15 Jacksonville Bakeries That Will Satisfy Any Sweet Tooth

"Get a taste of the South at Yum a Southern Market, part bakery and part lifestyle and home goods store. The bakery case is filled with whatever the owner and baker decides to make that day, like eclairs, cupcakes, cookies, and cake slices. Fans sometimes line up at least 45 minutes before the market opens, especially when cinnamon rolls are available, served warm first thing in the morning and topped with mounds of homemade icing." - Megan duBois

There’s so many things to check out here. Very niche items. Home decor, candles, laundry scents, aprons, kids toys etc. but what I went there for were the bakery items and they did not disappoint!! Sooo many options it’s fun to choose. I got the pecan pie bar, red velvet brownie and lemon blueberry whoopie and i cannot even tell you which I liked best. So so tasty and delicious. I’m trying to watch my calorie intake so I don’t know why I did this to myself but my goodness DELICIOUS.

Google
Love this boutique. Lots of options. Plenty to see and explore. Got some cute Mother’s Day items. If you’re looking for a more unique, personal gift you should stop in

Okay family we have another one. DESSERT SPOT!!! Located right in Orange Park a short 14min drive from Middleburg. The cupcakes were amazingly soft and moist. The coconut cream pie or cake my daughter got was delicious. Plus they have nic-nacs I believe you'd love as well. If you haven't already try them out. You won't be disappointed😃🧁

Ahh this place has soo much potential. I have gone twice. Both times I was highly disappointed with my sweet treats. I went yesterday and got a carrot cake whoopie pie and a snickerdoodle cookie. To say the cookie was stale is an understatement - it was a brick. My coworker was looking at me like I was crazy when I tried to bite the cookie and couldn't. The carrot cake whoopie pie was dry - could be that I ate it still a little cold, but I don't think so.

I walked In a couple of weeks ago with my sons! We were so excited to go since we had never been. First and last time!!! The girl at the counter was not friendly at all. There was an older lady seemed she was the baker not friendly at all.. my sons love those kinds of stores so they were looking around mind you they are older not little. So they were not touching anything. But maybe the color of their skin scared off this store! I shrugged it off called the boys to come see what they wanted. To ask a question seemed like a bother! I ordered and paid and she literally handed everything separately!!! I said can I have a bag please she said it’s not going to fit! I said I kind of need a bag as I’m driving and don’t want it all over the place. Surprise surprise it all fit!!! We were still nice to her and she was just not nice made the ambiance feel awkward.. I said thank you have a good day and she didn’t even respond! We were so excited to go in as we heard such good things and then this happens. I will never go back In there, made us feel really uncomfortable. I don’t care if I’m spending a dollar or $50 don’t treat people like that.. you don’t know what kind of money we would have dropped in that store at a later time and because of that we will never spend a dime in there.. and yes I spent quite a bit that day

Google
The cupcakes and customer service were great, especially the carrot cupcake! I didn't really care for the macaroons too much, as I found them to be way too sugary for me and I thought that they also had a slight refrigerator after flavor, but my daughter did really like them either way.

Google
Everything is hand made and amazIng. Some how the cakes and pies do not affect a family members sugar. Thats what hand made gets you, healthier deserts. Beat cocunut pie we have ever had. 12 out of 10.

Google
Amazing shop! Not only do they have unique gifts, but food selection as well. From old alcohol candy to DIY beer bread, this place has plenty of interesting flavors. The bakery is my favorite part. They have a weekly flavor for cake & it's always amazing! Last week bourbon peach, this week chocolate Kahlúa!!!

Yelp
great place if you like roaches. Bought pastries and it had a roach leg in the box. I called the store to tell them and they accused me of lying. I'll never go there again.

