three meals. The restaurant itself is very small and basic, with no seating except to wait for your takeout order. The family that runs it is always busy but very nice. Glad that Young Chow made it through the pandemic and is still here!

Yelp
So hard to find good Chinese food in this area! Young Chow is just ok! I ordered shrimp fried rice and the shrimp were small and very few of them, and the rice wasn't moist it was dry. Hot & sour soup didn't have much in it.

Lori A.

Yelp
My biggest complaint is that the quality and taste of the food isn't consistent. Sometimes the fried rice or linen us very dry and tasteless and other times it tastes good or average. Same thing with their egg rolls. It is rare for them to taste yummy crispy fresh. Same with the sauce on the entrées.. sometimes too much, other times not enough. I think their prices are high for the portion sizes and a lot if times their fortune cookies are stale and the sauce packets they leave out.. some times there are just a few. Last, if you order the soup but don't want dumplings they still charge full price. It would be great if they had a loyalty program or coupons!

Janet H.

Yelp
First encounter they were extremely rude to my mom on the phone and I told her to hang up as I didn't want to support them. A year plus later gave them another try, but wish we didn't. Waste of money. Food was not good at all. No clue how they are rated as high as they are.

Yelp
I love holes-in-the wall, but I also love authentic Chinese food. This is not the latter. Maybe they aim for the local market, as other reviews here seem favorable, but this was among the worst 'chinese' food I have eaten. Oversalted tasteless soup broth. Sugar in the chicken broccoli -- lots of sugar, amid a bland (flavorless) brown sauce. Overcooked green beans, again too much salt. Bland veggies and pork. Etc. Can the owners please add a menu section (or even a wall poster) that includes dishes they cook for themselves (and their friends from China) at home? Call it "Authentic Chinese dishes" or somesuch. I would not eat here again if I can avoid it. The staff are very nice.

Yelp
I used to go here a lot when I first moved to Frederick (17 years ago) and this was my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. That said, tonight was the first time I ordered from this place in over 5 years. Unfortunately this place is no longer as good as I remember. The dishes I ordered tonight were either extremely bland or had a burnt flavor. The pork egg rolls were also very bland and had no signs of pork in them. If you are in Frederick and want good Chinese food, go to Beijing on East Patrick Street. They are one of the best in the area and I will now drive the additional 15 mins to go there than back to this place.

Yelp
Pretty good Chinese food- would absolutely recommend the crispy beef and shrimp egg foo young

Yelp
My local Chinese place. Never lets me down!! Favorite Chinese place ever. Food is delicious and never misses. Service is great!! 10/10 would recommend!!

Fergy T.

Yelp
Good food. Stopped here for the first time, the service was good. The food was good except for the wontons. The wontons were chewy and pretty much inedible (1 star removed). The rest of the food was good, hot and spicy when it was supposed to be. Except for that one thing I'd try them again.

Yelp
Great place. We order today for first time (chicken broccoli) I was delicious!! Will comeback again

Yelp
Every neighborhood has its goto Chinese place, YC is mine. It's no frills take out, but the food is always good and the portions are generous for the price.

Walt B.

Yelp
Tonight was my first time getting takeout from Young Chow. The food was prepared just as we asked, and it was delicious. Ordering over the phone was easy and the food was done quickly. If there is any negative, I wish there was delivery and you could pay over the phone. Otherwise it was a great experience.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
I enjoyed the food here. Much better than other take out Chinese I've had lately. The were super fast and the food was fresh and hot.

Yelp
Best chinese restaurant in the area. Sesame chicken, chicken and broccoli, and the soups are amazing. Spring rolls are delicious. Definetly recommend, if you want some awesome chinese food. Friendly staff and a smooth customer experience from start to finish. Bon Appetite!!

Yelp
Favorrite Chinese in the area! Fast service and great menu items- love the Wonton Soup, steamed dumplings, vegetable spring rolls and Crispy Beef!

Ryan W.

Yelp
I had the fried wantons, pan fried dumplings and egg rolls. Everything was good and crispy. The sauce for the dumplings is very tasty. I would stop in again.

Donald S.

Yelp
First time we ordered Chinese from this place, thought this restaurant was better than a lot of others in and around the area. The three of us each ordered something different (lo mein, general tso, and mu shu pork) and we each thought it was good if not better than average. The one thing that two of us ordered but didn't care for was the spring rolls. Another thing about Young Chiows was the serving sizes were large. Each entree we got would have easily satisfied two people, even two hungry people. Would we go back again - - absolutely. And until we find another Chinese restaurant in the area that's better, this will be our go to place for Chinese takeout.

Yelp
They have great fried rice but quality is inconsistent throughout menu, some foods are better made than others. If you buy outside of lunch special menu food really isn't worth it in terms of price, cheaper places next door make better food

Yelp
This is my go to place for take out. I love the pan fried dumplings and beef and broccoli. The egg rolls are good too and always a good choice. I call on my way over and it's usually ready when I get there. The quality is consistent and good. The place feels clean inside so that's always a plus. Staff is friendly and quick! Take a shot at this place. Good take out!

Erik C.

Yelp
Definitely some of the best Chinese in the area. I especially liked the fried rice and the general tsos chicken. I also had a gentleman tell me that the teriyaki shrimp was fantastic as well

Yelp
I love this place. When China Taste in Mt Airy closed a few years ago, I couldn't find a place that I liked as well. This place at least comes close. The crab rangoons are delicious and we love the Beef and Broccoli and Chicken with Garlic Sauce. Glad to have found this place!

