I apologize beforehand as we were incredibly hungry and ate the entrees before we took pictures of them. This place has become our new go-to. The staff are incredibly polite and attentive. I've been here twice now. First time was too good to be true. Second time just confirmed it for us. Wonderful fresh fish, and amazing rolls. I would definitely order a bento if you'd like to save a little. Will be coming back again and again. Would say it's the best in the area!

My all time favorite place for sushi and sashimi. Its amazing. The service is great and the food is fresh and flavorful. You can tell they all love what they do here! We have been coming here since 2021 when we first moved to Fallbrook and when we are hungry its our first choice. We order delivery a lot, but love stopping in from time to time to enjoy the atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Went for lunch today and got the new Viking Roll, it comes out on fire!! It was so delectable!! So rich and savory! It's spicy salmon, cream cheese, avocado on the inside then outside is baked salmon, and scallops with spicy mayo. Love their bento boxes, they have lots of good options and large portions.

My hubby and I both gave this place a try and we were not disappointed! They have a great staff that is very friendly and welcoming. The sushi rolls and hot food we ordered were so fresh and flavorful. Definitely our new sushi spot in town ❤️

Me and my husband did delivery randomly because I wasn’t feeling good and they were one of the only places we could find to get delivered. We spent a good amount of money as not everything is pictured but we got the midnight sun roll and energy roll which were absolutely amazing! My husband loved the chicken bowl too. The edamame was a total surprise which was so sweet. Didn’t get to see the actual restaurant but definitely will be going back!

My friends and I stopped at this small sushi restaurant after a long day in the sun visiting the avocado festival. We were a bit confused at first since there was no one inside but then a voice in the back welcomed us in. We were seated by a friendly waitress who was both funny and helpful. And while we figured out what to order, she surprised us with shrimp tempura on the house! One of my friends is vegan and the waitress was extremely sweet about helping her out, she pointed out all the items that would fit her dietary guidelines and gave suggestions for what might taste good. For my own order, I chose the three items bento box which came with miso soup, rice, and salad. For the items, I picked the spicy tuna, sushi, and sashimi. My other friends ordered a variety of sushi rolls and bento boxes. The food did take a while to be prepared, though this could be caused by the restaurant being a small establishment and there’s only one sushi chef. If you do come to visit, please be patient since everything is made to order. Once everything came out, I was pleasantly surprised by how large the portion sizes were. Both the sushi and sashimi were large cuts of fish and they were very generous with the amount. Everything tasted fresh and delicious, I enjoyed my bento box. The only thing I wasn’t the biggest fan of was the salad dressing, I’m not sure what the flavor was but it’s not my cup of tea. Overall, this restaurant is worth a visit if you are in the Fallbrook area, the staff were amazing and we had a great time!

1st....I'm Japanese, my mom is 100% Okinawan. So I've eaten a lot of AUTHENTIC Japanese food. Yumi Sushi has done a great job w/authenic flavors. And I was feeding other 100% Japanese friends, knowing that they KNOW what good Japanese food tastes like, they too were impressed w/ the flavors at Yumi Sushi. They asked me for their phone number & address. 2nd-I used Yumi Sushi for my mother's 90th birthday part. I hadn't decided on the restaurant until we went there 2 weeks ago. (which the food was good but service was questionable) but today I had decided to use them on the spur of the moment. $500 & 1 1/2 hours later they had completed the order. (Time I requested). Everything i ordered was actually in my order (I cater a lot.....usually something is missing). Also Yumi Sushi gave me a few extras (edamame & sodas that I didn't order or pay for.....which was very nice) Everything was packaged well, no spillage in my car, food was hot & fresh. I would totally recommend YUMI SUSHI for your next catering event.