Yelp
To say that this is a "hidden gem" doesn't do this place justice. It's located next to Now and Then Antique Mall (another local gem) on College Drive in Orange Park. While Yum is a destination spot for baked goods and custom cakes, they also have a market that features a variety of treasures made by local vendors. Homemade bath and kitchen products are abundant, as well as jams and jellies, funny signage, clothing, and so much more. If you're in need of a creative and unique gift for any occasion, then Yum is the place to check out. Whether I've needed goodies for my days off or stocking up for a TV marathon night (Stranger Things 4 in one shot), YUM has always had me covered. I could sit here and tell you all of my favorite desserts, but then this review would turn into a novel. I will say that I leave there with at least two scrumptious cupcakes and several bars. Their 5 (or is it 6?) layer bar is outstanding and reminds me of the ones my Mom used to make for the holidays. It's like the one from the Eagle Condensed Milk can recipe, but so much better. If you see these in the dessert case, GET IT....or get 5, like me. They have a Facebook page, where they keep you up to date on upcoming sales and events, as they have loads of different products coming in from day to day. I love that everything is made from scratch and that they're supporting our thriving local community of artists. Yum a Southern Market is well worth the trip, whether you're in the neighborhood or from out of town. A big thank you to the owners and the staff for bringing us such a special place! One important thing to mention is that they are closed on Sundays and Mondays! Till next time, my fellow Yeeps, SUPPORT your local eats and businesses, and as always...SYOY!

Yelp
Shout-out to YUM - A Southern Market for great customer service! My fur baby ran out of her favorite treats. I was running late coming from work. This sweet lady re-opened the store so Misty Blue can get her dog treats. Thank you I truly appreciate the extra effort. #shoplocal #supportlocalbusiness . .

Yelp
Loving the designs of Country Charm. Takes me to back of my hometown in Maryland. Where a sweet charming smile means a lot . Not only the Best in town desserts but come in and see for yourself some Charming Old Country Charm of decor. I fell in Love with the place and I-know you will to. Try the carrot cake cupcakes. They were delicious !! Let me show you the Carrot Cake we ordered to one of our sailor buddies we've known for 32 years. He LOVED it!!!! Thanks for making his special day that much more special. Looking forward to buying another special cake for my granddaughters 3rd BDay. She Loves Minnie Mouse.

Yelp
What a cute shop! Very welcoming and clean. I was in a rush and wanted to grab some sweets. Some of the most moist and flavorful cupcakes! Generous size and reasonable priced. I can't wait to go back and try more and explore. P.S. make you sure you know they're closed Sun and Mon

Yelp
This is one of those places when you're enter you can feel a change in the atmosphere and in your spirit This is a family business which gives old fashioned hospitality offering a General Store feeling. Its Orange Parks own Country store filled with cute displays with unique gifts for every taste and for all seasonal updates. Great fresh baked pies and Cookies and even macarons. Stop in and experience that down-home country feeling from their friendly owners and enjoy the eclectic surroundings they have created for our city.

Yelp
This shop would appear to be a gold mine of smiles and gift ideas that would make your day! Positively awesome. Yet, when you pay for your purchase you see the trash of negativity and IGNORANCE ranting political blame and ugliness taped to their counter. I was aghast! I just dashed back to the store to purchase a perfect gift for my neighbor. I questioned the worker/owner about the political rankings on the counter and she admitted that the negativity was meant seriously! Literally proud of her negative ignorance. I went to my car and realized that there is no gift worth gifting that is tainted by ugliness. I carried it back in to leave on the counter. My question? Why pack a store with fun gifts while promoting political ignorance? Im betting this worker pretends to be a "Christian " ? I'm sad that a store I would have steered many friends to check out became a negative ignorant political poison. So unprofessional, un classy, and sad. I'll find a fun gift shop somewhere smart enough to leave their ignorance flag on their pick up truck- and not in a business that could have brought joy.

Yelp
Facebook keeps showing me things that my friends like- aka- Yum, A Southern Market. All of a sudden, this charming bakery and market was a suggested group. After looking up where it was and watching the videos the owner posts, I knew I was making a trek to Middleburg. We made a few stops along the way and arrived around 1pm. They were fairly busy and I heard one lady ordering whole cakes~ YUM. I walked around the store eyeing so many items!!! Finally impatient John was hurrying me up by telling me some of my favorite baked goods simply had one left!!! Ok, you have my attention. I got in line and lucky me- the lady in front of me was there to talk wedding cakes- aka, I got the last eclair! And a lemon bar, 3 cookies = sugar, snickerdoodle & cowboy, a small chocolate cream pie and a slice of cranberry-orange pound cake. Yes, I am aware that it's a lot. But I LOVE baked goods! So far I have only eaten the cookies- shared with John. The cowboy is my favorite! A mix of oats, chocolate chips, coconut and love!

