The Best Restaurants In Avalon, Stone Harbor & Sea Isle - Jersey Shore - The Infatuation

"Right by Stone Harbor Boulevard and Shelter Haven Bay, this Italian and French deli has the Great Sound on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. It’s also the best place in the area to get tailor-made Cajun roast beef sandwiches, a classic reuben, Italian hoagies, or even a creative fruit sandwich with pears, strawberries, brie, greens, and poppy seed dressing. With a window-filled atrium and plants all around, it’s a nice indoor escape after hot-sand hopping at Seven Mile Beach." - regan stephens, sydney mcelwee, candis mclean

I needed to pick up a fast lunch, and decided I would finally try out Yvette's Cafe! They were pretty busy and the restaurant was packed, but the worker still managed to direct me over to their Take-out window (which is a tiny side room). I got their Roast Beef sandwich. It was okay, but it was not worth $17 dollars. The sandwich looks like (see photo) it's absolutely packed with meat, right? It's not. Underneath that meat is literally a salad's worth of arugula. I knew there was arugula in the sandwich, but I didn't realize there would be so much I would feel like I was eating a grass sandwich for a moment. There were barely any caramelized onions, but the lemon mayo was decent. The roast beef was only okay quality, and I noticed the edge of one of the pieces had that rainbow sheen on it which means it's starting to go bad. The bread was also okay, but it was almost all crust, so it was very crunchy. Again, not worth $17 in the slightest. Maybe they have something else on their menu that's amazing, but it's not the Roast Beef sandwich. (Visit was on 04/13/2024!!)

Tucked away in a mini “galleria” Yvette’s has an adorable ambiance and welcoming owners who make you feel like a local. Ordered pesto sandwiches, soup of the day, lobster roll and fries! Lobster roll was SO fresh and the fries were crave-able. Everything was done with love! A must stop in Stone Harbor!

Very nice spot with relaxing environment and very good food. Server was very nice. Husband loved his smash burger! My tuna salad was very good as well.

Google
I've been getting sandwiches here for almost 20 years i think. My favorite are 1a and 1b - fresh tomato & mozzarella with either prosciutto or avocado on a baguette. They are so fresh and so tasty. Love the convenience little pick up window too.

⸻ We stopped by the small to-go coffee section and really enjoyed the board above the counter that displayed all the different drink makeups (for example, espresso and steamed milk = cappuccino). Earlier in the week, we had asked about one of the drinks, and while the staff member we spoke to wasn’t particularly friendly, we assumed she may have just had a long day. When we returned to order that drink, we were told it wasn’t available—and it came across as though it was something they never actually offer, despite it being listed on the board. We then tried to order a different drink from the board, but again, they were unable to make it, and it seemed as though that one had never been available either. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. The menu board is appealing and informative, but it’s frustrating to see items listed that can’t actually be ordered

Great little place for lunch in Stone Harbor. Our favorites: Lobster Roll, Grilled Shrimp Salad and Colossal Crab Salad. Always busy,

Google
Yvette’s is always my #1 recommendation for anyone visiting Stone Harbor! They have the BEST breakfast and lunch on the island, hands down. For breakfast egg, cheese and pork roll on sourdough is my favorite and if dining in try the croque madame. For lunch our favorite are the wings, French ham sandwich, porketta, tuna melt, grilled shrimp salad and Niçoise salad..but honestly you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. Organic food, homemade dressings, everything is high quality and made with care! You can tell Chef Tony takes pride in all he does and his team is a reflection of that. Friendly welcoming staff and amazing food every time we visit! We also love to visit Kathleen and Ethan at the coffee bar/market next door. We love their espresso and beignets! Thank you Yvette’s for always taking great care of our family when we dine in, take out and they have catered a few parties for us too!

My two daughters and I had a lunch there last week. My one daughter had the grilled vegetable on ciabatta bread and the grilled vegetables were plenty and beautifully grilled.. Other daughter and I ordered something we have never ordered in a restaurant; the egg salad and it was amazing. It’s eggs in mayonnaise and salt and I’m not sure what else but it was so yummy. I was making sounds like mmmmm. when I was eating it😃. Our waitress was a sweet young thing with a huge smile and very attentive. I can’t wait to go back and I’m getting that egg salad again.

