One of thee best Japanese restaurants in a 10 mile radius. Highly recommend. Everything I ordered was basically a 9.5-10/10.

From start to finish this was the best restaurant experience I’ve had. The staff was incredible and the food was impeccable. From options to flavor to plating…it was perfection. 12 dishes later (yes 12), I was overwhelmed with how good every single one was. I’d come back 100 times over, it was that good! Thank you Yumi!!!

Yumi has been one of my favorite restaurants in the entirety of Monmouth County for the 10+ years I lived in this community. Firstly, the location is gorgeous right by the water. See sunset pic below as proof! Secondly, the menu is absolutely massive, from sushi and other raw fish dishes to items fully cooked from the kitchen, I’ve never had anything here that I didn’t like. Many of the items on the menu are also super innovative - things I don’t typically see at other Japanese restaurants, even in New York City. Thirdly, this place is super buttoned up in terms of service and how the dishes are plated. I love coming here and hope it’s around for years to come.

The food here is amazing and the owner/head chef is super knowledgeable and welcoming. We love the omakase and wagyu. Having come back from Japan, this is the only place we have found so far that are comparable in terms of ingredients, flavor, authenticity and creativity!

The food here is outstanding. The plating is creative and beautiful. We had everything from the tuna tacos to pork belly ramen to a banana and chocolate pouch for dessert. There were 8 of us so we tried a lot of items and there were no disappointments here. You must try this place when you are near Sea Bright.

Yumi , is our go to place to get NYC style sushi. Pictures tell the story better than words. Hands down the best sushi in Monmouth county.

Not a good value. Good sushi is hard to find in this area and this is good sushi, but the nigiri is the size of a finger for 50% more than normal size anywhere else. Specialty rolls are $23. Not worth it.

Amazing food, fresh sushi, and very reasonable prices. The service was fantastic, even though we went on a very busy holiday weekend evening. The wasabi octopus appetizer was so good; thinly sliced octopus with just the right level of spice. I'm still dreaming about it. Presentation was simple but elegant. And, now I'm hungry.

Had dinner here this past weekend. The sushi was really good, fresh and the presentation was awesome. It was a packed house, which affected the service a bit. Overall, great friendly environment and great sushi. Definitely recommend!

There are so many good options here even if youre vegetarian. The apps that are great: truffle salmon sashimi, yellowtail, yuzu salad with parm basket, the tuna pizza, Tuna crispy rice! Its probably the only decent sushi spot on the jersey shore. We come regularly here.

Seabright traffic on a sunny holiday afternoon is outrageous and their parking routine sucks but Yumi somehow made our excursion worthwhile. Some of the very best sushi and other Japanese delectable dishes abound at this popular destination. From the sublime to the simple you will surely find ample selections to please your palette. Check out the many photos of their dishes to get an idea then venture over to Seabright and while there stop in Tommy's or Woody's for a libation..

FABULOUS! I've had good sushi. I've been to Japan. I know good sauces. This place is beyond good. It's a BYOB. I love it.

Honestly overpriced sushi Service is solid but the fish is not great, preparation is above par while the prices are outrageous. BYOB is a positive, indoor and outdoor (sidewalk) dining available.

We went here last night for Easter dinner and the service and food are exceptional. The music is awesome and makes the ambiance even more aesthetic. The sushi is incredible and they are chef inventors and never disappoint. They have a sauce that it would be awesome if the bottles and sold it or for the first time we wished for bread in a sushi restaurant. A must for a foodie and both Sea Bright and Red Bank are great.

This is one of my favorite spots for sushi and I don't say that lightly. The appetizers are always a hit and I look forward to coming here for every special occasion. The notable apps are the garlic salmon sashimi, sushi pizza, and the fluke. But really everything is so good and the service is great because the place is small. Can't wait to come back!

