Yum Yum Noodle Bar Review - Woodstock - The Catskills - The Infatuation

"Yum Yum is in the middle of Woodstock’s main drag, and it serves a wide array of Japanese noodle bowls as well as Southeast Asian dishes like satay, bánh mì, and pad thai. It’s perfect for a low-key date night or a group dinner that doesn’t need to be a big deal (even with your neighbors who make everything a big deal). Also worth mentioning: Yum Yum Noodle Bar has locations in Kingston and Red Hook as well." - Team Infatuation

Google
This is our go-to spot for a delicious quick meal on our way to or from the Catskills. The Ramen with coconut curry broth and pork belly is divine. Service is always friendly and efficient. The food and drinks are dependable. We especially enjoyed sitting outside on the patio on a pleasant summer evening.

Google
They had a very good selection of vegetarian options, including their homemade seitan to add to any dish. The seitan was juicy and not tough. I most enjoyed the bibimbap and the “drunken noodles”. The atmosphere here was amazing.

Well there is good service here and I had good food as well but it is quite mediocre. I think when trying to do so much sometimes, the messaging or theme can be lost. Like the grounding part of it all. I love Asian cuisine and Yum Yum tried however there are great vegan options which I appreciate. The Thai Iced Tea with coconut milk was good. I enjoyed the Seitan Bao Buns. The curry ramen was lacking in flavorful, goodness and heartiness. Not my favorite but filled me up. The Seitan Korean Tacos were also tasty as well as Kale Salad so as an appetizer spot it’s solid but theory lost me on the entrees because the tofu dish was just straight up watery.

Love this place. Wish we lived closer. Up for the weekend and stopped in for dinner. Food is excellent. Service was very friendly and attentive. Place is so comfortable you just want to hang out for a while. Nice they had good beers available as well. Will definitely be back!

We were starving after a long Fall hike. Yum Yum Noodle Bar was the perfect remedy. We had ramen, and red curry seafood soup. Both were delicious. They have a lovey outdoor seating area. Service was friendly and efficient. We really enjoyed our time here.

The first thing I would say about Yum Yum Noodle Bar is that I am very surprised by this restaurant's positive rating. I live between Europe and the United States and my passion has always been eating, cooking and exploring new delicious and creative restaurants, especially Asian ones. Yum Yum's problems are too many to list them all. I'll just start by saying that it doesn't offer Asian cuisine at all and that every dish we ordered for takeout contained a jumble of colorless, sticky and tasteless ingredients, thrown onto the plate without any aesthetic or culinary criteria. If we had eaten blindfolded, it would have been impossible for us to describe what we were ingesting. I understand that the offering of authentic Asian food is limited outside certain urban areas but this restaurant is truly an insult to one’s palate. Despite the steep price, we ended up throwing most of our dinner in the trash.

We were lucky to find this place. Went there for lunch after Overlook mountain hike. It’s only 10 minutes drive from trailhead parking lot. Yum Yum has patio seating and indoor dining, we wanted to eat inside but I imagine when it gets warmer patio will be packed. It was Saturday noon but we did have to wait to be seated. Interior is ok, nothing special but clean. Service is great, everyone is very attentive. As for food we definitely recommend Korean tacos 🌮 best!!!! Besides tacos we also got two bowls of ramen. My boyfriend got spice noodles from menu and I got ramen with beef, chicken and pork base, curly noodles. I liked spice noodles more, but unfortunately was disappointed with chicken and pork base. Just my personal preference, but I would not recommend this specific set.

Google
Great dining experience!! All of the staff are so sweet and kind. Sometimes I just come in to say hi! The bubble tea is so delicious and I'm pretty sure the only place in Woodstock thats got it. I gave my granddaughter a bubble tea the other day and she freaked out from the tapioca LOL! She was like what is this mamaw????? I come here every week. Thanks so much!

