19 Beaverton Restaurants Making the Portland Suburb a Dining Destination

"Afuri and Ramen Ryoma are worthy places to get a Japanese noodle fix in Beaverton, but Yuzu, with its counter seating and slightly hidden location, feels the most like visiting Japan. The restaurant offers a few izakaya starters, as well as multiple styles of ramen. The standout is the Kakuni ramen, with a rich tonkotsu base, bamboo shoots, pickled ginger, wakame, a slice of chasu, plus stewed chunks of pork belly for good measure." - Krista Garcia, Janey Wong

Where to Find Soul-Soothing Ramen in Portland and Beyond

"This small, unmarked family-run izakaya is also hidden in a Beaverton strip mall, across the street from the Fred Meyer at Beaverton Town Square. The kakuni ramen, made of tonkotsu broth and straight noodles, is the most popular, but the shoyu and curry ramens are also worthwhile endeavors. There aren’t many meat-free options here, but pescatarians will have better luck with Yuzu’s selection of seafood dishes." - Ron Scott, Eater Staff

11 Incredible Izakayas in Portland and Beyond - Eater Portland

"Another ramen hotspot in Beaverton, Yuzu quietly houses a treasure trove of izakaya dishes (though the menu is more abbreviated than it once was). Sure, Yuzu serves traditional izakaya fare like pan-fried gyoza and agedashi tofu, but the menu really stands out thanks to dishes like “Mr. Nakano’s Fried Sausage,” breaded and fried sausages served like tonkatsu, as well as its wafu Japanese-style caesar salad with parmesan, fried gobo, and creamy miso dressing. Takeout is available." - Krista Garcia

Portland’s Must-Try Sake Lists for Pairing and Sipping - Eater Portland

"This hole-in-the-wall in Beaverton is hard to spot, but despite its humble interior it offers almost 20 sakes priced by size (small, large) or by the bottle. Pair your choice with a massive menu of izakaya favorites like tender buta no kakuni, a “cube” Carlton pork belly slow-stewed in sake and sweet soy sauce, or menchi katsu, deep-fried-and-breaded American Kobe beef and Carlton pork patty." - Pechluck Laskey

Delightful authentic Japanese dinner. The outside is unassuming, but as soon as you enter, you are greeted warmly by the friendly staff. Excellent Sake selection and lots of options for an excellent meal. Highly recommended if you're in the area.

Google
Delicious food using fresh and quality ingredients. The space is small and cozy with bar seating that’s great for solo accommodation. I usually prefer my Tonkotsu to be more milky and white, but assuming it’s a different style or method at Yuzu, it was still really good. Will return.

Google
Yuzu is absolutely my favorite Japanese restaurant. The service is excellent and the dishes are consistent in quality every visit. The Japanese fare here is exactly the way I remember them from my trip to Japan. I have not found a better curry rice than yuzu and the kakuni Ramen here is fantastic.

Google
In a SW strip mall. There’s no obvious signage. Blacked-out windows. YET, Yuzu packs out. We get there just before they open to get a table. Last night was a treat: Tried sparkling sake (I'm a sucker for bubbles). The blue bottle—bedazzling. The tiny glass—adorable. Jury's out on pairing it with ramen—can’t beat a Japanese lager. Here we go... Gyoza: paper-thin wrapper, crisp on the bottom, delicious, tender filling. Never enough. Agedashi tofu (inhaled, so no photo): delicate tofu in an equally delicate crispy coating. Chicken karage: tender enough to "sever" with chopsticks (after swooping in on my first bit-too-big molten piece). Kewpie mayo and lemon—what's not to love? Curry ramen (make-you-cough medium spicy): I like this ramen when I'm up for something robust—big flavors to the bottom of the bowl (I tapped out on the last third of broth—I tried, but sparkling sake, gyoza, tofu, chicken...!). Service: Gotta say it: They're a bad-ass all-women team (for a while now). Friendly, attentive service. Zen-like line—pleasure to watch as they create our food. Simple, clean décor (love the high-back banquette). Always a fantastic experience. Visit #: lost count I would recommend Yuzu to: 1) Military friends previously stationed in Japan 2) Animé fans (anime soundtracks play in the background) 3) First-time ramen-ers (lucky!)