This is one of our favorite places for fresh delicious sushi selection! It's byob. We are never let down by the service and food & quality. We have a few things that are our favorite. The mushroom salad is so so good if you like mushrooms. The Wagyu carpaccio is out of this world and sooooo tasty. The Sesame toro is same AMAZING. The famous rice crispy roll is hands down delish and worth trying! The salmon, eel, uni, toro, and tuna sashimi are ALWAYS fresh and amazing. The tuna pizza is my favorite as well for an app although it's on the heavier side so it's suitable to share. The sea bright roll & the lobster one is our favorite as well. The mochi and banana dessert is so good. One of our favorite sushi spots in NJ! During the summer it's the best because of the beach is across the street and summer vibes Everywhere!

The food is amazing. The chefs are artists. We drive about 4 hours round trip to eat here. We come 2 or 3 times a year. It is well worth the trip. The place is so friendly and welcoming.

This place is simply great. Warm service, fresh sushi, and all around excellent dishes. Softi was our server and she was attentive, kind, and fantastic. Will continue to enjoy sushi and other delicious dishes at this shore gem.

Overpriced and food that made me so sick. I just can't understand why so many places in this area the food is terrible and makes me sick.

We had a sushi feast tonight and it was wonderful. Ordered 4 special rolls and 2 apps and it was all delicious.Delivery was prompt and courteous, Can't wait to do it again!

The ingredients are fresh and some of the rolls are created with a unique combination of ingredients. I like that the names of some of the rolls play homage to the local area (Sea Bright, Sandy Hook, Ocean Ave and Rumson Roll). The seaweed salad was good with a generous serving; enough to easily feed 2. The prices on some of the items are a little higher than I've seen for their equivalents at other restaurants. But, Yumi does offer the option to eat sushi on the shore in Sea Bright. We did take-out, but Yumi does offer the BYOB option for those dining in.

We had takeout from Yumi and I wasn't particularly impressed. The food was good, but not great. Is it good enough for a 4? Eh, I don't think so. The soft shell crab in my Mame spider roll was disappointing, overly breaded and fried to a crisp so you didn't get much crab flavor and more oily thick breading taste. The rice was a bit dense too. The Shuen roll was pretty decent. The tuna sashimi pizza has a generous portion of tuna tartare and good flavor combination. The Avo ebi cone was a little unusual, not for my palate (I found it overly citrusy) but my friend thought it was interesting and enjoyed it. The Pan grilled duck breast had a layer of some hard to chew fat but otherwise was decent- not particularly noteworthy. The salmon cucumber roll was also fine. Overall- this wasn't a bad meal- but it wasn't a great meal, and for the prices, taste and value I wouldn't recommend it.

We were new to the Sea Bright area and on a whim decided to try Yumi. We read the reviews and were hopeful. We were more than pleased with the level of service and the food. We loved that it is BYOB and they didn't charge a corkage fee. We will definitely return to Yumi the next time we are in the area.

So we went out looking for a pleasant sushi experience. We were shocked from the pure hatred acts of service. I am disgusted. We ordered our food at 7:15. we got our appetizers at 8:00, even though they were all uncooked items. We then waited over an hour trying to get our entrees out of the kitchen. Didn't check up on us, and lied to our faces about the sushi rice not being ready. We will not be coming back and neither should anyone that sees this. They then charged us for everything we ate without any sense of care for our souls. We left at 9:00. What the hell. I am aggravated.

Food is always fresh and delivered in a timely manner. I love the duck egg rolls and the spicy tuna roll.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in seabright. The food is always fantastic and no matter what I order I am always amazed with my meal! Servers are also great and always efficient, happy and polite. Can't wait to return I recommend to anyone looking for great sushi and BYOB option :)

Hands down best sushi in the area. Quality ingredients and the rolls are always made well. They have a large menu of high quality options that is worth considering, we just tend to get rolls. BYOB.