Yelp
PROS: The coffee was good here and the prices were better. a lot of room to sit as this place is also an asian fusion restaurant and not just a coffee bar. CONS: One of the taller ladies at the register was a bit rude to us and they also charge a 10% fee for takeout which is unheard of OVERALL: I would come back here, if I was dining in and not taking out

Yelp
We were looking for an inexpensive and casual restaurant in Woodstock, so we decided to try Yum Yum. We're glad we did. It's a small restaurant, but it's cute. There are communal tables, but we managed to snag a high top table for ourselves. Our server was friendly, informative and attentive. There was a pumpkin cider on their special drink menu that we ordered and it was absolutely refreshing and delicious. There were a lot of tempting choices on the regular menu and on the special board. My husband ordered the Bento Box from the regular menu and I ordered a special dish with mushrooms. Both entrees were plentiful and really good. If you're in the area, this is a top-notch choice for Asian fare

Yelp
We felt this place was a solid 3.5. Overall the food was ok. I wouldn't rush back and would definitely try other dishes before re-ordering what we got. The miso soup and broccoli sides were solid. The fried pork dumplings were interesting. The pork was large hunks of meat, not ground pork like in traditional dumplings. It was crispy and had a good sweet dipping sauce. The kung Pao noodles were ok. The noodles were flavorful but the chicken was on the dry side. The restaurant was cute and cozy and service was friendly. There was ample parking in the back

Yelp
I've had true to taste Bibimbap at a Korean restaurant in White Plains and loved it ever since. So now that we're in town, I thought that perhaps I could relive my past Bibimbap experience with Yum Yum. Yum's restaurant+bar concept centers around an Asian fusion mix located in Woodstock, NY. The design inside has sage walls with painted cherry blossoms and seating is done simple in light wood benches+tables. I ordered the Bibimbap with the Salmon as my protein add-on, an Iced Thai Chai Latte (phenomenal, needs less ice) and a lychee Ramune- which if you're unfamiliar with the bottle, it's difficult AF to open it. Otherwise, it's a breeze. The rice in my Salmon Bibimbap was horribly off tasting. The steamed veggies lacked flavor and one of the stars of the show- the egg, had a hard yolk. Even if the rice tasted great, how was I going to get a glorious Bibimbap mix with a hard yolk? And what happened to the typical sunny side up egg in a bibimbap? Quite honestly, this didn't scream amazing taste combination for me and nor am I salivating for more. Service rocks! But I'll pass this "Asian Fusion" spot by. If anything, I'll go for the bubble teas and things.

Yelp
Huge bowls of soups. I would split meals with friends Food is tasty enough ‍Service good. I really don't have much to say‍

Lafayette C.

Yelp
5 stars just on food alone. Bangin asian fusion with a great selection of weekly specials & only the freshest ingredient quality. Price can be a bit high, but the quality of the food merits this. It's a great balance offering 10/10 food and a casual dining experience

Mary C.

Yelp
Terrible management. Do not eat there. They double charged for an online order. Refused to credit me

Yelp
Hands down the Best Braised Pork Bahn Mi Sandwich I Ever Had! Coming from San Diego where I can get one of these anywhere, I'd fly back here for one. I'll be back Yum Yum. Also, spouse said music was on point.

Yelp
Be aware of Junk Fee charges. Food and service is fine until you look at your bill and see on take out orders an additional fee because it is take out. Ruins the entire meal for me and makes them appear as Money Hungry! No one tells you this upfront, it is hidden in the bill. I guess that is part of their Customer Service?

Yelp
The pork tan tan was delicious, and there was a great little place to sit and eat outside the restaurant.

Yelp
This is a great place if you want some bubble tea and ramen in Woodstock! I have been here last year and this year again, and they always have friendly workers and yummy food and drinks! I recommend the taro milk tea which is my favorite.

Yelp
Yum Yum Noodle Bar is my favorite place to eat in Woodstock. Pleasant outdoor seating, a wonderful menu, friendly staff, and good prices. The bento boxes are a delight!

Pam Q.