Yelp
delicious food and friendly service . had the spinach and eggplant sandwich on a french baguette and my husband had a Reuben . both were so good and the bread was to die for . we are from Philly so we know our bread . will definitely be going back .

Yelp
we ordered a chicken salad sandwich to eat on the beach. it was freshly cooked chicken tossed with a bit of mayo, could have used some seasoning but it was tender. there were apple slices & a bit of lettuce also, on a nice baguette. little pricey, but on par with the area.

Yelp
We were walking through town looking for a good lunch not pub not fried. We happened on Yvette's. Judging by the crowd this was a happening spot for a Sunday stroll . The menu had a lot of French influences serving sandwiches on crispy baguettes. I opted for the roast beef sandwich, came with caramelized onions , mayonnaise, arugula on a baguettes . We also opted for a salad that came chock full of fruits and nuts with a poppy seed dressing. Both items were good and fresh. It's a small restaurant that is in a strip mall with tables in hall outside. The restaurant is simple but good. A nice spot to add to your beach rotation. All the food coming from the kitchen looked so good. Try and see for yourself !

Yelp
I had eaten at Yvette's some years ago and last year picked up lobster rolls to go. Lobster Rolls are filled with lobster meat and cost $25. Now the reason I took away a star mainly has to do with a Stone Harbor law that they are a 'no straw' town. I asked for iced tea in a to-go cup and instead was provided a heavy glass that I found difficult to sip from. If Stone Harbor doesn't allow straws then please offer an easy to sip from drinking cup. Now to the food. Frankly I feel it needs seasoning , and I generously salt and peppered a side of tasty potato salad. I found the lobster could also do with a good shake of Old Bay. Never the less it is a sweet place to eat some unique fare and there is some extra seating in the outer hallway area. Our server was efficient and friendly. The food was prepared quickly. The price point is in line with tourist local fare. Definately a place to grab a lovely bite of lunch.

Christie L.

Yelp
The food is phenomenal. The strawberry shrimp salad had the most incredible cheese, light dressing with protein and fruits. The lobster roll had the right amount of dressing (i don't like too much mayo so it was absolutely perfect for me). The unsweetened raspberry iced tea was out of this world. My mom and I were walking around and stumbled upon this great spot hidden away on 97th. The atmosphere is cozy and local, not a big show. This place feels like somebody's passion project come to life. The server was very attentive and informative, this will be a great tradition for years to come.

Yelp
What a hidden gem! This cute little French inspired restaurant is set back in an indoor walkway and it's incredible! The people were lovely and the sandwiches were fantastic to take to the beach. Don't leave without grabbing the number 12: French brie, organic spinach, tomatoes, pepperoncini peppers w/special dressing on grilled focaccia. Seriously you will not regret the focaccia! Either eat both halves and be full all day or share with a friend! :)

Yelp
They added breakfast this year. Excellent. We have been ordering French toast, omelette, bagel etc. omelette is not oily, very light but yummy. I like a lot. Attached is the French toast. Lunch of courses is always fantastic.

Yelp
Don't be put off that this is in a "mall" area of Stone Harbor. The cafe is charming. The servers were friendly, smiley - perfect. And the food was sooooo good. A fig, goat cheese and arugula sandwich on fresh French bread. So delightful. The truffle fries were delicious. Definitely would go again.

Roe R.

Yelp
The food was not good. The chicken breast I couldn't even cut it and it was so so chewy, terrible. The explanation of the meals sounded great but it was grossly misrepresented. You actually received half of what is explained and tasteless. Not a place I would go again!!!

Yelp
Best lunch restaurant in Stone Harbor. Nice menu with both salads and sandwiches. Service is generally good, but don't expect fast food speed. Prices are reasonable given the quality.

