"With three locations across Los Angeles (Koreatown, Gardena, and San Gabriel), it’s never been easier to settle into a bowl of Yuk Dae Jang’s signature Korean beef noodle soup. The level of spice is customizable for every serving that also includes shredded beef and a choice of either curly ramen noodles or house-made “pasta.”" - Cathy Chaplin, Eater Staff

"Arguably Gardena’s favorite Korean restaurant, this packed chainlet offers yukgaejang, or spicy Korean noodle soup, with a hearty bone broth and optionally with knife-cut wheat noodles. The menu offers other specialties like army base stew (for three people) and bossam platters. Anyone living in the South Bay can skip the trek to Koreatown now." - Eater Staff

A Refreshing Change from Korean BBQ This Korean restaurant offers something different—delicious noodle soup with seafood instead of the usual BBQ. The taste is absolutely on point—fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Highly recommended to try!

It's easy to tell that restaurants serving delicious homemade kimchi also offer other tasty dishes. The menu and interior are simple, but sufficient.

I got the brisket seullongtang. The broth was very flavorful and unsalted, so you can season to your content. I'm not a fan of shredded brisket so I'm thinking to try the galbi tang next time. My wife got the vegetarian mushroom soup, and the lady warned us it'd be bland, and it was, lol. You'll need to add salt. There was three banchan: fish cake (normal), kimchee (crispy and refreshing), and a very yummy chive salad. They were overall good banchan to eat with the soups to compliment the flavors. I found a small fly (1 cm length) in my brisket soup, so the lady gave me 50% off my soup. The lady was very friendly and helpful, and she was always happy to refill our banchan.

My go-to place for spicy Yukgaejang hot pot. White beef soups are also good but You should definitely try the spicy one first.

Google
Food: This restaurant establishment (and all of its locations) provide excellent Korean food. The Sullungtang, Yukgaejang, Bossam, and Ddeokguk are just a few dishes that are phenomenal. I have tried almost half the menu and all were amazing. Depending on my mood I alternate between Sullungtang, Ddeokguk, Yukgaejang, or Bossam. Service: Service is great with friendly staff. Ambiance: Modern and cozy ambiance. Fits parties of 1-8. Clean and well-maintained, the restaurant offers comfortable seating. Price per person: ~$16-20

Google
Its my first time ordering from here. I called and ordered two originals with the handmade noodle, the person taking my order was very friendly said it would be ready in 10 minutes. So we drove there to pick it up and it was ready. It stayed hot on the drive back home. The noodles, fish cake and kimche came separated like in the pictures shown below. The noodles were so fresh and soft. They had a bit to them still too and absorbed the broth. The broth was a little spicy and thick. The meat was yummy. The fish cakes were chewy and the kimche was crunchy. Definitely want to try this place again and try the pork belly.

Google
Had the spicy beef soup because it seems to be the signature dish, and although it's pretty good, can't say that it's amazing. The soup can use just a bit more salt and the beef is the shredded stringy kind. Still, I think the restaurant is promising and I'll be back to try to beef rib plate and the boiled pork belly, those look good on the menu.

Google
Korean spot serving up various stew/hot pot options. They serve alcohol as well. Came here on a Wednesday night around 6:30pm and there was no wait. Outdoor covered dining as well as indoor dining is available. Credit cards are accepted. There’s a small parking lot. There’s a single occupant restroom available in the back right hand side. Dogs were allowed inside the restaurant. They provide kimchi and fish cakes as appetizers. The food came out in plastic containers which was convenient for packing up our doggie bag. We got the army style hot pot which came with noodles, spam, rice cake, sausages, and some veggies. It was a mildly spicy broth and a tad too salty, but overall it was a filling meal. It’s more than enough for two people to have their fill plus have some leftovers. You have a choice of white or purple rice.

