20 Essential Thai Restaurants in Houston

"Don’t let this Katy strip mall location fool you. Inside you’ll find a casual but elegant eatery that serves visually beautiful and mouth-watering Thai dishes. Choose between three versions of som tam (papaya salad), including the more pungent Thai Country that replaces the lime juice and dried shrimp with Thai fish sauce and pickled crab. The fried whole tilapia — served standing on the plate — is a show-stopper." - Brittany Britto Garley

We had a fantastic meal at this Thai restaurant! The flavors were authentic, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The Thai papaya salad was the perfect balance of tangy, spicy, and refreshing crunch. The phat kaphrao (Thai basil stir-fry) was packed with bold, savory flavors, and the fragrant basil added a wonderful aroma. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. If you’re looking for an authentic Thai dining experience, this place is definitely worth a visit! Highly recommend!

The ambiance was the perfect complement to the food and service. With its cozy, inviting atmosphere and beautiful Thai-inspired décor, the restaurant provided a relaxing environment to enjoy our meal. Food is delicious, Worth the price. And the service is great!!! Also, make sure to leave some space for dessert. Mango ice cream tastes ❤️

Google
Great food, good service, beautiful and clean place. This is now my new favorite place to go to for Thai cuisine. Everything is yummy especially the Red snapper garden and cashew nut chicken. The sticky rice with mango ice cream is to die for. All the staff are very nice and attentive.Definitely 5 stars ❤️

Google
Food is ok. The fried tilapia needs some improvement. It's crispy but there are alot of bones that you cant eat them. The Mango sticky rice needs some improvememt as well, the mango is not that sweet. Customer service is ok, but you forget to ask if we need more water and the shop wasnt that busy. Price is decent.

I got referred by a friend and it actually amazed me! There’s nothing to complain about. Food, service, the ambiance and especially the food presentation …they aced everything. Their style is very unique , very Thai authentic. We ordered papaya salad ( balanced flavor of sour, savory, and sweet 5/5), drunken noodles (bold, super tasty 5/5), and the crab fried rice (real crab meat, remind me of best dish of Thai Gourmet 5/5). Not of a friend of the coconut dessert bc of its dry coconut crumble and the smell from the coconut can but it’s ok (4/5). Will def come back even it takes me 30mins driving.

Google
This was a truly delightful dining experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly. The ambiance is lovely, with a cozy and authentic Thai decor. We started with the Tom Yum soup and Papaya salad, which were absolutely fantastic. The flavors were perfectly balanced and the presentation was stunning. I recommend the soup with both chicken and shrimp, it will cost extra but it's amazing. For our main courses, we ordered the Basil Fried Rice, Drunken Noodle, Pad Thai and Red Curry with chicken. All the dishes were incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection. The Basil Fried rice is particularly memorable with its unique blend of spices. This has become a constant for our repeated visits. The service is impeccable. Our server (Sam and the group) is always (every visit) attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They are able to make excellent recommendations and ensures we had everything we needed throughout our meal. It was clear that the owner's passion for authentic Thai cuisine shone through in every dish. We learned that the owner moved from Los Angeles to Houston to bring a taste of authentic Thai food to the city, and it certainly shows! Overall, we had a fantastic dining experience. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is charming. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic and enjoyable Thai dining experience.

Beautifully presented dishes. The wrapped egg noodles and curry were delicious, with the Panang curry standing out as especially flavorful. Just the Grilled Squid a little bit chewy

Google
Great Thai food with lots of options to try from. Loved the unique grilled squid the most. The pad Thai and green curries were great too. If you can't handle the heat definitely ask for mild.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place, but then again maybe I want to gate keep this place. After Thai Gourmet closed down, there was a big gaping hole in my heart that I thought I'd never be able to fill. I tried so many Thai places looking for a Thai yellow curry with chicken that's comparable- and just could not find it anywhere. A friend mentioned this place, and well, I live in the Heights so this is a trek for me. I will travel for yellow curry though, so trek it I did! I'm so glad I did. This place has now become one of my go-to's and has been added to my rotation. I go pretty often, and I dread the drive everytime until I get a taste of their food. It's also where I take my out of town visitors- it's that good. Located within a strip mall, but it's got a cute ambience, with low key music, and wallpaper that pretties the place up. My regular order includes their Thai tea, cheese rolls, yellow curry with chicken, pad Thai (wrapped in an omelet- so cool!) and their fried rice. Alllllll of it is so good. Oh whoops and my husband loves their beef drunken noodles. The servers are all super friendly and always helpful with suggestions. I couldn't recommend this place enough. But also don't go so much that I can't get a table please!

