Google
Service was Great, friendly and professional We started with Egg rolls as they sounded interesting and were a cross between a traditional Egg roll and a Crab Puff, very GOOD. The Shelly roll and Spicy Scallop was Excellent. I got the cold Saki (get the more expensive one by the glass) and my wife did a Chardonnay and both were pleased with our selection. Tried the 'special desert of the day', friend Cheesecake. Tasted like a ricotta based instead of NY Cheese cake, and was good.

Google
A Hidden Gem with Rolls That Rock the Boat 🍣⛵ Yes, there was a wait - but oh, was it worth it. Yugen Sushi doesn’t play by the usual rules. Their menu is a perfect mix of budget-friendly hand rolls and jaw-droppingly good deluxe specials. My advice? Go with a blend. You’ll want the crunch of the Volcano Roll and the bold, rich flavor of the Godzilla Roll - both absolute standouts. The fish was incredibly fresh, the presentation (served on a wooden boat!) was a showstopper, and every bite was balanced, textured, and packed with flavor. The staff was kind and gracious, even apologizing multiple times for the delay. But here’s the kicker: I ordered six rolls, and the bill was just $62. For this quality? Practically unheard of. Quality, creativity, and value. Highly recommend.

Google
Great food, setvice is stellar, music selection was chef's kiss. Order the ceviche on wonton you'll thank me later.

Google
The happy hour is a great deal! The service is awesome, thank you David!! Everything was delicious! We had the edamame, pot stickers (my favorite) and mussels. We ordered some sushi as well and they were big and very yummy!! Great place for the happy hour or just going for a sushi dinner. First time there so didn't really look at the rest of the menu. But if what we had is any indication of what to expect from the rest of the menu, you will not be disappointed!!!

Google
The meal that you’re looking at cost me $40. The drink which is no larger than a Dixie cup was the “large Diet Coke” that cost me 3 to 4 dollars. When I asked why the drink was so small he said we’re out of cups. The food in the picture was enough for an appetizer let alone a full meal. I don’t know how they’re getting away with charging $40 for this amount of food. Extremely disappointing.

Google
Food was delicious. We had several different types of sushi and I liked them all. Service was great. They were short staffed but they made sure everyone was taken care of. Their plating was very appealing to the eye. Food came out quickly and was very fresh.

Google
Extremely overrated sushi. The outside looks nice but the inside gave me a Chuck E. Cheese sushi vibe. They charge $26 for 6 slices of sashimi which is absolutely outrageous. I lived in Los Angeles for 6 years where everything is notoriously overpriced and none of the nice sushi restaurants there even charge that much for sashimi. You would hope that at least the quality/service/atmosphere would reflect their high price point but the entire experience was subpar. It’s a complete scam to eat here. Gross sticky tables and water served in scratched up, cheap plastic cups (they can’t even provide nice drinking glasses?) The fish tasted old. Waiters had an attitude like they were miserable, and it took me over 20 minutes just to get my food. Would not ever come here again. I guarantee all the positive reviews are from people who don’t know anything about sushi because this was truly horrible.

Google
My girlfriend and I arrived into South Lake Tahoe to celebrate her birthday weekend and absolutely loved this place. The server had only been there for about a month but directed us through the menu like a pro. The food was amazing, great presentation from start to finish! I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for years and I honestly wouldn’t post reviews unless I felt the need to. This was one of those times! Great job all around I highly recommend to anyone that’s looking for some great sushi :)

Yelp
OMG -- I don't think I'll be able to look at AYCE sushi the same anymore. After a day at the lake we didn't have set plans for a birthday dinner & walked in & were seated right away. The place is cute, the outdoor seating was lovely and the staff was welcoming and professional throughout, which we really enjoyed. And as Reno native, this was not an AYCE restaurant & the sushi was phenomenal & reasonably priced. We ordered a miso soup, nigiri, 5 long rolls & 2 hand rolls & all were great! (Seriously the best miso soup & freshest seafood ever, especially the salmon skin hand roll). A couple downsides: the wait, which isn't so much a downside when all the food was amazing! & the veggie Mega mushroom roll, unfortunately it was pretty tasteless. We love mushroom & we were expecting it to have more flavor/taste and it didn't have much, if any. Overall, I would highly recommend this place! Great food & birthday experience overall.