Yelp
We ordered the cold buckwheat noodles and the yukgaejang. Both dishes were decent but didn't quite live up to our expectations. The flavors were there, but nothing particularly stood out. The three side dishes were good, though there wasn't much variety. They complemented the meal adequately but weren't anything special. The prices were reasonable, which was a plus. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant, with a nice interior and good vibes. The service was satisfactory; the staff was polite and attentive, but nothing noteworthy. Overall, it was an average dining experience. The food was okay, the service was fine, and the ambiance was nice, but it didn't leave a lasting impression

Yelp
Korean penicillin. At least, that's what my Mark claims. He craved a spicy soup to try and battle a head cold that so far has eliminated a box of Kleenex and a good amount of Tylenol. His misery made it easy for me to make the trip to pick up a bowl of YukGaeJang original with Ramen, extra spicy, of course. I hoped the soup, both red hot and red in color, would rid the ill spirits out of his body...and it may have done that. Apart from the gosari being a bit tough to eat (it was fairly simple to pluck it out), he enjoyed the soup for 2 meals. I liked that I got a small break from cooking, but honestly, I missed the heavenly aromas from the kitchen when there's cooking going on. I ordered online and made the drive to Gardena to pick it up. Simple, no fuss, no nonsense either, I was in and out in 9 seconds. Plus, I was greeted with a smile, and the sweet lady behind the counter didn't bat an eye when I politely asked her to teach me the proper way to pronounce "yukgaejang". If another cold makes its appearance, he would likely visit again for another round of the original soup. I'm not a huge fan of $29 price tag (his order was just soup that comes with petite sides/banchan of kimchi and fish cake), but these days, prices are what they are. Could I teach myself to make this soup? Probably, but then I'd have to do the dishes. Go here for the convenience, but stay for the tasty original spicy YukGaeJang.

Yelp
Food: this is one of my favorite Korean restaurant chains, the Gardena location is so close to where my family lives, and we come here fairly often. Everytime, the food is consistent and delicious, really hits the spot for Korean comfort food craving. My favorite is the yukgaejang kalgooksu, which is a great mixture of hot spicy soup and yummy chewy noodles. If I come with a group, then we also order bossam to share with others, the meat is always so juicy and tender. Price: the yukgaejang costs about $18-20, whereas bossam costs about $18-47 depending on the size of the plate. Sorta pricey, but their portions are huge, and I always take the rest for to go, it makes a very nice second meal Ambiance: located within a mostly Korean-centered outdoor shopping plaza, the restaurant itself is fairly small with only about 6 ish tables inside. But had no trouble getting seated, never had to wait too long. Family friendly environment with comfort foods, but not ideal for date nights. Service: great and very attentive, checking in on us to make sure we have everything we need. Parking, the shopping plaza has ample parking spaces in various corners, had no trouble finding a spot every time I came here

Simon S.

Yelp
Was craving some Korean food and stopped by after flying into LAX. We ordered the Korean ox bone soup and a large order of pork belly. The restaurant only has about 6 tables but service was fast and it shares a large parking lot with some other restaurants. Food came with some side dishes that were all tasty and the portions were more than enough for 2 people. The bossam comes with a bunch of its own sides like cabbage, jalapeños, garlic, ssamjang, and salted shrimp, all to make the perfect wrap. A small or medium order would have been enough. The soup was also good and comforting.

Yelp
My friend introduced me to this gem yesterday when she took me out for my birthday dinner! Sooo yummy!! This is located in Gardena (about 10ish minutes away from where my friend lives). We came at around 1:00PM on a Thursday and there was no wait! We opted for the Small Bossam & we also ordered the original YukGaeJang with glass noodle. This definitely got my Korean food fix in! The small bossam and the yukgaejang was the perfect amount for two girls. The service here was amazing! The food came out super fast and the workers were super attentive. The broth in the yukgaejang was flavorful & comforting. I don't eat Korean food often but it was so good that I'm still thinking about this meal today. Will definitely come back soon whenever I'm in the area visiting my friend! :)

Yelp
I did not know such an amazing korean restaurant existed in Gardena. South Bay never ceases to surprise me with all the amazing food options. Gives me another excuse to not want to leave. So in case you're wondering, Yuk Dae Jang is korean. I will say this now, the noodle soup was amazing, the bossam was amazing, everything was amazing. I simply want to come back again and again. Flavor's on point, service is on point, and, well, company was on point cause I ate with my gf and her parents, making for a perfect lunch after a long trip out of town. There's a whole lot of parking so you'll be just fine. Otherwise, there's nothing to complain about, just good food, good vibes, good time.

