Z Burger (Dupont Circle)

Z-burger was so yummy! We stopped by after visiting the Smithsonian. Street parking was available. We were greeted with a smile. The burgers were made fresh and the hot dog. We opted for the half onion rings and fries and it did not disappoint! The food was filling and made with love and quality. Indoor seating is limited but we wanted fresh air and chose to dine outside and enjoy the view and breeze. We’ll be back for certain! Thank you Z-Burger!

Burger was very flavorful, meat itself barely covered the bun. The fries were disappointing, soggy and not flavorful. Staff were very polite and didn’t take very long to get food. Was affordable, cash tips only.

The picture is at almost the end...yes, the fry bag was full. Yes, I had a double hamburger. Yes, it was really great. Quick service, freshly made. Interesting note, the fries were not greasy, but yummy! Walked back to my hotel to eat and it was perfectly hot. Cute bag that made it convenient to carry.

Solid burger with good zesty sauce. The standard toppings come with mushrooms so check that if you need. Would like to see some more toppings. There is a large board of shakes but several are unavailable. The dinning room is small so plan on taking it with you

Definitely one of the best burgers I’ve had! If you like a good, juicy, messy burger, go here! The fries are great as well. Favorite part is the portions, they give you a good amount of fries. The seating area is very small though but other than that, great food.

For those who grew up in the 80s,they may remember the saying, " Where's the Beef?" That's how I felt when I opened my burger. I ordered my burger with everything but received a plain, barely beef sandwich. My wife's Philly was pretty good. Fries were okay, but I couldn't taste the seasonings that were supposed to be on them. Onionrings received a 2 out of 10. Over battered with no flavor. Staff 5 out of 10 Atmosphere 4 out of 10 Great potential

Good spot for a takeout burger. Got it in a lettuce wrap for fun and it was actually great. The sweet peppers were great also. The inside is a bit cramped for eating there so would recommend grabbing it to go and then eating at the circle if weather allows.

Whew talk about a great late night splurge! Burgers were awesome and bacon hot dog was even better. The banana foster concrete was one of the best shakes I've ever had. Fresh bananas in it too! Seating was limited but people move in and out pretty quickly. Skip the fries/onion rings. Not needed.

This place was great. We stayed at the hotel nearby and needed lunch when we arrived. The owners daughter was working the register and took our order. They have shakes, burgers and cheesesteaks. She said if she is there they have 100s of shake combos she can make. We said we were visiting for a quick weekend trip. We had 14 yo twin boys with us and wanted to know what was goof to do/go. After she helped the customers she came sat down with us and told us about several free things to do with the kids. Oh and the burgers were great too!

In search of Something Fast to Eat... We ventured into Z Burgers when we were in search of something fast and quick to eat. I've had Z Burgers before and it was good. I've never been to this location, the staff were friendly and the burger was freshly made. I enjoyed my sandwich, the fries and onion BUT this location was junkie, it was filled with clutter. It wasn't dirty so much as it needs a refresh, an update. Hope this business makes the much needed improvement.

A burger is a simple construction. If you're going to charge $10 for one, minimally it ought to taste nice, stand up as a sandwich, and fill you up. Z burger- at least at this place- failed. If you like your bun to soak up moisture and breakdown like a nice Ethiopian injera, you'll love this place. If you like your burger to be soaked in sweet ketchup and taste like lettuce that's a shadow of some crisp leaf, this place works out. If you want a modicum of mediocrity, you'll be disappointed.

i ordered z burger through doordash and i loved it! i was in town from southern california, looking for a quick bite and holy cow did this deliver! i got a burger and fries, with doordash fees it was a little pricey but it ended up being SO WORTH IT! i'm back in socal now but still think about z burger (':

Novice move - I forgot to take pics. At any rate, I had dinner here before seeing a comedy show at the DC Comedy Loft just a block or so away. Yelp told me not to eat at the loft and I heeded the warning. I thought we'd be rushed since we got a late start getting to the area, but service was super friendly and fast. It kinda reminded me of a Five Guys because you have to specify you want a single burger, otherwise you'll get two patties. This wasn't an issue since I got the turkey burger which only comes with one. You also get to choose from a plethora of toppings- and I got about 5, including banana peppers. The turkey burger was good enough - nothing special. I liked the soft bun a lot. I also got the onion rings. This was a HUGE serving from a huge onion, or two. The coating was sweet and tasty, which reminded me of almost a hushpuppy - but a really good one. The onion rings my fave thing, actually. I could have handled eating the entire bag but I checked myself. Haha. All in all, it's a decent place to get a burger. I'd try a beef one if I were in the area again. I'd also try the half fries and half onion rings as a side next time. That's great that it's a menu item. They also have so many shakes to choose from, if you're into that. *Seating is super limited. A table is in the middle which could probably accommodate 6 and there are 3 stools that look out toward the street.

