The Best Montreal Sushi Restaurants | Eater Montreal

"Mile End favourite Yuukai is known for the freshness of the fish on its compact menu. Try the tuna tatami, the tuna deluxe (with fried onions, shisho leaf, and a basil and teriyaki sauce), or explore the special omakase platter for two." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

This is one of my favorite sushi spots in Montreal. I recently visited with a friend, and we were both impressed by the exceptional service and the high quality of the food. Though it’s a smaller, more intimate restaurant, their menu features a curated selection of nigiri and maki, and every bite was fantastic. The prices are reasonable, and the cleanliness is impeccable, making for an all-around enjoyable dining experience.

I think it’s the best sushi in Montreal. We had the spring rolls and the tuna tartare to begin with and we had sushi as the main corses. We loved everything we had and everything is fresh. Definitely a place you must go, because the service was also A+. We really enjoy our experience and will go back for sure. Oh yes, very important, you can bring your own wine ;)

Do you know Yuukai in japense means Kidnap? It in deed kidnapped my stomachache while we are there and my mind now while I m writing the review. We have ordered all the popular stuff! The most amazed dish is:Mont fuji! Cipse at the bottom, soft at the top which provides the combination for the different texture. All the sushi roles we orders are good, sunshine, special K and Thon deluxe. When we dined in they also have Uni. Hmm yumyum! So fresh However I find the sushi pizza is a bit dry. Service is good and atmosphere is good Best part is: BYOB And price is not toooooo expensive! Very affordable. Friends ordered to go right away to share with her family Will definitely go back again and partyyyy

It's delicious! Their portions are generous especially for the sashimi or nigiri. I love their raw scallops and their broiled eel. It isn't traditional sushis are more a fusion. If we rely on the traditional flavor, I would say it's halfway there. There's no flavor in the rice to give an example. But as a fusion sushi, it's very good and the seafood is very fresh! The presentation is beautiful too. I'll be back for more.

My food experience at Yuukai was incredible... I went for the first time on December 30th and I am still dreaming about the mix of flavors that I tasted. We were 4, we only order from the chalkboard and every dish had something special. I highly recommend this place. Staff was friendly and in bonus its a BYO.

This is one of the best sushi restaurant I've been too. I've been here many times and I always let chef Karl decide my dinner. What's amazing is Karl attentiveness to details and his creative dishes. The specialty dishes are really really good. My friends and family always come out very satisfied. Price is very reasonable for the quality. Did I mention its a BYOB? I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a more refined Japanese/sushi. Enjoy!
