The Best Restaurants in Halifax, Nova Scotia | Eater Montreal

"This classic pub shines brightest in the summertime. While the standard grub and decently priced drinks are great, the sprawling rooftop patio is even better. Grab a spot by the roof’s edge to glimpse Spring Garden Road and the Public Gardens below." - Gabby Peyton

Came in for the Thursday wing special and wasn’t disappointed. Crispy, flavorful, and a great deal. The vibe of the place is relaxed and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Perfect spot to kick back with friends and enjoy some good food. I’ll definitely be back!

Google
The best chicken wings I have ever eaten! Had the salt and pepper wings with hot sauce on the side. They were right when they said they are famous. Delicious. Cozy pub atmosphere with a nice view of spring garden. Staff is pleasant. Love it.

Google
Your Father's Moustache is not the same anymore! Wings night doesn’t exist… costs $1.56 per wing on a Thursday .. you have to purchase a drink + $1 a wing. Not worth it! Sat in the patio no one came to take our order. We switched to downstairs and Kendyl served us. She was great. Prices on the website are less than in restaurant. Probably our last time here

Google
Always refreshing to see a place put energy and intention behind pub food without making it some sort of elevated other thing. The fries and the sweet hot mess burger were the best I've had in some time. Clubhouse gas too.

Google
Walked in because we were thirsty ! Excellent choice of tap beer including a summer one flavored with watermelon. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Google
i came here for their mac n’ cheese, and got a purple haze cocktail as well. the mac n’ cheese was yummy, creamy and rich, nice and cheesy which i enjoyed. the bread crumbs were like crumbled crackers which was okay, and it came with a piece of garlic bread. the portion size was really good. the purple haze was alright, but not the best that i’ve had. staff was super friendly, checking in often to make sure i was enjoying my meal and to ask if i needed anything. overall, the meal was good, the atmosphere friendly.

Google
Great place for a tasty bite after work. Go early as the place tends to get busy during dinner time. Highly recommend their lobster roll and wings.

Google
Good value, friendly service, decent food quality, adequate portion sizes, highly recommend their chicken wings sauce on the side, honey garlic, medium rang

Yelp
This place was recommended to us by a local friend. We went on a cruise recently that stopped at Halifax for the day. We enjoyed their wonderful seafood of seafood chowder and lobster roll. Food was delicious and fresh. The service wasn't the best but our waiter apologized as they were short staffed and packed.

Joel P.

Yelp
Good food good beer fun place I will definitely stop here next time. I am in town Wednesday nights. A full rack of ribs is half price and they are very tasty.

Yelp
I placed an order online for 3 Caesar salads and the total came out to 92$. I simply can't justify paying that much for 3 bowls of lettuce. They need to reevaluate their price points

Yelp
Just sweating me all around. Visit this place, you won't regret it. Only wish I had been there for some music.

Yelp
Amazing food was perfect and they have excellent service. If you like fish & chips... This is one of the best I've ever had . Their home crafted sauces and craft beer selection was wonderful as well. My husband loved the mustache burger.

Yelp
I went for lunch on my own. Sat at the bar. Service was prompt and friendly. Beer was cold and crisp. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. I love a good buffalo chicken sandwich. It is my go to in pubs/bars. I have eaten it everywhere from Fountain City Arizona to St. Johns NFLD. This wasn't just the best buffalo chicken sandwich I have ever had, this was the best by far. The chicken had the perfect amount of hot sauce so that it was spicy but still crisp. A dollop of ranch to temper the heat. A big fat fresh tomato slice, melted cheddar on a brioche bun. My only complaint was the fries. They were cooked perfectly, golden brown but, processed. I would love to see hand cut, twice fried. That would have been the perfect compliment to the perfect bufallo chicken sandwich. I will be back.