Everything here is really delicious! The ramen is the best in town. The ambiance is cozy and comforting. All the dishes were very high quality as well. My only complaint is that the portion sizes are a bit small. It takes multiple dishes to get full.

Google
It’s like a secret restaurant in the corner lol cuz I was confused and I walked around and found them! Nice little Japanese own restaurant and their food are really good tbh. But the Raman can be kinda salty, and if they are delicious if you ask for little spicy on it.

Jeff Eddings

Google
I am from Japan, my extended family all own Japanese noodle restaurants in Japan. I can tell you, this food definitely is authentic and delicious and reminded me of home! They are masterful with frying, we had fried squid, fried chicken, pan-fried gyoza, it was all just about the best version of those I've eaten. Menu is varied, something for everyone.

Google
We visited on a weekday evening for dinner. I would definitely look up pictures of street view for this place as it is not easy to spot especially if it’s your first time visiting. We got seated at the bar. It’s a small space but tasteful. We got the Kakuni Tonkotsu and shoyu ramen. Both were delicious with flavorful broth and tender meat. We were offered two spice levels mild or . We chose medium but it was a bit hot for our liking so will choose mild next time.

Yelp
Slowly becoming one of my top go to on these cold winter days!! Love the vibes staff and food is so good!! Highly recommended but keep in mind small space so fills up pretty fast!!

Yelp
Tldr it was ok??? Yummy but not the best I have had. I think I was too hyped up for this place with all the reviews I read and I even asked some locals about their experience here and everyone I asked said this was the best ramen they had ever eaten. While it was tasty, it definitely isn't the best ramen I have ever had. I would give the ramen a 6/10. The broth was ok but I didn't really enjoy the noodles. The other food was delicious as well. I really enjoyed the shishito peppers and the salad. The almond slices in the salad were a nice bit of texture and it wasn't overly saucy. The gyoza was fine. The mentaiko was nice and probably the closest to "feeling like Japan" I got from this experience. The service was great though and they were very nice with answering our many questions while we were ordering. Overall I was a bit disappointed by the food but it was still a solid eating experience.

Yelp
Yuzu is one of the best ramen in Beaverton! I love how unassuming the outside is which makes you feel like you've stumbled across gatekept gem. The chicken karaage is incredibly delicious with a crispy coating and tender inside. Their ramen broths are also very rich and smooth, but not heavy which I greatly enjoy.

Yelp
You gotta come to Yuzu, in Beaverton, OR, for authentic Japanese classic food! Visiting from Vancouver, BC we have a lot of exceptional Japanese ramen restaurants and if Yuzu opened in Vancouver, they would do amazing! You might walk past Yuzu as there is no large sign on the exterior. Once you enter, the interior is so cozy and inviting. We shared Agedashi Tofu and we all ordered ramen. Hubby likes his spicy (Kokuni Ramen) and rest of us ordered mild Miso Ramen. I did ask for soba noodles (buckwheat) instead of egg noodles as it is good for my dietary restriction. Delicious and satisfying. We came the day before to make a reservation for next day (dinner). I believe it was the owner we talked to and we weren't sure if she remember us as as it didn't write it down. We were pleasant to see our table had a 'reserve' sign when were seated. Wonderful service!

Yelp
Very cute place nestled in a small shopping center. The restaraunt gave family owned vibes and was very chill and homey. The ramen was so great. Not too heavy and refreshing yet filling. Had a lot of great flavor. Service was quick tooo! Will come here again

Yelp
Food/Drinks: 5/5 The food is immaculate every single time. Out of all of the ramen restaurants that I've had in the Portland metro area, this is definitely the best. Furthermore, their consistency is outstanding. Regardless of whatever you are eating, it is immaculate every single time. Service/Atmosphere/Prices: 5/5 The service provided by the staff is top tier. It has the classic Izakaya vibes. Overall Comments: 5/5 Continues to exceed expectations. Will continue to refer friends and definitely will return.