Yelp
We were treated to lunch here with high expectations for great Thai food. This spot now reigns supreme!!! What a great spot and great food nestled in a strip center in Katy. All the food tasted great and with super friendly staff. The crab fried rice has the proper wok breath and came out piping hot. The curry was really spot on with a balanced seasoning paired with great rice. Fish cakes had lime leaves seasoned in them which took it to the next level. I'm sure we will be back for more here during our visits to Katy.

Yelp
Friendly service from the owner/manager to the waiters. Interior is spectacular - perfectly blend of Thai culture but on the upscale side. Casual dress-wear. Perfect for families, parties, or a date. Thai iced tea - perfectly made. Not too sweet and you can still taste the tea. 5/5. BBQ Pork - it was okay for me. 3/5. Tom Yum Soup - with soft tofu was perfect. It's how Tom yum soup should be. So hard to find that in the Houston and Houston-metro area. I highly recommend! And they did not skimped out on their proteins. For once, it's not just 1-2 pieces of proteins. 5/5. Pad Thai Wrapped Eggs - with chicken was a nice upscale take to pad Thai that I'm used to. Tasted good and we actually finished the whole dish. It's on the less seasoned side but I still enjoyed it. 4/5. Prices are reasonable and would come back if I'm in the area. Servers are friendly and even though he knew there's no tree-nuts, he assured us he would double check with the chefs. That gives me confidence for a food business for anyone with food allergies to eat here. Presentations are top-notched. It's upscale but still giving that Thai-cultured vibe.

Yelp
Came here for lunch the moment they opened, so we were the only customers in the entire restaurant. This is a beautifully decorated traditional Thai restaurant. High chandeliers with traditional Thai headwear donning the walls and ceilings. Intricate wall designs and plates with gold plated silverware. The service and staff were attentive and nice. We got the fish cakes (5) to start which was a smaller portion than we anticipated but the flavor was great, as was the cucumber sauce. And then we shared 3 entrees, jumbo crab meat fried rice, beef drunken noodles, and chicken pad Thai. Fish cakes 4/5 Crab fried rice 5/5 - huge pieces of crab meat mixed with eggs topping the pile of fried rice. Excellent seasoning and very good portion. Drunken noodles 5/5 - mild spicy (this already had a kick to it), beef was well cooked. Pad Thai 5/5 - came cooked inside an egg omelette with side of bean sprouts and chopped peanuts. Lightly sweet. Entree portions were plentiful so we took a lot of food home for lunch during the week. The garnishing was pretty with parsley, shredded carrots and a real flower. We will certainly be back at some point!

Yelp
KATY, TX 77494 / THAI / 01-21-24 / TAKEOUT LUNCH +Great customer service! Each staff member hustles and tries to deliver a delightful customer experience. +Consistent execution of dishes; i.e., pad thai +Pricing is reasonable and entree portions are pretty much Texas-sized. Check out the size of the to-go containers! +The restaurant decor is nice and the place is cozy. -Many of the dishes seem pretty westernized in flavor; little to no fish sauce in many of the dishes that usually call for it. -The pad thai was mushy by the time I got home with our takeout order. -They don't offer the tray of spices (green chili peppers in vinegar, red chili peppers in fish sauce, and chili powder) that other authentic Thai restaurants usually have as condiments; i.e., Thai Garden (Galleria area) -Limited menu for a Thai restaurant in my opinion. Where is the kao mun gai or ka prow? This joint does not elevate itself to the levels of Kin Dee (Heights), Street to Kitchen (EaDo), or Four Region Thai (Spring, TX) but is good for a Katy neighborhood restaurant serving Thai cuisine. If you can't make the long drive to some of the great authentic Thai spots Space City has to offer, go check Zaab Station out and give them some Yelp/Google love!