Yelp
Went there a couple of months ago. Who puts mushrooms in ramen. Lots of other vegetables were put in there like cabbage and carrots. Took up 80% of the ramen. My noodles werent even cooked and they were stuck together. The only thing that they didnt mess up was messing up

Hannah G.

Yelp
Stopped for lunch on a recent visit to Woodstock. Tried two different noodle bowls with braised pork and coconut curry, Korean tacos with kimchi and tofu, chicken satay, brown sugar milk tea, a house made fruit drink with cherries and limes. Everything was good and portions are generous. Worth another visit.

Yelp
Ramen is the best in America and I mean that. Service is excellent. This place deserves 10 stars. All the negative reviews are nonsense. I guess when people have nothing to complain about they'll invent problems to complain about. I think the prices are reasonable and more than fair considering that quality of food is absolutely top notch. Delicious, you will regret not ordering more to take home to heat up later.

Cheryl R.

Yelp
I was working in a hospital for 6 years lived there for 1 week and the food was better than this... this food is horrendous!!! the service was average took 10 minutes for a glass with some water!! they were not even busy and half of the staff were sitting around on their phones!! The ambiance was disgustingly gross! when my cute innocent little daughter , tina walked into this disgusting establishment, she said that it smelled horrendous, and gagged multiple times!! you made my daughter very sick, disgusting! 1 star.

Yelp
Yum Yum is located in Woodstock, a cute little town with a lot of shops and food options! I ate dinner at Yum Yum on a Friday night, they have a lot of outdoor seating and the service was very quick! I ordered a noodle bowl, which you can customize by choosing your own noodles, broth, and protein. I ordered the coconut curry broth, which was an interesting blend of Thai curry and ramen! It wasn't spicy, but had a lot of flavor! There is a big parking lot located right next to the restaurant where you can pay $10 for all day parking.

Laura J.

Yelp
I have been a customer for years, but usually dine in. I have always found the food and service to be reliable. Nice to sit outside in the warmer months or inside during the winter. It has been quite some time since I ordered anything for takeout, so imagine my surprise when I see a dopey surcharge for takeout. While not a hefty charge- I think a buck and change- still...you're not serving me, you're not cleaning the table or dishes from me, you're just handing me a bag. Am I paying for the takeout containers? Come on guys! If you begin to deliver and charge a fee I'm good with that, but this seems needless. I haven't even seen these charges in the city.

Yelp
Yum yum yummy!! Fresh ingredients and tasty. A lot of variety of Asian inspired food offered. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I said this place is a hidden gem!

David T.

Yelp
Yum Yum Noodle Bar is an asian fusion restaurant, so you will be treated to an interpretation of asian food. The BiBimBap (Korean ricebowl) was good. The ramen soup bases were not for us (we tried tonktsu and miso flavors), as we we all grew up with authentic ramen soup. The ramen toppings and noodles were acceptable, however, so if you like asian fusion style of soup you might be very satisfied. I also tried the grass fed burger which was good. Enjoy!

Linda N.

Yelp
We always have a great experience at Yum Yum in Woodstock! The service is great, the location central and clean and the food delish.

Yelp
Saw several people being recommended to this place really wanted to try the noodle bowl but it was a little too hot today so decided on the Rock City special which was very tender moist and flavorful chicken with vegetables in a Thai basil sauce with brown rice the time Martini was super good with lemongrass Ginger

Brendan O.

Yelp
Great spot, always enjoy their good grub and easy hospitality. The affordable Asian infused menu is a welcome beacon in the heart of town; centrally located warm and welcome with good drink to boot. What more do you really want????

Yelp
My husband and I came here and it was the best choice ever. It was great to come here for a quick dinner and just to relax and enjoy the night. First time having a vegetable noodle bowl and it was delicious. I would highly recommend anyone coming here.
google avatar

Bernadette P.

