A very happy celiac! I think about these tenders often 😂 my husband and I travel from Washington to go here. It’s amazing to have a place that is very clean and also celiac safe. And a bonus, dairy free! I usually get the 5piece and they make the best left overs! 10/10 recommend

I'm so happy this place exists! I've been gluten free for over a decade now, and let's face it... it's usually just easier to eat foods that are naturally gluten free, than to try and find a gf substitute. I've been craving fried chicken fierce, and chef Daniel did not disappoint! Holy hell, the chicken tenders were so flavorful and juicy! No dry chicken here, peeps! (Pun was not intended, but now I'm for sure leaving it 😂) My husband said this was some of the best fried chicken he has ever had... and he's not gf! Perfectly seasoned, crispy, crinkle fries with a side of tasty coleslaw rounded out our lunch. We split a 5-pc meal, and I have leftovers for dinner - score! I'm not sure what is in the secret sauce, but holy crap, that 'ish is amazing too! We also tried one of the hot sauces plus a black garlic ranch. Both were equally tasty, and I can't wait to try all the different sauces. Whether or not you are gluten free, Your Side Chicks is a MUST stop whenever you're in the area! Thank you chef Daniel! I’m not even gluten free and I eat here because the chicken quality: tenderness / juiciness / overall taste, AND the add-on flavor options (sauces and seasonings) are far superior to anywhere else.

Amazing gluten free chicken strips, fries, etc. One of the best fried chicken recipes I've ever had, but it's also gluten free. The lemonades are both amazing. Try the flavors, get the sauces. Aardvark sauce is always the best choice, imo.

Great option to get food at the Hawthorne Asylum food cart pod. They have excellent chicken. Both their tenders and fries are seasoned so well that they're tasty on their own, but they are complemented by the delicious specialty sauce. In addition, service is nice and fast, making sure to check in on you if you're waiting by the cart. Overall one of the best food carts I've been to in the Portland area.

I have to leave a review for Daniel because he’s the man! For the last ‘reviewer’ who was mad about calling when he’s closed, please calm down and maybe do a quick search on social media before trashing a business here. This is a one man show so keep an eye on instagram for updates. Okay on to the food, I’ve been gluten free 15 years and love fried chicken. I’ve had some very good gluten free chicken before- from local breweries up to $45 plates in Vegas. But this is the best. Crispy outside, moist inside, so flavorful and the breading doesn’t go soggy halfway through your meal. The fries are not an afterthought either- perfectly cooked and seasoned crinkle cut fries. And when available don’t skip the fried mushrooms! Finished with marionberry lemonade it’s a real treat!

Finally made the trip down from Vancouver, it’s not too bad when traffic is light. Delicious and worth the drive! Non gf husband said it was better than most regular chicken strips and I agree. The breading was light and the chicken was juicy. Nothing thin or dried out about these. I opted for no additional coating/seasoning and it was perfect; not too spicy or peppery and just solid flavor. Tried the ranch and secret sauce, both were great. $20 for 4 strips, fries, and 2 sauces. I was full after 2, so I had left overs. Will definitely be back in the future. Happy to have a celiac safe spot for fried chicken, would love to see a full restaurant with indoor seating down the road!

Tried this place a few weeks ago after hanging out with friends and family. We ate here while some others grabbed food from other carts and ended up being jealous. We actually made the drive back to Hawthorne just to get chicken for the Super Bowl. I got there early but Daniel already had the order stand set up and was there to chat moments later. No other fried chicken travels this well AND I totally forgot it's gluten free! Honestly can't wait to try more spices/spreads and Daniel is there to answer your flavor inquiries.

Yummmmm! We visited a few weeks ago and the food was absolutely amazing! I was able to meet the owner and he was very kind. He spent the time asking me about my day and was very genuine. Right away, you can tell that he is very passionate about his restaurant and what he serves. The chicken was perfectly cooked and so tender! The sauces were very tasty and fun. I will be going back very soon!