Yelp
Zaab Station isn't just about amazing Thai food--it's a whole experience. The warm, golden interior with intricate wood carvings, traditional statues, and a beautiful gong makes you feel like you've stepped into Thailand. The food presentation is just as stunning, with vibrant garnishes and fresh flowers that make every dish look as good as it tastes. Whether you're digging into crispy fish, flavorful satay skewers, or a rich, fragrant curry, every plate is a feast for the eyes and the taste buds. I would to mention their homemade "hoy jaw", which is an appetizer made of succulent crabmeat and seasoned pork. A must order item! It's the kind of place where you'll want to take pictures before you take a bite! Excellent and friendly service too, with the owners having more than 15 years cooking their delicious Thai food.

Yelp
Great service to go with delicious food! The papaya salad is amazing The Drunken noodles are great Even the chicken wings were crunchy on the outside and soft inside

Yelp
A little restaurant tucked away in Katy serving classic comfort Thai dishes. I came with a group of fifteen so we got the chance to try a variety of dishes. There was fried rice, noodles, curry, appetizers, and fancy fruit drinks! Pad thai: such a classic dish served in a unique way. For this dish, instead of mixing the eggs right into the noodles, the egg was wrapped around the bed of noodles like a warm blanket. The presentation made this dish stand out. Noodles were bouncy, chicken was juicy, and eggs were not overdone. However, I found the dish to be just a bit too sweet for my tastes. Tom yum: this dish tasted sour, sweet, and a little tangy. Perfect when paired with a steaming bowl of rice. Chicken and basil fried rice: chicken was juicy and the rice was very flavorful. Perfect dish for kids or those who aren't too adventurous and just starting out with Thai good. Pineapple fried rice: this dish had raisins in there. Not sure I loved the combo of raisins, pineapple, and chicken. Crab fried rice: definitely the stand out for me. Topped with a generous portion of crab meat, this fried rice was moist and packed with flavor.

Yelp
Excellent and authentic Thai food, soups and curries are well made and spice levels are as described!

Yelp
This Thai restaurant has got to be one of the best places I've had. Their Thai coffee/tea wasn't super sweet and tasted amazing! I ordered the money bags which had the perfect crisp to it. I love their red curry (ask for extra rice or fried rice) . I got medium spice to it and it was the perfect combination. Chicken pad thai tasted great and portion was HUGE! They gave a lot of meat and the owner checked up on our table many times to make sure if we needed anything else. I'll definitely be coming back here
google avatar

Ricky M.

Yelp
Super friendly service, amazing food and portions with a beautiful Thai-themed ambiance. Definitely a "I know a spot" typa place. Will come back when in the area!!!!!

Yelp
Very good lunch specials comes with soup salad and spring roll , lunch specials are Monday to Friday

Yelp
I've been coming here off and on for a couple years now and it's never disappointed. The food, service, and cleanliness are always great. I usually go with a stir-fried dish like cashew chicken or Thai basil with ground pork (which are both really good), and if you like it spicy they can make you sweat. Today they offered a free app of the Thai flower dumpling and it was delicious! All in all this place is a safe bet.
google avatar

Imran Q.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. It was our first time here this week. They definitely did not disappoint. We ordered three entrées and all were amazing. The zaab chicken dish was amazing. So was the basil fried rice as well as the drunken noodles. We can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Mary P.

Yelp
Food is amazing. We ordered the Tom yum soup, fish cakes, papaya salad, pad Thai, drunken noodles and fried rice. It took a while for the food to come out. But when it started coming out, everything was delicious. Portions are kind of small though. And nobody really came by to check on us. They just came with the food and set it down. Didn't ask if we needed anything. They were good at refilling our waters though.

Bhavana N.