This was my first visit to Yumi Sushi and I'm a little disappointed. Stopped for a roll to go Sunday afternoon and settled on their Double Salmon Roll. The restaurant is small, not more than 10 tables, and was not very busy at 4p on a Sunday. Service was friendly and quick and I took my roll home to eat. The roll was very plain and while the description says "salmon, avocado, lemon" on top, which is what drew me to choose it, I got a salmon/cuc in, plain salmon out. No avo. I had several bites before I realized there were some lemon slices in a little cup on the side that I was thinking was ginger. Avocado was nowhere to be found. I will try them again another time when I can sit down for service and update my review.

Pretty decent sushi restaurant. I wasn't hoping for much at this place, but it's actually good. The taste of the fish & oysters was good enough for me. The service was good, but I wished they didn't ask me so frequently if I needed anything. It was hard to relax and enjoy the food when they kept asking me. It just made me feel like they were trying to kick me out. I eat pretty slow and I don't want to over eat which is what ended up happening. I almost threw up. I probably shouldn't have bought that last roll. I liked the toro hand roll and the oysters the best. Pretty good deal! The restaurant is a bit small and cozy. I'll probably come back again if I'm ever in fallbrook.

They charged Me extra for spicy mayo like I requested but I didn't even get the spicy mayo. lol they do this all the time I even call them.

The BEST sushi place ever. The service is amazing! Our whole family loves coming here! Worth any amount of driving or wait! Our kids love the environment and the sushi is TOP QUALITY!

This was a pretty awful experience tonight. We had dinner here and watched the sushi chef berate the server for most of our dinner for things that were out of her control; a spilled beer at the table behind us, a payment issue at another table, a crowded dining room where she was the only server on staff and a sushi chef who didn't seem to appear he was keeping up with orders. A man in the kitchen sounded like he was hacking up lougees. It was not the vibe tonight. The food overall was good but I finally lost my patience when the chef made the server cry. I had to stand up for her, and I personally told the sushi chef his behavior was not only unacceptable but that it was because of him we would not be returning here. Our server Katie was an absolute delight, and I'm sorry tonight wasn't the best! Wishing you better days ahead Katie!

The food all around was delicious! We got gyoza, shrimp fried rice and 2 crunch rolls. The rice was very good, the shrimp were huge and flavorful! The crunch rolls were also very good. We also got sides of spicy mayo and eel sauce to mix with our rice and sushi

This place is amazing! I have not had the sushi for a long, long time and I have eaten over 20 years of sushi. So many other sushi restaurants give you half the size and skimp on so much but this place, OMG, you really get your moneys worth, the sushi rolls are huge. The sushi Nigri are a great size. I would highly recommend this place to everyone!!! This is my new favorite sushi restaurant by far!!!

I had stomach cramps and diarrhea 3 hours after eating there. A salad should not go through you in 3 hours. The sushi was good but the ginger was hard and dried out. The teriyaki beef bowl had no teriyaki flavor at all. The young kids who were serving us were 6 feet away having a conversation about personal things most of the time that we could easily hear. Our female server was very interested in her phone and kept picking it up off the next table to look at it. When the female server brought our bill she stood at the next table and stared at me the whole time I was figuring out the credit payment. Very uncomfortable. Nobody else in the place. Now I know why. "Yumi Sushi" seems like an obvious rip off of Yama Sushi a block away. which is where we usually go and really enjoy. But they're closed on Sundays.

Placed order for pickup, was told it would be 25 minutes, I walk in expecting a busy restaurant.... To my surprise, EMPTY! I'm informed that the sushi chef is not on-site and it would be another 15 minutes... how exactly does one run a restaurant with no chef? Won't be coming back.

Good sushi and great service whenever I order takeout, I've yet to dine in but will definitely need to soon!

I had Gold Dragon Dine in gets 1 free tempura shrimp Lunch special, ordering lunch special roll gets miso soup and salad for $9.99!!! Good food and good service! Nice and clean restaurant.

Understaffed tonight obviously but this is crazy. Ordered online in time for my daughter to pick up an order on the way home from work. She ends up waiting 50 minutes with my seven year old grandson in tow. When she got here 1.5 hours after I placed the order my sesame chicken was inedible. Also got no rice. $19 for crap althought she liked her CA rolls so it wasn't a total loss I guess. I was taking a chance ordering Chinese food from this place but didn't think it would be this bad.

