Rock City Za Brings Detroit-Style Pizza to DFW | Eater Dallas

"A Laotian and Thai street-food restaurant opening a Fort Worth WestBend location this November as its fourth in the DFW area. The menu emphasizes Southeast Asian street flavors with items such as pineapple fried rice, tom kha soup, nam khao and pad thai." - Brittanie Shey

This was our first time visiting, and we stumbled upon this spot randomly while in the area. Right away, we loved the vibe around the building—it’s nestled near Trinity Park with other cute shops and places to walk around, which made the whole experience feel laid-back and enjoyable. Inside, the restaurant is clean and well-kept, but seating is very limited. It definitely feels more tailored for singles or people grabbing takeout rather than dining in with a group. Now, the food—so good! I absolutely loved their curry—it was flavorful, rich, and comforting. My family enjoyed everything else we ordered, and there were no complaints, just happy plates. We liked it so much we ended up ordering more for takeout to enjoy again for dinner! All in all, a great little spot with delicious food and a nice atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

Delicious food! My favorite was honestly the beef jerky, which I wasn’t expecting to be so incredible! We had the pad Thai with shrimp, crab cream cheese egg roles, beef jerky and chicken wings and everything was amazing! Will definitely be back :) it’s a small location so we ate outside but the area is so nice that it was still great!

I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, my first experience was disappointing. I ordered through DoorDash after seeing good Google reviews, but I now suspect many reviewers may not have had authentic Lao/Thai food. As an Asian woman who grew up with these flavors, this just didn’t pass my test. Khao Poon: At first glance, it looked delicious, and the aroma reminded me of home. Sadly, the taste did not match the presentation. The broth was overly oily, there were barely any noodles, and the chicken was extremely dry. I ended up throwing it away. If you want truly good Khao Poon, I recommend Asiannights Lao-Thai Cuisine & Bar instead. ZAAP Combo Set: This came with Dancing Garlic Riblets, Sticky Rice, and Thai-style Papaya Salad (sweeter with peanuts, spice level 3). The riblets were dry and overcooked. The papaya salad was just okay—basic and lacking depth. The portion of sticky rice was so small it didn’t match the rest of the food; they really should serve more to balance the meal. Drinks: The only thing I genuinely enjoyed was the young coconut juice—it was fresh and delicious. Overall: I usually stick to Asiannights Lao-Thai Cuisine & Bar, but I decided to try something new. Unfortunately, I instantly regretted it. Maybe they were having an off day, but $45 later, I can’t say it was worth the money.

My recent quest for mango sticky rice brought me here. My first attempt on Monday was a miss, as they'd run out (understandable, given how close it was to closing). I came back today with high hopes but left a bit disappointed. The rice had an odd texture, with certain pieces feeling a bit stale, and the white cream on top made the mango overly sweet. It just didn't create a good balance, and ultimately, it didn't taste authentic to me. However, if you're simply in the mood for something sweet, it might satisfy that craving. I'm still eager to try their yellow curry and will update this review after that visit.

The Thai food we have been searching for! We usually make our monthly migration up to plano and we were so excited to find a place closer to home! Staff was friendly, we ordered Pad Thai, Yellow Curry, Spring rolls and Mango sticky rice. Incredible. Flavorful. We will absolutely be back!

Delicious! We ordered - Zaap combo: lao sausage, papaya salad & sticky rice also the khao poon. Super satisfying meal and great service. Definitely will come back.

I cannot rave enough about this place. I love their pineapple fried rice with extra pineapple. The flavor is great, you can adjust heat levels, and it feeds me for two meals. It does contain cashews though for people with nut allergies. My kids love their Pad See Ew. It’s a chill spot.

I’ve ordered from here a few times online, but this was the first time I’ve ever eaten here. Food was delicious. I got the Garlic Stir Fry with beef that came with broccoli and white rice. Would definitely eat it again. I got a spice level 4, but should have done a 5. Will do that next time. Only complaint I had is they didn’t have sriracha for the spring rolls so I didn’t get them. For me sriracha is a must for spring rolls.