Yelp
Judging from all the good reviews we saw, we thought this place would be great. It is quite the opposite. We both got sick from the food. They pathetically offer a lobster roll for $30 and there's not even an ounce of lobster. On top of that, it's not fresh. Definitely pre packaged lobster. They gauge tourists with the meals that they want and then it's terrible. We plainly asked how it was and the server reluctantly said it was good. It's very obvious that she was looking for a hire ring out therefore pushed something she knew wasn't good. I am bed ridden from that meal. Servers just stand around. We only ever saw our server four times; to get our drinks, to get our order, to drop the food off and to collect our payment. I would not waste my money here. I am not the type to leave a review and it was such a terrible experience I felt I needed to. Maybe the rest of the food is good, but the lobster roll and chicken sandwich will send you straight to bed nauseous unable to function.

Yelp
This place is unique in so many ways. For one, they have portraits on the walls of random dudes and their crazy mustaches. I was laughing my ass off looking at these guys (look at the pictures I posted). I didn't have time to explore the rest of the restaurant has to offer because we had so much to check out in such a short period of time. We started off on the rooftop (which is huge). Full bar and plenty of tables. My cousin got cold so we ended up moving downstairs after eating our appetizer. We got wings for an app and they were crunchy and delicious. I ended up getting the lobster roll with sweet potato fries. Absolutely heavenly. Best lobster roll I've ever had. And the sweet potato fries were perfect. They have some great menu options. Holly was our waitress and she was bubbly, sweet, accommodating, and very personable. I would 110% recommend coming here. Great food, cool atmosphere, chill vibes, all around 5/5 stars.

Yelp
I ordered the club sandwich which was a delicious grilled chicken and bacon between two lightly toasted and buttered slices of bread, and it didn't disappoint! Even better, my wife ordered the lobster roll and my mother in law had the lobster dinner special, both for a reasonable price, and they were both satisfied. The service was also great, and we'd definitely recommend this place.

Richard S.

Yelp
Ordered the lobster sandwich but unfortunately the lobster meat was unedible. Very old and like chewing gum. Instead they gave me a chicken bacon sandwich that was also unedible, chicken was like the sole of your shoe and the bacon must have been from yesterday's breakfast. Server was excellent though!!

Yelp
It had been a few years since I'd eaten at Your Father's Moustache, and maybe it was the time of day, maybe it was the time of year...but I found it to be just okay. We went here for a late lunch/early dinner (around 3:30 pm) and while the service and food were okay, it was nothing to write home about. I found it pricey for what it was. I got the pulled pork sandwich which was delicious, though there was something about it that tasted like turkey? Weird. My husband got the club sandwich which I tried and found pretty bland. They provide heaps of fries which were also just kind of there. I mean, I enjoyed them because they're fries, but they're certainly no Darrel's fries. ;) I much prefer the patio at YFM, rather than the actual inside. It's dark and dated - kind of makes me think of Boston Pizza actually. It also doesn't seem to know if it wants to be a sports bar or not, it was just a strange experience. I much prefer the patio/deck on the roof in the summer - it's wonderful sitting out there! I will have to say that our waitresses were phenomenal. About halfway through the meal the shifts switched off so we had two different waitresses and they were both really great. Prompt, friendly and helpful without bugging us too much.

Yelp
Great food and friendly environment. This was my first visit to this restaurant and I will be back. The customer service was excellent. I went at lunch and had the moustache burger and nine locks dirty blonde beer, I didn't have to wait long for my food or ask for a refill.

Yelp
I love the rooftop patio. Love it!! I've mostly spent summer days and afternoons up there, but one evening I went with my family we got a table on the rooftop with the fire pit in the middle! How awesome is that? I finally got to experience it! I'm usually one of the creeps sitting on the side lines, looking down at you while you're enjoying the fire in the middle of your table, all cozy and awesome-like. But, not that day! I've never had any issues here, the staff are awesome - they actually interact with you, not just bring you your food and go on with their job; they make the YFM "experience" that much better. I find the menu average; it's not bad, but not extraordinary, just average. They do have an above average brunch menu though! Definitely not a place you'd expect to have a great brunch, but they do! Saturday and Sunday only though! Their drink menu is pretty extensive; lots of options! Must try: The Pub Club (it was actually voted the best in Halifax!) and the Banana Carmel Cheesecake (I don't even care if it comes out of a box, it's BANANA CHEESECAKE!)

