The name lives up to the hype! Such yummy Chinese dishes…love their Westlake soup, chow mein, sweet & sour pork, chow fun noodles, and one of the most flavorful chicken wings!!! They have so many good dishes to choose from. This is definitely one our go-to’s for take-out!

Google
When we lived just up the street, we were at Yummy Cafe at least a couple nights a week. Vivian and Wei are so kind, and the Cantonese comfort food was always a huge draw on busy weeknights. We've since moved away, but I still miss their chicken/salty fish fried rice, garlic sauteed pea vines, and salt and pepper tofu and chicken wings.

Google
The right restaurant at the right time. Walking through the Burke-Gilman trail sure builds an appetite. You can practically smell food a block away. The Two Dinner plate was everything I hoped for in a meal. Warm soup, chicken, beef, pork and veggies. Compliments to the chef. Yum!

Google
Our favorite neighborhood Chinese restaurant! We haven’t had a bad meal here. Always a great choice when we want take out. Egg flower soup and the almond chicken are some of our fav.

Google
Food was horrible! No flavor looked like they mixed white rice with scrambled eggs and vegetables wasn't even fried. Orange chicken and walnut shrimp for soggy. The beef and broccoli tasted like minced meat. Do not recommend!

Luna Buyukcetin

Google
I loved this place!!! The honey walnut shrimp was amazing! 🤩 Dine in or take out either way the food is always so good! I recommend this place for anyone visiting this area. Especially people who enjoy Chinese food.

Google
We got egg rolls and they were great, but the orange chicken, fried rice, and honey walnut shrimp lacked flavor. The food was hot but the meat was mushy and flavorless so we didn’t end up eating most of it. Really wanted to love it cause the service was friendly

Google
Ordered beef and black bean sauce. It was amazing. Very fresh veggies and good flavor of the sauce. I highly recommend their food. Was stopping here from Canada.

Yelp
I was very much in the mood for simple, no frills Chinese food. I was also cold so I definitely was in need of some hot soup. Luckily they serve up some free hot tea upon sitting down. This is a welcome start. To warm up a large shared bowl of 'Hot And Sour Soup' soup was in order. Definitely hot with some tangy-ness to which hit the spot. For an entree I was lured away from the basic fare by their specials menu. One thing that jumped out was the was the Sweet and Sour Pork chop. It reminded me of a similar entree I've had at a Thai restaurant I used to frequent but not quite as good. The flavor was there for the most part but nothing in the way of crispiness. Also I found it kinda lame that they charged an additional $1.50 for a small rice to go with it. The aforementioned Thai spot that has that same meal comes lots of rice and is slightly cheaper actually. The rice is important because the Pork chop is pretty saucy so the rice helps with getting more of the sauce. The service was good, but our server was a "Tablewatcher". The kind of server that typically when it's slow they're just watching the tables for signs they're ready to leave or need something. I appreciate being mindful of the tables you're managing, but staring makes it weird. Overall probably about what you'd expect -- a sizeable eat in Chinese food spot with some free tea, but tacked on prices elsewhere. Wasn't looking for exceptional which is fitting, Yummy did hit the spot, it was exceptionally average.

Yelp
Food & service is very good. Delightful experience for dine in or pickup. Clean and easy access.

Yelp
One of the best places for Chinese food in Northeast Seattle!! I have ordered from this place nearly every Thanksgiving since we don't do the traditional "Turkey dinner" at our home, and they've NEVER failed us each time. We've also gone in person and the staff was very friendly and accommodating, and it's an intimate restaurant just across from Metropolitan Market. Will definitely continue to be loyal customers here!

Joanne L.

Yelp
My friends and I all love it at Yummy's! The food is delicious, always freshly prepared! The staff are friendly and efficient! We especially enjoy the weekday lunch specials. Dinner is equally as lovely. If I lived near Yummy's I would eat there once a week!

Jean H.

Yelp
We love Yummy Cafe. I pick up an order for my husband every week. He enjoys so much. They just painted outside. Looks good

Yelp
My husband ordered some takeout from here tonight, and the food is absolutely delicious! They also give generous portions at good prices, and I like that they don't use MSG. They actually remind me a bit of a restaurant I used to go to in my hometown, which I miss now. Yummy Cafe reminds me of them because it's also family owned and serves wonderful tasting food that also feels wholesome. I'm glad we found this place, and we'll definitely be ordering again!

Ashley H.

Yelp
Me and my family have been coming here since i was about 5 years old and let me tell you we love it. The staff is always so pleasant and the food is AMAZING!! We eat here about once a week and always get the same order, the chow fun is a our new favorite. So many memories have been made here over the last 16 years and i am so grateful yummy cafe has always been consistent for my family. i highly recommend anyone to try this place out, by far my favorite restaurant

Amanda P.

