Yung Ho makes me wish I lived in LA. A great Taiwanese breakfast place. Prices are reasonable. Their you tiao is HUGE and fluffy. Dip in their Northern style salty tofu, it’s like a match made in heaven. Order via a QR code located on the tissue holder. Everyone at that table on separate devices can add to the same bill. Highly recommend this breakfast place. Maybe top two Taiwanese breakfast places on the east and west coast for me!

Google
Yungho Cafe was a bit of disappointment. We drove from San Diego to San Gabriel to try out this Taiwanese cafe for their breakfast items. This is a no frills cafe. You have to order your food at the cashier counter and have to find your own table and when food is ready, they will bring it out to your table. Cashier spoke mandarin with broken English so there’s a bit of slight language barrier to communicate when we ordered. We ordered: ginger peanut soy bean tofu, porridge with preserved eggs and pork, braised minced pork with rice and marinated egg and black sesame soy bean milk soup. The only dish we really enjoyed eating was the braised minced pork with rice and egg. Big disappointment was the chef specialty dish, black sesame soy bean milk soup which was bland, watery and not enough sesame in the dish. Porridge was decent and the ginger peanut soy bean tofu was served lukewarm at best with little gingery taste and this dish got spoiled very fast, so the tofu was probably was not made fresh. Pricing was budget friendly but food quality was subpar. We won’t be back.

Google
Very expensive for what you get. Ordered a small minced meat rice bowl for $7, it literally came in a rice bowl. They have a sign on the wall with some saying that it's affordable. Lies!

Google
My favorite Hot soy bean milk with yu tel or Chinese donut & spicy beef noodle soup for decades. It has been change hand if ownership.. so occasionally, it was the best and sometimes the soy bean milk is water down at later of the day.. so other early for the thick soy milk…

Google
Open at 7.30AM and we arrived at 8 AM after ordered the preserved egg congee, salty tofu pudding, twister roll (forgot the name) and Oyster omelette (delicious) the people are getting in and on the line. For me. The the sweet pudding tofu is more better.

Google
Love this place! Their service is quick and the food is delicious! The food taste so fresh and not greasy. The server told us the chefs wake up at 4am and start cooking so everything you eat is made fresh daily. We got their sweet tofu soup (made with ginger and peanuts, not sweet), the salty tofu soup (wasn't salty), the Chinese donut, egg onion pancake, the leak turnover(looks like an empanada has egg leak and green onion inside), and the beef roll. We also got their house made pastry to go. Servers are friendly and accommodating. Although this is a Mandarin speaking restaurant/community, they do speak English. So don't be shy and stop by.

Google
LOVE this place! So many choices on their menu, so far all we had was very delicious! We are vegetarians who don’t eat garlic and onion, and we were surprised by how many vegetarian items they have, or if they don’t, they will accommodate. Very good service by the servers here, and always have positive energy. I can see why they are so busy! You won’t regret coming here!

Google
Not sure why this places gets so little love as the food is very above average and the service is quick and efficient. Definitely come for the youtiao. The soy milk is a little disappointing as the soy bean flavor isn’t very present but still a pleasant drink. Portions are fairly generous but a little bit pricier than some of their competition. If you’re missing Taiwanese breakfast, this is definitely a good choice.

Yelp
Brought my mom up here from OC to do some of her chores and stopped by Yung Ho Cafe for a bit to eat. It ain't like the flavors of Taiwan, but I'm not gonna complain. I'm just stoked they have the foods and dishes that they do. And such a selection. Got the oyster/intestine vermicelli, onion pancake, turnip cake, stinky tofu, rou wan / ba wan and soy milk. Ther service. I don't expect much service from a place like this. They gor my orser right, food came fast and got me to go boxes quickly when I asked for them. So service to me was great. Didn't refill my water, but if I asked, I'm sure they would. The tables were clean and the restaurant was clean. Bathrooms were on the cleaner side for an Asian restaurant too. Overall, I would definitely come back here to eat because I love myself some Taiwanese eats !