Yelp
Your fathers moustache is not an establishment I would recommend. My brother and I went a few months ago and we were seated right next to the band which was deafening. The band was way to loud for such a small restaurant. When we got our beer, mine was flat and his was warm. When we finally got our meals, my chicken sandwich was hardly warm and about two hours later, I had my head in a toilet. It took me 3 days to recover from the food poisoning.

Yelp
Hi there! I just wanted to write a review to share how amazing your bartender Dawson's Service was! He was always on time, extremely Friendly, and just a total pleasure to be around!! He is an amazing member of your team, and I look forward to coming back thanks to the amazing experience he provided!!

Yelp
Most inattentive servers we found in Halifax. Our food took 45 minutes to arrive and was ice cold. Very disappointed with this restaurant.

Yelp
Been a loooong time since I was here. Food was hot, patio was nice, but Sangaria was Blech. Plastic pitcher of pineapple juice and citrus rind leftovers. Rindovers? Had to ask for ice as it was warm. Quick meal before movie but dissapointing as we wanted a fruity drink on the patio.

Yelp
Dish: Calamari Overall: 2.8/5 Recommend: No I have a particular fondness for this restaurant. I've spent quite a bit of my time here, telling stories, watching "the game" and dining with friends and family. I've had first dates here, that have turned into 2nd dates and 3rd dates. I've also had first dates here that have turned into "let's just be friends". So is the food good? I have no idea; I can't remember any of the meals I've ever had here. Until now... ... Value: 2/5 The price is about average, but the quality doesn't quite match up. First timer: 3/5 A first timer reaction to this dish is likely to be along the lines of "it's ok, I don't know what the big deal is...but, yeah...it was fine". That's not terrible, but it's not ideal. You want to try calamari somewhere that it will really light up your evening (so to speak). That's not the takeaway with this dish. ... The food here is good. I'm sure of it. Why else would I keep going back... read the full review at www.squidverse.com

Yelp
This will be a slightly different review. For those who want the quick and dirty, here you go: There's a reason this place has been so popular for so long. The patio in the summer is a must for everyone. The food is exactly what you expect at a place like this, not 5 star Zagats quality but really good, lots of selection and reasonably priced. Service is always friendly. If it's busy expect a bit of a wait, but nothing unusual for a busy spot. My big point of love for this place is their staff. My 7 year old has Celiac. Not a sensitivity to gluten but full blown Celiac. The menu has gluten free options so we are trying as many places as possible so eating out is easier. When we ordered the grilled cheese and asked for the Gluten free option, the waitress was quick to point out their fries do contain gluten. Not all fries do. What this told me was the staff are well trained and very attentive. I really appreciated that. Celiac really makes eating in general something you always have to think about. Eating out can be very tough. I will be telling everyone I know in the Celiac community (I guess we can call it that) that this is a restaurant to go to. Restaurants don't have to make the effort, I understand the cost associated, so it's great to see this effort. This is a place I will be sure becomes a regular stop for our family and friends. Thanks again to the great staff and owners.

Yelp
Cool little place when you walk in it's bunch of dudes with mustaches in photos. I decided to order the jalapeno burger with a side of fries, and to top it off I had the apricot wheat beer which is made in house. The combination of all three equals an awesome combination. I also noticed but this is a great place that's good for groups. So an afternoon filled with deliciousness and an awesome atmosphere is a winner in my book.