Yelp
This place was recommended by a friend and since we were in the area, we decided to give it a try. It was small but cozy place and the staff were very nice. This ramen broth was very flavorful and light. It was delicious but not oily, or overly rich to the point of overpowering the dish. It was beautifully balanced and the pork was very tender. I would definitely come here again.

Yelp
Yuzu is one of beaverton institutions, a hidden gem. In fact, it could be challenging to find their shop as it simply marked "YUZU" on their entrance. It's been a while since I was there, so I was pleasantly surprised nothing really has changed. Knowing there were limited seatings , we called ahead to make a reservation and we were glad we did. Many drop in customers had to wait for 30 minutes or turned away, which could be a bummer. The food here is Japanese beer house style. You'll find some rice balls, grilled meat, and other common Japanese dishes such as Katsu and ramen here. We ordered some sake, grilled shishito peppers, the house ramen and katsu curry rice, and liked all of what we ordered. The ramen was rich and savory, with fall apart pork belly chunks. My boyfriend really enjoyed the smooth curry and crunchy pork katsu as well. It was fun to see what the chef was doing thru the open kitchen, and our servers were very friendly and attentive, which made our dining experience very enjoyable. Overall, we like this little gem in beaverton and will come back again.

Yelp
This is the kind of Ramen place you go to if you're old and like good food without someone's idea of crappy music blaring or sports playing on giant flat screens. This is where you come when you want to bask in the coziness of knowing your food was prepared in a kitchen you can see, the employees like each other, and the couple running the place knows what they're doing. The sake is brilliant. The ramen will wisk you away to Japan. It has to be tried to be believed. Don't take my word for it.

Yelp
Great food as usual and authentic Japanese cuisine . Traditional Japanese menus are available here. Price is reasonable and great tasty Japanese food will be serve.

Yelp
I loved their vegetarian ramen! There was a generous amount of noodles with enough veggies and tofu to make it filling without overpowering. The broth tasted well too. They also have 2 optional levels of spice (medium-spicy and spicy) and I went with Spicy. The broth was more red and hotter but it enhanced the experience without sacrificing the taste - if you love your spice definitely go for it. I switched the egg noodles for rice noodles, which was fresh and went really well with the ramen. Service was great, we unknowingly stayed past closing but they didn't rush us out and were kind with us from start to finish. The place itself was clean and felt homely and a had a small family-vibe to it. It is hard to find the place though, it's in the same parking lot to the UPS store but their sign is not lit up outside so if you park in that lot and walk to the right of UPS you should be able to find it.

Yelp
Amazing Ramen and Sake! Great Service! Wish they are open longer tho yet I understand that's why the quality of food is excellent due to small batches production.
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite ramen places to go to in town. The exterior is very subtle, and you may miss it. They have done some small upgrades over the years. The interior is nice and cozy. I had the Kakuni Ramen this time and shared a bowl of gyu-don. The ramen was perfect! The broth was rich and full of great flavors. The gyu-don was a perfect complement to the ramen.
google avatar

Yelp
Very busy on prime times, luckily we were able to get a seat. The server was very pleasant and nice. We order their chicken karage, grilled whole squid and their signature ramen Kakuni! Definitely recommend these orders. We got our ramen very spicy and the heat was there.
google avatar

Ke'ala B.

Yelp
This is the best hidden gem I have possibly ever had. I'm half Japanese and my family made authentic ramen almost every night when I was a kid. Unfortunately they have passed. When my dish came out, I put my nose to it and it brought me back to their kitchen. my tonkatsu ramen had amazing flavor. It had chili flakes, green onions, garlic, seaweed and a lot of other ingredients that I can't identify. The heat was perfect and the flavor was truly out of this world. My daughter loved her curry ramen and boyfriend loved his mackerel and miso ramen. We also had the karaage appetizer which was crispy, flavorful and mouth watering. The restaurant is super cute and decorated well. You can see the staff cooking. The bathroom is enormous! The ambiance was perfect. It was packed when we got there at 7:30pm on a Thursday but we only had to wait 20 minutes. It's definitely a little difficult to find. It's in a strip mall, has dark windows and a tiny sign that you can barely see. Trust me, it's worth it. If you read my review and don't come here, you will regret it. We will definitely be back to try everything and I know it will all be as delicious as the food we had tonight.
google avatar

Sally C.

