"Yunnan Restaurant is an SGV institution that has been around for decades and is best known for its “crossing the bridge” noodles that are big enough for two people. The server will bring over a piping-hot broth made from chicken stock with a rich layer of fat on top and a plate filled with toppings like chicken, quail eggs, ham, bean curd sheets, chives, mushrooms, and seasonal vegetables. Fresh rice noodles are served on the side. Diners can choose to have the dish prepared by a staffer or to DIY using the heat of the broth to cook the ingredients. Don’t miss out on the cold dish table at the front of the restaurant where diners can mix and match up to three items per order. The marinated seaweed, cold beef slices, cucumbers, and pork slices are solid. Other popular menu items include the lamb pot dry roast, water-boiled beef, and crispy rice." - Kristie Hang

Yunnan cuisine is renowned for its pickled pepper, and this establishment does not disappoint. The food was delectable, featuring a harmonious balance of spiciness and sourness that left me craving more. Despite my request for additional spiciness, the dish was perfectly balanced. The service was attentive, and the ambiance was inviting. The establishment provided ample parking space.

Google
Overall it is good, but to be honest the Sichuan cold noodle is made with rice noodles and so salty. Which is not expected.

Google
The cold dish in this restaurant is very popular and fresh. People buy 3 combination of cold dish to go or dine in. My friend was raving about the cold dishes and we came to try. We loved it and came back a couple more times with friends and family. It offers a lot of spicy food on the menu. If you don't like to eat spicy food, you can request to make the dish mild to reduce the spicy level. Besides cold dishes, rice noodles and a variety of hot dishes, it also has dumplings. The filling of the dumpling tasted good but the skin was a bit too thick.

Google
Yunnan is known for its spicy mala noodles but they also have amazing side dishes to choose from such as pork kidney and pork head slices. Perfectly seasoned and delicious in my opinion but it can get a little too spicy. If you have a high spice tolerance and looking for Chinese meat cuts, this is the perfect place. Highly recommended for everyone to try!!

The food was very good. The waiter not only refused to serve, but also forced to consume. She also scolded the guest, the waitress, and was very angry. I don't understand why such people are still here. I told you to pack three times, and then I'll pay someone else's bill after each time. Don't ask foreigners for tips. Ask Chinese for tips. Still looking for young people. My quality doesn't allow me to swear. But I really want to scold that waitress.

Google
Surprising find of this Yunnan restaurant in San Gabriel. This restaurant specializes in round rice noodle soup. All noodle dishes made up of rice noodle and fillings. There are spicy ones and non spicy options. The house special rice noodle was what we had for lunch. The bowl was huge and we shared among three of us. The broth was clear and delicious. The noodle were soft and chewy. We also ordered the spicy beef rice noodle as well. Unlike the taiwanese version of the spicy beef noodle, the broth was not that spicy and the beef was more bland than the heavily marinated beef in the Taiwanese noodle. In addition to Yunnan style rice noodles, they also offer dumplings, potstickers and scallion pancakes. These are all good and tasty. I think the chef is from Northern China where the cuisine emphases spiciness and heavy sauce. The best dish we had was their sautéed egg plant with garlic. They don't use a lot of oil to cook the egg plant but the dish is very flavorful and tasty. The restaurant also offers ready made to go cold dishes that include vegetables and snack foods such chili oil pig ear, chicken feet, spicy beef and tripes. For three items, they can choose any of them on display and pay only$8.99. We also got a bag of frozen potsticker to go after lunch. The service was very good and our server was very friendly. She speaks both mandarin and Cantonese. The decor is more of old school as there is not much. Parking can be challenging as the 168 super market takes up most of the parking spaces.

Taste :4.6/5 Environment: 4.2/5 Service:4.2/5 This place specializes in authentic Yunnan cuisine, which features rice noodles, cold dishes, hot pots and more. You'll be amazed by the variety and flavor of their dishes, which are influenced by the diverse ethnic groups and natural resources of Yunnan province in China. I recommend starting with their cold dish appetizer, which includes a selection of meats, tofu, vegetables and noodles tossed in a tangy and numbing sauce. You can choose from different levels of spiciness, but be warned: this is not for the faint of heart. The cold dish appetizer is perfect for sharing with friends or family, or for enjoying by yourself if you're feeling adventurous.