Yelp
I have been coming to Yung Ho since I was a kid so it's been open for more than 30 years. It's such a staple in this SGV Valley. So when I was craving Taiwanese breakfast this morning. I knew I had to stop by. I ordered their: Salted Soy Bean Milk 鹹豆漿 - Large Oyster Pancake 蚵仔煎 Pan Fried Turnip Cake 蘿蔔糕 Daikon radish pastry Rice roll - Fan Tuan (飯糰) You have to get their salted soy bean milk. It's so good with chunks of Chinese donut, soy bean, curd, and scallions. I love it that it's not too salty so you can add salt to your taste. We also love their rice roll, aka Fan Tuan. The size of it, it's almost as big as my little dog, Peanut's face, just wish that they had pickled greens. Their oyster pancake was surprisingly good, not as good as Taiwan but definitely reminded me of the flavors. We love their turnip cakes... Next time I probably ask them to pan fry a little bit more. And my parents love to get their daikon radish pastries, but I think I'll skip those next time. All in all, the flavors are still like I remember them from when I was little. They have pretty big portions and we will definitely be back next time. I'm craving Taiwanese breakfast. Just remembered to not come too early in the morning because it does get really busy or if you wanna beat the crowd, you can phone in your order like we did.

Yelp
This is an authentic Taiwanese breakfast restaurant where you can try many classic Taiwanese favorites all in one place. However, the service was a bit slow since there were so many people waiting and only two servers at the front. I really enjoyed the tofunao, a savory soft tofu soup that makes the perfect hot, comforting base to go with dishes like youtiao (fried dough sticks), xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), and congyoubin (scallion pancake).
google avatar

Elainey G.

Yelp
Delicious Taiwanese breakfast! Their hot soy milk is delicious perfectly sweet and the rice roll probably one of the best compared to Taiwan. The daikon cake has more of a peppery taste but really loved it

Yelp
Brought my buddy here for bfast this morning as we were in the mood for warm soy milk, yau tieu and beef pancakes. This is an authentic Taiwanese breakfast spot to satisfy that classic Taiwanese food itch. We walked into a busy Yung Ho so patience was required but I didn't mind as we are on holiday & had nothing to do but relaxing time. I did not order the xiao long bao this time as I wanted to keep it light so I can eat at the other favorite spots while i am in town this weekend.

Yelp
4++ small low frills cafe that seems to be family owned and operated and is one of those spots where it is frequented by lots of locals. It looks like a great place to grab a Taiwanese breakfast for a really reasonable price. I would love to come back and just have a relaxing morning here. My trip in particular was to come by and pick up a Chinese donut. I came in and asked to order to go and was helped by a very friendly person. There was a slight language barrier, but luckily I remembered the Cantonese word my mom uses for the Chinese donut, haha. (I'm Viet). I was told to grab a donut here and pair it with some congee at another specific location so that's what I did. The donut is huge and it's very cheap. That's why I would love to come back to support this place and order a proper full meal here. There's also some frozen dumplings so you can purchase to go and prepare or heat up at home. Just a really great place with my limited experience here.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots to visit when I'm back home! No frills cafe, yet still nostalgic with simple decorations. There are a few tables and booths--we were able to seat a party of 8. Everything was so tasty and fresh, just the right amount of sweet and salty. My favorite things to get are the fantuan and congee with preserved century egg.

Yelp
Authentic Taiwan food, very good and not expensive, mainly for breakfast and lunch, will be back

Yelp
To be fair in this review, I didn't get their traditional Taiwanese breakfast items which actually looked decent. As far is items I actually ordered l, I Got the beef noodle soup. Was not flavorful, but portion was relatively generous. Wouldn't come back for this by any means. Also, got a sesame seed desert from the counter which tasted....really stale.

Yelp
Family business specializing in Taiwanese breakfast with traditional service to match. Order T counter to on QR code, tell them your table number and food comes right out. Can do ordering at table as well. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The father at the counter will tell you what people like and would order. Definitely reminds me of being in Taiwan. It was a joy being here for breakfast. The food was simple and delicious. I enjoyed the steamed Bao on y way out. The soy milk had flavor and wasn't watered down. Overall, a total joy that felt like those small shapes in the country side where everything they did was out of joy for the food and their customers. Lots of take out business and elderly regulars. Would find reason to stop by again.

Yelp
Drove 9 hours here was bit disappointed, food nothing like the last time I was here, We ordered #3, #7, 17,21,23 #3,salty soybean milk (鹹豆漿)seems was pre-cooked, temp. not boiling hot & the deep fried dough stick (油條)in the bowl was soggy. #21 small steam buns (小籠包)& #17 green onion cake with deep fried dough stick (蛋餅+油條)both ok. #23 leek pie(韮菜盒子)was not pan fired but deep fried. #7 ginger peanut soybean tofu (薑汁豆花)was good. Overall, not sure I will be back here again, recommendation reserved.