Yelp
The ambiance and service are great. Their service is quick. I loved the tom yum soup. Food can be improved. Ginger fried rice was so bland when we ordered with spice level 4. Drunken noodles had more chicken than noodles. Tom yum soup - 4.5/5 Drunken noodles - 3/5 Golden dumpling - 2.5/5 Ginger fried rice - 2/5
google avatar

Yelp
Great food and ambiance and the service was fast and consistent. Great halal Thai food option and definitely going to come back, well worth the commute.
google avatar

Angela A.

Yelp
Food was great! Service was fast, friendly, and the environment was really nice. Close to closing time so we ate really fast. This place looks authentic, plates and stuff were uniquely very Thai looking making it feel wow they put a lot of thought into this restaurant.
google avatar

Von C.

Yelp
Stopped in for our favorite grilled squid with sticky rice and papaya salad. Everything was wonderful delicious.
google avatar

Jean C.

Yelp
If you are looking for authentic Thai food, Zaab Station is the place to go. You can choose your own spicy level, which is awesome. Great food, good service, highly recommended!
google avatar

Thomas N.

Yelp
Not bad but not phenomenal. My favorite was the papaya salad. Sauce was good enough on the salad that I put it over my rice. Had tiger cry steak, but the steak still had sinews that were hard to chew in the middle. The pork skewers were decent, and the chicken ones were dry.
google avatar

Ashish G.

Yelp
Delicious food, nice ambience and great presentation of the dishes! There is a beautiful flower (not edible ) that comes with most dishes! My only concern is that the food gets cold very quickly because they serve most dishes in large flat plates/trays!
google avatar

Amy B.

Yelp
This place is super underrated! I'm so glad I decided to give it a try. Their smoothies are super fresh and 10/10 will definitely come back for more! They use fresh fruit and typically I wouldn't spend this much for a smoothie but well worth it, in my opinion! The fish may look a bit daunting like it was just picked up straight from the ocean, but the sauce it comes with pairs so nicely with it. They also give you a free side of rice with it. The beef pad see ew was okay, not my favorite and a bit too much pepper. I love the decor and ambiance. The service was decent as well, but the food and drink are definitely the highlight of this place.

Yelp
Excellent service ! Our waiter is super nice. He always make sure that everything was good. The food is out standing , I also love the decoration! One of the best Thai restaurant I ever tried. We got a lot of dishes with affordable prices. Can't wait to come back !

Yelp
What a hidden gem! My family and I came here yesterday to try a new restaurant, and we sure are glad we decided to try Zaab Station! Outside of the restaurant is plain, but once you step in, it is quaint and beautiful. We were promptly greeted by one of the waitresses and seated in one of their booths. We decided to order the grilled squid, pad thai, mussuman curry, and fish with triple chili sauce. For dessert, we went with the coconut and rice balls (similar to a Filipino dessert). Here are my personal railings: Grilled squid: 8/10 Pad Thai: 9/10 Mussuman: 9/10 Fish: 10/10 Coconut dessert: 10/10 Overall, this new Thai place exceeded my expectations. Food was excellent, and our waitress was kind and accommodating! I would return here again. Please, Katy, don't sleep on this gem!

Samreen J.

Yelp
I just got pad thai to go and im so sorry to say I'm utterly disgusted! It smells and tastes gross. When i tried to call the restaurant before it closes they have their phones turned off 15 minutes prior. Im sorry as it their service sucked when we had tried to dine in and after we sat we were told the chef is overwhelmed and would take longer than 45 minutes to bring the food out but this pad thai killed it for us. Never again. Edit: Id like to add that I finally got through to their phone line and a gentleman was gracious enough to redo the pad thai and bring it to my door. Id also add that it had the same smell and taste as prior so maybe its just their recipe... I ended up returning both pad thai boxes. Usually if a customer is not happy with a dish the first time you would have a better chance of regaining them by allowing them to order something else from your menu and in this case the gentleman said no he would only redo the pad thai so right there 2/2 is a fail. Maybe for someone else it suits their taste but we shall pass on this one. Good luck!
google avatar

Jen H.