Google
Always my first stop when I go to Los Angeles. Authentic Szechuan and Yunan food . More than 15 items of side dishes at counter to choose from..Lots of selections from vegetarian food like cucumber, seaweed, king mushroom , wood ear, fried tofu ,etc to meat items like beef tenden, spicy chicken, sliced beef .. too many to count ..I usually ordered three items and they just piled up on your plate.. You can be full just by eating the side dish . Favorite dishes: thin sliced pork in garlic sauce, dry pot intestines, twice cooked pork, spicy boiled fish/ beef, fish fillets in nummy green peppercorns soup. Generous portion and very reasonable price.

Yelp
Yunnan Restaurant has lasted the test of time. The menu has changed over the years but the 20 cold dish selection is the main attraction. The menu is mostly comprised of noodle dishes with their signature bridge rice noodle soup. For $15 you can order a combination of cold side dishes. The majority of the side dishes are a little spicy. We had the following: Beef noodle soup 4 stars decent broth, tender beef Yunnan bridge noodles with chicken broth 5 stars lots of toppings good broth 3 item side dish combo 5 stars sliced beef shank, chicken gizzards, and marinated tofu skins. Located in a strip center on Garfield in Monterey Park. There is parking in the rear of the center. Service is good.

Yelp
If you like spicy, flavorful food, this place is for you! Food: 5/5 My fam and I got the two two-items combos and a Hot & Sour Soup. The combos were loaded to the top. We got one meat and one veggie option that vary in price. For meat we got pig ear and beef tendon. I know pig ear, chicken gizzard, or like chicken feet are delicacies. I was scared to eat them as a kid, but once you try them, they're even tastier than your chicken breast. Anyway, the meats were flavorful and spicy. The veggie dish we got was the peanuts and potatoes shreds. It was a nice balance since the veggies weren't spicy. The soup was delicious and reminded me of my childhood. Price: 5/5 The soup and options we got were humongous. They could easily feed a group of 5-6. We had left overs and our meal only cost $50. I hope pig eat doesn't become the next ox tail and skyrocket because of demand. Right now, this is my cheap comfort food. Service: 5/5 This place has wonderful service. The lady working the combo counter stacks the food! You order at the counter or you can order via QRCode, or you can order at the table. I recommend giving this place a try especially if you never tried northern Chinese food.

Yelp
My favorite Chinese restaurant in California, by a long mile. So I am biased, it's my hometown food. The place is very nice, busy, with the most extensive selection of cold dishes right when you walk in. That is where you start, just pick with your eyeballs, everything is simply amazing because this place is packed with Chinese people. The place is clean, spacious, and fun. The service is super fast. The first dish will hit the table and make your head spin. The the next, and the next. I ordered 5 dishes and they all came with in 20 minutes. Unbelievable. If you have not eaten Yunan food, try the rice noodles. It's served in a delicious chicken broth with veggies, tofu skins, chicken chunks, ham, and quail eggs. My sons has been eating this all their lives and they don't get tired of it, now they are in their 20's. I always orders the cured pork, that is what everyone ate back home, ordered it with leak or peppers, if you are from Spain or Italy, you know cured pork is king. The dry pot beef has a ton of veggies seasoned with cumin, served over a fire box. It's tender and full of flavor. Then the classic fish filet, lightly breaded fish over cabbage in a sea of chili! Laoganma squid is an interesting trendy dish as well. I will always bring my family here. They are so popular they just opened a second location in Alhambra!

Yelp
My Honey and I ordered #88 Szechuan Style Twice Cooked Pork, and Pan Fried Dumplings (10). Also ordered one bowl of Rice. Our server quickly took our order. Our order came quickly and we'll prepared. Everything tasted delicious We were seated in a quiet area away from the self-serve tables. Our area was very clean.

Yelp
Yunnan is the best of the restaurants. Nothing is tastier. The way they serve their dishes, the way it comes out fast...it's just too good. The employees put their heart out into making the best food. This is the best restaurant anybody could taste.

Erik G.

