Hip eatery with sushi & other Japanese plates, plus a bar serving craft cocktails, whiskey & sake.
"For sushi in the Arts District, head to Yu-Or-Mi. Plenty of nigiri, classic and signature rolls, and shareable appetizers make the menu, which also features plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. One standout is the citrus-cured salmon with ikura, citrus segments, olive oil, shaved onion, micro greens, and sea salt. Order a whiskey cocktail or local beer to sip alongside your meal. Also located at the Durango Casino." - Janna Karel
"This smart and stylish pocket-sized sushi bar with polished concrete floor, a shiny granite bar, and white brick walls makes its mark with a powerhouse selection of Japanese sakes and whiskeys along with a sushi menu that prizes fresh fish. For sashimi, don’t miss citrus-cured salmon with pops of ikura and tart citrus segments in olive oil." - Janna Karel
"The sports bar sits between the Cream Me Ice Creamery on Main Street and Yu-Or-Mi Sushi Bar on California Avenue." - Bradley Martin
"Partners Melissa Robinson and Johnny Lee opened Yu-Or-Mi Sushi Bar with a bar sporting high-end sake and Japanese whisky, Japanese versions of classic spirits and ingredients, and craft beers from local breweries. Chef Virakone Vongphachanh, who worked in kitchens at Wynn Las Vegas, the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, and Nobu at Caesars Palace, created the menu of sharable plates, including vegetarian and vegan options. Dishes include chicken or kama karaage, yakiniku or salmon mousse gyoza, citrus-cured salmon, truffle tako, or seared albacore to start. Larger dishes range from miso butter salmon and chicken teriyaki to yakiisoba and shoyu ramen. Specialty rolls include the namesake Yu-Or-Mi with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, shrimp, chives, masago, avocado, wrapped pickled daikon, fish flakes, and house sauce. A vegan inari roll features inari tofu, asparagus, mizuna, cucumber, avocado, sauteed mushrooms, and vegan eel sauce. The 1,400-square-foot restaurant, once planned for the first local cat cafe Meow or Never, offers seating for 44 at full capacity with windows looking out onto California Street." - Susan Stapleton
"Originally hoped to ready earlier this year, the Yu-Or-Mi Sushi Bar is moving into the currently vacant Corner Building at 1201 S. Main Street, creating a separate entrance around the corner at 100 California Street. The gutted 1,477-square-foot space, once planned for the first local cat cafe Meow or Never, will feature 11 seats at the main sushi bar and nine around a bar specializing in sake, whiskey and Japanese cocktails, plus room for 24 customers in the compact dining room." - Bradley Martin