Yelp
Delicious lobster roll and the salads were fresh and large!!! Highly recommend this place for lunch

Irene N.

Yelp
Nice gourmet sandwich selection to take back to the beach. Friendly staff. Can call in your order in advance for quicker pick up.

Yelp
I am an extremely frequent Yvette's customer. I order for pickup about 1-2 times a week from May to the end of August for probably 7 years now. I've tried many of their sandwiches and love them. One of my favorites is the Reuben. However, today my Reuben looked much different than it has every other time. I'm not sure if it's different meat, or if it was cooked differently considering corned beef is usually red and not brown. I called to ask if there was anything changed recently and explained that my sandwich looked different in the past, but the owner was dismissive and said nothing has changed. I have attached side by side pictures of my sandwich from two weeks ago versus today. It still tastes good, but I was disappointed in the difference in the texture of the meat and the lack of responsiveness/care when we called.

Yelp
Delicious. Fresh Fig sandwich with added prosciutto - so good. My go to is the French Brie with pears & strawberries.

Yelp
Expectations were high because I had read all the positive reviews. I wasn't disappointed. Very sorry to say that I wish I had been coming here for years. It will now become a tradition. Kimberly was our server and simply a delight. She was attentive and knew the menu inside out. My son was torn between two sandwiches and she gave him some helpful advice. I ordered the #3 it was fresh figs, goat cheese, arugula, caramelized onions on french bread. It was so delicious. My mom ordered the Asian pear and strawberry sandwich w greens. She was very pleased w hers and I was equally pleased with mine. My sandwich was 12$ you can add chips, or coleslaw for 1$ up charge. They don't take lunch reservations but do take dinner reservations. They accept credit cards.

Yelp
Had a chicken salad and was super happy about it. It was super fresh and well seasoned. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Visited this place with a friend a few days ago for a later lunch. We went on a whim and were wowed by this cute little cafe. The menus are on two large colorful chalkboards (one at the entrance for takeout and the other in the dining area). The menu variety was wide and varied. The dining area is small and cozy with a large window and lots of natural light. Our server promptly handed us menus upon seating. We ordered shrimp salad on fresh focaccia and mozzarella, avocado, tomato drizzled with olive oil on a baguette. Each sandwich was accompanied by a small side salad with a delicious vinaigrette. All ingredients were fresh and the bread was delicious! The only negative was there could have been more shrimp salad and less lettuce. Our server was wonderful and service was very fast. Overall wonderful experience!

Yelp
Cozy atmosphere and setting. The food selections are very good and a reasonable price point. No problem with service at Yvett's .

Yelp
Great lunch spot. We got the lobster roll and shared tomato mozzarella salad. Both were delicious.

Yelp
This review is about the Yvette's Market Place across the hallway sharing the same name as the restaurant. We've never had such a bad coffee experience anywhere else and at an outrageous price. Ingredients, machine, and end result (taste) was awful. Price was out of this world. $12.50 USD for a latte with almond milk! The service was friendly! But the person had no idea about coffee. Never been this disappointed before. Yvette's restaurant itself has great food! But their name is smudged by the association with this marketplace next door.

Yelp
Yvettes makes the list of my top five favorite places to eat in the world. I am a huge sandwich fan and Yvette's makes the very best sandwiches out there. First of all, every single ingredient that they use is fresh. The bread tastes like it has been imported straight from France and the option of the grilled Focaccia bread is a winner, but then again so is the classic French bread- you can't go wrong. My favorites would have to be the #14 and the #12. I am also a huge fan of their soups and iced tea, which change daily. Service is 100% and everyone is super friendly. The small, charming eatery smells like a French bakery and there is truly no other place like it. Occasionally, they have scones for desert which are top notch, but they also have homemade chocolate chip cookies quite often which are amazing. You will not regret coming here and I can promise you that once you go, you definitely will be coming back! Can't say enough about this place!

Yelp
Always the freshest ingredients and the French bread is amazing. I love the chicken with Brie. I dream of this sandwich in the winter months. Take out has worked well here, bread is never soggy!