Walked in at 6 PM on a quiet weeknight. It's small but cute and clean. The counter attendant barely acknowledged me, as he seemed to be manually entering a large order. Since there are LCD order screens on the customer side of the register, it wasn't clear to me whether I should enter my order myself or tell the man at the counter what I wanted. In relatively short order, he looked up from his entry and asked for my order. Prices are higher now than the last photos of the menu were posted, so I was a little disappointed, but was still happy with my chosen indulgence: onion rings. The staff seems to be busy with many online orders. And as they finished and handed me my order the attendant was friendly and accommodating. The onion rings are yummy, large, and crispy! Worth the price, but I wish I could have made a half-order.

I was going to have tacos for lunch, but the place was closed. I rarely eat burgers and fries when I travel, but if you zoom in on the photo of the front, you'll see a sign that says "Voted Best Burger". I wonder if the guy passed out on the outside dining table was able to cast his vote. Anyway, the burger was very good, and they have an amazing array of fresh toppings including my favorite... sauerkraut. The fries were fresh cut as well.

DO NOT COME HERE. The restaurant tainted our concrete with what appeared to be CIGARETTE ASH. I am not an over reactive or hyperbolic person--I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, especially in a situation where I am at a counter service establishment with narrow margins. I realize it might not be the best day ever for every employee I come in contact with and I truly don't care if you don't give me your cheeriest service. But we were at Z Burger tonight for dinner, and sat at the counter inside to eat. I am 9 months pregnant (ie noticeably pregnant). After dinner we went back to the register to order a peanut butter cup concrete. We received a peanut butter milkshake, which is different because it doesn't have peanut butter cups in it. Duh. Figured it was not a big deal, so we went to the counter to politely ask if some peanut butter cups could be added since that's what we ordered. The man at the register was persistently and adamantly rude to the point that it was pretty embarrassing. He began arguing with my husband and refused to fix the issue. We simply asked to receive what we ordered since we paid for it already and this was incorrect. Finally, he took it from us and we waited about 10 minutes for them to take it back and add PB cups. Thought that was kindof excessive since they weren't busy. We received a completely different concrete (different color) which seemed strange. It didn't look anything like they normally do though. It smelled a bit funny. I took a spoonful and gagged/spit it out because It tasted of chemicals. I asked my husband to taste in case it was just me, and he confirmed that he believed there was CIGARETTE ASH in the dessert! I am absolutely disgusted and appalled at the sociopathy behind this action. My God it's just some peanut butter cups! I am PREGNANT and these monsters answer to customer service could have harmed me. We will NEVER be back and I will be telling everybody I know to avoid this establishment at all costs.

I'm all for equal opportunity but maybe this job is a little too hard for the special needs old man at the register

Tried it for the first time today (1/30/23) and absolutely LOVED it. I have never had fries so perfectly seasoned and a milkshake so perfectly blended. I got the bacon philly cheesesteak and it was the size of my forearm! They were incredibly generous with the toppings and everything together was just perfection. To top it all off, the customer service was amazing and the food did not take long AT ALL. Z Burger easily became my favorite food spot after tonight. If you haven't tried it yet, you definitely should!

This is what you call a BURGER. I had gotten the cheeseburger loaded (with raw onions instead) - I would recommend light lettuce on the burger. As well get the seasoned fries! The wait time is about 10 minutes maybe a few minutes more. But overall I would highly recommend their burger.

I am visiting the DC area and needed to grab something to eat. They were one of the few places open. I bought a Philly Cheesesteak 8" sub at 12:20 am. By 2 am, I was violently ill and throwing up non-stop. I had to be rushed to GW hospital via ambulance. It was confirmed that I had food poisoning. After sharing the news with friends that live in the DC area, 5 ppl told me that they had gotten food poisoning from there as well. A horrific experience!