Yelp
So I'm a travel nurse from the northeast (DMV) and Chinese takeout is one of my favorites! This place was a hard no for me. Great service and nice people! But the food was not good at all. The pork fried rice I ordered was not fried and the pork inside looked uncooked and slimy. I'm used to chopped pieces of pork spareribs mixed in my fried rice. But this place did something different. I'll show you in a picture attached. The Szechuan style string beans had an odd, sour taste. Similar to it being old or sitting for awhile. They look good! But, the taste was sour and old. I had to throw that away. Overall, I'm disappointed. I had high hopes for this place. I won't be back, unfortunately.

Yelp
Yummy Cafe has been my go to Chinese restaurant for over 15 years. Vivian and Fey have been wonderful to me. The food is great and they deliver promptly which means that the food is hot. Don't you hate getting food that is cold. I will continue to patronize Yummy and be a loyal customer. Try them, I'm sure you will be pleased.

Yelp
Ordered take out during Lu at New year because I was craving Chinese food. I ordered broccoli and mushrooms, salt and pepper squid, salt and pepper wings, and fried rice. The wings were really really good. The squid needed a little bit more seasoning in my opinion but it wasn't bad. The broccoli and mushrooms were good. The fried rice was just ok, a little bit oily. Will definitely try other menu items in the future.

Yelp
YES. Why do I find it so hard to find some low-key Chinese restaurants in Seattle? My friend and I split the "Dinner for Two". They also one substitution, which is really nice, and the food comes out fast!! We got: Egg Flower Soup B.B.Q. Pork Egg Roll (2) Mongolian Beef (subbed from Beef with Broccoli) General Tso's Chicken Everything was really tasty, and the service was great. This was a lot of food, and we had some to take home, even though my friend eats like a garbage disposal. Happy I found this place, and looking forward to going back!

Yelp
This place is not yummy. I had a bad craving for Chinese food and been thinking about trying this place for a while. It is directly across the street from Met Market so when I got done shopping, I walked over. The staff there were very nice so the 1 star is for the food. For takeout, I got chicken chow mein, house fried rice, and Mongolian beef. The portions are large so I knew I could eat off of it for a few days. Unfortunately, when I got home, I was so disappointed and then grew mad as I kept eating. Everything was horrible, just awful. All three items lacked flavor. The rice tasted like nothing and the noodles were very greasy and so so bland. I doused everything I soy sauce and still, it was awful. The Mongolian beef was the worst. Discolored prices of fatty beef, swimming around in a pool of brown watery sauce that looked like diarrhea water. Again, all flavorless but sweet and spicy at the same time. 45.00 in the trash. I did keep the rice, and turned it into kimchi fried rice the next day.

Yelp
Vivian and Fay are doing an amazing job running this place and serving delicious and simple chinese food. Best Asian food place in the neighborhood. We dropped in for lunch on a rare Seattle snowy day and ordered the lunch special.

Yelp
My review is based on one visit, but it was a great visit! We dined in, and the service was great. We were seated and served a pot of tea right away. We shared an order of egg rolls and Szechuan beef with steamed rice. The egg rolls were rolled tight and were crispy with fresh veggie filling and not a bit of greasiness. The Szechuan beef was flavorful and actually had some spice to it which I find lacking at many places. It also had a few veggies in addition to onion with the beef such as celery, carrot, bamboo shoot, and a few snow peas. I have found many places don't seem to want to use vegetables anymore other than onion. To wrap it up, the fortune cookies arrived, and the check was processed in a timely manner with us already talking about coming back to try some other menu items.

Mariah M.

Yelp
ambience wasn't great but food was even worse sadly. got both chicken and beef dishes- BOTH types of meat were terrible quality and borderline gelatinous. flavor was majorly lacking. also quite overpriced for what it is, especially since they don't come with rice!

Meyer F.

Yelp
Have recently started getting my take here because the food, price, and service have been outstanding. Always greeted with a smile and a thank you.

Louis N.

Yelp
First of all , the hot and sour soup is awsome. MY main pet peave is...When you go online to veiw the menu for delivery...WHERE IN THE HELL IS THE PRICING !....The ONLY pricing is add $1 for this and $1 for that... Advice for Yummy Cafe...POST pricing and update as needed ,your LOSING customers without pricing on menu. HOW can anyone give $ amount on cost rating when there is NO pricing on ITEMS..... IDIOTS!

Sarah H.

Yelp
We LOVE Yummy! The only Chinese restaurant we order from in Seattle. Our order is standing - fried rice, Mongolian beef, General Tao's chicken and bbq pork. They are the kindest team and provide excellent service! Do yourself a favor and go!!
google avatar

Michele G.

