UPDATE to answer Ben:
Were you or were you not the hosts of AstrudAurelia, 3IDragon, and more bands tonight? Don't try to gaslight me. I was just as perplexed to see dozens of bags inside after being told "because of the political climate, I haven't let anyone inside with a bag so they must have come in before me" only to WATCH him let another girl in and then be told "well she doesn't look like she's going to kill someone" so apparently I was specifically discriminated against...because I'm tall? currently bald? born male? wearing lipstick and earrings? I'd love to know but unfortunately instead of answers I was told to leave. Great "security" ya got! Should be called "Insecurity" for how much your "guards" are full of it. After reading your 1* reviews I realized I shouldn't be surprised...putting the YUCK in YUCKA.
*************
Unfortunately, despite being a "haven" for LGBTQIA+, they happily employ transphobic and homophobic staff.
I came tonight with a purse no bigger than 10.5x7in at the bottom and 9.5x7in at the top, and...was told they have a "no bag policy". Half an hour in, it occurred to me that almost every woman had a purse: a few considerably larger than mine, and most others a little smaller in what they could feasibly hold -- but around the same size or only slightly smaller in aesthetic.
I asked someone to go with me for moral support, and asked the employee what was up with the discrepancy. Right after defensively responding that Yucca is reputably non-discriminatory to the LGBTQIA+ community, a cishet looking lady walked in with a bag. We looked right back at him and asked him if there was actually a rule or if it was just a double standard and his response was exactly what you, dear enlightened reader, are expecting...
"If you want to argue, you can leave. I don't want to deal with this."
That is correct. When asked to verify why choices were made, the employee had no response. Just toxic authority, abusing the authority to avoid being honest.
The cruel irony is we live in a right to serve state, if they want to be honest about their discrimination, the only thing stopping them is guilt.
Needless to say, I will never be back, and I will be preaching to all of my LGBTQIA+ friends and allies that Yucca is REGRESSING...and apparently proudly!