Yelp
2/15/2025 - Enjoyed eating a hot salted rice roll but found a spot of mold on Wife Cake (老婆饼). Had to throw it away. Next time, only order fresh items, meaning avoid any or similar items like Wife Cake. Need to have a quality control. Parking is free!

Yelp
If you could only get one thing from here, i would say the fried cruller is the way too. It's just so perfect with your porridge or soy milk. They also use it in their fwan tuan, perfect combination of texture and taste. i'd order two next time i'm back here. The beef noodles portion was good and tasted fine. Lots of parking available and located on the right side of the structure when heading in from the entrance.

Andrea M.

Yelp
Taiwanese breakfast. Warm soy milk, and Chinese donut or cruller are perfect comfort food. Plus lots of other delicious things to round out your breakfast, like the leek pie and this rice-cruller-floss-egg burrito. Don't expect service beyond delivering your order to your table and you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Cydia N.

Yelp
Fast casual place you can either order at the counter or on the app by your table. We ordered soy milk with fried cruller. Add your own sugar for the soy milk but I didn't add any. Fried cruller was good but greasy. We really enjoyed our salty rice roll. I like it better than Yi Mei that's where we usually go to. (Sorry Yi Mei) we also ordered leek pie and pan fried egg cake. It was very delicious. Only thing that I would change for leek pie is it's not flavorful enough. But otherwise we really enjoyed our meal there. Oh and can't forget the mochi.! It was good too

Yelp
10/10! Hands down the best congee I have had in ANY restaurant in the states. It was authentic and you could really taste the love and care they put into the dish. What a treat!
google avatar

Linda K.

Yelp
This restaurant been in the area for many years, I always visit when I am in San Gabriel area. Most people here speaks Mandarin however the cashier / order taker still does speak English. All the food made is so authentic and literally all are my favorite. However the most ones is the Turnip Cake with adding cake as optional & Fan Tuan which basically a rice roll with fried dough sticks, pork floss and pickled daikon. Other recommended menu that I always eat is Shao Bing aka Beef Sandwich, I guarantee you guys will not be disappointed.
google avatar

Yelp
Great service!!! I definitely will come back over there again in San Gabriel, California when I get the chance to!!!! Five stars is exactly my total rating!!!!! Thank you guys so much for everything!!!!!!!! Loveee!!!! Xoxoxo

Lisa H.

Yelp
Old school, amazing friendly service, and the most crispy chewy twisted crullers (aka Chinese fried donut sticks) around. Love this place for authentic Chinese breakfast. Tried rice porridge, pan fried egg cake with twisted crullers, and of course their hot soy bean milk. All sooooo good. Have been back 2 weekends in a row now!
google avatar

Azusa H.

Yelp
If you're craving Taiwanese breakfast, this is the place to go! Everything was amazing so it's hard to choose a favorite. But I never had the Chinese donut which was super crispy and chewy on the inside. My so taught me to dip the donut into the porridge which was life changing. We also had the fan tuan and it was also super delicious. The rice was chewy and moist. We went on a week day so it wasn't busy at all. You order through a QR code given on the table so the ordering process was super easy. Definitely coming back here again!

Yelp
Great breakfast spot that opens early. However, it is not as good as the real Yung Ho (永和豆浆) restaurant chain you'd get in China/Taiwan, so definitely missed my expectations. Food is good with decent portions, but has the heavy MSG flavor common in a lot of American Chinese food spots. Therefore this place doesn't really differentiate itself from other breakfast spots around.
google avatar

Danae L.

Yelp
These Chinese donut is way too thick but otherwise a solid spot among locals for Taiwanese breakfast. You can enjoy soy bean milk and Chinese donut amongst others.
google avatar

Yelp
Solid spot for Taiwainese breakfast, as this was recommended to me and my boyfriend by a family friend. Their portions are huge here for a very reasonable price. Also they have a huge menu selection! It took us a while to decide on what to get. You order at the register, grab a number, then a table like a cafe. Then afterwards, you pay when you are done with your meal. Came here on a Sunday morning for breakfast, and ordered youtiao (Chinese fried doughnut), savory fan tuan (sticky rice roll with filling), vegetarian fried noodles, and taiwanese beef noodle soup. Their youtiao is huge! We made the mistake of not ordering congee or soymilk to go with it, so we snacked on it throughout our meal. The fan tuan came out fresh and piping hot; the roll was so big I had to take it to-go after devouring my noodle soup. Inside had some pork floss, egg, and preserved vegetables. I saw they had a sweet option, and I wonder what would have been in that one. I loved my beef noodle soup; it wasn't spicy like the menu had said. The beef chunks were tender and large; I took those to go since the entire dish was so filling. We did not order anything to drink, but they offered simple staples like tea and coffee. I am sure in this area, there are a lot of Taiwainese cafes that serve these similar dishes. I don't go out for Taiwainese breakfast often, so I thought this place is good enough to satisfy the craving.

