Yu Shan Ge

"For over 15 years, this vegetarian restaurant has been enchanting customers with dishes that satisfy all five senses and echo with the Zen-inspired décor. There are several nine-course prix fixe menus to choose from, all crafted in a Japanese kaiseki style that emphasises artistic plating. Natural flavours are accentuated with minimal seasoning and cooking. Monkey head mushrooms in black pepper sauce is a standout dish with its meat-like texture and juiciness." - Michelin Inspector

Google
I experienced a phenomenal vegerarian meal at this restaurant- possibly the best meal that I have ever had! Every course was an explosion of complex flavours. Even a dedicated meat eater could not feel any lack because the flavours were so deep and rich. The presentation was also beautiful and the service was caring, professional and attentive. It was a wonderful meal and it's amazing that they can do so many exciting things with fungi and vegetables!

Google
Unforgettable experience having a Michelin multi course dinner . We had an hour before we had to leave to the airport and happen chanced to try this restaraunt without a reservation . But we got a place and the owners were super helpful in getting our course fast so we could finish the whole meal in less than an hour and catch our flight . The food presentation and taste was excellent and highly recommend for an upscale vegan experience

Google
Amazing! The menu was spectacular: unique, tasty and well-rounded - all while being vegetarian. Aside from that, the location is beautiful and peaceful. The entire team was welcoming and helpful, guiding us through the courses. My partner is gluten intolerant and they even managed that perfectly. After 2 weeks in Taiwan, this was by far our favorite restaurant.

This is one of the best vegetarian restaurants I’ve ever tried in Taipei. I took my mother here for celebrating her birthday, and I am actually not that fond of vegetarian food. But the experience tonight broke my imagination to the so called vegetarian cuisines. Each of the cuisine is well presented in Kaiseki style, we can also feel the season in it. The flavor of the food is amazing. I must say they work hard on it that I think the vegetarian food here outweighs many of the meat food in the general restaurants. The portion is fine. For the service, the staff is friendly and helpful. However, the service speed is too fast and I think for a high-end dining experience, the pace of serving food is critical. It is not ideal when you haven’t finished one cuisine but the next one is served and put aside. Overall, it is a place worthy of revisit.

Google
Creative and delicious kaiseki style vegan food. We got the classic set (Yu Tsuan) menu ($1598NT/pp) and the chef recommended (Yu Shan) menu ($2598NT/pp). Everything was nicely flavored with great depth from natural ingredients. The konjac sashimi was pretty cool. The lion's mane mushroom steaks from both menu sets were amazing!! Also appreciated that they customized the Yu Shan set to the extent they could given our dietary restrictions towards sugar. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This is a Michelin recommended vegetarian restaurant. I usually don't like vegetables but my doctor suggested me have more veggies as my certain index are too higher. More veggies diet will help controlling them. The food are actually surprisingly tasty, but service can be better. We are guided to seat a wrong table, then serve a warm water to wash hands (but no towels). The knife and fork are asked to keep for the next dish, so rude! A lot of details to be improved. Again, veggie food is actually tasteful and beautiful at the same time

Yelp
Easy to go, nice decoration, delicious and healthy food, staff would introduce dishes one by one. Will definitely come again next time.

Yelp
In every possible way, Yu-shan-ge exceeded expectations. From the presentation, to the service, to the quiet elegance of the restaurant decor, everything was absolutely exceptional. The velvety chestnut soup dotted with black truffle and red date had a dark roasted -- almost (dare I say it?) steak-y depth to it. I texted someone during this course: "I want to die in this soup." And the courses that followed never let up, from the artistic arrangement of sushi-style tidbits, to the sesame-cashew ball crusted with lotus root and served in a little cup with a morsel of tomato hidden underneath, to the baked bamboo horn with sweet miso and pine nuts that melted in my mouth in a way I would never have thought possible for this vegetable. The main course of lion's mane mushroom infused with curry was set off brilliantly by a mound of sharp, mustard-y spiced cabbage, followed by a perfect little pink rice ball dotted with mushroom and a cup of herbal soup I never wanted to get to the bottom of. Oh, and the tea was excellent too. And my server didn't miss a trick. She kept my water glass full and rotated these gorgeous platters -- orchids! bonsai! a zen garden of crushed ice! -- on and off the table like a consummate professional. (My only quibble: the dining room was ever so slightly colder than would have been ideal for me, and I saw a couple female diners put their coats on while eating.) I've tried to eat nouvelle-cuisine vegan/vegetarian meals of this caliber in San Francisco, Berkeley, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Santa Fe, all over. Everything has always, somehow, been a little bit of a let down. Great food, maybe, but never really worth the price. Or there was a problem with the service. Or we had to wait a long time to be seated. Or maybe, in a prix fixe, one course would be amazing, and then the next one would be a let down. But this place, Yu-shan-ge, to which I ventured out on the coldest, windiest night of the coldest February in the whole history of Taipei, and where they sat me down, smiling, with no reservation, this place delivered the goods. Perhaps the finest, most nearly flawless meal I've had in my entire life. My eyes welled up when dessert came, because I knew it was almost over.

Yelp
I am not a vegetarian but this place made me fall in love in becoming a vegetarian. The food here is so delicious, I love every dish here especially it is by the course. Everything that is by the course is carefully designed and very well cooked. The food really tasted like meat but it is nothing meaty, it is all vegetables and very organic and healthy food. It is a little bit pricey that is from $NT2000 - $NT5000. But the cheapest course is already super good! The staffs here are very well trained and mannered, they will greet us every time they serve a course and tell you the history and behind the cooking process. If you are a food lover, this is the best choice!

Yelp
One of the best vegetarian restaurants with excellent service! The manager Ms Chen is particularly attentive to making sure we, a private party of ten, have our needs met. Every dish comes as a pleasant surprise. The waitress's introduction for each dish makes the dinning experience even more enjoyable and memorable. The restaurant is a must try for those interested in the "huai shi" cuisine with a Chinese presentation.

Yelp
Great vegetarian cuisine. Ambiance is nice. Price point is a little high. No alcohol. Service is excellent. Presentation is lovely. Food is get good.

Yelp
Very intimate setting, excellent service, but above all else is the imaginative, authentic, delicious meals. I loved my fibreous soup, with specific plum vinegar, the mushroom, cashew, sesame souce, and the list could go on and on. I am very happy we tried this place a great introduction to the Taiwanese cuisine.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible food which is both delicate and very good. Even though the portions look small at first, you will feel full half way through. Highly recommend.