Yelp
Hole in the wall restaurant that's worth the try! Long wait though so make sure you arrive early! Flavor was really good but they don't give much noodles.
google avatar

Kim L.

Yelp
The other reviews here are right that it's best to come at opening time to get a seat. I arrived at 6pm and all the tables were filled by 6:15pm. The ramen was simple ramen done well. The fried fish cakes was really delicious. Hot, crispy and tasty.
google avatar

Sepand S.

Yelp
I came here to dine alone the other night having heard great things from some friends / acquaintances. It was a cold night and I was ready for some soul-warming Japanese food. Upon entry, you're greeted by an incredibly kind staff and relaxed atmosphere. This is clearly a great place to relax, order sake / beer, and food while hanging out with friends. I ordered some hot sake (waitress / owners rec), pork Katsu (single order), and the curry ramen. The sake was great and both food items hit the spot although may have been a little underwhelming (curry ramen was good but not great and the Katsu was deliciously tender but the crust got soggy quickly). Overall, I'd come here again with a small group and focus my food orders on the Izakaya style foods and drinks. I'd recommend this more for a group hang than for a solo dining experience.
google avatar

Seung Hwan S.

Yelp
Portland and Beaverton have few izakaya. For Beaverton, after Afuri stopped serving skewers, I had no place to go for Japanese grilled foods. Yuzu perhaps is the only place to go, and its grill selections are amazing. From squid to chicken to mackerel, it offers pretty good options. Ramen is disappointing, so recommend non-ramen options. Draft is also great. Some local breweries disappoint customers with poor glass management and quality of draft beer itself, so even this place outcompetes them easily.

Lucero C.

Yelp
The food was flavorful and plenty, although I only got a single, albeit medium sized, piece of meat. I enjoyed it a lot, regardless. I got a BBQ totsaku ramen and an oolong tea, and my friend got the same with hot tea, as well as pork gyoza, so with 20% tip out total was like $40. They are only open 3 hours a day and were a full house at 6:15 when we went on a Tuesday evening. We waited a total of 50 mins from the time we arrived to the time we got our food. They did take our order as soon as they sat us and the staff was very friendly and attentive, so we really didn't mind. The place is a bit of a hidden gem, with no signage and low-key decor but the energy is surprisingly vibrant. I'm excited to go back!

Ren M.

Yelp
Staff was awesome and very considerate, but what is up with some of these portions for the price? The gyudon wasn't so bad, but the curry rice had THREE pieces of meat in it... the several carrots there weren't enough. It didn't make me full, and I'm not even that big of an eater. At least have a potato in there for calories if you're not going to have any meat. Sad, because it tasted pretty alright. I'll come back but I'll have to try something else.
google avatar

Yelp
Located in a non descript mall sandwiched to a vape and Dede's, no big sign just the logo on the door, so say to miss, best kept Ramen secret in Beaverton. Often it seems it's the owner and wife cooking and serving so a little of the best service and love in the kitchen to your tummy! Come early or expect to wait, one of the reason I haven't been back in three years, but wife came and loved it and I came right at opening on a slow Monday Squid 5 stars Tofu: 5 stars Kakuni Ramen 5 stars, such the right balance of broth that you can drink it all! Pork was so delicate Sho-Yu Ramen was a sold 4.5 stars with good balance of taste and not too salty. Noodles were just right, soft but also firm enough not a sign of mushiness. Reminds me, I got to make this drive more often when I want the best balance of Ramen in Beaverton
google avatar

James H.

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday around 7:30pm and there was absolutely no wait! To be honest, I never even noticed this place in the plaza. What's good: - Very homey and cozy Japanese food! - Feels less like a restaurant and more like I'm relaxing at home. - Love the presentation of the squid. - Staff is very nice. - The store front is so discreet, but I think I like it this way!

Ariana P. F.

Yelp
Excellent service, the gyudon and the Kaarage were delicious and the the service was friendly and fast!
google avatar

Bernadette H.