Yelp
The food here was terrible. No other way to say it. It certainly wasn't the Yunnan food we were accustomed to eating. My family is from China and we lived in Beijing for many years and are quite familiar with different regional foods from China. This place wasn't very authentic in our opinion. All the dishes were too salty and lacking a depth of flavor. The service was good. That's the only nice thing I can say about this place. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one. We're not in a rush to come back here.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Grew up coming here and I'm so happy to report the food is just as good now as it was nearly 10+ years ago. The selection of sides/cold dishes at the front makes me so happy every time I see it, I always get the beef tongue I love everything I've had from the menu but my all-time favorites here are the classic Yunnan House Special Rice Noodle Soup and the Bean Curd Fish with Spicy Sauce, The broth in the noodle soup is so clean and comforting. The fish is so flavorful and tender. The portion size is big and the pricing is very reasonable.

Sylvia C.

Yelp
Again, in continuance with previous review. They didn't fail with service and their portions are generous, compared to years ago when i used to come more often. I started becoming a regular again because they are generally very well rounded with everything and I am happy every time. Thanks guys!

Yelp
Yunnan Restaurant is great for large groups/families since they provide so many options AND huge portions! It was my first time trying more authentic Chinese food since I'm familiar with more of the popular/typical dishes. Here are my favorites from dinner: - Crispy Rice: Good when fresh, but once it sits out for awhile the rice gets soggy and it turns into a porridge. The presentation is so fun though! The workers pour down the broth and makes the rice start to pop! - Cold Dishes: I'm biased because I LOVE any cold dish. The veggies were pickled well and very refreshing, especially during the summer heat. - Stir Fries: The dishes come out piping hot! My favorite was a protein dish (I can't remember the name), but it had a good spice level!

Yelp
Excellent taste for the Yunnan style restaurant in Monterey Park Try it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
Here's my thing I never know the name of anything unless I have my Asian friends with me. I absolutely love this place ! All along the side of the front of the restaurant they have pictures of every played that they have. I literally took pictures of the ones that I wanted . Pictures are worth 1000 words especially when you don't know what the word you're looking for is ! So good #5Stars

Yelp
Been coming here for years, and on our most recent visit, we noticed that portions have become noticeably bigger (yes, bigger, not smaller as is typically the case). One portion of their special Yunnan "crossing the bridge" noodle is easily enough for 2 people. They have cold dishes at the front of the restaurant, and you can get up to 3 items per plate. They really pack the plates full, so 1 dish is easily enough for 2 people to share. When I was ordering the cold dishes, another customer was ordering his cold items to-go, and I noticed he was getting a lot more food because the take-out container has more depth than a plate does -- this might be the way to go next time! We ordered a variety of noodle soups, and everything was delicious. Great value and great food.

Jia Y.

Yelp
Good good good prices, service may be a bit slow but honestly it's fine. I love the lamb pot dry roast and the yunnan noodles - a great find. Ambiance is lots of noise but good food

Sheng L.

Yelp
Dishes served quickly; reliable and authentic taste; tea pot refilled without requested

Terrence S.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places for that Chinese numbing spice food. Many people get the food to-go, especially the cold dishes at the front counter, but it's often nice to sit in for lunch, and they have many more options to order from the menu. The cold beef as an appetizer is one of my favorites; super flavorful and so easy to just snack on until all of it just disappears somehow. Very reasonable prices too. The boiled dishes are good too, it's a mix of meat/seafood and veggies in one big pot of spicy sauce. It's best to eat it with rice because the spice in the sauce can get overwhelming real quick. Crispy rice with three flavors: another favorite of mine even though it's not spicy at all. There is a lot of tasty garlic flavor, and some ginger, somehow goes very well with the crispiness of the rice, and the softness of the fish and veggies. Service is ok, and better if you know Mandarin. I know the reviews for this branch is lower, but it is way better than the San Gabriel from what I remember.