I was looking forward to trying your food, unfortunately the individual working closed at 1pm on mother's day. it was sunny and beautiful with tons of customers. Also no contact info on your website. And the employee left the premises.

Really enjoyed our meal this week. I went with OG spices the first time around and it was solid. I'm looking forward to trying more options soon.

Amazing food here, especially if you follow a gluten free diet. There was a mixup with my order and I ended up receiving the wrong item, the owner promptly responded to this and was very helpful and kind. Def check it out!

Daniel is a rude, incompetent, human being! I left a negative review of his business when my brother-in-law was dying 1400 miles away (in Portland) & I got hung up on twice trying to order a dying man a piece of chicken! Daniel called my home, called me by name, and proceeded to call me the B WORD and told me to F OFF. Nice friendly business person there!! HE CANNOT TAKE CRITICISM!

Absolutely killer fried chicken. From someone with family in the fried chicken biz, I can tell you this is some of the best I've ever had. Congrats chef.

We seen other people with it looked amazing till we got ours and it had tons of seasoning on it so it was super super salty, so stay with the original and maybe get a seasoning on the side. Chicken was good but as I said it was over the top too much seasoning and I am all about seasoning. I so should had gotten a pic so you could see it sorry

My dudes... this fried chicken is so on point. Cannot recommend it highly enough. It's perfect. Owner is super cool and super accommodating, and the place really has the vibe nailed down too. Don't sleep on this fried chicken!

My first time and my last time ordering this. I'm sorry y'all, but I just tried to eat my order that was delivered, and both the chicken and the fries were extraordinarily salty. Like, I had to rub as much of the breading off the chicken tenders just to eat some of it, which still was mostly inedible that I had to toss it out. I've been hearing from family members about how amazing their food is, but I had over $75 of an order delivered, and we looked at each other, amazed that this is what others say is good?? NOPE. Coming from a gluten free household, I'm really sad to eliminate one of the few options for eating out.

I love this place. I'm OBSESSED. The chicken is so good. BUT please, for the love of god, give a bigger portion of fries. The sides of crinkle cut fries are $6 and I swear to god they give you maybe 12 of them. We bought a large size, knowing this, for $10 and it was the tiniest box ever with about 20 fries. Insane. To make things worse, they're really good lol so I want more. Just please, stop charging 50 cents a fry.

Ate here for the first time yesterday with my husband after hearing great reviews for months. I'm not someone that writes reviews ever but this place is legit and the owner was super cool. I know good gluten free food is hard to find and this was worth. Every. Penny. Made my little celiac heart happy, thank you! We will be back

We tried it for the first time today and it's DELICIOUS! Super big and juicy chicken tenders, well seasoned fries, and a great secret sauce. Dedicated gluten free but you wouldn't even know it.

If this review was based on the food alone would probably rate it overall at a 3. Reason behind the one star is for the owner himself. He posted a review on his Instagram calling out a customer for leaving him a bad review making odd comments about how he didn't tip etc. The time I visited the food was decent but pricing is definitely high and they charge you a service fee and a to go fee on top of everything else including charging an additional $2 for any extra seasoning you want on your chicken / fries. Wasn't going to even leave this place a review due to me not wanting to leave a poor opinion on the pricing. Messaged him today about how posting about a clients poor review isn't a good look and it obviously triggered the man. Guy can't take feedback well obviously. There are plenty of options to get tenders in the city. If you want similar quality and don't want to be served by an asshole owner just head over to the Rambler. Plenty of other options within Hawthorne Asylum to enjoy.

Delicious GLUTEN FREE fried chicken and mushrooms! it's a one man show in a food truck so sometimes it's closed. It just makes it better when you score some of this celiac safe goodness.

Fantastic fried chicken. Great crunch, cooked perfectly, gluten and dairy free? Yes! All that and more. Super thankful to have this cart as an option! Can't wait to go back to try more spices and sauces.

Delicious seasoned fried chicken and fries in a dedicated gluten free kitchen! Amazing for celiac and gave a taste to my husband, who never would've known it was gluten free breading!