Yelp
I am soo BLESSED to have found this amazing place... I am a new mom to two amazing boy's who are turning 10 and 11 this year.. and before me they have lost soo much.. soo I was so stressed making sure they felt loved this year on their birthday!! And I walked into this place and talked with the owner who has such a huge heart and agreed to help me w the boys birthday cake not just on short notice but on Father's Day weekend when she is already super busy... But she didn't just make them a cake .. She put her heart into it and it means the world to me!! Thank you soo much for making my Boy's first ever Birthday Party one that will never be forgotten...
google avatar

Pauletta D.

Yelp
Bought the banana cream pie for a work dinner, Everyone loved it and were still talking about it weeks later.

Stacy B.

Yelp
Awesome little market with so many treasures. Talked directly with the Owner regarding a special Birthday cake for my Granddaugher's 21st, and she did not disappoint! It was beautiful and delicious and she was very impressed. I will always buy my sweet treats from this shop. I also bought the "Original Pepper Jelly" for a holiday appetizer, and it was delicious!

Yelp
I had no place this establishment existed and was leaving the area from patronizing another establishment so I threw my car back in park and had to satisfy my curiosity. I walked in and was consumed by the lovely smell of brownies. This is quiet a cute little store with all sorts of goodies, brownies, cookies, cupcakes, bath balls, bath salt, spices, pillows and even more things. Customer service was very good and the ladies were extremely friendly. I ordered a half of dozen of cupcakes. Now, let me just say I have my favorite spot for cupcakes but I like trying other spots too. They all looked very yummy. I ordered double chocolate, 1 red velvet, 2 strawberry, raspberry lemon & a carrot cake one. I'm giving the place 4 starts because the cake on the chocolate and strawberry cupcakes were dry, not as moist as I like my cupcakes to be. Now, the carrot cake one was very delicious. I will definitely be going back for the Hyppo pops. I'm looking forward to trying those.

Yelp
Went bc everyone always told me about this place. Have to say I'm not a fan. The shop is adorable but the desserts just weren't very good (imo) It's a cute place but I just didn't love it so maybe it just wasn't for me?
google avatar

Sonya K.

Yelp
Oh my this is one of my favorite places to get a sweet treat. I love the owner. She is so sweet and has the best customer service. I think she bakes everything in the store and everything is soooo good.
google avatar

Jo M.

Yelp
No mask so sad . Great collection of country gifts and nasty socks - gifts for ? If your into that . Cupcakes were really dry as were the cookies. Tried the beer bread mix it was awful a in the trash. I gave as gifts they did the same. Do not buy. Nice store
google avatar

Diane M.

Yelp
Omg just the best baked goods anywhere! The eclairs are my fave . Everything is made from scratch and the employees are so helpful and patient with all my silly questions .lol. It's in orange park off of collage dr . I know it's a long trip over here but I promise you won't be sorry . So come on out to clay county Florida. And get some !
google avatar

Yelp
Such a cute little shop!! And their desserts are so flavorful! I love coming here for little gifts for friends or for a little pick me up sweet treat during the week.

Rouzbeh S.

Yelp
Quality: delightful, people who did not like cake said this was the first cake they enjoyed in years. Presentation: beautifully done! Customer service: sweet and amazing ladies. A pleasure to deal with. Price: what a catch for what you get, I paid maybe 60 for a cake that feed 24 people. Overall an amazing experience! Will use again!
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Had one of their cupcakes to celebrate a friends birthday. It was strawberry vanilla flavored. Here's the catch, it was gluten free. Now as someone who does not have gluten allergies I find that it is hard to make things gluten free and maintain the taste/texture. This place nailed it. The cupcake was moist and taste like strawberry shortcake. I am curious to try their non gluten free stuff.

Yelp
Yum! Perfect name for this cute store with delicious pastries and cute country decor and merchandise to match. Friendly and welcoming staff. Love this place!
google avatar

Bella C.

Yelp
This place is still poppin two years later of my last review! i love this place for being so 'in fashion' and up to date on the fads or holidays going on. I visited during the corona mess and got myself a toilet paper cupcake which was absolutely adorable and so relatable during the time of visit! definitely provides a sense of humor to the community. i've recommended this place to so many of my friends and they've all loved it as much as I do! Wonderful little place.
google avatar

Megan S.

Yelp
This was the cutest store with a nice selection of bakery items. They had a lot of cute unique things that you wouldn't find in your typical store. The tres Leches was fresh and the best I've had. The staff was real friendly and I was able to get the rest of my Christmas shopping done there and got a cute little ornament with my purchase.
google avatar

D K.