Yelp
Hot and sour soup was very tasty and the garlic green beans were so so good! Wish I lived closer to it to eat there more often

Yelp
To be fair, I've only been here one time - but that one time really made the best impression. I came here during lunch to meet with one of my colleagues. I ordered the mongolian beef lunch that comes with soup and the mongolian beef with rice. My aunt and uncle own a Chinese restaurant and I grew up eating mongolian beef, making me a little particular to how it should taste... Yummy Cafe's plate was DELICIOUS! Whenever I drive by, I always tell whoever I am sitting with that this place makes really good mongolian beef. The beef was really juicy and tender, sliced to the right amount of thickness. I haven't gone back yet, but I would. It seems to be a good Chinese comfort food location, based on my experience with mongolian beef. Yum!

Yelp
To me, Yummy Cafe is a reminder of east coast NY/NJ Chinese takeout. Is it the best most authentic representation of regional Chinese cuisine that I've had? Not really (but admittedly I could be ordering all wrong). But it does give me a heavy dose of nostalgic goodness every time I eat there. Some of my friends love this place and I have certainly enjoyed my meals here with them.
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
Grabber takeout from here while it rained hard. The chow-fun and mushu pork was the best part and had a lot of flavor. Wouldn't get the Hong Kong-style just because it was so-so. Wonton soup was off for me also; the broth tasted like it was either pork or beef broth, so something to keep in mind if you're used to chicken broth. Not a bad place, just not my top pick for Chinese cuisine.
google avatar

Yelp
I almost always go to ID to get Chinese food. Yummy Café is perfect for anyone who doesn't want to drive so far to get great Chinese food. Their Crispy a pork Chow Mein was delicious.
google avatar

Tina H.

Yelp
Excellent dishes all around, elegant dinning room and friendly hard working staff. Love to see these intimate family restaurants in our neighborhood. Their delivery is prompt and owner often arrives himself. I like to go in since staff is excellent and dining room is great escape from the rain. Avoid Doordash, etc and call them directly. They never disappoint!

Lucas V.

Yelp
The food is super good! It's so good it has become a tradition in my family to eat here!
google avatar

Hong T.

Yelp
This is right by our work so we decided to order it for lunch and that was a big mistake! I called and asked if they do and they said yup! So we proceeded to get all of our orders, we ordered it about 2 hours ahead of time (since it was a big order). They forgot several things! And their food was not great at all! The wonton soup tasted funny. The chow mein we ordered was incorrect. Allot of our coworkers complained about it but it was our first (and last) time ordering from their. They should change their name to "Not so yummy cafe".

Peter C.

Yelp
The food comes quick and is really good. It's our go to Chinese takeout in the city. Honey walnut shrimp, fried noodles and general tso are some of our favorites.
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
Pretty good local Chinese restaurant in the Laurelhurst area. Place is really small, and has that "mom and pops" feel to it. Menu was pretty standard when it comes to Chinese food. I tried the Almond Fried Chicken and Chow Mein. Both were decent. Not the best, but good. Service was very good and they were very tentative to me, which is one of my judgements when going out for Chinese.

Yelp
Authentic Cantonese Cooking - Verified - By - Cantonese Family We are a Cantonese family from Fort Lee, New Jersey visiting the Yummy Café. All dishes are like the traditional Chinatown cuisines. I personally verified that this is a family owned restaurant (two brothers who immigrated from China) and the owners are from the same village in China like my parents. The business was established over ten years. When we visit any restaurants, we look for freshness, taste and excellent service. Yummy Café exceeded our expectations. Special requests and recommendations available by requests for those special diet needs. Peter Lee, MS

Yelp
Yummy Cafe is the place we call when we want delicious, fresh, well priced Chinese food. They deliver. We usually just call the restaurant and one of the employees deliver the food. I was amazed that they delivered a meal for 6 people in 30 minutes.
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Good Chinese food is hard to come by. The food here was so bad we didn't even finish it and won't go back. It lacked flavor, was bland, oily and needed more salt. I appreciate that it's no MSG but that doesn't mean you have to avoid flavor. The staff was nice.
google avatar

Rebecca H.

Yelp
I moved to this neighborhood long time ago. Never thought I would find an authentic Cantonese food here. I have been coming to Yummy for the past 12 years. Their food is always outstanding. Moreover they have the best barbecue pork in town!
google avatar

Jen W.

Yelp
We found this little gem 7 years ago, while staying at the nearby Ronald McDonald House while my daughter awaited a heart transplant. Whenever we come to Seattle for checkups, we HAVE to hit the Yummy Cafe. The food is consistently delicious and it has become our favorite Chinese place.