Yelp
Wooie, going here feels like a trip back to china. The ambience, the tiled floors, the mountain of food, efficient service and the bustling of chinese. Their menu is extensive and relatively authentic. I would say the main impact of this place is value! When you walk in, its somehow easier to find the back door by the bathroom than the front door which is closer to the street side lol. You are greeted by multiple rooms of huge tables fit for a party of any size and huugee deli counter of cold dishes. Its 12.99 for meat + meat& veg with either 1,2, or 3 that you can take to go and they really pile it on high. Service is so fast that we couldn't finish the food before we ran out of space on our table lol. How to put the food flavor.. its not bad, the food here is good quality but its not special. Its fresh, not too greasy or salty but the flavors kind of mesh together. Best item; yunnan rice noodles. Omg I did not expect this giant hot stone pot bowl with toppings to only be 13.99. The flavors not too strong and kind of like a mellow beef bone broth but it was such good value and definitely for a weekday dinner when you don't want to cook. Heck you could even split it among two people. Cold dishes- I would like to go back and try their vegetable dishes. The cold dishes were authentically flavored, but I feel either lacked depth or variety of taste ( maybe less msg). I would say it suits someone who is having this for the first time and not someone who eats it often. Xlb- definitely no. The flavor inside is nice like a typical pork dumpling but the soup/flavor factor and lack of ginger make it lackluster. Green onion pancake- very crispy and buttery. Not that much green onion which I prefer but if you want like a pratha fixing it is perfect. The dry pot intestines- if you like intestines definitely get this. It's very clean and fresher than other dry pot intestines. But it is missing a bit of wok hey/spicy flavor ( the chilis used are on the fresher side) Overall, recommended for family style meal, budget friendly eats and first timers for authentic Chinese food that's not mainstream.

Yelp
Came back to dine-in with family! My family and I have been coming here since I was a small child. My parents moved more East-side and they definitely miss the West-side Chinese cuisine. I visited during 2020 when they only had take-out and I finally came back for a dine-in experience. So happy to see it lively again. Yunnan Restaurant is still delivering excellent service and even more flavorful food. The star of the show-- is the food, of course! Yunnan Restaurant truly showcases Yunnan's diverse and unique flavors. There's a little of everything, and you can't go wrong with ordering one of their cold appetizers or one of their signature dishes like their noodles or stir frys. We ordered our usuals, 2 dishes of the cold appetizers (which I always loved picking out as a kid and still do), spicy popcorn chicken, and sour spicy fish soup. Even after all these years, their portions are huge and their dishes are still wonderfully fragrant and mouth watering. I was so happy to see my mom as happy as I was! I will always be a patron here. Definitely give Yunnan Restaurant a try - it'll become one of your staple restaurants you go to in Monterey Park.

Kimberly P.

Yelp
:: Food :: I ordered the "Pork Intestines, Pork Blood with Rice Noodle" with less spice and it was still pretty spicy. I found that it was more enjoyable when I took it to-go and ate it at a hot temperature vs piping hot right out of the kitchen. The soup was flavorful, but there was a lot more noodles than the pork intestine/blood. The "Juicy Pork Dumplings" were pretty standard. :: Service :: Customer service was decent, some servers were nicer than others. :: Parking :: There was plenty of street parking right outside of the restaurant.

Sandra G.

Yelp
I've been a patron of this Yunnan restaurant, nestled in the heart of Monterey Park, for as long as I can remember, and it's a true gem. The authenticity of the cuisine shines through, and you know you're in for an authentic experience. Now, I'll admit, if you don't speak Chinese, the service might be a bit challenging, but that's part of the adventure. It's a testament to the restaurant's dedication to preserving tradition. And trust me, it's worth it. The restaurant often has a bustling, busy ambiance, so be prepared to flag down the waitress when needed. It's a testament to its popularity. One dish that you absolutely must try is the cold combo. During my recent visit, we ordered the water-boiled beef, and it was not only delicious but also generously shareable. The flavors were incredible and left me wanting more. This place is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates authentic spicy cuisine. It's a taste of tradition right here in Monterey Park!

Elena C.

Yelp
I've tried many fried pork intestines with hot pepper around monterey park - alhambra - san gabriel valley area but this on is the crispiest of them all! Some places got more heat, while another place have the most tender intestines, or the juiciest, or the toughest (if that's your thing); but Yunnan Restaurant's is the crispiest! And also one of the least spicy one. But still pack a lot of flavor. And they give quite a generous portion. Definitely will come back to try the rest of their offer.

Anna H.

Yelp
After all these years, I'm glad to finally come eat lunch here and so glad I did. Thanks to all the Yelpers for their recommended dishes. We tried the yunnan noodles #1 and the broth is light yet flavorful with all sorts of vegetables, quail eggs, ham and chicken. Definitely a must and it goes well with the cold side dishes: for a selection of 3 items at $8.99, we ordered seaweed, mustard green and mushrooms. Will definitely want to try the yunnan fried rice cake next time. Great portions at prices reasonable than other places and we all enjoyed it. Place is quite big and it was busy and bustling! Definitely recommend this place for yunnan cuisine.