Yelp
To start: I kind of want to give the stache a 4.5. Simply because if you place it in the other categories of 5, the food doesn't really compare. We aren't talking top chef quality but that doesn't in no way mean it isn't delicious. The atmosphere, patio, and everything else, bumped this rating back up to a 5. My moustache. Oh how I love thee. The number of plates of nachos that I have put back here is more than likely disgusting. It would probably average out to 2 a week. They are by far my favorite nachos in the city (sorry shoe shop). Writing a review for this place gives me a slight bit of anxiety, simply because I love it so much. Let me count thy ways as to why I love the stache and why you need to go if you haven't already 1) Obvs, the chos are my list. The Coast rates them as the 2nd runner up in the city. When it comes down to it, it is entirely based on preference of what you're looking for in a cho. For me, its tons of tomatoes and jalapenos with sour cream and salsa. The stache delivers that to me every time, and lots of it. Not too pricey and effing delish. Win win. 2) The food in general at the stache isn't what I'd call gourmet. They certainly have a few solid dishes that I do enjoy. The pub club for starters. Winner of the 2011 Best clubhouse sandwich, the pub club has charbroiled chicken breast, mozza, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and onion all on a fab hunk of grilled French bread. Sounds simple, but it is pretty bomb. Other favorites are the almond grape salad, spring rolls, and the chicken dinner. 3) The stache also has one ballin' patio in the summer time. Halifax's patio season is like none other and you are always lucky if you can nab a seat at the stache. With an awesome view of spring garden road and tabletop fire places make for an awesome summer venue. The heat lamps also make it doable into September. 4) I've always had great service at the stache. I find them super fast even when they are busy. The number of times I've eaten there, I have yet to come across a bad egg of a server. 5) This place is massive. It is great if you want to get a bunch of people together and not have to worry about being elbow to elbow. It's a solid place to chill for beers with 20 of your buddies, last minute. 6) They have my most fav breaky in all of the land. Super cheap (6.75$) for the breakfast special which is: 2 egg, 2 bacon, 2 sausages, 2 pieces of toast, lots of fruit, and for a little extra cents you get hash browns. Again, it comes fast and powerful for the emergency hangover incidences. 7) The have my fav buckets of candy at the door for when you leave--not to worry, they don't mind if you take a handful. 8) There are lots of tv's strategically placed around the joint to occupy your boyfriends mind and attention the entire time you eat. 9) The caesars! So far, they are my favorite in the city. Served with a wicked stalk of celery and just the perfect amount of spice. I crave these bad boys day and night. Perfect for breakfast to start the day off just right or for the start to your evening. They go heavy on the vodka, which goes undetected. So proceed with caution (I never do) 10) Just do it.

Yelp
Even though this bar is (in my opinion) very touristy, I still enjoy coming here with my friends for dinner/drinks. The service is good considering how busy the restaurant generally is but it isn't anything to write home about. The main contributor to this 4 star rating is the food aka the Pub Club + fries. The Pub Club is a generously sized grilled chicken sandwich and their fries are fresh and crispy. Price-wise the Moustache is a bit above the average for downtown Halifax. The atmosphere and decor are nice and give off a comforting feeling. There's also a very long model train that circles the perimeter of the dining area (pretty cool I think). Overall, this place is a good spot to take friends from out of town to and is a great spot for some casual dinner & drinks.

Yelp
Just .... ugh ... Waitress was lovely - but cutlery was dirty -chunks of food from diners past -they forgot the poki sauce on the ahi ( obvious - what the hell ) - Calamari was tiny tiny portion - I mean tiny for $15 - burger was - meh- I just wanted out after this dinner - sorry I never complain - really - but just .... ugh...

Yelp
Great place! Nice atmosphere, great drinks and food. Important to know: every Tuesday - steak night. Every Thursday - chicken wings night!