Yelp
We visited Yugen Cuisine expecting a smooth dinner, but the service timing made the experience disappointing. Our dishes arrived at different moments and we could not enjoy the meal together. My dad's ramen took so long that everyone else had already finished by the time his plate showed up. We asked the server a couple of times and she only said it was on the way. Nobody warned us that his dish would take much longer than the rest. When it finally arrived, there was no apology. She just said that ramen takes time, which felt dismissive after such a long wait. The food was fine, but the lack of communication and care from the staff made the whole visit feel off. It would help a lot if the restaurant served dishes together and let customers know about delays before everyone is left waiting.

John T.

Yelp
Under staffed. Definitely not the cleanest place we been to. Watching them prepare the food looks like a lot of stuff is pre maid then microwave. My whole family felt the same way definitely a let down.

Yelp
I was craving something light and fresh so we thought sushi would be perfect. Driving up the surroundings are so pretty and peaceful. They have indoor and outdoor seating options. The hostess gave us the option of what we would prefer. We went inside because it was a little cooler in the available outdoor tables due to them being more shaded. It seemed all their actual rolls except one or 2 had tempura or tempura crunchy pieces in them. I get it adds fun texture, but I get gnarly acid reflux from fried food. I ended up going with nigiri instead. They had this nigiri combo option. I at first got excited as I thought you could try 5, 7 or 9 types of nigiri. Kind of like a tasting some spots do. However you can only pick 3 kinds regardless of how much. I should have done 7 instead of 9. They are generous with the size of their nigiri, and I've become accustomed to ayce portions which tend to run smaller. I got unagi, ikura, and their rooster salmon nigiri. The rooster salmon was my favorite. It had raw salmon and on top spicy crab, lemon, and jalapeño. Very flavorful and fresh. Be prepared to unhinge your jaw slightly to eat it as it's large. Unagi was solid, not as sauced as I normally receive it. The ikura was OK, but I've had better quality where the shape was more perfectly round. I expect that from an a la carte place. They also dont season the eggs like some spots do with sake which doesnt give you any room to hide quality. For a salad I ordered the seared tuna salad which I also underestimated. It was massive! Huge amount of fresh greens that are lightly dressed in a creamy ponzu dressing that had a hint of spice. They had mango, carrots and lemons in it as well which kept the salad refreshing and bright, while the dressing rounded out the flavors. My fiance got the house salad with the carrot ginger dressing which I normally love, but theirs was crazy salty. For appetizers we got the baked green muscles. They were some of the best I ever had. Not overcooked like some spots and the flavor was so good. I havent had them dressed with that kind of sauce before. Usually its more creamy, but I really liked it! Overall they had some really yummy items with a few things that didnt totally hit. I'd for sure go again, and order the items I really enjoyed.

Yelp
We come for the happy hour and it is quite reasonable for apps, rolls and wine/beer. The only kicker is that it runs from 4-5 pm which is kind of in between meals. But you can't beat the prices!!

Yelp
The rolls are beautiful and delicious! One of my favorites is the escolar nigiri and the fire roll. Quick and friendly service. Love the space and the outdoor seating.

Yelp
We loved it, sat at the sushi bar and made it in time for happy hour :-) fresh seafood , quaint ambience and friendly service - "top drawer" establishment. We enjoyed the ceviche, edamame, mussels, pink lady and Fuji mountain rolls - hot sake, tea and mochi- congratulations! We'll be back sooner than later :-)
google avatar

Katie L.

Yelp
got the tuna and salmon sashimi, rainbow and spicy scallop handroll and the Kuroshio roll! they gave us some complimentary hamachi Kama which had a great sauce on top as well! The handrolls were great, can't go wrong with a spicy scallop handroll and tried an interesting and new to me roll they have called kuroshio which had fried dumpling stuffed inside! the sushi was fresh and flavorful. the server was really nice, she helped me recommend which roll to get and was really patient with us while ordering to explain different rolls and menu items

Yelp
Soooo good!!! My husband and I came twice in one visit! Miso soup is the best I've ever had. Sushi comes out on boats, the service is amazing. Civeche is the best I've ever had which is strange not coming from a Mexican restaurant

Yelp
This place was a very pleasant discovery! We have sushi often locally and were hoping that we could have a new staple for when we visit South Lake and Yugen absolutely delivered. This had a very classic sushi restaurant feel inside. It was clean and wasn't too loud even though they were quite busy. The service was great, our server was really friendly and the food came out in good time. We ordered 3 sushi rolls and each of them was delicious. The fish tasted fresh, and the ingredients in the rolls were really well balanced. The rolls had the perfect ratio of sauce and each roll had its own unique flavor. We finished every last bite! Definitely recommend this place for sushi in Tahoe, we will be back on our next trip for sure!