Janette H.

Yelp
Popped by after running errands and had a yen for some dumplings! Loved this joint'. The Szechuan noodles were absolutely DELICIOUS I've never had anything quite like it and am now plotting a time when I can have them again! My husband loved the duck. I was not as thrilled but I'm not a big duck fan. I also highly recommend the dumplings. Juicy is an understatement!! The scallion pancakes were fine, but I'd prefer them to be more scallion than cake. Nice people inside, very friendly atmosphere. Prices were more than reasonable.

Jenny E.

Yelp
We drove by and I saw food!!! I made my friend stop in. The restaurant was crowded and saw many unusual dishes that looked super spicy and traditional. We ordered a few of what the waiter recommended. Everything was tasty. I wish it were a more memorable food experience. The cold noodles were flavorful...not too spicy...just enough flavoring, but the noodles were ehhh. The soup we ordered was mid. The pork belly with buns reminded me of childhood dish thit kho chung, but with steam buns. Overall, good. Delicious enough to come back? You tell me

Emily G.

Yelp
best food ever!! and the service is good too! It definitely deserves all 5 stars even if the service was terrible (which it definitely wasn't) it would still be 5 stars because the food makes up for it. Delicious

Vivian L.

Yelp
I've been here many times as a kid - my mom introduced me to the cold dishes they had. They have an assortment to try but I typically keep to their large portion rice noodle dishes (all are great) & any of the cold dishes. From soup to stir fry, mild to spicy - they have it all. I've tried local grocery store cold dishes and other restaurants in the area that offer some, but many haven't hit the same flavor notes that Yunnan Garden has. Very spicy and flavorful and amazing alone or with a carb of choice. My regular go tos have been the spicy pig ear, their garlic seaweed, and the spicy beef tendon & bean curd. They've renovated the place over the years, maybe renamed themselves a few times, and expanded seating. Plenty of locals still visit & in my opinion, probably the best spicy Chinese cold dishes you can find in LA county. I'm not sure how many years in operation they've been in - but recipe wise they haven't changed much and I think my first visit was in 2009! I do agree on the weird pricing with 2 meats and 1 veg being the same as 3 meats. It's gotten pricier over the years but with a huge selection comes with a ton of kitchen labor. Don't come here expecting amazing service tho haha.

Ann G.

Yelp
Service sucks but really good Sichuan Chinese food! Really authentic Chinese food! I came here all the time, and I got dirty dishes all the time as well. Not that clean here. But I am very happy with the food!

Albert C.

Yelp
There was a bug in my beef stew which is unfortunate. I had two sips and it was delicious but then I saw a bug floating in my stew. I struggled with even making a post about it but the food is really good and the restraint should be aware.

Marlene G.

Yelp
Ma Po Tufu was delicious her try some sure recommend come eat here food is great Place is very nice

Annie C C.

Yelp
Yunnan has been around for many years and has always been one of my favorite restaurant. I enjoy their cold dishes as well as dishes they serve, Their server and food deserve this 5 star! Thank you!

Ellen G.

Yelp
I've been coming here for almost two decades and I think it's even better after the remodel. The inside now looks clean, brightly lit, and spacious. One of the highlights of Yunnan restaurante is their large variety of cold dishes, many not available at other places. My favorites are the pig ears, "wife slices", and shredded potato. But they also offer different veggies and a house mala "beef jerky". Instead of doing my usual dishes (classic number 1 rice noodle, cumin lamb, and chili oil fish "水鱼鱼") I decided to spice it up (literally) with some different dishes. The fish dish we got is the only item on the menu without an English translation, but if I had to translate I would say it's a numbing green chili fish. Super flavorful and spicy, without being too oily. The portion size is solid as well, we took home the leftover broth and added some more veg the next day and it was even more spicy and flavorful. We also tried the seafood tofu, which is a saucy savory dish without any spice! ( great for kids and your non-spice lovers). The dishes taste a bit diff from when I came around a year ago, but I actually think it's an improvement. Service was quick too, you order via QR code on your phone and order cold dishes at the counter. They also helped pack our food for us! Overall a solid Yunnan/Szechuan restaurant with a large variety of dishes!

Rachel L.

