I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, my first experience was disappointing. I ordered through DoorDash after seeing good Google reviews, but I now suspect many reviewers may not have had authentic Lao/Thai food. As an Asian woman who grew up with these flavors, this just didn’t pass my test.
Khao Poon:
At first glance, it looked delicious, and the aroma reminded me of home. Sadly, the taste did not match the presentation. The broth was overly oily, there were barely any noodles, and the chicken was extremely dry. I ended up throwing it away. If you want truly good Khao Poon, I recommend Asiannights Lao-Thai Cuisine & Bar instead.
ZAAP Combo Set:
This came with Dancing Garlic Riblets, Sticky Rice, and Thai-style Papaya Salad (sweeter with peanuts, spice level 3). The riblets were dry and overcooked. The papaya salad was just okay—basic and lacking depth. The portion of sticky rice was so small it didn’t match the rest of the food; they really should serve more to balance the meal.
Drinks:
The only thing I genuinely enjoyed was the young coconut juice—it was fresh and delicious.
Overall:
I usually stick to Asiannights Lao-Thai Cuisine & Bar, but I decided to try something new. Unfortunately, I instantly regretted it. Maybe they were having an off day, but $45 later, I can’t say it was worth the money.