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience at Yugen Cuisine. Our family of five ordered the gyoza appetizer, three kids' meals, and four rolls, and everything was excellent and try service was as great! The ingredients tasted fresh and healthy, and the kids really enjoyed their meals. It's not always easy to find a place where the whole family leaves happy, but this was one of them. We'll definitely be coming back next time we're in South Lake Tahoe.

Yelp
They got a a sweet location and I was up for Sushi after a short flight and long drive from Reno. First warning signing a Japanese sushi place without Chirashi and once I saw the chef and waiters mystery solved. We got Tempura must be an interpretation from the chef... can't remember ever coming with the sauce it came, disappointing. The sashimi while the fish was good I never seen such thick as poor cuts against the grain, what a sad ending to some good fish. The roll was a handroll not what we expected. Good potential terrible execution, should have just gone to five guys or Chipotle down the street

Yelp
Stopped by Yugen Cuisine while visiting Tahoe and had a pleasant experience overall. The food was decent -- nicely prepared, though not particularly standout -- but what really made the visit memorable was the service. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and offered excellent sake recommendations that really complemented the meal. The restaurant itself is quite small and better suited for couples or small groups rather than big parties, but they do offer outdoor seating, which is a nice option, especially in good weather. It's a cozy spot with great service, and I'd definitely consider coming back the next time I'm in Tahoe!

Yelp
What I Ordered: Tuna Tartare White Tuna, Hamachi, Eel Sashimi Octopus and Eel Nigiris Several Rolls 6.5/10
google avatar

Chanbo C.

Yelp
Lowkey fire, especially for Lake Tahoe. We ordered sashimi (otoro, salmon, scallops), nigiri (escolar, amaebi, and mackerel) and rolls (Tom and Ichiban) plus we also ordered shoyu ramen and gyoza for the kids. Everything was delicious especially the scallops! I would try new rolls next time though

Yelp
This Asian restaurant opened several years ago in the ashes of a favorite South Lake Tahoe spot of mine - Blue Angel Cafe. I always loved the spot with the inviting fireplace and bar. I've visited this restaurant now several times over the last 4 years and - I have to say it's a very good choice for dinner in SLT. First - Happy Hour is legitimate here. Great deals, no waiting and great food! Check it out. Second - I fed my family of 4 a sushi / Japanese dinner for less than $150. This is an accomplishment! The food was very good, the service at the restaurant was pleasant and attentive. The restaurant was very busy for a Saturday night, primetime, but thankfully, there is a waitlist on their website that you can sign up for so that when you get to the restaurant, there's no waiting at all - if you time it right. Tonight's favorites were the spider roll, Cal-rainbow roll, and the gyoza. I have to be honest, I'm spoiled. I live in the San Francisco Bay area, and I get pretty amazing nigiri and sashimi. We had some nigiri - and it was decent but not my favorite. But for South Lake, it's probably pretty good. I have to admit that a lot of the food in South Lake Tahoe leaves me wanting more and wanting to feel more healthy. This place does accomplish most of that. It's a good spot to go to when visiting the area, I'm not sure how the locals feel about it in comparison to their choices, but I do enjoy it.

Yelp
Incredible vegetarian sushi options - better than any I've had back home in Chicago. Wish I could eat here more regularly. Appreciated how much thought was put into preparing each one - they were each different and unique. We tried 4 of the vegetarian rolls and even those in our group who generally don't like sushi, actually enjoyed these rolls.

Yelp
Hands down the best sushi place we go to. We have been here many times. Great service, delicious food, wonderful ambiance. My favorite roll is Fajita Roll, favorite appetizer Ceviche.
google avatar

Jacquie H.

Yelp
Fantastic happy hour experience! I found the restaurant on yelp due to it being near our hotel & a recommendations from someone staying at our hotel to attend happy hour. Eating out especially in new places is hard due to my son having a garlic & onion food allergy. We let our server know when we sat down of his food allergy and he was alert in making sure his food was free of sauces and letting us know ingredients to avoid. The presentation of our rolls made our meal memorable because who doesn't want sushi rolls in a boat?? Also the little detail of the two cucumber flowers holding the wasabi & ginger! We will definitely make this a regular visit spot when we're in Tahoe.