Yelp
Cute little store, but the customer service wasn't great. The lady at the front desk never greeted me when I came in and was quite prompt in making my transaction fast like she had other customers (i was the only one in the store at the time) maybe she was having a bad day? Who knows!
google avatar

theresa B.

Yelp
Such a quaint little Southern Shop! They have tons of rustic trinkets and gifts. I also bought edible goodies like the home made pepper jelly which is how the business got started. She sells bake goods and once I am off my diet I am going back for boston creme cupcake!!! Owner is super friendly and lots of items such as the dipping seasonings are local. She is even taking pre orders for Valentines baked goods. I can't wait to come back for house hold decor!
google avatar

Melissa D.

Yelp
Love it here!!! Fun and unique local store with fresh bakery items they make in house!!! One of my mom's and I favorite places

Jen W.

Yelp
This is a cute little shop with a wide variety of gifts and a yummy bakery case! So glad I decided to check it out after work. I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Jenna D.

Yelp
Ordered a 12 cupcake order of their blueberry and lemon flavored cupcakes. They were delicious

Lori K.

Yelp
I love this place. The owner always greets everyone and so does the staff. Store is clean, smells delicious, and is always full of amazing buys. I love the old fashioned cakes, cup cakes and cookies as well as the "funny" gifts. If you've never stopped by, I recommend you working it into your day! You will not regret it
google avatar

Christie H.

Yelp
YUM never disappoints! The sweets are fabulous!!! The chocolate Kahlua cake is to die for! Definitely my favorite!

Samantha P.

Yelp
I think we purchased almost one of everything to try! Raspberry cupcake, double chocolate cupcake, tiramisu whoopie pie, strawberry pie (personal favorite), piña colada cheesecake, lemon bar (second favorite). All fresh & all delicious. Keep in mind, almost everything is kept cold or chilled. I loved this, plus kept it fresh all the way home because we had everything to go. But stop by and grab some treats for home! We picked up an Orange Marmalade on our way out also
google avatar

Kristina K.

Yelp
Yum is an awesome addition to the Orange Park/Middleburg area! They have tons of adorable decor and treats. The owner was so friendly and explained each of the cupcakes and pies to my mom and I. I had a cookie dough cupcake and it was fantastic. The owner advised that we should let the cupcakes get to room temperature before eating them since she uses real butter and they're better when the butter softens back up at room temp. Yum is a great place to stop for a treat or some great home decor!

S W.

Yelp
I work in the ER and this place dropped off cupcakes. The sentiment alone would be enough for a good review and my support, but the cupcakes were outstanding!!! Will definitely be getting them for birthdays and other occasions!
google avatar

Lyds S.

Yelp
YUM is yummy, rustic and welcoming. The woman who was there was so nice and kind when we were in today. The cupcakes are yummy and there was a nice mix of safe flavors and unique flavors (for those who are feeling adventurous). I had the earl gray & lavender cupcake and it was interesting and yummy. They also have pies, cakes, and brownies (available when I went-a Tuesday afternoon). There is neat local products available for sale in the store like candles, bath bombs, etc. Stop on by for a cute and yummy treat!

Yelp
Our family takes a stroll through the Riverside Arts Market a few weeks a month, often specifically to visit My Pepper Jelly's booth. I'll admit that I am often just a cheap moocher and don't always buy a jar but my mouth waters for days afterward, cursing me for not buying the goods. There are at least 3 booths that sell pepper jellies at the market, and I've tried them all. But without a doubt, My Pepper Jelly is the best! I particularly like their seasonal flavors but I don't think I've tried a single jelly from her booth that didn't agree with my pie-hole. My personal favorite is the strawberry jalepeno (only available in spring) but today we forked out for the mango habenero (my wife's fav). In speaking with the lady who makes the jelly and owns the booth, they are apparently in the process of opening a store in the very near future (which I am absolutely delighted about!). This is one of those small businesses that is owned by a fantastically nice person and only makes the highest quality (and mouth-wateringly-delicious) product! It all started from a recipe handed down from her grandmother. Businesses based on family tradition have a ton of appeal to me and they have made their grandmother's legacy into an absolutely wonderful gift to humanity (or at the very least Jacksonville). As I mentioned to her today, I would like to see their jellies in bigger jars since the ones they sell are quite tiny but otherwise I can't think of a single thing that doesn't make me absolutely giddy about their jelly! This is a premium priced product but I will happily pay the price for something this delicious!