My experience with the spicy garlic edamame was so impressive. The added touch of spiciness making every bite tasty. And their Sushi plate was impressive too. Each piece was not only visually appealing but also very tasty and fresh!!! We also had some fried appetizer and rolls, it was good too! And the service was excellent as well, Highly recommend this cozy sushi place giving it a try~~!!! (I couldn't resist eating the sushi, so I forgot to take a picture of it..... sorry! )

This place is hands down, my absolute favorite sushi place to eat at! I have been here several times throughout the years, and honestly the food just gets better and better every time I go. My last visit, Grace was a wonderful hostess! Very courteous, very kind and very helpful. I love that the restaurant is very small and quaint... It makes the customer service very personable. And the food is just delicious! I've had sushi from many different places, and this is my absolute favorite place! Thank you for the wonderful service.

We have been going here for years. Tonight will be the last time we visit. The sushi was sloppy and falling apart. The sushi rolls were not cut all the way through the fish was a different thickness on each piece. We were there at 4pm on a Friday, the restaurant was not busy. We had tuna in several dishes and it was a different color in each dish. We got a lemon roll and there were 1/2 inch pieces of lemon on top making it uneditable. I hope this new management fixes this.

Always such a great experience at Yumi. High quality always fresh Ingredients and the best service. Celebrated my anniversary here with my boyfriend and had the best time. Anzu and Eddie were amazing! Highly recommend for sushi and a night out.

I've been going to Yumi sushi since 2019 and usually always order the same rolls because they were just THAT amazing. Recently however, they seemed to have hired a new chef and I'm not a fan- He cuts the portions in HALF! Today my family ordered our usual 6 rolls which totaled about $122, but the new chef made them this time and they were tiny. Not only that, usually each roll comes with specific sauces but whenever this chef prepares them he packages 2 tiny rolls into one container and only one sauce (that's half full). I wish this restaurant would use the old chef that put massive rolls into the big white containers and appropriate amounts of sauces for EACH roll!

I normally dislike leaving reviews, especially if it is negative. I can normally walk away from something and say "it's just not for me," but this is the exception. I went to pick up an order for my grandma and I. I ordered the chicken ramen, my grandma ordered the pork udon. I had seen all the good ratings this establishment had, so I was feeling confident in the quality. However, I was let down. It took at least five minutes to even see the server, five more for her to ring up the food. I am unsure if there was a lack of staffing on this day. Most of the tables were dirty and not cleaned up from previous customers, while the existing party at a table had been waiting on something. The server was nowhere to be found. At 7pm, the closed sign had been flipped up, which confused me, seeing the closing time online to be at 9pm daily. Again, small businesses can close early. I have worked in small eateries for years, and I understand needing to close the establishment and all nightly routines for front of house. However, it was not closing time and there was only one larger party eating in the dining room. That is only the surface level. My grandma stated that the udon was very bland. My ramen was a letdown to say the least. A pack of instant ramen is better than this. The chicken had a very gummy texture that even I could not eat. This could be a case of a "woody" chicken breast. Regardless, even after trying to sauté the chicken with some sauce and give it a bit more crispness, however that distinct texture would not go away. It makes me pretty sad, considering I had high hopes for this place. I am glad that many others have had great experiences here, I just wish I could say the same.

First visit impressions: Our server was wonderful. We ordered the Bento box with shrimp tempura and also vegetable tempura, which contains lots of veggies and one shrimp. It would have been delicious if it had the actual original Japanese tempura batter on everything. Unfortunately, this place cooks their "tempura" with PANKO! We did not enjoy the coating and I left most of the panko in the bento box and just ate the veggies without the coating. The salad was delicious and the miso soup was delicious. What a shame that the tempura was not. We won't be returning to Yumi Sushi. One more note: The place is small and does a busy take--out business, which means that the people picking up their orders were rather close to our table. I suggest not sitting near the front door for this reason.