Yelp
When I see Japanese food at these prices, I would jump to think and not expect too much... I guess that's what coming from the Bay Area will do to you... Yugen comes as a surprise as I find them really reasonably priced, and a bargain for the quality of the food and drinks they serve... they have a pretty good selection of rolls, and entrees... despite not having a full bar, their beer and wine choices aren't bad and you might have a good cocktail once in a while...I really loved my orange creamsicle cocktail... Services was prompt and attentive.. the few times I've been here, they've always seemed packed, but I feel like they manage it well. I love that they have a great space both indoors and outdoors... perfect for either warm summers or chilly winters... I wish though they had more happy hour windows as I always miss them...lol.. If you crave Japanese food and you're in SLT, definitely Yugen would be my top pick.

Yelp
My husband ordered Salmon Nigiri and a hand held. He said they were good, but nothing Wow! We shared the Tempura Veggies and they were very tasty. I ordered the Lilly Roll which was good, but nothing Wow great. Service was very good, the food was average. Ambience relaxed and clean.

Abby B.

Yelp
We were so happy to find such a delicious sushi place while we were vacationing in South Lake Tahoe! The rolls were so fresh, the service was outstanding, and can't beat the prices (especially during their happy hour!) The food was so good, we actually came back the very next day because we wanted to try more things from their awesome menu :) We will definitely be back the next time we are in town :)
google avatar

Gina L.

Yelp
The service was good / you have the choice of sitting inside or out . If you're in North Lake ; this is the best sushi and tempura I've had in a long time . Delicious and fresh . Beautiful presentation.
google avatar

Ryan Schiestel C.

Yelp
Amazing Sushi and more in South Lake Tahoe. Pepper FinTuna and Typhoon. If you want some great stuff and not Naked Fish, this is your place in SLT!
google avatar

Jenifer N.

Yelp
Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful in helping me narrow down the sashimi and hand roll options. Hamachi and Shiro maguro were spectacular!
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
Yugen was just ok...We were definitely disappointed because a local had recommended this place. Maybe they were just having a bad day, but the service was slow af, and the server seemed overwhelmed. Also, I would recommend that you sit outside, because it was super stuffy inside and they don't seem to use air conditioning inside, which is a little concerning because they're working with raw fish at the sushi bar. In terms of the food...the fish on the nigiri was not very fresh and the katsu entree was barely edible. They really need to rethink the breading they use on the katsu because it was more like a baked pork cutlet than katsu. The spicy tuna roll was a little better but nothing spectacular. Fortunately we had also ordered a couple of deluxe rolls that the server had recommended(fire roll and the fuji mountain roll) and those were actually not bad. Also, the plastic plates and dishes were not very clean. Definitely not the worst I've seen, it was far from what I would consider acceptable. If you check the back of the plates, you'll see what I'm talking about. I'm just not a fan of plastic plates at restaurants because they are super difficult to clean. Yugen is supposed to be one of the better sushi spots in the area, but I can't see how this is possible. The food and the service were mediocre at best. If you do happen to come here, I would recommend just sticking to the deluxe rolls. 2.5 stars rounded up to 3 stars
google avatar

Ly L.

Yelp
I was in search of kid friendly meals that didn't involve fast food or fries. I saw that Yugen had some good options for the kiddos and decently priced so we decided to do a pick up because I saw the waitlist had 19 parties/76 people at 5pm! I ordered the tiger ($19.75) and spider (18.75) rolls as well as teriyaki chicken ($8.75) and katsu chicken ($8.75) kids meals. The menu says the kids meals come with rice, edamame and mochi dessert, that's a pretty balanced meal for them I thought. My husband picked up the order and the place was soooo packed, I'm glad we didn't dine in. When we opened up the orders, I immediately noticed no mochi desserts for the kids meals and the rolls were very small. The rolls were good but portions were ridiculous. Maybe I'm used to the Bay Area sushi spots we frequent but I expected more. The kids teriyaki chicken and katsu chicken were incredibly dry, I felt so bad for making them eat it :( Forgot to snap a photo of our rolls but I did get the kids chicken meals. Definitely not a place I'd return to but if you go, make sure you get on that waitlist!
google avatar

Jack L.

Yelp
If you come during happy hour (before 5 pm), the pricing is great as each roll is $10 and the drinks are around $4-5. The outdoor seating with all the nice greenery provides a calming and pleasant ambiance too. Unfortunately, the food itself was just mediocre. The rice falls apart from the sushi the flavor itself was didn't impress that much. I guess since there's not a lot of great competition in this area that you can't expect way too much. Probably a good spot mainly for hanging out and getting drinks.
google avatar

Maya S.