Yelp
Very well decorated remind me of Thailand. The food was good and decent portion with great presentation. I'll def be back to try other dishes Papaya salad 4/5 Red curry 4/5 I wish it was more coconut taste vs sweet taste Pad Thai 4/5

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Love Zaab!, We have eaten there at least 5 times. The food is great! They have really elegant and exotic decor. If you order tea, they bring you a gorgeous colorful teapot. They garnish the food with flowers! Very nice staff, very good service! I am getting hungry just thinking about it! Overall we really like it!

Miguel A.

Yelp
Used to be our favorite restaurant in Katy. Last two occasions having a dinner , the food was frozen and no flavor, the steam was cold, the waitress was bad dressed showed signs of lack of higiene. something is happening in this restaurant that is going downhill . We are not going to visit again this place. What a pity.
google avatar

Jessie Z.

Yelp
Great little find. Beautiful interior, beautiful dishes, beautiful food. The papaya salad was scrumptious, so flavorful. The grilled squid appetizer was tasty, but a little chewy. My family really enjoyed the noodle dishes: drunken noodles and pad see ewe. I had the Tom kha soup which had excellent flavor. I tend like a few more veg in my Tom kha for some variety; the large bowl of mostly meat with mushrooms and delicious broth would have gotten tiring if I didn't have other things to munch on. Overall, we will most definitely return.
google avatar

Prithi D.

Yelp
Cannot beat this lunch special for $8.95!! Several things to choose from. This is the Curry Special - Chicken red curry, rice, soup of the day, eggroll and salad. Made two meals for me.
google avatar

Yelp
Zaab Station with my bestie after getting our nails done at Deluxe Nails and Spa Stableside and what a winner!! The space is gorgeous, the food beautifully prepared and exquisitely presented. service was friendly and top notch without being over-bearing. Definitely a must try!

Kayla R.

Yelp
Very clean, amazing customer service, beautiful presentation and very cute decor. The food & presentation here is phenomenal. This is one of those places even though your full you can't stop ordering, I mean the food is AMAZING! Definitely a gem of a restaurant. 10/10 recommend for a first date, it's not busy either.
google avatar

Kate S.

Yelp
We've been trying to find a good, solid Thai place since we moved to Richmond and this is the best yet. The decor is very on brand and the space was clean. After reading reviews from fellow yelpers, we had to try the uniquely prepared pad Thai and also had the massaman curry (chicken) and drunken noodle (pork) - both level 4/5 heat. The portions were generous and the flavors were wonderful - especially the drunken noodle - it was fantastic! The pad Thai was sweeter than we would like, so probably wouldn't get again, but liked the egg blanket set up. The service was attentive and friendly. We will 100% be back - we want to try the crab rice!

Crystal V.

Yelp
First time customer and will return! My family ordered different items to try. Crab fried rice, chicken pad Thai, golden triangles, grilled BBQ pork and wings. Everything was fantastic! We arrived right before the dinner crowd, the place got packed quick. Service didn't slow down, food came out quick and hot!

Annie S.

Yelp
Food was delicious and very well presented. We went on Saturday night, it was busy. Only 1 server therefore it was slow cos he was taking orders by phone & waiting tables but don't get me wrong his services was good but should have hired at least 2 server for a busy weekend. Don't go there hurry cos it takes awhile for food to come out. We enjoyed most of the food we ordered. The fried snapper wasn't fresh or crunchy. My favorite is the crab dumplings, fish cakes, fried chicken wings & grilled Squid. I'm a big fan of theor boat noodle soup from their other restaurant but this time is was sweet. Overall it was good, we might go there again.

Dahlia H.

Yelp
We had a birthday celebration here and I asked them set up the table. When we arrived, we found the table set up beautifully with flowers. Zaab station has most exceptional thai food in the Katy area. My family loves to eat here when we're craving thai!
google avatar

Ree C.

Yelp
I'll give this a 5 star! Ambience, design makes me feel like I'm in Thailand. Food is soo good (if you like Thai food). Thai food is an acquired taste. If you love spicy and Asian herbs then this will satisfy your food preferences. The service is good too! This business deserve to expand! We need a decent Thai restaurant around Katy. Once you get into Thai food, you'll always go back to it. Give it a try and have a taste of different cuisine!
google avatar

Zola R.