Ramen bowl is literally instant ramen. It's a shame and very disappointing Vegetable Ramen

If I could put CERO stars I would. This is by far the worst sushi I have ever tasted. Any supermarket sushi is way way better. The fish is dry, stinky, cheap, fishy and old. The manager's argument was that its because the Uber diver drove more than it should. WTF!!! On top of it they missed part of the order. Do yourself a favor and SAVE THE MONEY!!!!!! Worst $200 dollars spent!!!

I don't know when they changed their rice recipe after the Change of ownership. All I have to say is, lay back on the mirin in your rice su. Sushi- is it not that sweet in flavor. The rice is so sweet it takes away from any flavor that you would expect, Putting Bonita flakes in the ponzu was money. They don't do that anymore, new ownership brought that, it was awesomeness. When we get sushi we usually go here. Rolls were fresh 2/3 times, the last time the rice was a little hard which was disappointing. I am grateful they are always open when we need some sushi and don't feel like driving 20 mins!

The food and service have always been good. The prices however are high for the amount of food. I was just there last week, order two cut rolls to go and it was $38.00. A spicey dragon roll and a rainbow roll. 6 pieces each roll. The diameter of each roll is a little smaller than a fifty cent piece. The online menu says the rolls are all around $8.00 each. I have sat down and eaten there twice. Order to go about 10 times. Everytime I see the bill I say the say thing, I won't do this again. It however is one of the only sushi places I know of near our home. Good food and services, high prices.

Quality sushi, you can taste the freshness! The rolls are a good size, employees always greet with a big smile. Great service, will definitely be going back

The last two times, the quality had noticeably declined, but the very last time it was just terrible. I had a cut roll and a hand roll, and they both were the worst tasting I had ever had. The previous time the fish just tasted a bit old, but this time they were bland with a slight chemical taste. Apparently there are new owners, and boy have they borked this place up. Too bad, I really liked the old owners and the food they made...

The staff and chef are very friendly and inviting. The food is delicious. We would recommend this place to anyone and everyone looking to try a good sushi restaurant.

Sometimes, new ownership can really sink a classic local restaurant. Terrible service. Apparently all my favorite servers quit because ownership is extremely inappropriate.

Food is good, service is not the best. Ambiance is small. The lady serving us, kept getting angry because I asked for spicy Mayo, wasabi and eel sauce, did not provide napkins or water, and got mad when we asked for some. Mind you OUR bill was like $103. Will just be going to a different spot next time. Don't need anyone getting mad or laughing when I ask for a side.

My new favorite sushi place in town! Their bento box is a great deal!! Salad, rice, and miso soup comes with it! Their sushi was great too! I am a fan of the spicy tuna. When I ate here the service was great and fast! I believe this place is more affordable than the other sushi place in town which is great! I also like the crunch roll and Alaskan Roll! And if you are not into sushi rolls they have other stuff as well. I got the shrimp tempura udon soup and it was very yummy! I definitely will be back!

The worst sushi experience of my life. Horrible quality. Rude owner. Hot and stuffy with sticky tables. My son and I were in the area for a doctor's appointment so we decided to get a sushi lunch at Yumi. We ordered two rolls, a cucumber salad and a miso soup. I ordered a roll I always order at every sushi restaurant I go to...the one with like 5-6 fish inside, wrapped in cucumber on the outside. Different restaurants call it different things but here they call it the "Hawaiian Roll". The little picture on the menu looked good...solid fish! When it arrived, it was two tiny slivers of fish and about a pound of imitation crab wrapped in cucumber sliced into 6 large pieces! It was 80% FAKE CRAB! For $16.99?? I wish I took a photo. It didn't look appetizing but I tried it and ended up spitting it out into my napkin, which I've never done before in my life! I thought I was going to be sick. My son also tried it and wasn't a fan. I then dissected a third piece to just eat the slivers of actual fish and the outer cucumber and left a pile of the nasty fake crab. Our sever came over and I asked her if it was fake crab and she said yes. I told her I was so sorry and I didn't know there would be crab in the roll, (let alone 80% imitation crab) and I cannot eat imitation crab meat. She took the dish away. When she brought the bill, the roll was still on there. She said we ate more than half the roll, which we didn't! I left piles of imitation crab on the plate along with three huge pieces. I asked her if there was something we could do. This is when the owner came out from the back, with his arms outstretched aggressively, staring at me and yelling and approached my table with my 12 year old son sitting there!! He was verbally abusive, yelled over me, interrupted me and I hope that the nice server finds better people to work for.