Yelp
The food here is delicious! We ordered the curry rice, sake (grilled salmon) onigiri, karaage, and the kakuni ramen. I loved that the rice with the onigiri was salted and stuffed well. The ramen was light and refreshing. I enjoyed that it wasn't so enriched and overpowering with flavor. The karaage included the skin which was great but otherwise it was okay. The curry dish was good too, great porportions between the curey itself and the rice/meat. The outside could use more decorations or an easier indication that they're open other than their "YES WE'RE OPEN" sign. At night it's hars to tell of the sign is for next door or not. It looks like a dark corner. Overall, this place was good and very cozy! I would love to come back again.
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
Pretty average Japanese ramen run by Japanese staff. The broth seems authentic, but the toppings are so skimpy. I only received 1 really thin piece of chashu, which wasn't even that tender. Egg was so-so. My quest to find legit, tasty ramen in Portland continues.
google avatar

Shane W.

Yelp
We were really pleased with the ramens we got here. Everything had great flavors, we just would have preferred a little more spice in our dishes (and a few more bamboo shoots, i think i got one). Great customer service too, our order was taken quickly and we got our food in no time.
google avatar

Adam M.

Yelp
The service was terrible. We were seated before 3 or 4 tables, but the last to even receive water and a menu. The waitress was very biased towards a group because they were Japanese (and spoke the language). That group came in last, but was given drinks before others got menus or water. All this for food that is very mid tier. If you want better ramen, go to Kizuki, Fuddoyama, or Koku.
google avatar

Heather L.

Yelp
Behind the mirrors is a really great Japanese restaurant. It is hard to find and not well labeled, but look for the line. The staff was just lovely and smiley and awesome. The food was delicious. Yummy!
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
One of the best hidden gems in Beaverton. A friend recommended that I visit this place to try great japanese food. I was blown away. The servers are super nice and service is very fast. I tried their onigiri, soba and mackerel and all were very tasty. They had a wide selection of sake as well and they recommended a cloudy one for me since I enjoyed drinks on the sweet side. It was very smooth and had hints of coconut. I would give this place 6 stars if I could.
google avatar

Cheyenne -.

Yelp
A very small, and beautiful Japanese spot. Amazing ramen, and very sweet staff. Worth the price, and more then filling.

Andrew T.

Yelp
The food here is super authentic, was given the stamp of approval by my wife who grew up in Japan. The staffs were wonderful, and attentive the entire time we were there. I love the wide selection of sake along with some very unique Oregon brewed sake. The cold noodles, karage and onigiri were very similar to what we had in Japan.
google avatar

Taylor B.

Yelp
There is no sign out front so be sure to look for the small sign on the door. It's a pretty intimate place with only a few tables. We were one of the only parties not speaking Japanese, and I usually feel that if you're speaking the language of the cuisine it's probably a pretty dang good place. We were not disappointed! We both got the kakuniramen and split a gyoza. Super tasty and generous portions! Will definitely be back here!
google avatar

Jina H.

Yelp
3.5 Got myself the signature Kakuni- ramen and it came within 10 minutes and while it hit the spot for the fall, rainy weather- it wasn't all too memorable. The pork belly was very fatty, and the sliced bbq pork plus bamboo shoots was given sparingly (I didn't even have a whole piece but small fragments). It seemed that the toppings were placed in the bowl first then the broth as some were at the very bottom. I did enjoy the sesame seeds and ginger it came with for extra flavor in the broth. For the price it didn't seem as worth it as much as the other ramen options. On the weekend it gets crowded very quickly and with a wait too. I barely managed to grab a seat at bar an hour after they opened. Also, no hooks for belongings under the table for bar seating. 2 card limit per table if that is your method of payment. The service is good in terms of the staff, two servers didn't seem overwhelmed with everyone waiting and though it took a minute for my order to get placed after that it was fine. I do think the starters and other items on the menu sound good and would be willing to come back when it's not as crowded
google avatar

Patrick W.