Ava B.

Yelp
My family loves this restaurant! So convenient, and also really good! The staff are all nice, and I would definitely recommend.

Amanda S.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! Great service and the best Chinese I have had in a long time. The pot stickers are huge and divine! Loved the orange chicken! The lady who served us was very patient and helpful when we asked about the menu! Great for the whole family!

Kandy H.

Yelp
Our friends recommended this restaurant. We ordered wonton soup, prawn fried rice, and mixed vegetables. The food was bland and awful. It was $43.00 ( over $50 with a tip). We wi t go back. This is disappointing because the people were so nice I'd like to support them but it was way too expensive and not good

Karen S.

Yelp
We ordered take out . The food order was accurate and done quickly. Unfortunately most of the food was not great. The Mongolian beef and king pao chicken seemed flavorless. My husband did not enjoy his fried rice as he said it didn't seem to have much in it. The sweet and sour pork was good and so were the potstickers although the sauce for the potstickers had a vinegar taste which I didn't enjoy. I don't think we will be back.

Yelp
What a great little cafe for some delicious Chinese cuisine. They've been in the neighborhood for almost 10 years. Fei, the owner's brother, is always very helpful in picking out their specialties. The place is always clean and well kept. You never have to wait long for your food. The pot stickers were delish and not greasy, like they are served at other places. Fei was so nice to make a few Mu Shu rolls for me, right there at the table. He was always stopping by to see if I needed more tea, water or rolls. I am still amazed at how generous the portions are with such a small bill. A must stop when you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of University Village (less than a mile away).
google avatar

Anton B.

Yelp
We stopped by for takeout lunch of Szechuan Pork and steamed rice for two. It was enough for two and a half (our three yr old son). Food tastes great!
google avatar

Natalia M.

Yelp
Can't believe it took me so long to try Yummy Cafe. Take out was delicious ! They have great lunch specials. I had the moo shoo chicken and it was delish.
google avatar

Mark N.

Yelp
We just ordered Chinese from Yummy Cafe and the food was alright. We ordered chicken fried rice, general tso's chicken and Mongolian beef. Mongolian beef was tender, way too much onions and was ok for 13.95 which is way too expensive. The general tso's chicken was also tasty, as well too expensive 12.95 and the last was chicken fried rice. The chicken was ok as well. Not much taste to the fried rice. Overall the cost with the tips was $45. and to me (2) for lunch is too expensive. I would say the best of all (3) was general tso's chicken. I had much better for Chinese food.

Yelp
I decided to try this place 6 years ago when I moved in the area. I have brought a dear friend here a few times for lunch. I have eaten here alone and even done pick up and home delivery where I would share this food with others. All agree this is a great menu and awesome food. The couple that operate this establishment are both very kind & diligently work to ensure consistency in food and service. I have truly appreciated their efforts and now that I must move away will greatly miss their place and food. They have set the bar high for others operating a small single family Chinese restaurant.
google avatar

Esther C.

Yelp
Delicious! They are open and serve great takeout options. I'd highly recommend anything from the salt & pepper section (pork is my favorite). The staff are all friendly and helpful!
google avatar

Glenn D.

Yelp
Very helpful with recommendations when we called to order takeout. Chow Fun with shrimp was very tasty.

Sharon C.

Yelp
Excellent cook who really cook with heart and care!! Also has unique delicous house special dishes!! Love the owners and their food!!!~

Yelp
Talk about fast service! We are staying at Seattle children's hospital and decided to try the free delivery to the hospital. The food arrived within 10 minutes of phone ordering and was piping hot! Ordered the Hong Kong chow mein, hot and sour soup, egg tofu, and mapo tofu and asked that everything be made vegetarian. Food was good and huge portions!

Peg H.

Yelp
I am unhappy! I am stuck in a hospital and used DoorDash to bring lunch from Yummy Cafe for my child and myself. I ordered food, and it was brought without rice! Who serves Chinese food without rice?!? I called the restaurant and asked them to make it right. They refused. $38 for two lunch entrees, 3 small egg rolls, no rice and no utensils... super disappointed!

Cindy K.

Yelp
My co worker and I had ordered lunch specials and I got the wrong order, which was fine cuz I was hungry and they had called and left a message so I called them back and they wanted to make my order correct and I told them they didn't have to cuz by that point I had already ate half of the food. They have always had great service and super friendly even when they are busy :-) yummy cafe has always been my go to when I worked at childrens in the past :-) my favorite Chinese place :-) wish I could give more than 5 stars for service and food

Yelp
Wonton soup was one of the best I've ever had. This restaurant serves classic Chinese American cuisine, and it does it really well.