Stankica Ć.

Yelp
Very nice place for dinner! Food was delicious. The stake was soft, rare medium done -just the way I like! Service was also good! Prices are very reasonable!

Nik E.

Yelp
The best healthy lunch options around, love the wine menu especially the chicken salad and reuben and lobster rolls.

Eric N.

Yelp
Excellent food and good service. We ate here 3 times in 2 days. Highly recommend visiting if you're in Stone Harbor.

Yelp
I have been going to Avalon since I was a baby and have ventured over to Stone Harbor for many meals. However, I had no idea about this little gem until now! I was on Yelp looking for something different than my three go-to places and saw yvettes. It is located inside the Stone Harbor mall, I was a little confused. The place is small but cute and comfortable. We were seated immediately and enjoyed a wonderful lunch. Our waitress was a beautiful young lady named Mary. She was very attentive and kind. She recommended the special which was a chicken, honey, Brie, green apple, bacon sandwich. I am so glad I trusted Mary because that sandwich was DELICIOUS! My companion and I had a great experience and I can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic service and food! I had high expectations for Yvette's based on the stellar reviews. We were not disappointed. I ordered the #15 which was pears, strawberries, Brie, greens, and poppy seed dressing on French bread. The French bread was so fresh. I loved the combination of everything together. If you want chips or coleslaw it is $1 upcharge. I opted for the Maui onion chips, and they were delicious. I look forward to making this place part of my annual trip to Stone Harbor!

Katie B.

Yelp
10/10 sandwiches were so good and service was great! Takeout is super easy and quick too.

Yelp
This place was so so delicious!!! So glad we found this hidden treasure in Stone Harbor. It's tucked away and off the beaten path, but it deserves all the attention the more popular places in SH get! It's actually one of the best meals I've ever had in the Stone Harbor/Avalon area. I got the Ortiz Tuna sandwich, but since I don't eat meat/fish, I asked for no tuna. They were totally okay with this! The sandwich was so wonderful on such fresh French bread. All of my family's meals were delicious as well. We will absolutely be back!

Susan R.

Yelp
We enjoyed a lovely lunch at this cafe. There are several tasty specialty iced teas. The lobster roll was delicious with some large chunks of lobster on B a yummy bun. Friend loved her chicken salad sandwich with apples. Great casual menu.
google avatar

Victoria M.

Yelp
Very disappointing Got the fig sandwich with arugula, carmelized onions and goat cheese On a baguette... there was barely any goat cheese or fig more like arugula with onion Very disappointing especially for the price tag . I don't mind paying if it's worth it but what a disappointment . Seemed like $13 for a lettuce sandwich!
google avatar

Megan H.

Yelp
Just had the lobster rolls at Yvette's. What a disappointment! Those are not real lobster rolls. Minced up tiny pieces of cold lobster do not make yummy lobster rolls. Please prepare a proper roll- either cold lobster salad with mayo, squeeze of lemon juice, salt & pepper (Maine style) or hot with butter (CT style). Also properly toast the roll. The one upside was the polite staff.
google avatar

Leah S.

Yelp
I ate here for the first time a few years ago with a girlfriend who continues to talk about how great our meal was. Went back today for a takeout #21, essentially a tuna nicoise sandwich. I have no problem spending $11 on any sandwich here. They are certainly big enough to make into two meals, and just incredibly high quality. There were tomatoes on mine, and I actually ate most of them, which is crazy since I hate tomatoes. It was just too good to put down so I could take the tomatoes off! Flavors were spot on, vinaigrette light but very present, and every bite was perfect. If you're worried about service or time, opt for takeout, bring your meal home and eat on your private deck, with your own wonderful choice of beer. Le yum.
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant. The baguette they lovingly call "French," is shipped from France 3x a week in dough form for them to bake. The dishes are delicious - and thoughtfully made.
google avatar

Victoriya H.