Yelp
I ordered cold dishes there and a lady who worked there told me beancurd wasnt included for the veggie price . Seriously ?? So beancurd is considered a meat? Come on now ...I know inflation is bad but stop treating customers like idiots.

Lourdes R.

Yelp
Comfort food! Whenever you're feeling down or little homesick, this establishment offers hot noodle soup, rich in flavor, bouncy rice noodles, and large serving. Cold dishes of your choosing accompany your entree. I ordered seaweed, beef tendon, and tofu shreds. I love the spices and acidity... and texture of these side dishes. Honestly, I would just come here for the cold dishes and eat them all day. Lol. Staff are polite, and while they may primarily speak mandarin, I had no trouble communicating my order by just pointing. Next, I'll order some pig ear and potato!

Derrick K.

Yelp
Yunnan Restaurant in Monterey Park was one of the most unique eating experiences I have come across! First you get seated and then you go to the counter to order your cold dishes! I recommend the cucumber, pig ears, and mushrooms! Now the food was very good with my favorites being the Yunnan House Special Rice Noodle Soup, Yunnan Special Fried Rice Cake, Mapo Tofu, and Pineapple Fried Rice! The service here is great even if you don't speak Chinese and the servers are super friendly! Highly recommend this place to everyone out there, you won't be disappointed! Thank you Yunnan Restaurant!

Pratichya T.

Yelp
Food is always amazing! I usually get their pork fried rice and beef with green onions

Chelsea C.

Yelp
Yelp 3.5 stars means good food, but don't expect much for service... Yep, that is true here. My group came to Yunnan Restaurant around 7pm on a Tuesday and it wasn't very busy. We ordered lamb with toothpick, intestine dry pot, boiled fish with szechuan special sauce, 3 flavor noodle soup, and cold dishes of seaweed, tofu noodles, and tripe. Everything tasted delicious, so it was hard picking a favorite. Out of everything, the noodle soup was the most bland, but it made a good palate cleanser from all the spicy. The spiciness was on the asian mild/medium side and not overly spicy. There's a parking lot in the back.

Christine L.

Yelp
I come here only for the cold dishes that I get as a take out order. They have lots to choose from but I'm there to get all vegan options. Marinated Tofu, garlic cucumbers, marinated bean curd, pickled fungus/radish, mushrooms, peanuts, list goes on and on. 3 vegan items for $9ish? It's cash only under $20 I presume but with most small businesses it's safer to bring cash- they'll appreciate it.

Yolanda C.

Yelp
These waitresses are scandalous. My sister in law who is from China took us there to eat. She paid the bill, the waitress came outside after us and OBLIGATED her to leave a 15% tip! Last time we were there, she paid the bill and left a tip and the cashier said it wasn't enough tip, that she had to pay 15%. My sister in law said to me, why do we have to pay 15% at restaurants in America, we do not tip in China. I told her, it's a choice. It's not an obligation. A tip is based on service and only if you want to tip, it's up to you to tip, it's an option not required. I called Yunnan Restaurant to ask why they are obligating customers to pay a 15% tip. He got upset and started yelling at me. VERY LOW CLASS SHAMELESS people!! I do not recommend!!!

Julian C.

Yelp
One of my all time favorite Chinese restaurant food choices.... Shockingly, I don't expect friendly service from an older, authentic Chinese restaurant.... but I was pleasantly surprised at how accomodating every server was. Ambience is older hole in the wall'ish... but clean.... My favorite dishes were crispy spicy shrimp with the shells on.... so crispy that even the head was completely edible.... I also had the spicy fish stew and the fatty pork belly with the buns.... chicken fried rice (thumbs up from my very sensitive Mexican husband) and the cold dishes from the counter side (spicy pig ears, seaweed and tofu skin).... ALLLLL DELICIOUS!! I told my family, the next time I visit CA, Yunnan Restaurant is the first place I'm coming back to for catching up on my Chinese food.... I'm already planning out my next trip out.... lol....

Grace C.

Yelp
I like their taste of food, the staff worked so hard to serve the customers and friendly. I only hope they can improve the lighting in the restaurant, it's way to dark for a restaurant and people dine-in, feel depression eating there.

Thien H.

Yelp
Terrible service!!!!!! One of the waitresses kept giving us attitude, showing us clearly that she does not want to serve us. i don't know why she even work there. Every time we tried to order something. She kept refusing to take our order and she gave us the look that we were begging for her food. Will never go back there. Don't need this shit!!!!