Yelp
My siblings and I were visiting the area and decided to grab sushi at Yugen. They do not take reservations but you can join the waitlist online ahead of time. The food was absolutely delicious!! The fish was so fresh and the salmon was especially buttery. Highly recommend the Fuji Mountain roll - but all our rolls were delicious! Service was incredibly fast, sushi and other dishes came out in 10 minutes, maybe even less. Our waitress was very sweet as well! Food is reasonably priced especially for the quality. Will absolutely return if I'm in the area!
google avatar

Regan C.

Yelp
The food was amazing the presentation was awesome the service was on point sushi usually takes a long time to serve for big groups but it took under 15 minutes so overall it was a good experience and I would definitely go again‼‼

Yelp
Accidental recommendation sent us here it seems... gr8 people, location AND food! Wish there weren't limits on these.

Yelp
Okay, sushi in Lake Tahoe right?! I feel like if you are someone who comes from a major city with yummy food, it's kind of hard to think that sushi would taste good in Lake Tahoe?! This place came with big portions, they do not skimp on the fish yall!! I loved their handrolls the most, and I live in the bay area and sushi can be expensive but this place was super affordable. I visited place x2 on my tahoe trip and would gladly come again! Hidden gem!
google avatar

Yelp
First night in Lake Tahoe and we were hoping to find something that offered local fish perhaps from the lake itself. When we couldn't find that, I searched for best ranked restaurants in Yelp and Yugen came up. This restaurant is located on a picturesque street surrounded by tall pines and firs. Restaurant is warm and inviting. It has a mix of traditional 2 and 4 top tables, the sushi bar itself and hi tops. Now we love sushi however my wife has severe allergies though to shrimp , crab and lobster so we always tell the server of our food allergies however my wife generally comes out with an itchy throat and other allergy symptoms. Not this time. Our server Katie did a phenomenal job of letter the sushi chefs know to not use the same knives when cutting. We had some nigiri, a rainbow roll, and a bonsai roll, as well as a miso soup and a salad with sliced cucumber, daikon radish that was spiral cut to look like rice noodles and rice vinegar. Everything was top notch and we are so thankful for the care shown to my wife's allergies . Thank you Katie and Yugen staff!!
google avatar

Bill G.

Yelp
Wow have lived in northern Nevada 54 years. My family love great Sushi nigiri is our favorite and for that this is the place to come. Beautiful fish so fresh and tasty. Service was provided by Danni a very cute, efficient and professional waitress. Looking forward to our next visit for the best Sushi around!!
google avatar

Maybeline C.

Yelp
This place is definitely mediocre at best. The quality of the sushi is not that great nor does it seem fresh, everything seems to be covered in sauce to hide the bad quality of the fish. This is definitely not a true Japanese sushi restaurant as they don't even know how to cut fish, the fish had grain it which meant they cut it with grain rather than against it, what a waste of fish. Another thing is the inside of the restaurant is pretty warm despite outside being cool, and I say this because warm environment and raw seafood is not a good combo. The service is horrible, we waited over 15 min for them to clean a table, then 1 1/2 hr for our food, which the food was not good, rice was mushy and fish/scallops did not taste right, we ate a few pieces and just asked for our tab. Our server was non existent, barely checked on us, told us food was coming but never came until 30min later, no water refills, and no other servers checked on us either. I get better service at a drive through than here. People who came after us got their food, and we were still waiting...and they did nothing about it but just offered us free miso or drinks like wth. We were very unsatisfied with this place and will not be coming back. Overrated and Overhyped food, super poor service and long waits, so don't waste your money and just go somewhere else.

Yelp
We really enjoyed this sushi place! The wings were good and so was the edemame. The sushi was made fresh and it reminded me of a sushi place I used to go to in my hometown. Would definitely recommend! It was not pretentious and the service was very nice. The vibe is laid back.

joan C.

Yelp
Utterly disappointed Not sure where to start Food: meh. Skimpy wine pour But that's just the beginning Had to remind our server about numerous things Everything was tolerable until there was a giant Long hair at the bottom of the chicken teriyaki bowl. But where was our server to let her know? Took quite a while to flag her and when we did she walked right past us. When finally she graces us with her presence, she became quite indignant at fact there was A HAIR IN OUR FOOD! I could go on but you get the point. Yes we were comped the meal and that may have been sufficient but the attitude we were given was irreproachable. We will not be returning and that's a shame since it so convenient since it's right around the corner from where we often stay.

Kelley J.

Yelp
Great food! Great service! A sweet gem hidden on ski run road! Reasonably priced!!! Second time! Will go there every time we come to South Lake Tahoe!

