What To Eat At Jewel Changi Airport

"A Yunnan restaurant chain’s first overseas outlet brings an 88-seat space that spotlights ingredients cultivated up to 6,000 metres in Yunnan’s highlands, such as wild mushrooms, preserved vegetables and black truffle. Signatures include steam pot chicken soup—pressure-steamed for three hours in customised earthenware pots—first sipped as a chicken soup before the chicken is seasoned with green peppercorns, beansprouts, chillies and mala sauce; other favourites include stir-fried wild porcini mushrooms with dried chillies and beef stew. About 20% of the menu features new dishes like truffle rice noodles in prawn broth and salt-grilled salmon head. Positioned at an iconic location to showcase Yunnan cuisine and ingredients to a global audience, the brand (also known as “yun hai yao”) hopes to use the Singapore outpost as a springboard for the South-east Asian market." - Kenneth Goh

7 Restaurants To Explore The Regional Cuisines Of China

"This new restaurant at Jewel Changi Airport is the first overseas outlet of Yunnan restaurant chain Yun Hai Yao, which specialises in the little-known gao yuan liao li , or highland cuisine. The cuisine is characterised by local ingredients that are cultivated up to 6,000m above sea level in Yunnan’s highlands in China, including wild porcini, black truffle, wheat pumpkin and edible flowers. Signature dishes include stir-fried porcini mushrooms with dried chilli, beef stew simmered in a copper pot and a chicken soup in which a special breed of black-footed chicken is pressure-steamed for three hours to make a clear, robust broth without adding a drop of water." - Rachel Tan

Some food were hit some food were misses. The poached fish with pickle veg broth was amazing. Probably the best 酸菜鱼 I've tasted so far. It was more fragrant than numbing spicy. The broth was amazing. Must order that one. The cabbage was good, the garlic prawns were good. The dishes that I think can give it a miss is the clear chicken soup, to be honest it wasn't rather bland and I felt it wasnt anything special. The 辣子鸡 chicken stir fried in chilli was alright only as well, the chicken is deep fried in a batter and tasted like it had more batter than chicken meat. We did had to wait almost one hour when we arrived (walk in only) for a table of 6. We were served by a bubbly Malaysian chinese girl whom we forgot the name but she was nice and jovial.

A lovely Chinese restaurant with great ambiance and friendly service. The menu is quite extensive — best for groups since the dishes are meant for sharing, but there are also single-plate options like fried rice or noodles for solo diners. I had the noodles and grilled mala chicken — both delicious and generous portions! 🫶 They also served a small appetizer, crispy crackers with mala chili, which was tasty. Ordering is easy via QR code — quick and convenient. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a good meal before or after your flight

Hands down one of the best restaurants (in terms of food) I’ve ever eaten at in Singapore. Almost everything was delicious; we ordered quite a bunch and everything stood out, except for the Traditional Baked Rose Pastries which were underwhelming. Would give this place a 5-star if it wasn’t for one of the waiters who rolled his eyes at us just because we said we wanted the takeaway pastry to be served later after we ate. And he was the one who asked whether we wanted it later or together with the meal. Kind of rude I must say, considering the waitress lady was nice. Even more so at a prestige restaurant in Jewel; not somewhere I would expect of getting the attitude from. Would definitely come again to try their other dishes tho, since the food was amazing.

Great experience having lunch here with family and celebrating my father's birthday. The kids meals available were also good and my 16 month old daughter enjoyed the noodles alot. Their hor fun is always a must order for us, as well as the prawn and crab roe tofu. The 'lohei' with chicken was also a good starter dish. The service staff were also very accommodating and we had a great meal. Highly recommended!

Google
Delicious Yunnan food at Jewel! The stir-fried minced pork with peppers was fragrant and packed with flavor. The crispy fried pork was perfectly crunchy on the outside and tender inside, especially tasty with the green chilli dipping sauce. The highlight was definitely the Yunnan chicken soup — rich, nourishing, and full of natural sweetness from the chicken and herbs. Service was friendly and the dishes came out quickly. A great spot for authentic Yunnan flavors if you are nearby.

Dropped by on a weekday evening for dinner. Nice relaxed vibe. Food was solid — especially the steamed pot chicken soup. Service was friendly & efficient.

The food is packed with bold flavors and spices, perfect for those who love a strong kick. Portions are pretty ok, with each dish easily shared by two to three people. While the prices lean toward the higher side, this is a great spot to satisfy cravings for that spicy and numbing sensation.

Delicious food. Loved the chicken soup and fried lotus root. Taste is good, service is fast. Price is on the higher end.

Yelp
If you're in Ion Orchard and you're looking for a decent good value meal and too lazy to leave the mall to explore others, Yun Nan's is worth giving a shot. The food is based off of the name "Yun Nan" which is a location in China. The food is a combination of ethic origins and Han Chinese flavours. Overall a pleasant experience and would recommend! Taste: 4.5:5 Ambience: 4/5 Service: 3.5/5 Value for Money: 4.5/5 We had: 1) Beef stew in copper pot: this is a signature item, did not disappoint and balances well with rice and anything else you might get! 2) Grilled pork trotters: This is a must get! For those who like a nice bite into pork, this did not disappoint (gloves are provided so you can grab it better) 3) Crispy burning tofu: Well recommended as well, small bites here and there 4) Garlic Cayote Leaf: Flavours are there 5) Avocado Jackfruit Juice: It tastes as it sounds, imagine having Avocado stirred up mixed with Jackfruit All in all, if I was in Ion Orchard again, I'd come back to it, knowing that I had a great, but perhaps more importantly, a consistent one.

Yelp
After seeing Yun Nans on a list of one of the must-try restaurants at Jewel Changi, we knew we had to stop by! The wait was also super long which says something! We put our names down around dinnertime for a table of 3, and were quoted a wait time of about an hour and a half. You can put your name down and they'll text you when your table is ready. Luckily there are plenty of stores for you to shop at to kill time while you're waiting, so just make sure to plan ahead. Once we were seated, they asked if we wanted the mushroom appetizer, so we agreed. The mushrooms had a delicious texture and taste and served as the perfect appetizer, but just note that they do charge for this (we were under the impression that it was complimentary). The chicken soup was rich and hearty, and the meat was tender and came right off the bones. I only wish they gave a larger/longer spoon because it was hard to reach the bottom half of the bottom with our tiny spoons. Overall, glad we decided to stop by! I would've liked to come with a larger group to try more of their dishes, but I was still happy with what we got.

Yelp
There was a long line at Yun Nans but we persevered and finally got a table. We ordered a variety of dishes to try including the signature cross bridge rice noodle soup, double boiled chicken soup, minced pork with szechuan vegetable, charcoal grilled seabass, Stir Fried Wild Porcini Mushroom with Dried Chillis. The seabass looked really attractive from the window but I didnt think it was extraordinary in terms of flavor- overrated. The porcini and minced pork dishes were very tasty! The two soups were good as well and I liked the spicy sauce with the chicken from the soup. The grilled pork knuckles and several desserts were not available and it was disappointing.