Yan W.

Yelp
We haven't been to Yunnan Restaurant for years but we were craving for their rice noodles and cold dishes today. They have large selection of cold appetizers to choose. We first saw "Scan To Order" QR code menu so we ordered #1 Yunnan House Special Rice Noodle in Chicken Broth (Cordyceps Flower) w/ Bone $13.99 via the online menu. Then we went to the cold appetizer deli section and picked 3 veggie items for $8.99. It was very fulfilling for 2 of us. The presentation was very nice with a large plate on top of the hot soup pot. The server told us that we should put all the ingredients into the pot first then rice noodle at last. It was not oily like it used to be so I like it more than before. The rice noodle was in a big portion and we couldn't finish it all. For the cold appetizers, we picked 3 veggie items (garlic cucumbers, thinly shredded potato, and black fungus mushroom (wood ear mushroom) and they were so addictive and marinated so well and flavorful. It was a pleasant experience and their service has improved.

Yelp
Soooo... I got a baby cockroach in my takeout. The taste was okay until I discovered the bug. The restaurant only wants to refund me for this one dish. I threw everything else away. It all came out of the same kitchen. Would you eat it?

Yelp
I can only speak for yhe cold dishes from take out as this is my go to place for it. They have the most choices and all very delicious. My favorites being the chicken feet, pork head meat, pork ears and beef jerky. They are all pretty spicy, but also super delicious. The prices I feel are very adequate. The door is on the side and then you walk through to get to the front where the side dishes are. Enjoy!

Yelp
This is the second location of Yunnan, the other one is in San Gabriel. There is a section to order cold appetizer and frozen foods, and also a usual restaurant section. I think the Yunnan Restaurant best dishes are shredded spicy pork, kung pao chicken, and cumin lamb (all 3 are a bit spicy). I'm not sure if the online ordering system is set up, so I would place a phone call if you want to order pickup.

Yelp
KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS! They will play dumb to get more tip out of you. I enjoyed the food because of it's authenticity. I didn't enjoy the dirty dishes and the dirty place! Everything was dirty! They took forever to get us a chopstick! They don't check on you. You have to flag them down for everything. They have the scan to order qr code system which I used and already added tip. My mom took the receipt showing the proof of tip and I had the one without. We left and the waitress chased us down and demanded tip. She conveniently showed me the receipt without proof of tip and I pulled out the receipt from mom that shows proof of tip and she played dumb and said "Oh sorry!". Yea they look at these things all day they know what's up! Not coming here for all these reasons. A shame because I enjoy Chinese food but thats ok because San Gabriel Valley has no shortage of those!

Yelp
We ordered takeout for 5 dishes below plus 3 item cold dish Stew pork noodle soup Wonton tossed with chili sauce Fried rice with dried pepper, ham and egg Pork intestines with pork blood Garlic Chinese lettuce 3 item cold dish During the time we were waiting in line for the cold dish, we overheard one of the ladies picking up the phone speaking in mandarin to a customer. The customer seemed to be upset that she was overcharged and the lady took out her calculator and apologized that she miscalculated the price. We were overcharged as well. Our food total was supposed to be around $72, but we were charged $94 instead. We were overcharged $22!!! We called the store and the lady said she would double check and give us a call back. She said for us to go in store and she will issue a refund with a not so good attitude! We did go back to the restaurant and got a refund. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK TRIPLE CHECK YOUR RECEIPT !! It doesn't help that the receipt doesn't have the breakdown of the items you ordered which is sketchy. This is not our first time coming to this restaurant, we ordered rice noodle before for to go. They forgot to add in the noodles. Good thing we checked at the restaurant right after we got our to go order. The food is good, it is just really bad service.

Yelp

Yelp
Food is good and the most popular items are their cold dishes but the review is more for their pricing. Its understandable for their price increase due to inflation but they also price their items according to whats popular or expensive instead of what is listed on their pricing. So be aware if you order bean curd you will be charged a premium as they place it as a meat item and not a veggie. In addition, they give much less than before so in the future im sorry to say I wont be back again. Good luck staying in business pricing out your loyal customers.

Yelp
This is one of those places where you can't review based on service. Take it easy on the aunties man, they're trying. Food is good and pretty reasonably priced. The cold dishes 3 items is fire. Come here all the time