We happened to be in the area, saw the amazing ratings and reviews (26 in another rating site proudly displayed in the entrance). It was Saturday 8pm, the place was packed, but luckily the sushi bar was wide open, red light started to blink but we ignored it, we also paid no mind to the slow service, as the place was packed, however we did find it somewhat odd that the sushi chefs (all 6 of them) did not seem overly busy, by this point air raid sirens should have been blaring in my head, but alas we ordered a few specials and a few classic rolls, as well as ramen for the kids and a couple of miso for us. Here there was another surprise, there is only "chicken rice miso soup", which was bland and just plain odd, and for $6 a pop just served as a slap in the face. Then came the shrimp tampura roll, where do I start? On the good side beautifully presented and indeed shrimp, that being said it was, cold, bland, with a bizarre addition of fried crispy Israeli couscous on the rice, the combo did not work well. The special nigiri where pretty decent, but tiny. And as for the rest of the rolls were as good as any airport sushi restaurant. All this for a substantial amount of dollars, that could have been much better spent at the next door take out only Chinese place for 10 happier dinners.

This place had great sushi! The one thing I loved about their menu is that you can create your own roll. You can choose one base of fish or vegetable and then add as many other things you want listed on the menu. I asked for jalepeno in mine and it wasn't listed in the menu and they still got it! Edamame and vegetable gyoza were good too! The atmosphere was nice, food came really fast and fresh and staff was very friendly. The staff was maybe a bit too quick to clean our plates away as I was not able to lick my plate clean after eating my meal This place is BYOB. They have a wine menu for full bottles only. I do not recommend the rose it was no bueno.

I was visiting family in Rumson recently, having Yumi Sushi take out. The quality of what I ordered, the Shuenn Roll, was first rate. It had a great presentation, which I don't usually think of for take out, and the synthesis of the flavors were first rate. My only complaint was I wish there were more pieces....I was saddened when I had the last bite of it. I am looking forward to returning there.

This was seriously seriously one of the best meals I've had in a long time! The sushi was super fresh. I highly recommend the scallion pancake. One of my favorite of many things we ordered. Everything was exceptionally delicious. Now I know why it's impossible to get a reservation here!

The best sushi I've ever had! So fresh!! Creative flavors/sauces. The cooked fish is also excellent. We especially love the Miso Black Cod. Plus the pork gyoza are so tender and flavorful. Favorites also include the Ocean Avenue Roll which features shrimp tempura wrapped in soy paper on a bed of amazing sauces. The best tuna tacos I've ever had as well. The organic salmon sushi with fresh wasabi and the king salmon sushi melt in your mouth.

Solid place also doing takeout during covid. I'm not reviewing for an in person experience. Fresh fish. Also was ready in 20 minutes too. You can order over the phone as well and just pay when you get there. Special rolls are more expensive than I've seen in the area so subtracting for price. Their salmon, tuna, white tuna rolls were very good though. Would order again.

I've heard so many AMAZING things about Yumi, so I finally made my way over to check it out. It was a nice night so we opted to sit outside. It's BYOB. Service was quick and attentive, the waitress was fun and playful. She brought us an ice bucket for our wine. We were waiting on a fourth member of our party so we weren't in a rush to order entrees. We ordered edamame and tuna pizza to hold us over. The edamame was good, served with a lime. However I felt it was overpriced (at $7). Typically edamame is around $5 max. $2 may seem subtle but keep reading. The tuna pizza was delicious, the pancake was crispy, the tuna was fresh. But again ,$16 for a tuna pizza, very overpriced. When the fourth party member finally arrived, we had a hard time tracking down the waitress. I understand we told her we were waiting, but at a certain point it was like we were forgotten. We ordered 3 rolls, the sandy hook, the ocean ave, and the lobster roll. We got one roll brought out, then the other two took some time to come out. Not sure why we were served that way but. They were all very fresh, not overly stuffed with rice, and just overall delicious. These rolls ranged from $14-16. Again, in my opinion they were overpriced. The special rolls we usually order from multiple restaurants range from $8-max $15 for a higher end roll. A majority of the rolls at Yumi were $15 and up. After splitting the check 3 ways, (the fourth member paid separately) it came to $43 a person. In my opinion, and experience, $43 / person for dinner without liquor is just very high. Generally when you order drinks that's about the cost, but for a BYOB sushi place, it's definitely pricey. We had a hard time getting the waitress when we tried to pay the bill. But overall, it was an ok experience. I'd probably give it 3.5 stars just due to prices and the server kind of forgetting us. The food quality is great, so I guess that gives it a half a star, and makes up for the negatives.