Yelp
There is a big lot here but the various business in the strip mall are all popular and parking is always challenging. Drive to the back of the lot and try the underground parking. The people who work here are task oriented and efficient, but not super friendly. The Mei fun (fried Taiwanese noodle) is not bad. The mochi is ok. The youtiao (Chinese fried dough) and doujian (soybean milk) are what they are known for and the toutiao is really big. Most of their food is just ok to good. They are crowded in the morning on weekends for breakfast and it can be get noisy.
google avatar

Yelp
Taiwanese breakfast always hits! Yung Ho in San Gabriel is pretty consistent with all the other Yung Ho locations in Socal. Rice roll - classic rice roll with the crueller and pork floss. Don't let it sit for too long or the rice will get stale. Sweet soy milk 3/5 - surprisingly, the soy milk at this location tastes much more watery than others. Crueller - I didn't try any but it looked nice and crispy on the outside while fluffy/chewy on the inside. I usually don't like the crueller because it's too greasy. Turnip cake w/ egg - 4.5/5 - the turnip cakes here are huge and full of flavor! It was a little mushy but they also added a lot of white pepper so it was really flavorful. The egg was perfectly cooked. Beef roll 5/5 - my favorite! They do it so well here. The beef is nice and tender and well-marinated. And they also brush on a lovely sauce that tastes like oyster sauce + sriracha.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for the 2nd time for breakfast, with lots of time apart in between. it is one of the raved spots for taiwanese breakfast, or so was the thought. however - it hasn't been my favorite taiwanese spot, and I think mainly its because the food isn't as flavorful as I would have hoped. I got the green onion pancake with eggs, the taiwanese donut, and the salty soymilk. They are basically cash only ($30 minimum - which for 1-2 people seemingly is impossible but possible to get to). There is a parking lot shared with other shops, and lots of tables. It is self seating, as in you would have to order, and then take the seat, but also noting to the cashier which table you are seating, for those - you are to pay at the end. Since its almost self service, do note they still expect tips. I would come back and try different dishes, but I might skip the ones I have already tried for that very reason above. Staff are all very nice though!
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
Traditional Chinese Breakfast! Yum! Everything is tasty except the beef rolls. Go to Noodle Street in Pasadena for beef rolls. The beef rolls here are not crispy and taste bleh (and spice is added without consent). There is a good amount of parking and gets oddly crowded even in the early morning. Pricing is very affordable!

Yelp
Taiwanese breakfast is a guilty pleasure of mine, more so if the place has less than 4 stars. However, I may go on a whim and say this place didn't quite meet my expectations. Call me simple but I love a good fan tuan, egg pancake, beef roll, and soy milk so I will almost always order those. The fan tuan unfortunately lacked the pickled veggies I so love in a fan tuan and so it ended up tasting a little bland. The egg pancake was... well, it worked. The beef roll was probably one of the better items but even then, nothing caught my palette. So what happened? It's hard to say, maybe I just had higher expectations because I like Huge Tree Pastry but alas, not every Taiwanese breakfast place does it the same. That's not to say Yung Ho's not good! Food comes out fast, there's a lot of options to pick from, so if you eat here you won't be lacking in substance at the very least!

Xiaobo S.

Yelp
This beef roll has tender texture, and sheet wrap was soft and crispy at the same time. Beef with green onion and coriander light sweet / salty flavor. Smooth and comforting and full of energy.

Ed Y.

Yelp
Quite quiet in off hours so perhaps it will be a cal late lunch so long as they don't rush me out (they won't). As usual good was exactly as I expected and cost is still reasonable. Was gonna buy some frozen baos to take home but I wasn't sure of motel freezer capacity so opted to come the next Morning on my way out of Tsang Valley to head home. This has been a regular breakfast spot and lunch spot for me and the family when we are in the area. Still one of the few places with Taiwanese breakfast foods that suit our families tastes. Usually very busy, but since I came in the off hours this time, I had a chance to see how it was like during a calm period.
google avatar

T J.

Yelp
The food is great! The service by the gentleman is great. However, the order lady has the audacity to ask for a tip, really?! She was lucky that I wasn't in the mood to bite back. To those that frequent this place caveat about some of the staff so embolden to push tip. I hope the owner or manager reads the reviews.