Irene Q.

Yelp
Food was delicious and satisfying on a rainy day. Ordered pork belly (medium) for 3 ppl, and original yuk dae Jung ramen. Service was attentive and helpful. Ambiance was small but plenty of space for customers in groups of 4 and more. Love this place, and will be back soon.

Johnny R.

Yelp
Food was good. I came here with my momma for dinner on a week day. She ordered the rice cake dumpling soup and I got the spicy beef soup with the pasta noodles. We also ordered a small pork belly set. The soups had rich base and were tasty. The pasta noodle, while good on its own and cooked al dente, you can tell they didn't drain the pasta water before putting into the soup so that watered down the broth and its saltiness. We didn't care for the pork belly set, it had really strong herby aroma we really didn't enjoy. Food on its own would be 4 stars but the service was really weird. There was one girl working and she made the experience so awkward and we didn't enjoy eating in the restaurant. She came by to refill water and asked if we need anything else a couple times, which was nice, but she had this really depressing energy and it didn't make the experience enjoyable. We would go back though for the food, maybe takeout next time.

Yelp
I've been here a few times now and decided to deviate from my regular order of yuk gae jang with ramyun noodles for the glass noodle variation. I really liked it and didn't make me unbearably stuffed or feeling too heavy with food coma due to the glass noodle substitute! My friend got the soon tofu version and she said it was delicious as well! The service was very attentive and nice as usual. They saw I had a white shirt and gave me an apron to wear to avoid unwanted stains! I went at 1:30pm so it was pretty empty and had plenty of seating!

Joy G.

Yelp
I always order Original YukGaejang with Fresh Pasta. Spicy. Hot. Savory and full of flavor. There is shredded brisket in it as well. It also comes with 3 side dishes: green onions, kimchi and fish cake. All are very yummy! I've been coming here since it was only $15 but now it's $20. I have also tried their Brisket Cold Soup, mild flavor and good during Summertime since you can enjoy soup that cools you down. My bf usually gets the Orginal YukGaejang with Custommade Ramyun which is ramen noodles. Pork and Chive Steamed Mandu - gyoza were good and basic, another source of protein. Usually come in during dinner time and there are open tables and are seated right away. Service is good. Most of the staff is friendly and attentive except for 1 girl who consistently is neither friendly or attentive. Wooden tables, chairs and 1 long bench for seating. It is a small location but rarely gets full but constantly gets customers.

Yelp
20 Peaple has a great time with delicious foods and good service. We going to visit again and again. We love it.

Ilana K.

Yelp
My favorite yuk dae Jang spot near home. Always on point! Just thinking about it is making me hungry.

Erick L.

Yelp
This is my first time trying these dishes and coming to this place. I have to say I really like the soup. It was great flavor and I really enjoyed it. The service was good, and the location was clean.

Yelp
I discovered this place when searching for a boba place and I absolutely love love their spicy soup! Their Side dishes are absolutely amazing, it gave me a taste of Korea. My server was great, especially refilling my side dishes and always with a smile. Thank you for the great service!

Karen T.

Yelp
Really love the food here. The yuk gae jang is a good portion and I always get it with the fresh pasta which is delicious. The bossam also always hits the spot. Haven't been able to try other dishes because I always want these two. I only wish the place were a little bigger. Not a ton of tables. We got there early for dinner on a Sunday night so were able to sit down immediately but it filled up pretty quickly.

Roger P.

Yelp
It has almost become tradition to eat Yuk Dae Jang as a hangover recovery. Most of the time we order through a food delivery service and the quality is still so good. The benefit of dining in is unlimited banchan and I really like their kimchi and fish cake. Medium Premium Bossam Boiled in Various Herbs: This was a lot of food and even though it was split between 4 people, I definitely didn't need my own order of soup. Bossam is essentially steamed pork and they give you a variety of sides to eat with it. I generally wrap a piece in Napa cabbage and put ssamjang, garlic and kimchi. Handcrafted Mandu and Rice Cake in Ox Bone Broth: A very light broth but still has so much flavor. The mandu pieces are large so you don't get that many. I kind of wish there was some mandu sauce like what we ate in Seoul. It's good but I wish I stuck with my usual YukGaeJang. If you're eating at home, be ready for a mess. You'll notice that with the spicy soup bases, somehow the spicy oils get everywhere. But don't let that stop you from trying it out!