Everyone knows the best thing to do after a night of drinking and club hopping is to find an after hour spot that serves greasy delicious burgers. This was Z-burger. We arrived around 2:30 am and the place was packed with other patrons who needed a greasy delicious burger after a long night of not adulting. I got the bacon double cheese burger with an array of toppings and a small order of fries to share. I can't remember much about the fries except they were 'okay', but the burger was delicious! It was made fresh to order and full of flavor. I can't say they'll replace my love for 5 guys, but they did hit the spot and if I'm ever in the area again I'll definitely be back. Also, What I appreciated was that even though the place was packed we still got our food in a timely manner.

Tonight we truly had the worst experience with Z-Burger that we couldn't even make up if we wanted to. If I had the option to give this place zero stars then that would be my rating. We ordered our food with 'Mr Beast Burgers' through Uber Eats, which Z-Burger was the restaurant that was suppose to provide the food. To start, an order that was suppose to take 30 minutes took well over 1 1/2 hour. My Uber Eats driver waited and waited, and finally got so frustrated that he messaged me details about the fiasco, and ended up leaving. And then I had the pleasure of calling Z-Burger where I got hung up on 4 times before I finally got an employee on the phone. After 10 minutes of the employee trying to gaslight me as to why they weren't responsible, and in fact blamed the Uber driver saying he didn't show up. And yet, I could see the driver at the restaurant on my GPS and was communicating with him the whole time. In fact, I had to post the screenshot of my conversation with my driver because Uber Eats doesn't deserve to be blamed by an incompetent employee. Luckily for me another driver finally showed up to pick up my order, or so I thought. The Z-Burger employee assured me that the food was just cooked and the order would be correct. Wow was he lying to me, the order finally arrived at 10:15pm, and the order was totally wrong, missing items, and to top it off the food wasn't warm. This has to be the biggest fail I've experienced from a restaurant with a food delivery. Luckily Uber Eats saw that Z-Burger completely screwed things up and gave me my money back. That's why I will continue to use Uber Eats, but I will never ever ever order Mr. Beast Burger or Z- Burger from the location.

Honestly, I'm giving this place 4 stars only because I wish there was more room to spread out while ordering and waiting for your order. Their burgers are amazing, especially after a long day and night. They have many toppings that are free to add (but unfortunately as with all good things, guac is extra). The fries, the seasoned z fries, are so yummy and come with this tangy dipping sauce. The atmosphere is so fun. The employee who runs the cash register is so kind and put up with my inability to choose toppings. Cleanliness is good from what I noticed and all employees wear masks. But like I said, if you have a larger than like three group of friends, sitting down here is near impossible and unlikely, especially in keeping with COVID regulations. The food is great and if you're by yourself or grabbing to go this is a great option. But if you're looking for a place with friends, it's a bit of a squeeze. Hopefully as things open up and the weather improves, outdoor seating will be more of a move. But for now, it's a bit uncomfy if anyone else comes in to order at the same time you do.

Came here on a whim with my friend on a layover. Inside is decently sized, clean and the staff is very friendly. My friend got their fried chicken sandwich and fries. She loved the sandwich, didn't realize you could add toppings but she still enjoy it. I got the single cheese burger with their in-house "Z sauce", Jalapeños, and onions. I also got a side of their fries. The burger was delicious, I wish I got a double! The burgers are on a sesame bun and the patty is well seasoned. Overall, really enjoyed this place. The location is great to walk around in. If work sends me back and I have time, I will stop in for another burger but this time a double.

After an exhausting day and most of the Resturants being closed, Z-Z-Burger was recommended by the hotel Washington Plaza. I tried to accept that food was going to be cold and that I didn't have a way to warm it up AND that it was EXTREMELY LATE. However the Bacon Philly Steak was horrible! I think they forgot to season the meat for starters. I added mushrooms and peppers but they were not there.Does it look appealing to you?? Fries and Onion Rings might have been good but they were Stone Cold! In spite of the Peach Concrete melting, it was good I thought of it as a milk shake. Didn't taste the Peach however. I tried to call the restaurant but they never answered. I'll try again today.

