"The high-ceilinged dining room imparts an imposing sense of space while the gold-and-black colours and dew-like strings of pendant lamps exude drama. The kitchen team from Hong Kong reinvents Cantonese cooking with creativity. Grouper fillet poached in lobster bisque over crisp rice uses live seafood from Penghu. Cherry Valley duck is roasted in a longan wood oven and needs pre-ordering. Dim sum is served at lunch and private rooms are available." - Michelin Inspector

Can’t fault anything here to be honest, food, service and the environment are all 5 out of 5. The highlight for us was the duck - crispy skin ( no meat) wrapped in thin pancake with the hoisin sauce and battens of cucumber and spring onion whites, it’s top quality! The remaining meat was chopped and served separately, duck carcass was made into a soup dish with taro and rice vermicelli- delicious! Service was attentive and elegant. Better than starred restaurant. Highly recommend.

Having been to many Cantonese restaurants in various cities (outside of Taiwan), this one is good but not stellar, and I feel doesn't justify the very high price. The Peking duck was good. The chef paid detailed attention when carving it up, and even carved away the thin layer of fat underneath the skin. I have not seen that done in other restaurants. So that's a plus. Vegetables, as you can see, is just... A plate of vegetables. No plating or presentation here. The jellyfish cold starter dish we ordered was the same. Looked like it came off a buffet table. Diced beef dish was good. Very tender. Service was attentive. But we were given the bill without having asked for it, which seemed brash. When we inquired, we were also told there is no dessert on the house, not even a red bean soup, which is common in even mid range Cantonese restaurants. The restaurant and atmosphere itself was nice. This restaurant seems to cater to wedding banquets, company dinners, and otherwise big spenders who prefer a nice atmosphere, but not to those who truly care about having the best food.

Live up to its reputation as Michelin standard restaurant. Dishes are carefully prepared to bring out its character. Distinctive big dining hall. But still not noisy. Good sound management. 👍👍 thumbs up

Just one word, perfect. The restaurant is well placed and deserved with a car parking. Decoration is nice with a good mix of contenporan and traditional, what a great introduction of what will come next in the plates. Then the menu offers cantonese food perfectly cooked. I warmly recommend the traditional duck. Service was good and attentioned. One beautifull discovery thank to our Taiwanese friends.

Service was subpar in my opinion when it says it is a “頂級” (top) restaurant. We were just given the bill when we still had food on the table. We were NOT asked if we wanted dessert, NOT asked if we need to pack anything away. Lastly, we need to go to the reception area to pay for the bill if we need to pay by credit card. Food was very average (it’s ok if you crave for Cantonese food but it is nowhere near a top notched quality restaurant). Roast duck was ok but the one we had at Yilan was better. It cost over $2300 TWD for the duck. This was just an average quality Peking duck that we could have at home but at a higher price. We ordered a jellyfish appetizer, veggie dish and diced beef dish. The presentation of two dishes (veggie and jellyfish) looked like food court style where they just scoop out the food and place on the dish (see pictures). I even took a screenshot of what they show on their menu for the jellyfish dish. Also, we were charged for tea $60 NTD person which I never experienced at a Cantonese restaurant unless it was for lunch. Do not recommend this place.

Been there a few times and the food presentation and the service is always perfect. However, it’s on a very pricy side. Flavour wise can be hit and miss. Some great some not so great. Used to love their 稻草西施牛 with a hint of grassy taste. Yet this time it doesn’t seem to have incorporated the flavour enough … Duck is amazing but single duck won’t get you many pieces. Unlike other places they will reserve the remaining meat and no 鴨鬆 to order.

This elegant and gorgeous restaurant is one of the top Cantonese restaurants in Taichung serving traditional Southern Chinese dishes and doing it unbelievably well and with an impeccable service staff. On this visit I just came to eat some Dim Sum, and as many of you know is one of my favorite lunch style meals which I've eaten in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok, New York, San Francisco and many other places, and the dishes here are clean and hot and fabulous. There are many dishes to choose from but my usual would be the chicken feet, the shrimp dumplings, the pork dumplings, the rice noodle rolls, the radish cake, and a few other traditional dishes. As Cantonese food is known for, the flavors are bold and intense and satisfying, and should be accompanied by a pot of Pu Er Ju Hua tea. (Puer Chrysanthemum) Note to the Chef: The BBQ pork buns came with a side of dark powder which turned out to be Oreo cookie powder, a few pieces of stale popcorn, and some not so fresh flowers, apparently edible. In my humble opinion, if condiments are served on a plate and they are edible, they should be of as high a quality as the actual dish itself. FYI.

Yelp
DELICIOUS! OMG! Peiking Duck - VERY VERY VERY GOOD. Quality meat and crispy skin. Stir Fry Turnip Cake - also delicious perfect texture. Char su bun - very very good the bun is light and fluffy. Char su puff - I'd stick with Chad su bun as the puff was on the thicker side and little dry. (still better than other places though) Radish Puff - very good as well but also thicker puff. Tofu Skin wrap shrimp - crispy and thin wrap cooked to perfection! Golden something bun (dessert) must get! I would come back again for sure the menu is extensive wish I have 10 stomach to try everything!

Yelp
HANDS DOWN BEST Cantonese food I have ever had in Taiwan. Because of the numerous choices of food, I highly recommend going with as big of a group of people as possible to be able to try as much food as possible! The restaurant is still very new and VERY spacious and clean. Most tables are big tables because they cater to large groups for family and businesses, and the ambience is nice with high ceilings and modern decoration. I recommend reserving seats beforehand since the restaurant is very popular and is always filled with people, even during lunch hours. To our surprise, every single dish we ordered (which were also recommended by the waiters) was delicious. And we ordered A LOT since we had a group of 8. The plating for each food was interesting and different, unlike what I've seen in Taipei, and the taste was definitely not disappointing (again, unlike what I've eaten in Taipei). It's hard to say what dish I liked most because everything had me going back for seconds and thirds! I would definitely go back again if I visit TaiChung again, and would love to try the other dishes as well as eat the same ones. *Refer to my pictures* SIMPLY PUT: ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS AND SO WORTH GOING IF YOU ARE IN TAICHUNG! If only they had a chain in Taipei or anywhere else in Taiwan!

Yelp
This was first place I had dinner in Taichung in Taiwan. Contemporary design in and out place look very nice. Food was really good. Must try Dim sum and Soup.