Yelp
As I get older, my love and craving for Taiwanese breakfast get stronger! I have been living in the 626 for so long and have never tried Yung Ho Cafe until today. Yung Ho Cafe is located on Valley Blvd in a plaza across from 888. I arrived to have a brunch date with my girls around 10 am on a Thursday. The parking lot wasn't too busy as well at the restaurant. We were able to sit down and when you are ready, you head to the front to order. We decided on the following: Black sesame soy milk Salty soy milk Pan-fried dumplings Chinese donuts Baked turnip cake Chive egg pancake My favorite was the black sesame soy milk. It was so good with bits of black sesame in every sip. It was smooth and had just the right amount of sweetness. It gets even better when you use the freshly fried Chinese donut to dip it. The oily and the richness of the soy milk is one excellent combination. Oh, I can't wait to come back to order it again. The Chinese donut is so good! It was so fresh with a good crunch. I want to say it's one of the best Chinese donut around town. I think I might end up getting my Chinese donuts here when I need them for porridge and soup. The other items were okay. However, the chive egg pancake had a good cook to it and the filling was good. Overall, a great Taiwanese breakfast place!
google avatar

Judy T.

Yelp
As a vegetarian I was craving some Taiwanese breakfast and came here to try their salty soy milk and rice roll. I hadn't been here for years and they staff was very friendly. The place was decently packed when I went to pick up and I they have vegetarian pork floss to sub. I added mustard greens to it for more flavor and I was so glad I did! It was a 75 cent or 1 dollar upcharge. They do add pieces of pickled radish for some flavor too normally. The salty soy milk was also flavorful and I'd definitely go back:
google avatar

Danny S.

Yelp
My friend suggested this place for lunch one day and I'm glad he did. The Spicy Beef noodle soup was very flavorful and the beef tender enough to melt in your mouth. We also had an order of the Salted soy bean milk matched up well with their twisted cruller. (Just dip it!) Their steamed bum with pork & peanut was delicious as well. It was Super tender, sweet and salty. Interesting combination, but it works.
google avatar

Yelp
a regular visit for breakfast Whenever in the area their soy milk is on point chinese donut "you tiao" was freshly made egg pancake was my favorite

Yelp
We are so surprised to see not a lot of people at Yung Ho Cafe during the Christmas holiday. It's usually really busy. We went in and sat down right the way. The menu is on the table, which has so many options! It's really hard to decide what to eat because everything looks so good. We placed the order at the cashier for one pan fried egg cake with Chinese donut and one beef sandwich with mustard vegetables. The fried egg cake was good, but I wish it has special garlic soy sauce or spicy sauce for this. The soy sauce just doesn't really cut it. I probably will have the regular pan fried egg cake next time. The beef sandwich with mustard vegetables is excellent! The beef was well braised with tons of flavor. I recommend it! The sweet iced soy milk is great. A must have here! We also ordered two rice roll with eggs to-go and they are pretty good too. Overall, the food here is good. Maybe not the best in town, but pretty good still.
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
Order at the counter and takes credit card! Pretty easy, but a lot of the dishes are just okay. - Giant Chinese donut (3.35) super oily as expected and very fresh - turnip cake (8.75) I thought was good, but standard - xlb (10.55) terrible soupless dumplings. They don't do dumplings very well in general - fantuan (5.35) good size, but missing pickling. My friends also ordered the beef roll and that was surprisingly good. Nice flavor and meat! Huge tree pastry still wins
google avatar

Kim T.

Yelp
Do not expect any service here. You come, order at the counter, they bring food to your table, they bring you the bill after they bring out all the food but before you finish eating. Tables are dirty when walked in. We just sat at any table that was clean. No greetings. Only one person spoke English. The food was average, not bad. Got the soy milk and donut. Soy milk is not sweet so if anyone likes sweet, there's a jar of sugar on the table. I don't like sweet so however it came out was fine with me. The donut was HUGE! The beef noodle was good but salty. DO NOT get the one with Bread. They literally replace the noodle with thick cubes of bread into the soup. We thought it was bread on the side. Big mistake.
google avatar

Mysha R.

Yelp
I could rant and rave about how comfortable and cozy it is to eat in Yung Ho on a nice overcast morning, but instead I'll limit it to a few characters. The Youtiao was overwhelming because A) we didn't expect them to be so large and crispy and B) we didn't know one order came with two. We had two orders of the Youtiao, salted soy milk, the beef and mushroom bun and a red bean walnut cake. Like everyone has already said, eating the Youtiao with the soy milk was absolutely divine and very filling. With one order of the donut, the split bun and drinking the soy milk that was enough for the two of us to get full. All in all I would definitely recommend Yung Ho for affordable traditional, Taiwanese breakfast food.

