Yuzu Review - Harlem - New York - The Infatuation

"Similar to outlets in your bedroom, everyone should be aware of their closest great neighborhood sushi spot. And, in the case of anyone who lives near 125th Street in Central Harlem, that sushi spot should be Yuzu. The rolls and pieces here are all moderately priced (most are under $10), and there are a few different sake options that you can make a flight out of. Yuzu is casual and relaxed enough for everyone from a date to a family with several middle-school aged children, and the bar works well if you want to just stop by for a solo meal. photo credit: Alex Staniloff" - Hannah Albertine

What an exciting find. My family of 4 loved every dish we tried. We will definitely be back.

Phenomenal! If you are looking for great food with a serene atmosphere, this is the place to go. The dishes were very well executed. This cozy place gives that homelike vibe that people crave. We met the chef, and she was wonderful. We will definitely be back soon. I highly recommend.

One of the best Japanese restaurants in the tri state area! This is a small intimate Japanese restaurant with a fantastic menu. The flavor and menu items offered here is unheard of in Southern Illinois. You would be hard pressed to find the same level of style and execution. If you love authentic Japanese cuisine, you HAVE TO YRY THIS PLACE! They even use real wasabi, not the stuff in tube!! We went with a friend and tried almost everything. Takoyaki (octopus in light airy batter), Hamachi Kama (yellowtail collarbone cooked over hot coals) ebi shumai (shrimp) ama ebi (prawn nigiri with lightly fried heads), sashimi combo, gyoza, Their 5 course wagyu beef, chawanmushi (egg custard soup) and unagi donburi (eel over rice). Ika yaki (grilled squid)

A wonderful experience all around — elegant and friendly service, pleasant atmosphere, and fantastic food. Every ingredient was supreme quality which really helped bring the dishes together. My personal favorite was the yuzu poke; the fish is a MUCH higher caliber than any other sushi or poke I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to dozens of places including in Chicagoland. The fish is extremely soft and exploding with flavor that I’ve never experienced before. But don’t worry, the katsu curry was also spectacular and so was the katsudon. Also a big fan of the yuzu sour! You can tell a lot of thought and mastery has been put into crafting these dishes. I live an hour away, but will definitely be back! Yes, the price is a little high, but it’s truly a unique experience that is beyond what a typical restaurant offers. Don’t listen to that negative guy he’s just mad his card declined

The older Japanese woman was very rude for no reason, but the Ramen was delicious. I love a good Tonkatsu, and the addition of pickled ginger was beautiful. I loved that you got a whole egg too. They at first refused carryout, which is silly since they have such a small space. Then they got overwhelmed and allowed carryout to other customers while we had to sit and eat. We were trying to get it to go so that we could eat with a family member who cannot travel.

The food was amazing and so delicious and best of all AUTHENTIC! It was made with passion and love by the owner/chef! I can’t recommend this place enough! Best authentic Japanese restaurant around! With generous portions! Staff was also so inviting and gave great service!

My favorite restaurant in Cape Girardeau. The sea bass is such an amazing umami bomb, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The katsu curry and poke are also phenomenal. Don't be afraid to try something new like the chawanmushi, a steamed, savory egg custard or start off small with a lunch time bento box. Follow them on social media for events like ramen pop ups and special dinners. I hope this place is around forever.

A real Japanese atmosphere. Had chirashisushi and. Unagidon. Chef very personable as was the waiter. A delightful evening found serendipitously while traveling down to New Orleans. As good as any restaurant in Tokyo and you didn’t have to pay the airfare. Will be back the next drive down.

Yelp
For the main course, I opted for the Salmon and USA Prime Pork 5-Course Meal, which was an impressive array of flavors and textures. The salmon was fresh and tender, and the pork had a great balance of tenderness and rich flavor. Each course was thoughtfully prepared, and I appreciated the attention to detail in the presentation. In addition to the 5-course meal, I sampled several other dishes, each of which stood out in its own way: * The Tempura Udon was comforting and hearty, with crispy tempura and flavorful noodles in a savory broth. * The Karaage (Japanese fried chicken) was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside--definitely a highlight of the meal. * The Yakisoba was savory and satisfying, with a nice balance of veggies and noodles, stir-fried just right. * The Chawanmushi, a delicate steamed egg custard, had a silky texture and subtle flavors that were very enjoyable. * The Katsudon (breaded pork cutlet over rice) was hearty and flavorful, with the perfect balance of crispy and tender. * The Sashimi Combination was fresh and well-curated, with a good variety of fish, all of which were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The atmosphere at Yuzu is cozy and inviting, and the service was friendly and attentive. The menu has a great range of options, and the quality of the food speaks for itself. Overall, I was really impressed by the variety and quality of dishes at Yuzu. Whether you're looking for a full-course meal or just a few smaller plates, this restaurant delivers on both flavor and experience. Highly recommended if you're in Cape Girardeau and in the mood for authentic Japanese cuisine!

Yelp
Authentic Japanese cuisine! The location in downtown Cape Girardeau is easy to find with public parking across the street. The restaurant reminds me of neighborhood restaurants in Tokyo: cozy, neat, clean, and modern. The service is personalized, professional, and also entertaining as many dishes are prepared or finished right in front of you! This is our favorite restaurant for the high quality food. It is presented exquisitely! The dishes are unique and is so much more than sushi! We've never had anything that we didn't love. Reservations are required.

Yelp
10/10 best restaurant in Cape Girardeau. Wonderful hospitality, owner/chef comes out to greet you, flavors of the dishes are very authentic, style of the restaurant is just like that of Izakaya's in Japan!

Yelp
Without a doubt, the best Japanese food/sushi in town. Frankly, it's probably as good or better than anywhere in St. Louis. It's a very small and cozy place in downtown Cape. Has the very authentic Japanese layout. They have a wide variety of Japanese dishes, not just sushi. The kind of stuff that Japanese eat regularly. I don't want to be that guy, but I've been fortunate enough to visit Japan, and the food here would fit right in. The owner is Japanese. Udon was delightful, Onigiri was divine, takoyaki (octopus balls) was tasty, and the sushi is flown in from Japan. Truly, it's fine dining experience but can also be very reasonable prices depending on what you order. Apparently they also do lunch bento boxes which are very popular. Anyway, highly recommended.

Yelp
Authentic, service excellent. Fresh food and quality excellent. I would recommend that you bring friends. Environment very clean and uncluttered. We have eaten here several times and food has been consistently good and beautifully served. Ample portions and diverse menu.

Yelp
Great little restaurant in downtown Cape G, MO. Who would have thought I would have the best Katsu curry since I left Japan 30 years ago!