Yelp
For our repeat tourist, this place is considered an iconic landmark to visit every time they are here. For the local community and students, this is our beloved hang-out space every Thursday night after a long week of classes. Your Fathers Moustache is known for its wings. So, If you are feeling to get those fingers dirty and filling your stomach with delicious wings, Thursday-Night is the day to go. Hands down! My favourite sauce is the BBQ one. In my 7 year experience around the food industry here in Halifax, very few restaurants have BBQ sauce that is actually NOT watered down! A soon as i dip my wing in the sauce, not a drop falls and i could taste every single "particle" of BBQ in it! For #SMUdents (Saint Mary's students), going to "Fathers" is the routine/usual/must-go/second-home choice for Thursdays with your crew. Over there they get the chance to link up with other circles of friends and ends up as a SMU 100+ gatherings. (Most of m undegrad SMU memories personally were there!) If your not feeling wings, thats fine! Let me recommend Cheese and bacon burger. If you finish the plate, then i will consider you a trooper!. With a think, juicy patty, 3 strips of bacon and molten cheese that literally seals and covers all that ( and i mean it!), with hot fresh fries and 2 nice pickles, you are defiantly getting you $$ worth at only 12 bucks! Not only the food and the social vibe that the place gives out, the mens washroom is defiantly and experience to talk about to all your friends (not sure about the ladies washroom). With their massive poster they have inside, no-one leaves the washroom without a laugh. Check the picture i posted as a hint ! In a nut shell, Your Fathers Moustache is the iconic social spot @SpringGardenRd

Yelp
Nothing tastes better than YFM wings on wing night ! YFM is in my top 3 for personal best wings in Halifax. They are battered so well! The atmosphere is extremely fun but it's so loud. At 6 they dim the lights which adds a relaxing sen feel but it's still electively loud with everyone trying to speak over the music. The patio doesn't even feel like a roof top. Nothing much has changed over the years thankfully! I remember coming to Halifax for road trips and YFM was a place I was desperate to show my girl friends ! The drinks are delicious, strong and colourful. It's definitely a very fun venue (picture club like but no dancing)

Yelp
Consistency,. thy name is Your Father's Moustache. In the years that I've been coming to the Moustache, I can't recall ever having a bad meal here. Granted I generally go for the usual pub offerings here like fish and chips, burgers, nachos and their famous Pub Club, but there's nothing wrong with doing the simple things right. In fact, it's key for a good restaurant to do those simple things right as they are often a bellwether of the other offerings on the menu. There are so many reasons why you can choose to go to the Moustache, including, but not limited to the following: watching the game, having a drink, the friendly atmosphere, people watching, stuffing your face, enjoying one of the best patios in the city, seeing an electric train in a bar. I suggest combining all or most of the above for the optimal Moustache experience. Especially the food and drink. After a bit of an unintentional hiatus from the 'Stache, I've been here a few times in the past month, and all served as a reminder of why this place is so enjoyable. I had some great nachos that were layered with lots of cheese and veggies. The Pub Club once again proved itself worthy of its Hali-fame with perfectly buttered and grilled bread, moist chicken, tasty bacon and cheese contrasted with the crunch of the shredded lettuce and zing from the onion, and special sauce that I swear tastes a lot like Mac sauce (in a good way). The fries, while likely of the frozen variety due to being coated for extra crispiness, are delicious and I'd take them any day over a limp and somehow still burnt fresh cut fry that you often see around the city. And while it may not yet be summer, my taste buds have shifted into that mode and I've been consistently ordering my favourite summer beer - Rickard's White draft. The servers here are friendly and professional and certainly stand out against sub-par service at many of the city's other pubs. The Moustache operates the middle of a Venn diagram of a British pub, chain restaurant, and sports bar. It is its own special place, and really one of Halifax's special spots. I look forward to warmer days and evenings when I'll be up on the patio with friends and beer sitting around a fire pit while I run up way too high of a tab. Cheers, YFM.