Yelp
The noodle bowl made me add some stars. Pretty decent, not amazing but acceptable. The coconut curry sauce on it gets me as close to a Thai curry as I can get in Woodstock!
google avatar

Christian S.

Yelp
If you've never had food before you might consider this place good. Otherwise I would stay away. I ordered the ramen noodles with chicken and pork broth and pork belly protein. For $19 dollars I would expect a little flavor but the broth was flavorless. The noodles were decent but you really can't mess that up if you tried. I came with my family who ordered other meals and were as displeased as me. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and try their boba tea and they somehow messed that up as well. It tasted like taro sink water with tapioca. I would have rather stayed hungry.

Yelp
I stopped by and ordered the fried pork dumplings, peanut noodles, and a bowl of ramen. The pork dumplings tasted like pulled pork empanadas inside of wonton wrappers. It was tasty, but certainly not dumplings. The peanut noodles tasted legit like cold noodles in peanut butter, it was disgusting. The ramen was alright. The restaurant was alright, food is edible, but the peanut noodles are honestly almost offensive to me. Disgusting. Peanut noodles should have some spice and umami flavor to them - they should not taste like noodles in a jar of thinned out peanut butter.

Yelp
Spending a weekend in the Catskills area, my friends and I decided to stop by Woodstock and we stumbled upon Yum Yum Noodle Bar. I was honestly a bit skeptical coming from an abundance of authentic Asian restaurants in Queens/NYC, but we decided to stick with this spot among others because we were all craving Asian food and very hungry at this point. When we walked in, the bento box caught my eye. A bento box is typically quite filling with an assortment of options and the price was fairly decent, so I decided to go with the ginger noodles and chicken stir-fry option. First, I got the miso soup to begin with. At first sip, I was disappointed. It does taste like miso soup, but it was way too watered down for me. Secondly, the sauce on the ginger noodles/salad had no distinct taste. The noodles definitely had the ginger kick to it with mini pieces of ginger inside. Thankfully, it wasn't too powerful for me not to eat. And lastly, the chicken was subpar. I honestly didn't have much high expectations coming in and as expected, it was a very okay meal. I did however ended up eating everything because I was super hungry, but sorry to say, I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for authentic or even close to authentic Asian food.

Carolyn B.

Yelp
Huge disappointment - The food was bland, under seasoned and not a fresh herb to be found. Truly flavorless. I sent my mushy chicken Pad Thai with grey previously frozen (?) broccoli back after one hesitant bite. We were ok with the appetizers -pork buns and dumplings - they were not memorable - just ok. We should have stopped there. Would not recommend this place. Service was fair- felt bad for our waitress as it must be depressing serving this food. We were a party of six and it was a disappointing end to an otherwise fun day shopping in Woodstock. I suggest that anyone looking for authentic, flavorful food - Eat at Tinker Taco- had an amazing lunch there.

Yelp
Big fan of their cocktails, specials & regular menu items. Both outdoor & indoor spaces are casual, fun My son loves the bento boxes & im all in on the Imposdible burger with kimchi & all tcurries.
google avatar

Mari M.

Yelp
3.5 stars - this place has a lot of good about it - kind and considerate staff, quick service, patio area with heaters, lots of vegan options. The food was good, not great but the overall experience was lovely. Their homemade seitan was surprisingly good and the coconut curry broth was delicious. I wouldn't get the bibimbap again; but the tofu on it was tasty. Would go back to try more and enjoy the cute spot!

Stan S.

Yelp
If you're a fan of gummy noodles, thin watery sauces, over-cooked proteins, small portions and high prices then YumYum is the place for you. We gave it another try after a dispiriting experience last year and it has sunk from mediocre to just, plain terrible. Udon noodles arrived smashed into a take out container slid out in a compressed puck that could never be untangled...which was fine since they were cold, pasty and tasted of raw flour. The formerly reliable coconut broth has transformed into a diluted mess. I could go on and on... Dumplings?...awful and crazy overpriced Peanut noodles? Even worse. It's time for an overhaul.