Matt P.

Yelp
Just super good Korean soup/noodles.....this is a go to for us when we have that particular craving.

Kathleen Y.

Yelp
Was really craving bossam and came across Yuk Dae Jang which had great reviews for it! We came around 6pm on a Friday night and was seated right away. The location is pretty small so I can imagine it getting pretty busy with a wait on the weekend. Staff was friendly and attentive, no complaints here. Hubs and I ordered a medium premium bossam with icy naengmyeon noodles, and it was SO SO DELICIOUS! Loved the banchan served with the meal, especially the chives. Their kimchi was the perfect addition to the meal. We also ordered their pork and chive dumplings that you could definitely tell were made from scratch. The size of the meal was perfect split between two people. But I do have to say that I wish I skipped on the noodles and just did a large order of the bossam instead. It was that good! Definitely a must try spot for their bossam and soups!

Yijun Z.

Yelp
Food was average and service was really good. We planned to visit Korean town to have lunch but didn't have enough time. Overall was on average level. You can try it out if you are nearby but not worth to drive long way to taste it.

Neiron P.

Yelp
Came in a little late after dinner time, about an hour before closing. Seated and served pretty quick and the staff was nice and accommodating. Food was delicious and a great amount. We managed to finish everything with three people, but could definitely feed 4 or 5 if you have smaller appetites.

Christine Z.

Yelp
Yuk Dae Jang is one of my comfort food places whenever I'm craving something soupy. There's a few different menu options but I generally go with the Original YukGaeJang with Custommade Ramen since I prefer the thicker, chewier texture compared to the pasta. They have a good selection of sides and are pretty on top of checking in on you to see if you want refills. I've also ordered takeout before but the soup dishes, especially the spicy ones, are definitely a bit messy. Unfortunately it does look like prices have gone up a lot recently so it's quite expensive for what it is, but a nice treat every once in a while!

Susan S.

Yelp
Came back recently, and the meal was so satisfying. I had the yukgaejang kalgooksoo (the soup with knife cut noodles), and this time it was chewy and bouncy. Much better texture, and the soup was amazing, as always. I loooove their kimchi! So refreshing and fresh. We also tried the seafood yukgaejang, and it was better than what I expected. Service was very friendly, the young gentleman working during Sat lunch was nice and attentive. I love their dishware too. We also did takeout once, and I love that they package things so nicely. Overall, really recommend this place for the best yukgaejang soup. It's soup season, so enjoy!

Sunny C.

Yelp
A great spot to enjoy authentic Korean food! We enjoyed the handmade noodles and the steamed pork belly. The side dishes were also really good especially the kimchi. The only issue would be that there a few fruit flies around our food during our meal which we had to fly away multiple times.

Gustavo M.

Yelp
It was giving what was suppose to be given! Jk lolol. It was really good! It was my first time and I'd definitely come back again! Met up with a friend and we both enjoyed the food. :) I forgot what we ordered. Regardless it was yummers!

Tom S.

Yelp
Glad that there is a Gardena location because it's a good alternative to their Ktown location. This location is relatively small and simple, almost gave a 4 star for the dining area. The food was amazing and reminded me of being in Korea. The bossam has a slight smoky and herbal flavor and very tender. Highly recommend getting this. We also had the original yukgaejang which was deep in flavor and the spicy bibim naengmun which was also very good. I think that was our favorite. The side dishes(banchan) were minimal but enough to compliment our dishes Definitely will return because the service was also great! If you're looking more authentic Korean dishes besides Kbbq try this place out.

Marley A.

Yelp
I crave for this place!! Food is always sooo good! Parking is plenty! It's pretty small, only a few tables but we never have to wait, maybe our timing is always good that they're not busy when we go. Handmade noodles is a must try! When we pick up, their boxes are always well put together that you don't mind picking up, the quality is just as good as dining in. My only complaint is that it's sometimes hard to flag down the servers, but other than that, this place is pretty good!