Yelp
OMGEEEEEE. My only regret is not realizing this gem has existed for 2 years. This Thai food is what you find in the dictionary when you look up delicious. The flavor was the perfect combination of savory, spicy with hints of sweetness. The server was gracious, accommodating and attentive. I ordered the crab rice, tom yum creamy soup, and basil Thai fried rice. The portions are large-be prepared to take home delicious leftovers! The ambiance was relaxing, just what I needed before heading into the madness of Christmas shopping. I'll definitely return for date night.
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
The Thai food is authentic and very delicious and flavorful. The curry here is the best I have eaten, and the spice is just perfectly done! The mango sticky rice and sesame rice ball are really yummy as well. The service is fast and the waiters are nice. Also, the interior design is beautiful with shimmering gold walls, chandelier, and Thai imagery. Overall, I would recommend it to anyone to try Zaab Station's food.
google avatar

Anne Marie O.

Yelp
The decor, plating and staff are Thai. That is always a good indicator of authenticity. The place was clean as were the bathrooms. (I always check) We were the only ones there so service was quick. Our apps came in about 7 minutes, were hot and tasted great. My husband and I ordered tea which arrived hot and served in the cutest pots. Next time we go, I will consider ordering family style as the portions and plates are rather large and can get pricey. Adding this place to our list.
google avatar

Ngan N.

Yelp
One of the best Thai restaurants I've been to! Great flavor, big portions and customer service is beyond. I highly recommend giving a place a try!
google avatar

Baby A.

Yelp
I went to this Thai restaurant for the second time cause I love their boat noodles soup. They gave me a special drink; it was so fresh, and I liked it. Thank you so much for the drink, delicious food, and excellent service. See you next time!
google avatar

Yingyi P.

Yelp
My husband and I decided to try this place and we both were very satisfied. We ordered Grill Whole Squid, Drunken Noodle and Red Curry Beef, all taste delicious and authentic. We will definitely go back and try other popular dishes like Pad Thai, papaya salad, crab fired rice etc. The design of restaurant, their plates and bowls are also very unique and cute.

Da D.

Yelp
Nice decoration inside! Foods aren't that good as I expected, been waiting an hour for foods to come out. This place needs more hires if you wanted to keep your business running. There was only one poor waiter run around all by himself.
google avatar

Kathryn N.

Yelp
Drove almost an hour to eat here twice our first time was an amazing experience, they wasn't very busy and the waiter we had was so awesome! Came back the second time and it they took 15min just to seat us because it takes them at least 15min just to ring someone up. It wasn't even busy, there were 3 tables, one was waiting 30min just to get Togo boxes and leave. I heard the old waiter quit n that was their major lost. He was really good at what he does. The new waiter didn't bring us water, napkins, or anything we asked for. Took them very very long to do everything and we had to ask for everything at least 2-3 times before getting it. The beef salad from the first time was so amazing, it was medium cooked and sliced thinly. But the second visit, they overcooked the meat to the point it was hard and they cut it into big strips which made it even harder to eat. The sauce is great though. I come here for their steam squid, the sauce is amazing, they actually forgot to give us the sauce during our second visit, we had to ask for them to light the wax up to heat the squid and waited pretty long for the sauce. If we have never had that dish before, we wouldn't even know it came with the amazing sauce, and it would tasted plain n nasty without the sauce. I also love the red curry, and they never lighted our curry pot either, but I was ok with curry not being heated. beef salad, tom kha, orange chicken was also very good.

Yelp
Food was alright nothing that will blow your mind service was terrible took an hour to get my food while I see other people that got there after get all there food before me
google avatar

Natosha D.

Yelp
Searching for good Thai is hard in Houston and today I found one with good flavor. I'll go back to try different dishes. I had Spicy woonsen and Panang curry.

Yelp
3 people for us last night. We stood to be seated for about 5 min. No one was checking on the door. Hostess/server was curt and borderline rude. We watched another couple wait to be seated and after the interaction with the hostess they left. It also took 20 min just to get out r 3 waters. I ordered orange chicken and it came out 10 min before the rest of our plates. None of these things would be a deal breaker alone but all together it just made for a bad experience. Food was good however definitely above average.