Yelp
This is the only place I get Chinese food anymore. They are quick and yummy - really enjoy their tofu, can be easy to mess up tofu but they do it wonderfully. The waiting area is always clean and the staff is always nice and attentive.

Yelp
We found Young Chow on Yelp when we were at Adventureland (amusement park) and wanted something better than their deep-fried carnival food options. Overall, it fit the bill well and provided incredible value for the money. Some of the food was lacking in taste, but they were very helpful and speedy and accommodated my special requests. Food: the chicken corn soup tasted like it was made with water instead of broth - it was mostly flavorless. The beef with broccoli was a big hit with the family - very flavorful with tender meat and bright green broccoli. The steamed dumplings were huge and very hot with a tasty meat filling and sauce inside. Note that these are "bread-like" dumplings, not thin rice paper wrappers, so they may heavier than what you're looking for. (My kids were just fine with them and wanted seconds.) We ordered a "diet" dish of steamed chicken with vegetables which came with a thick soy-ginger-sesame sauce on the side. The chicken was thin and tender and the veggies were fine - a good choice if you want to control the fat and salt you're consuming. Finally, we ordered lemon chicken which is normally made with deep fried chicken. They were happy to substitute steamed chicken for us, which I appreciated, but the chicken was a bit water-logged which diluted the mild lemon sauce that comes on the side. It was fine, but not something we'd run out to order again because the lemon sauce didn't have enough punch to it. Plenty of hot, white rice came along with the food. Value: we ordered 3 entrees, dumplings and a quart of soup to feed 2 adults and school-age kids. The total was $35.09 and we had enough food for 2 meals - a better value than McDonald's. I ordered over the phone and the cashier volunteered that I qualified to get a free item. It was nice that she brought it up instead of waiting to see if I knew about their offer. (We got a free carton of fried rice.) Speed: I called my order in then drove over, which took about 10 minutes. When I walked in everything was finished and already in the bag. It didn't look like they were working on any other orders, but I'm guessing they're speedy even if they've got a lot going on. Decor: It's billed as a carryout, so I didn't expect seating, but they do have several basic tables and chairs. I also saw a sign in the corner offering free Jasmine tea to anyone eating in. Nothing fancy, but it seemed clean and tidy. Bottom line: we'll go back if we're in the neighborhood and wanting an option that's healthier than fast food or pizza. If you order carefully you can have a great meal that's relatively low fat and full of vegetables.

Yelp
Young Chow's food is as fine as Chinese gets! We live just a few blocks away, and order from there often. The food is good, and they will spice it up if you want (I do!). Nice people to deal with

Yelp
Food is always great here. General tso chicken and combination fried rice is my favorite. People are always nice and they always seem fairly busy. Fairly priced. Try it out!

Chris P.

Yelp
GREAT BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! We ordered soup, spring rolls, crispy beef, and mu shu chicken and NONE of it was good at all (not even the rice, wow). We ended up sitting in the waiting area waiting for our food for about 25 minutes. After waiting long enough, we finally found our food sitting on the counter bunched with the takeout ordered on the phone. Needless to say, we will NEVER return and do not recommend this restaurant.

Jason M.

Yelp
I really like Young Chow! Their lunch specials are great as well as their special combination platter prices. I always get the beef with broccoli, spicy, with wonton soup and fried rice. It's spot on every time. The broccoli is slightly firmer than most places, which is exactly how I like it so I can have a little crunch. I also do take their free jasmine tea every time too :) I've heard their chicken isn't as good as their beef. I wouldn't know because their beef is so good I see no reason to change it up. So glad this went into Green Valley. Chopstix in Urbana is incredibly good, but it's an extra 10 minute drive compared to this.

Paul K.

Yelp
The folks here are always very nice and polite, and they are always quite speedy. Pricing is average or less. I'm only giving 4 stars because it's not the best Chinese food I've ever had, but its cheap and convenient.

Philip S.

Yelp
Fast, convenient, friendly. As a vegetarian, I always enjoy the Bean Curd Home Style while my wife usually choses a chicken dish. The quality of food is always very good and I feel that it's competitively priced and a great value.

B P.

Yelp
Best Chinese in the area -Very sweet staff! Worth the drive. :)

J B.

Yelp
Best Chinese food in the area, always hot and fresh. We particulary like the Beef w/ snow peas and Lemon Chicken. Fast service, food is always hot. There's another good Chinese restaurant in Mt. Airy, too, but this is so close and there aren't many fast food places in the area.

Brittney G.

Yelp
This is the first Chinese restaurant I have ever eaten at that uses peanut butter to seal their egg rolls. How do I know this? My husband had to call and ask if they had used peanuts in any of the food we ordered because I couldn't, I was on my way to the hospital after having a severe allergic reaction. They don't list on their menu that they use peanut butter on any of their menu items. With the number of people who are allergic to peanut butter, it would be better for this business to list on their menu that they use peanut butter, not in their egg rolls, but to seal them. Apparently cheaper, lower quality, Chinese restaurants use peanut butter. We won't be returning.

K S.

Yelp
Since all of the Chinese food in Urbana sucks, we were very happy to find this place. It is a carryout place that does not deliver, which is a bummer, but it is still the best around. The sushi has always been fresh and delicious! The pork fried rice is fantastic. The lomein is ok, but the Kung Pao Chicken is phenomenal. They do not use MSG which is very favorable. We keep going back. They are speedy, friendly, and happy to offer a free item when you spend enough. Not necessarily the best Chinese we've ever had, but certainly the best we've found in a 10-15 mile radius!