Leigh W.

Yelp
I enjoyed their store set up; bought quite a few items. It's been a quite a while since I had been back there due to the rudeness of the husband. His darling wife made a cake for me, that I couldn't pick up on the day it was ready, but I kept in contact with her and she said she understood my circumstances at that time I picked it up three days later, and tight after I paid for it the husband stated to me that he was about to place it up for sale on Facebook. I found that to be very rude since I was in contact with the wife. I felt truly felt hurt with his rude comment, especially when my family was going through the loss of my mother. I just felt that I kept in touch with the wife and she was alright with my delay in picking up the cake, but this man just had to be ugly towards me right after I had paid for the cake.
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
Tried this cute this store for the first time the other day. The owner is very cheerful and sweet. Very nice decorations for purchase. I purchased 4 different kinds of cupcakes totaling over $11. There was Boston cream pie, red velvet, salted caramel, and chocolate filled with raspberry. We let them sit to rise to room temperature before eating as instructed. Maybe we just purchased them on an "off day", but we all felt that they were a little dry and my children didn't finish theirs. :/ I'd like to say that we will give this shop another try, but we shall see.
google avatar

Tiffany H.

Yelp
Yum always has fun flavors, good prices for quality treats, and fun events for the community. My favorite treats are the apple pie and the strawberry cupcakes and the bourbon pecan pie.
google avatar

Robin H.

Yelp
The owner was so friendly and helpful as soon as we walked in the door. The shop has so many cute southern themed things that I'll definitely go back to look around more. Now on to the good stuff...the cupcakes! I tried the Birthday, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Banana Pudding, & Carrot. They were all delicious! The carrot cake was probably my daughter's favorite with birthday cake coming in a close second. Each one was $2.75 making my total $11. She also offers reduced price for half a dozen and a dozen. 5+++ starts from my family.
google avatar

Becky K.

Yelp
Dropped by this shop with my granddaughter to buy her a cupcake (which was delicious) and so pleasantly surprised. What a cute shop with lots of perfect gifts plus desserts. Can't wait to return
google avatar

Sarah O.

Yelp
Such a cute shop! They have amazing cupcakes, decorations, soaps, bath bombs, candles and lots more!! Very reasonable prices and the staff is amazing! Everyone was so helpful, it made it fun to shop there! Can't wait to go back :)
google avatar

Rachel W.

Yelp
I just went there for the first time today and it is amazing!! There are many flavours of cupcake which are delicious!!! They have lots of little things to buy in there to ranging from decorations to sauce to homemade bath bombs and lotion!
google avatar

Jess O.

Yelp
I love this little shop. She has such cute items in her store and lots of sassy sayings that will make you LOL. Her cupcakes are yummy, I think my favorite is the strawberry cupcake. I've never gotten a terrible cupcake here. Her customer service is also phenomenal, and I can't wait to get back there!
google avatar

Jonathan H.

Yelp
The owner treated my special request as a labor of love. She make a real New Orleans authentic doberge cake for my 50th birthday. It was completely scrumptious. It was done on time as well. If I ever want a cake while in Fleming Island, I will go back to Yum to have it made.

Rebbeca S.

Yelp
Awesome cupcakes. I love to get one and go next door to the nail shop and get a herbal pedicure while I enjoy my cupcake.

Karen S.

Yelp
I bought 6 different cupcakes. All the different frostings did not have a creamy consistency and every single one of them except for the carrot cupcake was dry and hard. I don't know if I got old cupcakes or what but the only one that tasted fresh and was tasty was the carrot cupcake with cream cheese frosting. Maybe I'm used to a buttercream frosting. These didn't taste good at all.
google avatar

Stacey K.

Yelp
Oh. My. Word! This stuff is beyond amazing! I have tried every flavor and can't pick a favorite! My go-to-appetizer is always cream cheese with a half of jar of My Pepper Jelly and some favorite crackers. EVERYONE asks where I bought it. My latest addiction: Strawberry Jalapeno over vanilla ice cream...it doesn't get better than this! Where the sweet meets the heat! I hear they are opening a storefront on College in Orange Park called "YUM- A Southern Market" can't wait to have this sinful little pleasure anytime I want!