Rebeca S.

Yelp
Best bossam in Gardena. The service is always good and everything on the menu is delicious.

Kathryn A.

Yelp
Really good food and hardly ever a wait. 2 for 1 soju and beer special. We come here for bossom, yuk gae jang and cold noodles.

JV D.

Yelp
Good service and good food. Clean place. Would recommend if you're looking for some good Suyuk (pork belly).

Cyn L.

Yelp
My first time trying this restaurant in Gardena. It's located in a strip mall on the east side of Western Avenue, just north of Redondo Beach Blvd. Our party of 7 arrived on a weeknight to celebrate a birthday. While the restaurant is small, we sat at a table which was very comfortable for all of us. I didn't order the entrees which we all shared, but I must say that everything was delicious and beautifully presented. We had a beef short rib hot pot with squash, potatoes, and some other veggies simmered in a broth. I think that was my favorite dish. We also had a pork belly entree with accompanying dipping sauces and nappa cabbage for wrapping, and another ramen soup hot pot. The steamed mandu was delicious too. Our total bill was about $200, before tax and tip. Our waitress gave herself a 20% tip, so total was $262.

Kathy Y.

Yelp
I ordered Yuk Gae Jang soup from this restaurant and delivered to the hotel I was staying at, but the restaurant forgot my spoon and no utensil was found, so I threw the soup I ordered as the main dish in the trash without even trying it. Not only that, they didn't even provide chopsticks, so I ate the kimchi dumplings with my fingers. :(

Liting F.

Yelp
The original Yukdaejang with glass noodle and tofu is so good! We also get the Bossam(pork belly) the most part it's soft and really nice. There has been a time where is wasn't to standard. It tasted like it was from the day before. We also tried the bulgogi glass noodle. It was a very large portion. The service is okay, I can't say it was over the top and the inside is always generally very cold. Even in Jan. But if you want a very good bowl of hot soup, this place is very good.

Maria F.

Yelp
This was our first meal since Pre-COVID. The menu is almost the same. They offer beer and soju now. The interior is slightly different. I always order the same items. My husband tends to try different items. The food is always tasty and you leave feeling full and satisfied. Don't let the bright red-orange scare you. It's not that spicy!

Eric F.

Yelp
Ordered dinner a couple times now and the strengths lie in their dumplings and soondubu. Both the yukgaejang and seafood premium variants were generously portioned and provided a pleasantly moderate kick. In the realm of sullungtang, I'd give the nod to places like Wooga Sullungtang - higher quality brisket and a creamier broth.

Annie K.

Yelp
OMG this place is so good!!! I was craving bosam and decided to try this place out. The bosam is flavorful and moist. The sides are so good to wrap the bosam with. The spicy cold noodles were bomb. I've never seen this dish served with shredded meat (it's unusually sliced), it was a welcomed surprise. The only thing I didn't care for was that the lettuce cut into such small pieces which made it more difficult to eat but I'm sure if I asked they would have given larger pieces. I'll definitely be back soon.

Lia W.

Yelp
Yummy food and friendly service! I've been craving Korean spicy food recently and went there 4 times in 2 weeks lol. Different servers each visit but all friendly and nice.

Joellen C.

Yelp
Just ate here again and it was amazing as ever. Even though our party could handle spicy food, we'd recommend getting level 0 spicy because though level 1 was tolerable in heat, it masked the flavor of the meat and all we tasted by the end of the night was spice.

Angela L.

Yelp
I honestly was kind of disappointed with this place. The pictures from yelp look so promising but flavors did not deliver. We ordered the yuk dae jang noodles w ramyun and handmade pasta, flavor was lacking, had to add salt and the noodles were overcooked, especially the ramyun. The pasta was still ok but since the broth was so hot and the pasta kept cooking in the bowl, it becomes overcooked to. Portion was large. Bowl was big. Spicy octopus mandu was good and moist Pork and chive mandu was dry inside Mandu sauce was good though Banchan were good, fishcakes, chive and carrots, kimchi. We also ordered the soup with rice cakes and white broth, it was terrible. Flavor was bad. We didnt even eat it. Service was non-existent. Very difficult to flag waitress because they do not pay attention to the tables. Took awhile to take our order, to give us more water and to pay. Overall wont come back.