Elisa S.

Yelp
The best sushi in Tahoe!! Service is great and the place is very welcoming. The food was amazing!

Yelp
Best sushi spot I have been in my life. Went here for an anniversary and my wife was very happy too. Will be going back every time I visit Tahoe.

Yelp
Had a nice experience dining here while we were in town for my moms birthday. It's a small restaurant and we were a group of 11 so I was worried they'd be annoyed to seat us for being a big group but they weren't at all. They were super patient with our group and kept a smile on their faces the whole time so I really appreciated that! Presentation of the food was so cute (my kids rolls came in a shark plate and the adults rolls came in a giant boat). All the food we had was delicious!! I was very pleased with the whole experience and I felt the price was so reasonable so that was another huge plus. I'd definitely love to eat here again when we're in the area!

Vanessa V.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. The sushi lives up to the name--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The tea is so good (don't skip it!), and the service is genuinely warm and welcoming. You can tell the staff cares. Bonus points for the music--chill, not too loud, and just the right vibe in the background. Whether you're dining solo or bringing friends, this spot is a gem.

Yelp
Visiting South Lake Tahoe from Bay Area, we saw this place craving for Japanese food. Inside and outside, great. Looks clean and the people who works here especially our server were really friendly and helpful. I would give them 5 stars if I can. Plating was good, food taste was disappointing though. You can't really taste the octopus from the Takoyaki. Pork and Chicken Katsu was dry, chewy almost taste like it was just reheated from the day before. Shoyu Ramen was far from what we expected, the pork on the ramen have some sort of after taste which sometimes indicate meat is not fresh anymore.
google avatar

Monica O.

Yelp
We were so excited to find this sushi spot in Tahoe! Our server was absolutely phenomenal and she was very attentive and kind throughout the course of our dinner. We ordered the miso soup, takoyaki, and many rolls of sushi that arrived on a cute little boat. The sushi was fresh and we ended the meal with the tempura green tea ice cream (always delicious). It gets a bit busy in the evening but if you arrive a bit on the early side it's possible to be seated at a reasonable hour. Overall, we had a lovely dinner and would come back again soon!

Hailee M.

Yelp
Great! Been coming here for years and this place never disappoints. The wait is long but worth it. The online waitlist was super useful. The sushi is delicious and well priced.

Gary T.

Yelp
We visited Yūgen a few years ago and considered it one of the top sushi restaurants in SLT. This visit was a disappointment. The price went up but quantity and quality went way down especially the quality and freshness of the fish. The hamachi was mushy and unrecognizable both texture and taste. The rainbow roll did not showcase the color and freshness of the fish and had to hide inside the rice... too bad! Not sure if we're going to comeback to see if it was a one-time miss.

Yelp
Street parking was easy. There was a lot of open parking on the street. It was a nice crisp sunny afternoon. Wait to be seated (the wait was not long as we were seated immediately and asked if we wanted to dine outside or inside) - dining outdoors is really nice! Lots of options on the menu, you really cannot go wrong here I don't think - come hungry! Ordered / Shared: - Poké Tuna (shared - looked amazing and tasted just as amazing! great appetizer) - Miso Soup (didn't try, friend had it, but she drank the whole bowl) - Bonsai Roll (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, radish shoots, avocado, & tobiko wrapped in cucumber - no rice) - Hamachi Roll (traditional roll, but huge in size - so good!) - Tiger Roll (tempura shrimp and cucumber with avocado and unagi on top) - Maui Roll (tuna and lettuce in a crispy panko - no rice) Everything exceeded my expectations - from service, presentation, size, and taste. Everything was great and would definitely come back next time I am in the area craving sushi or Japanese food in general because their menu is extensive where they do offer plates and traditional and non-traditional items. I usually order traditional sushi when I have it, but I decided to go out of the box with their menu as I realized they offered many unique options that sounded and looked really good to try.

Yelp
Visited Friends in Tahoe and they wanted sushi I was a little reluctant. Being a kind of fresh seafood snob from Gulf Coast I have to confess I was soooooooo wrong about Yugen Cuisine. Everything we ate, the service and the setting of the restaurant was off the charts......The crab and shrimp egg rolls were unreal good along with the sushi and the lobster and Godzilla rolls were special....Our waiter David was the best we had on a trip of 5 weeks. Wait did I mention we ate outside with our Irish Terrier and the seating was great, quiet, clean and 77 degrees.....Will geaux back if ever in Tahoe again.
