難吃!非常失望!Huge disappointment.
Finally came to Yumcha after reading positive reviews about the place. May be my expectations were too high.
The place where Yumcha is, The Commons, is a kind of contemporary food mall housing more artisan eateries. The concept is interesting.
On finding out Yumcha it was a surprise. It turns out it’s a rundown fast food shop with a high sounding concept, and running by two clueless employees who don’t care much about customers or food. They don’t seem to care.
As for the food, I ordered their signature BBQ Pork Noodles, Siu long bao and an Oolong tea. The signature bbq pork is dry. Overcooked. It was so dry that I only finished 2 of the 6 pieces. They may look good in photos, but they are so dry. The fried egg is over cooked too. The noodles, warmish, nothing special.
The Siu long bao are not so bad. At least they still hold the hot broth after being reheated. But they don’t taste fresh.
I was imagining an artisan eatery with a passionate entrepreneur bringing the taste of Hong Kong to Bangkok. Instead I found an inauthentic fast food joint that use cheap labor to churn out soulless products. Not worth my effort.