Yelp
This is my favourite place to go in Halifax for good cheap lobster. It's $19.99 for a lobster, potato salad and a roll. This special is always on when I'm visiting Halifax, so I suspect it's the regular price. It's very consistent. Every time I've gone the lobster is a good size and flavourful. Potato salad and roll are nothing remarkable, but they are just playing second fiddle to the lobster anyway. Service is good. It's a casual place and right on Spring Garden Road, so close to shopping.

Jamie J.

Yelp
Staff was friendly but the food was out of a box. Wings were over breaded and my wife's wrap looked like it came out of a vending machine. Too bad because it's a really cool space.
google avatar

Tim B.

Yelp
Was in Halifax for 3 nights. Liked this place so much the first night, we went back the next two. Food was good. Atmosphere was great. They have specials each night that are pretty good deals. Nachos were good too. They even had an American football game on instead of hockey reruns! AWESOME. I did not like the wings though... they need to rethink the way they make those. Just plain breaded with sauce on the side...
google avatar

Yelp
Well, what can I say. I grew up in Halifax and for as long as I can remember; this place has been open for business. This place is great if you're looking for a casual outing for a bite to eat. I'm usually here on Thursday nights for their wings. The wings quality is always consistent, crispy, crunchy, perfect temperature and just simply tasty! I've been here on other random nights, and their other menu items are also good. Waiting service is good. The staff is attentive and will make modifications to your order if you ask. There was a time I asked the waitress about any specials on drinks. She just pointed at the menu that was on the table and said "it's all in there". Clearly, she just didn't know. Although this happened once, once is all it takes to remember an experience at a place where you're shoving food into your body. Overall, I'm a fan of this establishment and I'll be back there very soon!

Yelp
The service at this place is beyond awful. We went on the weekend for brunch and was disappointed in everything from the fact that we weren't able to get hash browns at 3:02pm to the server who forgot cream for our coffee after us asking 3 times. The food was overpriced and tasteless and the server had no clue what was going on.
google avatar

Corinne R.

Yelp
Super busy day for the staff. It seemed a bit chaotic, I had the beet salad and added blackened chicken. Around the table it was a mix of different meals ordered. It was food- standard pub fare. You will be full. Not blown away. You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

J L.

Yelp
Located on the second floor, this place is great if you're looking to watch some sports while eating decent food. I ordered a lobster roll with fries and a Long Island iced tea. The drink itself was a bit watered down compared to the other times I've had it, but the lobster roll was nice. Overall, the menu was on the pricy side, but service was solid, the food was tasty, and there's a lot of seating and TVs spread around the space.

Tom L.

Yelp
Never, never again. We went a couple of weeks ago and they ave a live band on Saturdays. That Saturday, the food was OK, drinks fine, band good - so when we had a guest from out of town, we went again this Saturday. The food was poor. The chicken was so dry, it was inedible. Fish and chips were good, fries greasy and mushy, drinks fine. The band, Joe Murphy, was EXTREMELY, EXTREMELY, EXTREMELY LOUD (even the waitresses were holding their ears) and the band was awful. They played rock music to a blues beat. They also kept riffing so that they could show us all how 'FAB' they were - never mind the beat ... They were awful. It was like they were playing for themselves while looking in their mirror thinking how wonderful they were. I have never given a restaurant a 1 before but this is off my list forever. It ruined our evening and we gave up and left.

Yelp
Nothing fancy, sat at the bar upstairs. Typical bar food, a variety of beer on tap but no list so can make deciding a little tougher if you're not sure what you want/want to try something different since the bartenders are pretty busy. Service was friendly enough; layout of the restaurant is a little strange in terms of the outside seating and the main area. Strong wifi signal but could never connect for some reason. May seem obvious if you already know, but uses the same entrance as Rockbottom.

Yelp
Visited this bar/restaurant while I was on business in Halifax. It has some good food, good beer, and good atmosphere. I would for sure go back the next time I'm in Halifax. The bathroom's have funny pictures of girls that seem to be amazed at your package while you pee. Pretty amusing when you had a couple of those Canadian beers.