Yelp
Yuzu and I had a very rough start when it first opened over a decade ago. No seating available at 5:30pm opening because you are booked solid at 6pm. Hmm... didn't think about saving seats for walk-ins long ago. That's in the past, with multiple ownership changes (I'm guessing) and ramen choices in the area, seating isn't as crazy as before. Now it's a consistent, high quality ramen joint with friendly service and a clean atmosphere. I'll always get the kakuni and nothing else, I just feel it's the best value as it's a more complex broth and yummy soft chunks of pork always hits the spot. I get it with curly noodles rather than traditional straight noodles. I just wish their extra additions weren't so high priced relative to other ramen establishments in the city. Extra noodles and a soft boiled egg will add 50% more cost to your bowl. That's kinda high, soft boiled eggs take time to prepare, but noodles are relatively inexpensive. But make no mistake they make a mean soft boiled egg that is sure to please, just gotta be willing to pay for it.
google avatar

Cassandra C.

Yelp
The Ramen has not arrived yet and I am already feeling the magic. Yuzu has an open kitchen so we are able to watch these lovely ladies work on getting the food out. They have skills. They dance around each other, making it all look so easy but there is no lack of work ethic here. Yuzu is tiny. Prepare for a wait. Open for both lunch and dinner, they close for a couple hours in between. They have no sign above the restaurant, but they are here! We ordered the Kukuni (their "signature" ramen). Tonkotsu broth with BBQ pork, stewed pork belly and all the fixings. If you want tamago you will need to order it on the side. We did. Along side the ramen is a small plate of delicious garlic paste and sesame seeds. Yuzu's Ramen is a bit different but in some great ways. While I thought certain things could be better I was extremely impressed with other things. Uncommon in the U.S., they serve fine, thin egg noodles in their Ramen. While my companion wasn't a fan of them, I liked them. What really got me was the broth and it impressed my guest too. When you think Tonkotsu you think rich, creamy and salty right? Well at Yuzu their broth is very light, almost like chicken but they managed to achive that deep rich flavor in such a light broth. It was quite unique for Tonkotsu. The Tamago was not soy marinated but it was cooked easy (yay). The stewed pork belly was sweet, yes, sweet. It was unlike any I have encountered before and stewed to melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Perhaps a Mirin marinade? Either way it was very good with the broth and the little strips of spicy ginger. Yuzu, while a bit different is a solid contender.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place a better review.. the first time here during covid everything was amazing. We were seated right away and the servers were very attentive. The second time we tried dining in at 7pm they hit max capacity and was closing at 8pm, which we understood no worries. The third time we came at 6pm and I had just opened the door and the lady screamed we hit max capacity no more people. The lady had came out to wipe the doors and we asked if there was a waiting list we could put our name on she said "no ok leave" wait so if we wanted to eat here is it even possible? Wish they had a better system...but we're done driving to Beaverton for disappointment.

Yelp
The ramen was solid, but the star in my eyes with the Karaage! Perfectly seasoned, and a pinch of citrus from the lemon. Sooo good! Small spot, corner of a plaza with no signage. Truly a hole in the wall! Really friendly staff, fun menu with a lot of things to try tapas style if you don't go for the ramen. Literally making a note that I enjoyed the Karaage so I know it's a must next time I go back!

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant. The food is delicious. The service is great and very helpful especially if you need any help choosing dinner for the night. After coming back from a trip to Japan I wanted some of the Japanese food I tried there and this place scratches that itch every time.
google avatar

Maji M.

Yelp
This restaurant does not have a sign on the front so when you're looking for it, it is located to the left of Dede's. Maybe they didn't put a sign on purpose so you'd get hungry just looking for it! We got seated right away as we had a late dinner. We came at almost 9pm. The restaurant has an open concept so it's nice to see the owner making the orders. I enjoyed the beef tongue and gyoza! I recommend those for the small plates. The gyoza is cute and bite size. We also ordered the agadashi tofu and the grilled squid. I was not a fan of those 2. I ordered the Kakuni Ramen. I thought it was okay. I liked the pork belly. I did not like the noodles. I also tried my brother's noodles that had curly egg noodles and did not like those either. The broth wasn't too bad. It was flavorful, and a bit on the top salty side. I would come here again if I'm in the area and craving ramen but I wouldn't say it's the best.