Basic burger.. I prefer 5guys There wasn't anything fancy about this burger place. Maybe it's COVID but I wasn't overtly Impressed and probably won't return. The food wasn't bad so if you just need a bite it's good enough to eat. Enjoy

Every neighborhood and city needs its greasy burger spot, and local chain Z-Burger is it for Dupont! My needs are simple. I love getting my burger stacked with all the scrumptious toppings and washing it down with some fries and a shake. I don't really know what is in Z-sauce, assuming it's mayo mixed with other stuff, but it's good. And by the way, they have almost 100 flavors of shakes. I am partial to Oreo, but no matter your taste preference, there is a shake out there for you! The couple times I've been here during COVID they looked like they were practicing good sanitation, wearing masks, distancing, etc. It looks like you can sit out on their small patio. Since the Columbia Heights location closed (or maybe it's re-opening? I'm not sure), I'm glad this still exists for that greasy fix you sometimes just need in your life.

So, it was late at night and this place was one of the few that delivered and had a 4.7 stars on Uber Eats. My friend and I needed burgers, yes, we needed burgers. As soon as I started ordering I noticed the opportunity to order the burger with so many toppings in it. You could even add fried eggs, which I did to mine. I don't remember what my friend put on his but he was still skeptical. We also ordered a milkshake, I got the oreo one. When the food arrived, celebration started. These burgers don't play. They are DELICIOUS! My friend even told me how impressed he was by the quality. This place deserves more stars. The milkshake has little chunks of oreo which made the taste even better. I wish they had them in Miami.

I've been to this place five years ago when I visited the first time. Their food was great and the place felt so refreshing. Five years forward. They are under new management but everything else was untouched. Well, the place feels old and greasy and the food felt soggy. They were out of some of the fountain drinks. The fries were good. Not sure if I'll be back again.

Consistently awesome burgers, fries, and shakes. The fries are the best in the region and some of the best in the country (think Thrashers fries). The Tenleytown Z-Burger location has been a favorite staple for our family for more than a decade, and we go at least twice per month. Even better, Z-Burger must treat their staff well, because Joseph has been working the register there the entire time, and there has been almost no turnover of the rest of the team over the past decade. Where have you ever seen this in a retail business?? Even though they have a chain of restaurants, I consider this Tenley location to be a true "local" restaurant. Highly recommend!

Burgers were dripping with grease. Tasted worse then Arby's food on a good day. Got the fries z style, I'm guessing z style means soggy and tasteless.

I was in DC for a conference and heard some good things about Z-Burger and was happy I tried it. It was just around the corner from my hotel and I ordered a hot dog, burger, french fries and a Ice Tea. The burgers and dogs are made to order and the toppings on both were tasty. The fries were disappointing since the bag was full of grease that seeped through before I got back to my room. This location had outdoor seating and it's relatively clean and inviting. Not in the mood for a big meal, Z-Burger hit the spot. Recommend!

I went there just once so, It's hard to say everything about their food and service. But what I've got was good and fast though. Friendly staff. Ample seating. Good meal options. Inexpensive and quick if you need some fast sustenance.

I've never been to see burger before and it's close by so I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered a grilled cheese and instead of bread they just turned a bun over and use that for the bread. Not the worst but not what I expected or wanted. I ordered a hotdog and you can tell by the photo that the hotdog is very old and just cremated. I'm not sure why the cook would think it's acceptable to serve that to anyone except for a dog. Will I be going back to give it another chance No. Will I recommend them to anyone NO. Oh the price was right but the quality is definitely wrong!

This is my second time going to DC and my friend took me to Z burger. I was immediately greeted by a gentleman named Eli and I order the bacon cheeseburger with everything on it with fries and a drink. The music is really good as well! Definitely one of the best burgers money can buy. .

You can't call in an order. They tell you to use grubhub. So automatically they're giving away money. Ordered two cheese steaks and two orders of onion rings. So between tax, service charge and tip. It was over $50. Prompt delivery. Open the order and no onion rings. Two orders of French fries instead. When I called they said they were out of onion rings, sorry. Could they have called to let me know. I was charged the price of the two onions rings at 7.29 each and not the fry price. We don't enjoy their fries and trashed. I'll use grubhub again but never z burger. And I live across the street. For deli ery next time, it'll be George's King of Falafel for cheesesteak

Stood in front of the counter for 5 mins with no assistance. Someone finally comes to the counter with no sense or urgency to take my order. I finally had to ask if someone was going to help me, to which I was asked if I had ordered yet. Another minute goes by and still nothing. I finally just walked out. There was absolutely no line, no crowd, and no excuse for to have been waiting over 5 minutes to order.