Yelp
We happen to be on a little road trip & ended up taking a detour to Woodstock since it happen to be on our path. it was a cool day & after looking to see what we can eat came across this place. Social distancing in place & they have outside dinning set up, we didn't have to wait & were seated right away. No appetizers , drinks to start we both had Teas , Green & Tropical both good, tropical has a better taste. on the ramen I went with the Ramen noodle in vegetable broth & added Chicken , very good nice tasting broth , good egg & veggies really hit the spot on that cool day. Hubby had the Udon noodles , vegetable broth & pork also very good. Nice little place, services was good & prices were not bad , we enjoyed our noodles & would would come back if visiting the area.

Yelp
Had a great meal here. We got 3 different types of noodles and all were delicious :) my husband and 11mo both enjoyed the outdoor seating and food. I built my own bowl and the chicken (dark meat) and veggie broth were both delicious. I want to go back!

Mikyle R.

Yelp
absolutely horrendous, my pad thai was drowned with a watery base as it shouldn't. chicken was also dry and the assortment of vegetables was bad. it looks like a dog littered on my plate.
google avatar

Liz S.

Yelp
We visited this town last weekend and it is just so very cute. I wanted some tasty food so decided this cuisine is what I needed. We arrived and were greeted by a friendly host, we got a table outside; luckily we sat next to the only working heater, we got lucky bc even though they had 4 other heaters they said those others didn't work? So others were uncomfortable with the cold, but we weren't. We enjoyed the ambience, and they seem to have an extensive menu. Unfortunately what we ordered wasn't impressive, our plates had good presentation but were lacking taste.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here on the recommendation of a few friends who frequent the area. Walking in the restaurant feels spacious. Bench seating throughout with the exception of a high top table in the center of the dining room. Get here early as the seats seem to fill up fast both times I came here. Service is good here and friendly. My first trip I ordered a bowl of ramen and we also picked up an order of steam buns w/pickles and Bahn Mi. Both are delicious and neatly presented. I felt that the broth for my ramen bowl fell short on flavor and my protein of braised pork was over cooked and tough but my kids loved it. They enjoyed the control of creating their own bowls with the choices the menu offered. Also, we all had bubble teas which were very good. I shortage of bubbles in those. On my second trip out, I decided to shy away from the ramen and try a different offering. I ended up going for the Bibimbap. I was disappointed immediately when it wasn't served in a hot stone bowl as any authentic bibimbap should be presented. Digging in I found a good amount of flavor and all the other key ingredients were there. I did miss out on the Gochujang red bean paste that Korean restaurants usually serve in a small side dish but my extra order of KimChi made up the extra spice I needed. One thing I will also point out about this restaurant is the noise level. It is very loud. My first time there someone's lighter exploded in the kitchen according to our server when an extremely loud Bang! Shot through the establishment frightening everyone dining. The kitchen is not closed off and sits in the back corner so you can hear all the cooking and pots and pans going. Once it fills up in the dining room, the volume needed to have a conversation at your table has to be turned up to hear your party over the kitchen and other guests. Other than that, the restaurant is clean and overall I think the food is good and worth the prices they charge. The noodles are very good as they should be for a noodle bar and the ingredients used taste and appear to be fresh. I'd just like to see a more elegant broth and quieter atmosphere when I'm dining out.
google avatar

Amanda K R.

Yelp
Perfect weather for outdoor dining, or at least it was on our visit... patio heaters, socially distanced tables and yes, indoor dining as well. Basically an eclectic list of noodle varieties, broths, proteins and vegetables that you can mix and match to create your own dish or choose from standard thai or asian mainstays. Friendly service, nice selection of IPAs and other brews and a great place to take in the sites, sounds and people gawk. Serving portions are HUGE and you will definitely be well fed. Reasonable pricing, parking nearby.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
We stumbled into Yum Yum while visiting Woodstock over Labor Day Weekend. We were blown away by the wide range of (delicious) things on the menu but my three friends and I went with the noodle bowls. We all got the coconut base and it was UNREAL, 10/10 recommend. Our proteins and noodles were all different, but the consensus was the same - the food was amazing and there was more than any of us could finish. Hoping to make it back up for lunch again soon!
google avatar

Daniel V.