Yelp
Probably one of my all time favorite Japanese Izakaya in the Portland area. Owners is a nice Japanese couple. The husband cooks amazing authentic Japanese dishes that will just blow your mind away. If you're in the mood of sake & chill or just want to know what real Japanese food taste like, then you should definitely check it out !!

Yelp
The best authentic Japanese food in town. The sake selection is fantastic. The owners and servers are friendly. All the things you need in a restaurant.

After a night filled with ice cream and donuts, I needed some sort of Asian cuisine fix. It was a pretty cold day so naturally, I wanted hot soup. Yuzu is a bit hard to find because their signage is practically made for ants so you will easily miss it. Just look for Dede's, it is to the left of them. Kakuni Ramen -- They have a healthy selection of options but I thought it be best to go with their signature. Their pork bone flavored soup had a lot of depth but the noodles were a bit of a disappointment. Not sure what kind they use but I didn't feel like it complemented the soup very well. Agedashi Tofu -- Lackluster. Either the tofu was previously frozen or just old but the crispy outter skin was soggy. Was a little bummed they didn't top it with bonito flakes. I'd skip this appetizer altogether. The space is very cozy but their open kitchen is great entertainment while you wait for your food to come out.

Yelp
very cute and cozy spot. i got the agadeshi tofu for appetizer and it was awesome. ordered the kakuni special ramen. beware of the spiciness - usually for ramens even when you order spicy it's fine for me but omg it was so spicy here. good flavor though. make sure you come early before they open so you're seated right away. i came at 6:15 on a wednesday night and i was the second to last party to be seated. weekends are definitely more crowded.

Yelp
Very compact restaurant with a small sign on their door to signify their presence in a strip mall near the Beaverton Transit Center. They're very friendly, and looking around, a very cozy atmosphere with the workers and the other customers. I'm biased because I'm Japanese and my mother is a great cook, so beware! We got their shio jidori yaki and hot soba with daikon and nameko (type of mushroom). The soba was mediocre - their soup had too much soy sauce and too little dashi so it was salty. Very little daikon, and the nameko tasted slightly pungent like it was just sprinkled on top straight from the can. Their jidori chicken had very little to the dish, but also was a solid dish. Can't go wrong with jidori, as it is always tender and juicy. I tried my friends tonkotsu ramen broth which was good. Very good broth flavor and I see why it's popular there. However there was very little toppings - 1 slice of chyashu, a pinch of seaweed, 1 egg. Happy I got to cross this place off of my list, however it reinforces my lack of interest in eating Japanese outside of home. Come to try their tonkotsu ramen, as there are many who love that dish!

Yelp
Yuzu is a family owned business and you can taste the love and care that is put into each dish! I truly enjoy every experience I have whether it's take out or dine in, they always deliver the same excellence

Yelp
Love this place. Service is great as well as the food and even with mask they're smiling eyes. She checked back with us about every 5 minutes, topping of water and making sure we still had tea. The food I can't say enough about.

Yelp
Yuzu is the best ramen I've had in the Portland area. Located in a nondescript strip mall in the middle of Beaverton, this place is easy to miss. However, once you step in through the entryway, you will be welcomed by an understated yet truly legit Japanese ramen experience. The service is impeccable, as the server is quick to serve a little edamame to snack on while you look through the menu. My cup of water was never empty as they came by pretty often to refill my drink. For appetizers I recommend the gyoza (aka potstickers). The process of making gyoza is deceptively hard to get to get right. A proper gyoza is boiled and then fried to the point where it's lightly browned. Most places will simply boil and/or deep fry the gyoza for the sake of expediency. Not only does Yuzu do the gyoza the right way, they also do the dipping sauce the right way too. Sometimes the dipping sauce is pure soy sauce, which is too salty. Sometimes they put in too much rice vinegar, which then makes it too acidly. Again yuzu does this just right with the perfect mix to compliment the gyoza. As for the ramen itself, you can't really go wrong with any of the dishes. The broths are all very flavorful and they are very generous with the pork slices. I would recommend the shoryu (soy based) or the tonkotsu (pork broth). In short, if you're in a mood for serious ramen, then yuzu is definitely worth the trip!