Welcome to Fallbrook, Yumi Sushi!! I don't know what happened to my earlier review on 3/23/2019. But in a nutshell: New business means a time for adjustments to get into a flow. Patience will need to be practiced by us, the guests. Limited seating, maybe call in your order ahead of time if you're on a schedule. Employees are doing their best to keep the flow and harmony in the dining room. Plenty of parking, so no worries. I'm happy to have another restaurant to choose from here in Fallbrook, Avocado Capitol of the World!

Seems like the only sushi restaurant open in Fallbrook on a Monday night, so that was a PLUS. Only one waitress and she was overwhelmed. But when she did make it to your table, service was great and she was on top of things. Prices were reasonable and the food was not bad. Menu was not large and did not have too many choices, but we enjoyed our experience at Yumi. Owner/Chef was especially attentive even from behind the counter.

Last week ordered take out. Fish almost nonexistent in rolls with way too much vinegar in rice. Wasabi (likely fake Wasabi) was old looking and browned. Gross! In my opinion, if you eat here, you're a fool.

OMG. I am embarrassed for them! They are so disgusting! How do I give zero stars? I ordered $100 of food for two people because the good sushi in Fallbrook was closed for the night. My wife was craving so I caved. We are both heavy wasabi users. I specifically said that the most important part of the $100 order was a golf ball size of wasabi. I arrived and the order was ready on time. I opened the order and saw that there was effectively zero wasabi. I informed the nice lady that I ordered a golf ball size wasabi. She said that's $10 extra! I said to keep the sushi as we can't eat it without wasabi. The owner did come out after a psycho customer went nutz. He gave me some wasabi. I paid. We ate it and found it disgusting and gross. The sushi was old, smelly and gross. I feel sick already. Most will go in the trash or to the chickens. Stay away from this hell hole!

Quality and cleanliness are top priority. Their customer service is on point. Everything is perfection. I come here regularly. At least once a week. Sometimes two or three. I highly recommend the lunch special. They are quick with to go orders too. Especially if you call in advance or order online. Very fair prices. Fantastic menu. Food quality is top tier. Anzu and Mr Chen are phenomenal.

The food was absolutely delicious and came to the table in a speedy manner. However, the ambiance was rather awkward. There was no music or background sound other than the folks speaking in the kitchen. I caught the waitress staring at some points. Made me a little self conscious haha.

Bento box which was often used in Japan is created here at Yumi Sushi but in small carry home items if you are not going to stay and eat in this small cozy, clean, friendly place! The prices are clearly listed in the menu and on the chalk board of daily prices... But to eat it hot it is necessary to say here and eat it as it is served fresh and hot! I look forward to stopping by at least once a week, but never on Tuesday as they get to stay home one day per week! If you are new to this food - try the bento box with your pick out of the list to get the hot soup, side salad and hot white rice as well as your favorite. Mine is fish or veggies!

Thank you for being open today on Thanksgiving!! we had a great dinner. Chef made real quality energy, spicy tuna, and halepeno bomb rolls for us. The albacore was really good and big portions! Not a crowd at all so ambiance was great. Thanks again for being there!!!!

I feel like it used to be good. Something changed. Much smaller, much less fish on the rolls, fried items tasted like old grease. Rolls were NOT according to the menu. Sadly won't be back.

Portions are small and dishes are bland. Tried it twice and not giving them a third chance.