Yelp
I was craving for some Taiwanese breakfast and decided to come here around 9:30am. There was some seating available so we got lucky! I came here with my brother as we are visiting from NorCal (Bay Area). Everyone here was super nice, I believe we met the owner(?) who gave us a special sauce that the kitchen made. It was pretty good! It is cash only, but if you pay with card, there might be a certain amount you can pay card with. Food was very tasty. My brother and I ordered some rice roll wraps, Chinese Donut with the hot sweet Soy Soup, and Egg Pancakes! I miss going to Taiwan every year and this place was the closest thing I could get taiwanese breakfast! Parking here is a little small and tight. It's a one way entrance and circle back out. I recommend coming early!

Annie L.

Yelp
Traditional Asia breakfast from Taiwan, 30 years in Los Angeles, Fresh! Fresh! Fresh!

Luli S.

Yelp
This place uses the name of a well known breakfast chain in Taiwan but the food is NOT Taiwanese at all. The oyster omelet was nothing like it's supposed to taste and it was expensive. The chive dumpling was over fried though large. We would not go here again.

Yelp
Got some comfort food for the sick.. I ordered too much food for two people. Recommended: Rice Milk Dough stick/cruller: a bit greasy Baked turnip cake: 5 thick slices, kind of wish it was pan fried a little on the outside.. Salted Rice Ball Blah: Plain congee: there were black spots in the congee Pan Fried Egg cake: taste dry Haven't had a bite yet - too much food: Preserved Egg congee without pork

Yelp
I love Taiwanese breakfast! I wish we had more of these spots up in the Bay Area. Since we have a lack of Taiwanese breakfast spots, I always try to grab it on LA trips. This was a new spot that my friends and I tried. We wound up trying all 3 soy milks: hot, sesame, salty. I am normally not a fan of salty soy milk, but Yung Ho keeps a good balance between the soy milk and ingredients they put in the bowl. I also loved the sesame soy milk. Definitely pour some sugar in or you won't taste the sesame. We also got the rice roll, congee, green onion pancake with egg, fried turnip cake, and you tiao. The rice roll was delicious, warm and crispy. The grains in the congee was a bit larger than I expected, but flavorful wise was very good. The you tiao was huge and so crispy. I would probably skip the pancake with egg. While I wished that the turnip cake was crispier, I would still get it again just because it was so tasty.

Yelp
Been coming here for breakfast many years since my grandpa introduce me to it, and I love this place! You know the place is good when your grandparents like it ;) I always order the hot soy milk and the twisted cruller, so that was one of our dishes. We also ordered the black sesame soy milk, but I couldn't taste too much of a difference between it and the regular soy milk. The black sesame gave it a little bit of texture and maybe a little bit of a nuttier flavor. We also ordered a baked turnip cake and a sesame cake. I never had those before, and it seemed pretty popular. The baked turnip cake had a light flaky exterior, and a soft savory filling. At first taste, it seemed salty enough, but I ended up sprinkling more salt, which is probably the wrong way to eat it haha. We also tried to order the sesame mochi, but I'm not quite sure why...the waitress tried to say they didn't have it for some reason--either because it was a weekday or they don't make it anymore. Wished I was able to order some, because it looks amazing! Service isn't amazing, but it gets the job done! Anyway, this restaurant holds a special place in my heart...wish I had something like this where I'm located...but I look forward to coming here every time I'm in the area!

Yelp
Must try the savory tofu soup. That was the best in my opinion. A lot of people ordered porridge and the Chinese donut, which was pretty good. maybe knocked down one star because they seem pretty short staffed but everyone was pretty nice.

Yelp
Before we visited LA, our friends recommended us to try one of the most authentic restaurant for Taiwanese breakfast in their minds: Yung Ho Cafe. The decor was wide-spaced, bright and simple without any decoration. There was a great variety of options which were really attractive for us on the menu. We had a difficult time making our decision and ended up ordering fried dough, rice ball and sweet & hot soy milk. However, we were kind of disappointed since their food wasn't as tasty as our expectation. The fried dough was too greasy and you can tell it was done for a while. The rice ball wasn't bad but not special at all. Overall, we believe there would be a better choice of authentic Taiwanese food in LA and there's no need to give it a try.