I have eaten here several times. Probably one of the freshest sushi places around. I love there tuna pizza. A little bit pricey but well worth it. The owners are so nice.

If you want sushi, go elsewhere. Fresh? Yes but a large $40 plate of sashimi is not enough for one person for lunch. Their chef signature sauces are a gimmick with no taste. Rolls are good, especially Sea Bright roll. Can't speak of anything else on the menu. Service is good.

Good apps and service. The nigiri was microscopic. $11 for Amaki bluefin and $24 for otoro. Literally robbery. I fish for a living and this is not good sushi on any scale.

Favorite sushi in Monmouth county. The ocean ave roll is the best. Great quality fish. Awesome service and the vibe is fun. A great spot for a date night. Love this place!

Great food, great service, great value! Our server was funny, attentive, and sweet. Each course that came out was better then the previous one. All of the food was incredibly fresh and well-seasoned. I'm looking forward to my return trip.

Yumi was fantastic. The service was outstanding and so was the food. The menu is very large and everything sounded so good and unique. So we ordered a bunch of small plates to share. The miso cod was a stand out for sure. The fish was cooked so well that it tasted like sea bass. The maki with truffle oil was incredible as well. You truly can't wrong with any of the items on the menu. Especially items with fish. All in all this place is a must try for a sushi lover. The best sushi I've had by far.

Please don't be fooled by the beautiful pictures you see on the internet!! Other than the sauce with several colors the rest doesn't look like this at all but most importantly it is not even good sushi!! if you know what good sushi taste like, this place is not it, very average flavor. Yes they charm you with a warm towel and big smiles but if you stop ordering a big amount of sushi and don't intend to spend much that evening the smiles stop right away (that is what my waitress did, I was shocked). The show is there if you are easily charmed but I come for the food and I was sorely disappointed. I will not be coming back and continue to go to my regular sushi place in Fair Haven.

The best sushi in town. Few of the dishes will definitely change your view about sushi if you've never really been a fan of the umami taste. The chef is extremely creative with all the ingredients, combining various ingredients and cooking techniques to create a completely unexpectedly pleasant taste. Almost challenging your taste buds at the same time. Sashimi dishes here are extremely fresh. The toro and kobe beef are fresh from Japan, they are definitely one of the must-try's on the book. My absolute favorites are the soft shell crabs. I still have yet to find a place that makes them half as good as Yumi in the States! Has the perfect amount of crunch on the outside and is extremely favorful without overpowering the natural seafood taste. The toro here are an absolute. They cut it in a way that completely melts in your mouth. Sooo delicious! The pork buns were also great as the porks were cooked for a long time, which extracts a the fats from the meat. But they were extremely tender and not dried at all!

Yumi has some of the best and freshest sushi I've ever had. Love it here and the waitress was so attentive. We had the tuna tacos, tuna pizza, rumsen roll, ocean avenue roll, and fair haven roll. All were great. The tuna pizza is amazing truly a MUST have.

Melt in your mouth sushi! It is very pricey, and byob but it's intimate and the sushi and food really does melt in your mouth. You can taste the quality of the food, sushi, and fish. Their sushi is really really good, and the atmosphere is cute! I like it for date nights, being with friends or a night out with my family. I enjoy the volcano roll, it's on of my favorites!

My number one sushi place. The place is amazing. They rebuilt after Sandy and kept the same atmosphere and friendly staff. It's BYOB and if you're a regular, they'll labor the bottle that you don't finish for your next visit if you'd like. I have been in many sushi places but Yumi is my número uno.