Yelp
Small cafe with mostly sandwiches. There are some deserts, few salads and soup. We ordered crab and asparagus soup, Caesar salad and grilled chicken sandwich ( they have a few varieties). Focaccia or French bread...Food is fresh. They did run out of goat cheese so had to pass on my choice of sandwich with figs, arugula, goat cheese and caramelized onions.

William W.

Yelp
Love this place! Always delivers. Great service and the food is top notch. Fresh delicious and generous portions. Made the mistake of going to Quahogs for lobster rolls and the were chewy and mostly celery. Double the price of Yvettes as well. Won't make that mistake again.
google avatar

Rachel G.

Yelp
Super small fast paced place, but it's all worth it. Everything was delicious and the waitress was more than accommodating. We had the chicken salad (not too saucey and perfectly tasty), the California BLT (surprisingly came with a super yummy salad!), and the green apple and blue cheese salad where the blue cheese was subbed out for goat cheese. Also, the tea of the day was amazing!! (Unsweet mango tea) simple yet gourmet menu. A true gem.
google avatar

Kate F.

Yelp
Yvette's is the absolute best sandwich destination on the island! The ingredients used in the sandwiches are always so fresh, and the bread cannot be beat. Salads are on the menu as well, but I personally judge any person that would order a salad at such an extraordinary cafe. However, the prices are outrageous! Lunch for two will cost you $30 (I speak from experience), not including the tip. Because of this, Yvette's is a treat rather than an everyday kind of deal. The actual restaurant is very small, so I wouldn't recommend going with a large group and to possibly do take-out instead? I would recommend Yvette's to anyone who is willing to drop $15 on a FABULOUS sandwich!
google avatar

Kat M.

Yelp
Lovely sandwiches. Plum tea was pleasant! We're going to try the salads in our next trip!

Yelp
Excellent!! Food, service, everything! Has quickly become our favorite spot in town! And it's byo!

Yelp
Great place for lunch w the Favilla's in Stone Harbor:) I need to keep writing to post this review!

Carole S.

Yelp
Delicious food at this little cafe. Lots of interesting salads and sandwiches to choose from. Really nice menu. Everything was very tasty, and Yvette'sprobably deserves 5 stars, but the ambiance is a little lacking, hence the four star review. For quick bite in town while you're shopping, however it is perfect!

April B.

Yelp
First time here and it was amazing. Great spot, fresh ingredients, so simple but great. The service was awesome and can't wait to come back when I'm back in the area.

Tanya C.

Yelp
Yvette's never disappoints. I don't know where they get their bread from, but the French baguette is amazing! The grilled asparagus sandwich and Italian hoagie are our favorites. It can take 30-40 minutes for your order to be ready but it is totally worth the wait!!

Tom C.

Yelp
A must stop when in Stone Harbor Fresh delicious sandwich's Service was great Best shrimp salad in a long time
google avatar

Nick D.

Yelp
I had pretty high expectations going into Yvette's from people I know who have been there, paired with the amazing reviews. I ordered the Cajun roast beef with blue cheese, arugula, red onions, and horseradish mayo. The meat ratio wasn't the problem, the sandwich is packed big time. But you get too many bites of just meat and then a whole bite of just arugula. It wasn't a well put together sandwich. My main critique with this sandwich is that it is yelling for some sort of sauce. Yes it has this horseradish mayo, but it's not a lot and I was needing a nice sauce to kinda bath the roast beef. Maybe it was the sandwich, maybe it was the day, but I expected more from Yvette's.

Kim D.

Yelp
I made this place a must every summer & loved it, they had the best chicken salad. We just purchased the chicken salad sandwich, the price went up and was very disappointed, smaller portions and not as tasty, will not go there again which makes me sad because it was my favorite place Kim

Yelp
My new stop when in Stone Harbor, service was great and the food selection even better. I had a #12 and the focaccia bread on the sandwich was delicious. My nephew has food issues and doesn't like different foods touching each other, so when his sandwich came out with a strawberry touching his bread he wouldn't eat. The waitress quickly replaced his sandwich without any problems. Hands down the best sandwich shop I've been to in a long time. Dessert was good also.