This place is what 5-guys, shake shack, and smash burger are trying to be. Just a really really good greasy American burger, cooked to perfection, with fresh and flavorful toppings. Also a huge variety of shake/concrete flavors! They also do cheesesteaks that are really good. The prices are so reasonable and the staff is great. No frills place with great burgers and huge portions of fries? Gets a big heck yeah from me.

So once a year I choose to eat a burger. Today was the day! Lol. I don't have much to say about the inside except that it's small. Now, either I was really hungry or this was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time(since last year). Anyway, everything was fresh. The bun was soft and the burger was juicy(like me). They aren't stingy with their fries either. I tried not to eat them all only because I would feel miserable afterwards. I probably won't eat anything for the rest of the day though. You gotta have #balance lls.

Although the customer service isn't so great and the veggie burger I ordered was the same. Well it wasn't that bad but the texture taste like fine grains of sand. I think what helped it taste better was the spicy sauce I put on the burger. It wasn't worth the 7ish bucks I spent. For the people who works here, you need to greet your customers and fix your damn clothes. Make yourself look proud to have a job.

Weird tasting meaty veggie burger that reminds me of a 1990s style boca burger that was freezer burned. Avoid unless absolutely necessary.

The store gave a priority to the customer behind /next to me because the customer said keep the change. The customer were laughing with his friend. My goodness so unfair because I was in a hurry. Never again.

I'm editing my review because I have zero tolerance for some of these reviewers. If you order Uber Eats, you cannot complain about anything except about Uber Eats. I thought that was common sense. But apparently not. And to the guy complaining about not being able to call in an order... read the other reviews. This is a hole in the wall. Do your research! Came to this place. Was dead!!. Next to a very poppin bar for St. Pattys. Came in... placed my order. Got it, came home... I cannot believe that Z Burger near me in Arlington was replaced by All About Bur... whatever... bring your business back to Arlington! I will personally be your business. These burgers are juicy as hell. The Z Seasoning and Z sauce... there's nothing like it. The other guys are booty compared to Z Burger. The Onion rings are soooooo good. And don't get me started on their concretes. Boyyyy...... anyways.... Y'all need to get your butts to Z Burger if you want a damn good burger.

Spicy chicken was great. No fountain soda machine kinda sucks. Fries are good too. Only had a burger once and it was smaller than I expected and the roll was big.

I ordered in a pick up app and I was told my food was ready at 610PM. The workers at the restaurant not only did not attempt to assist me in any way, but they also decided that since I spoke up I needed to wait for ALL of the other customers in the restaurant were served l, including all of the customers who ordered after I did. As of the writing of this review, it is now 640PM on 6/5/2022 and I still have not received the burger I ordered at 6pm. I'd rate it zero stars if I could.

Super yummy veggie burger! I would give it 5 stars but it came undone too easily. Other than that the fries were also delicious!! Very fast and friendly service- tight space more of a hole in the wall type eatery.

I visited recently on the evening of 3/6/22. I witnessed the cook drop a spatula on the floor, pick it up and place it back on the griddle. I threatened to contact the Health Department and he told me that my food was already done so it wouldn't be used?!? I've contacted the Health Department. Don't risk your health by eating here. The cook is incompetent.

I'm only giving one star because I have to. I'm literally sitting in my car outside of the location writing this review. I was craving what was supposed to be a 5 oz Turkey burger. It was cold and very much processed and definitely not 5 oz. I put in the comment section to add provolone cheese being that was what I was instructed to do when I called because there was not an option for that. Of course there was no cheese on the extremely salted unappetizing burger. I went back inside to request the cheese and both employees stated that was not a request. She looked up my order and her only response was "oh". No apology but a half slice of cheese was issued at least. I tried eating the $10 burger but it's too salty from the salt and z seasoning. My first time trying this place which is also my last. Money wasted because the food is in the trash outside of the establishment. I'm currently on my way to find a decent sandwich.