Yelp
Great location and visually appealing upon first sight. When you walk inside there's plenty of seating. We arrived around noon and had the pick of seating. Ordered three bowls of ramen soup, each bowl had pork and chicken broth, two opted for pork belly and one for shrimp. The fourth order was for the tofu sandwich. Amazing staff. Clearly hard working and committed to ensuring you have a great visit. Unfortunately, everyone served in our party had the same comment: "food lacked any flavor". I thought that would be for the soup, because of the broth. But no, it was all the way around to include the sandwich. I finished my bowl because I really don't like wasting food, and the ingredients were fresh, after all. The rest of the soup eaters in my party did not. We are serious soup eaters of traditional Vietnamese pho, and have also had ramen soup in Philadelphia (great flavor). It seems we may have missed the heading of this restaurant. It states, "Our take on..." That explains everything! Five stars for the staff, one for the food. That's 2.5 stars. So, I've rounded up!
google avatar

Katheryn L.

Yelp
Don't pay attention to the bad reviews. Yum Yum is one of the best deals in town and the staff is super sweet and helpful. I was curious about where the meat comes from and my waitress took the time and interest to share with me the source of every meat that they use. Their burger is antibiotic and hormone, free and local... and delicious!!! The BiBimBop is bomb. They also have a delicious kale salad. Great place to bring your kids/family.
google avatar

Marisa P.

Yelp
So bland. Terrible " Asian" cuisine. Lacks any flavor spice or interesting flavors. Soup was extremely oily
google avatar

Felicia P.

Yelp
The noodle bowls here are awesome! I recommend the coconut broth in the noodle bowl. The chicken in the noodle bowl is also really, really good. The second time I went I got the shrimp, and it was plentiful! Rare for a shrimp dish in a restaurant. The veggie broth was just ok; the coconut is way better. The veggie dumplings were also awesome. Thais place is great for outdoor dining or takeout!
google avatar

Deana M.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place because it has some vegan options. However I wasn't really impressed by the food. Atmosphere: It is set up with large tables to share, bar seating, and a few high top tables. It is a casual setting. The bathroom is pretty cool (bring a sharpie!). Staff: Friendly, fast moving. This is a busy place and they do keep up. Food: I got the vegan bento box special and it did come with a lot of food, but I wasn't impressed with the flavors. My husband got the Vegan Bahn Mi and he said it was very good, but wasn't super impressed either. We got a Thai bubble tea, which was oversweetened and overpriced. We also got the vegan gelato, and that was amazing! Price is a little on the expensive side.

Kristen M.

Yelp
If you are a Ramen junkie skip Yum Yum. This is a good spot for young children as its rather bland.

Yelp
Really great Thai place. The noodles are good and the portions are very generous. I would recommend ordering Chicken satay on a stick, that comes with a peanut dipping sauce. I've ordered the dumplings twice and enjoyed the dish both times. The vibe is very casual and they have outdoor seating, which makes them dog friendly!

Jill K B.

Yelp
I had the: coconut curry ramen, pad thai with shredded pork, pork dumplings I am always so happy every time...food is incredible. Every time is soooooo good. Lo key atmosphere and high end food.
google avatar

Tatyana A.

Yelp
Delicious. Especially on a rainy day. I had the ramen bowl with chicken/pork broth and beef. Side of lemon and ginger tea. Cute lightbulb style tea holder! Extremely filling and had enough for leftovers!

Yelp
Nice outdoor space in vibrant town. Quick service. We ordered noodle bowls With three different broth bases (miso, vegetable and pork) and three different noodles. Fortunately there was siracha on the table as all three bowls needed a boost. The cider sake was delicious.