Yelp
Best pub I've ever been too! I'm from Toronto, Ontario and I've had the best time here when I visited Halifax Nova Scotia. Food is amazing, live music and great daily specials. Daily lobster special was the best part! Would definitely be my local pub if were to live in NS.

Yelp
Over rated. Food is just average at best. Service has never been bang on. Rooftop is great but that's about it

Yelp
I came to Your Father's Moustache last summer just after 8pm on a week night. I have waited this long to post a review because I wasn't sure if they needed to be called out, but I've decided they do. We were there hours before closing and it wasn't busy, so there was no need for our waitress to be cranky. But she was. The woman who seated us was very cheerful, but the mood instantly changed when Morghan (?) came to our table to take our order. She was glaring at us from the moment we sat down and spoke to us very monotone and her mannerisms indicated we were bothering her with our presence. As the night went on, she checked on us once and I caught her giving us the side eye and sighing and rolling her eyes when looking at us multiple times through the night. But that's not the worst of this experience. I ordered a $10 cocktail and was given a beer. I am very sensitive to beer. Not to mention my cocktail was supposed to be pink and fruity, and the drink that was given to me was brown and tasted like urine. After that, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and mashed potatoes. The bacon on my burger was 90% fat and kept getting stuck in my teeth. The burger meat was undercooked and chewy. It tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. And then I was very delighted to find A HAIR in my mashed potatoes!! Morghan was very cranky this night, so I didn't flag her down (not that she was around anyways) and I decided to leave without finishing my meal or drink. I tip every restaurant I go to, even if the service wasn't great. Your Father's Moustache is the first restaurant I have not tipped at. Do better. Here is a time stamped photo of the hair in my food. Very disappointed in this "restaurant".

Yelp
Your Father's Moustache is a Halifax icon, being one of the more popular eating and drinking destinations on the ever-popular Spring Garden Road. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, with the outdoor seating being upstairs on the roof. If you're lucky you can get a table with a nice street view. The atmosphere can get very festive, especially on weekends, and it can be quite a crush of people to deal with during peak times. It can be well worth it though since the staff are friendly, there are great food and drink specials, and the overall quality of the food is good as well. Last time I was there I had some sort of quinoa bowl that was absolutely delicious.

Yelp
On a hot summer afternoon, the rooftop patio at the 'Stache is a popular place to kick back and enjoy a few cold ones and the company of your friends. And even on the rainy days, this pub/restaurant is popular with students and the young working crowd. Prices are pretty affordable, and the menu features burgers, pasta, seafood, steak and chicken dishes. You won't be bowled over by the food, but you won't go away hungry, and if you enjoy a busy, bustling atmosphere, you'll be happy here. The spinach salad is a good choice - lots of fresh baby spinach, mushrooms, real bacon, fresh egg slices and mozzarella - and I have a friend who LOVES the cold pasta salad so much that she has it every time we go. It's sometimes tough to get a table here on weekend evenings, but there's enough turnover that you generally won't have to wait long.

Yelp
Your Father's Moustache, located in downtown Halifax, is a fun place to go for drinks, entertainment, or for a bite to eat. Specializing in pub food, the restaurant offers a roof-top patio in the summer and is open late every night of the week. Menu favorites are the Pub Club and the weekend Brunch. Thursday night is Wing Night and is a huge hit with the University students, but you'll want to get there early or you may not get a seat. On Saturday afternoons there is live entertainment with Joe Murphy and the Water Street Blues Boys.

Yelp
Thursday night is wing night pretty much everywhere but at the stash is the place to be. People have always flocked to the stash for a good time and do not leave unsatisfied. Wings come in several flavours hot, mild, blue cheese, suicide and honey garlic with all sauce on the side, yes I like the hot and spicy ones. The size of the wings are nice and big you know some places serve small bones for wings. As well the fish and chips are great as a supper choice, the battery is really nice and crispy $11.99 if I am not mistaken, sorry I did not pay. The atmosphere is always fun and light hearted not a location that you have to sit with your back to the wall and your wallet locked to you pants.