Ashley B.

Yelp
Go for the bossam. Can't fail. Overall good quality food. Parking is relatively easy.

Kaitlyn N.

Yelp
I've been to Yuk Dae Jang before and had a great experience, so I knew I had to come back. With the covid restrictions they now use disposable utensils and the rice/sides are served in takeout containers. Upon sitting down, they give you barley tea! FLAVOR (5/5): YukGaeJang Hot Pot Army Style: There's no mention of the serving size for the Hot Pot Army Style, but I would say it serves around 2-3. I came here with my friend and we were both really hungry, but still couldn't finish it. But the food... was amazing. It hit the spot and my craving was satisfied. And they don't skimp out on any of the meat or rice cakes! TAKEAWAYS: Come!!! This is definitely one of my local favorites.

Shanelle S.

Yelp
Love their YukGaeJang and SulLungTang ! we usually order take out with them. The container doesn't leak or spill by the time we get home!

Karen M.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place on a hot day and was so excited to see they had bibim naengmyun! I haven't had it with meat before but this was super yummy. It's not too spicy, not too flavorless. The noodles could've cooked for longer and been softer. I also wish they gave a side of chilled bone broth.

Malee M.

Yelp
I've dined in and ordered takeout, and have to say this is one of my fave go-tos in town. I had bossam and sullungtang and they're both equally delicious. Staff is friendly and efficient - I appreciate how carefully everything's packaged for takeout. Highly recommend this

Ruth C.

Yelp
The bossam was just alright - a little dry. But the seafood ramyun was really good! Included a lot of seafood and the broth was tasty. Had to order here again a second time same week!

Lindsey D.

Yelp
Perfect comfort food on a hot or cold day! I had the original yuk dae jang with pasta noodles. I enjoyed the pasta which is different then what I normally get in other Asian dishes like ramen, udon, pho, etc. The broth is tasty with a kick of spice. At first I thought this dish would be too spicy for me but after a few bites the spice levels out.

Joshy A.

Yelp
Food was really tasty! Service and ambiance was great as well! Price is reasonable. I highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Here is my honest review for the second time being at this establishment. On Monday April 25th, decided to try out this establishment due to the fact that the next door sushi restaurant was unfortunately closed for the day. My first time here, I ordered a spicy seafood ramen recommended by my waitress. Service was quick fast and easy. Once my order arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious my meal was. Broth was extremely flavorful, the spice was quite delicious not overpowering and the seafood/ramen portion was just perfect. The 2 girls attending the restaurant were always attentive making sure I had everything I needed and my glass of water was always full. I couldn't have left more full and extremely happy that day was a definite 5/5 experience. I loved it so much I decided to come again today (Wednesday May 27th). I sat right away, and a different woman and gentlemen were at the register attending the guests at the restaurant. I sat quickly and a woman approached me and asked if I was ready to order (which I was). I quickly explained to her that I had the most delicious seafood ramen the last time I had came to the restaurant. But this time I wanted the spicy ramen minus the seafood or any meat. I just wanted the spicy ramen with whatever veggies it came with and mushrooms. I informed her that I was not vegetarian or vegan as the broth was made from meat. She suggested some items and that maybe it would be possible to do but she had to double check. She asked the gentlemen at the register and they spoke in their own language. 15 minutes later my spicy mushroom ramen arrived at the table. I quickly finished my delicious meal. Upon receiving my check, I was charged for an item I never received (the meat) and had an added up charge for an item that I had requested but not notified of the up-charges until my check was brought to my table. Working for the restaurant business for over 13 years I find this extremely unpleasantly unprofessional. Communication is key in a business establishment. Instead of the employees communicating with each other in their own language (disrespectful), a better approach would have been notifying the guest of the up charge and inability of substituting an item. Although the lack of communication and disrespect is unfortunate. The food is extremely delicious.

Yelp
Yuk Dae Jang speciality restaurant as it's name. Various kinds to choose from. Always good for cold winter days. Non spicy sullungtan soup is also tasty. Servers are nice and friendly. One of my go to place in Gardena.
