Everyone knows that Yum is the spot for fun treats and some good food BUT today I had an experience that will leave a bad taste in my mouth for months to come, LITERALLY!
About a month ago I ordered a hot Chai tea latte, it came out to the table and suddenly a waft of what resembled an Indian restaurant or some very pungent curry dish surrounded the table like a thick fog. Thinking that they had expanded their menu to include some sort of Indian cuisine, I didn't think much of it. I proceeded to take a sip of my chai tea, and there it was... they use curry powder in their chai tea latte drinks! I sent it back, but the damage was done... all I could taste was curry for hours later. I also didn't smell... great.
I brushed it off and came back this morning with my wife for her birthday brunch! We ordered, you guessed it, Chai tea lattes to go!
Driving away, we both took a sip and nearly vomited on each-other. The curry powder was still part of their drink mix! In fact, they even sprinkle it on top as a sort of garnish.
To knock it out of the park with food and baked goods, and absolutely shit the bed when it comes to something as basic as a chai tea latte... blows me away! Yum, stop trying, so damn hard and get rid of the freaking curry powder. You're killing me dude.
It's a latte, not Tikka masala!
My advice: never go here for a chai tea latte, stick to the cookies and cupcakes.