Yelp
Best drinks in town !! If you are looking for some cool cocktails and causal dining atmosphere then this is the place for you. Personally the Stache, as it is known in my house, is are go to for a meal out and those hungover Sunday mornings when we NEED our gin ceasers. So if you're looking for some good food and good times defiantly check out this place. Also a live band comes in on occasion so you can either get up and dance or enjoy the show.

Yelp
After trying the bar downstairs I ended up here for dinner and drinks. This is a super cool place for both eating and drinking with a fun atmosphere. I sat at the bar and had good service and was able to watch a game. The beer selection was good and I was able to try a few local beers that I have never had. The food menu is large with pretty much anything you could want. The artichoke dip I ordered was tasty and way to large for me to finish. The restaurant is large with plenty of bar and table seating. It seemed to have a good crowd, nothing too crazy but still a fun time. I would come back here for a meal or for a drink if I am ever in the area again.

Yelp
Had lunch there today. First off, the music was wayyyyy too loud for midday. My friend and I had to ask them to turn it down as it was difficult to have a conversation. We ordered beer. My glass was dirty with lipstick on the edge of the glass but our waitress was very apologetic and quick to get a new one. I was kind of turned off though so drank from the bottle. Check your glass. I ordered the fish and chips. Fish was a little greasy but the fries were good...hot and crispy. I thought it fairly pricey for the kind of meal we had. I would only go back on a hot hot summer day when I could sit on their roof top patio. That by far is the best part of this pub. Otherwise, I think the food and beer is definitely better in other places.

Yelp
The food is always too quality, and service is always fast. Prices aren't bad either. I highly recommend their chicken wraps, burgers, steak, and onion rings. Great drinks available here too. This is my favorite restaurant around.

Yelp
Like most Haligonians, I have been to YFM many times over the years. But I lived away for several years and just got back here again for a visit on a recent overcast, mild Monday in October around 5pm. There are dozens of tables & booths inside, plus famous rooftop patio, so the place can hold many dozens of people I would guess. Live music on the weekends. Friendly service. Simple but clean and decent décor with a large bar, lower lighting and a cozy feel, for such a big place. Decent nachos ( topped with red, green and jalapeno peppers, tomatoes, onions and a blend of three cheeses, served with salsa and sour cream. Don't see the prices on their online menu?) I found them a bit better than average because the cheese stayed stretchy instead of getting hard and dry like most places, even though that meant the chips at the bottom were soggy by the time I got to them, I rather this than the alternative. My partner tried their daily special of the Blackened Chicken Tacos ( lots of white chicken breast strips with a chipotle sauce and some veggies in a red crunchy tortilla shell, then wrapped in a white soft tortilla, for a fun texture variety and to keep it from spilling all over the place). He was happy with it. Basically, there's nothing extraordinary about this place, but safe to say you'll have an enjoyable, simple experience, enhanced of course with a drink or three. I'd say the only genuine concern I may have is that I don't see an elevator anywhere, so anyone with accessibility issues would not be able to get up the long flight of stairs to get in. May 2016 sunny Tuesday evening visit: The place was quite busy. Tried the Truffle Fries (Golden brown potato wedges, seasoned with truffle oil and topped with green onion and parmesan cheese. Served with a garlic aioli.) were ok - slightly overdone but not bad enough to complain, yet I think were $8, 9 or 10 in price? Again, there are no prices on the online menu that I can see. I wouldn't get them again. Wine bottles were a good price though, so I'd go back just for drinks anytime. Service was friendly. May 2016 overcast Saturday for brunch around 10? Very quiet and we had our choice of almost any table. Pretty good Eggs benny with thin ham slices instead of thick backbacon, and Eggs Florentine. The Hollandaise was a bit bland, as I like mine buttery and rich, but was ok. The home fries were good.
