"Zaatar is a Lebanese takeout spot in Hallandale Beach that also sells Middle Eastern groceries, like olives, tea, and Turkish delight. They specialize in wraps, and make a very good shawarma wrap. The baba ghanouj is exceptional too—creamy and smoky from the roasted eggplants—and the hummus is assertively lemony like a proper Lebanese-style hummus should be. The falafels are also tasty and made with more coarsely ground chickpeas and bulgur, which make them fluffier than most other falafels. There are a few tables inside where you can eat, but Zaatar is primarily a takeout option." - Carlos C Olaechea

Zaatar is a hidden gem! The owner is incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The salad bar was spotless and well-stocked exactly how a busy restaurant should operate. As someone with over 12 years in the industry, I know salad stations are never covered because staff don’t have time to open and close lids every few seconds. It was clean, fresh, and definitely not how one unfair review described it. The chicken shawarma was flavorful and fresh off the pit, and their spicy sauce added the perfect kick. The prices are also very reasonable, making it a great value. The only small thing I personally didn’t love was the fat on the chicken, I prefer to trim and prep mine before marinating. But overall, the food was delicious, and I’d definitely come back. Highly recommend if you’re in Miami and craving authentic Middle Eastern flavors!

I recently stopped by this spot and ordered the lamb & beef shawarma combo to go. The fries included in the combo were actually pretty good — crispy and satisfying — though I wish there had been a special dipping sauce to go with them. As for the shawarma itself, it tasted fine, but personally I found it a bit underwhelming. The portion was on the smaller side, and the meat wasn’t as generous or flavorful as I’ve had in other places. Still, service was fast — only had to wait about 4-5 minutes — and the staff was polite and friendly. The atmosphere was calm, with some Middle Eastern music playing in the background. Plenty of free parking nearby and the place looked reasonably clean inside. The total came to $18. I probably wouldn’t come back for the same item, but I’d consider trying other things on the menu before forming a final opinion.

Google
An amazing authentic Lebanese shawarma in the middle of Hollywood Florida. So happy to have found this place. The food is fantastic. Like no joke really really good quality shawarma. Coming from Dubai (where there is no shortage of great shawarma joints) this place really impressed me with the taste and ingredient quality. The chicken shawarma is $12.50 - totally worth the money. Also the baklava is amazing. Top notch taste and texture. It’s homemade! Costs $2.99 👌🏻

I went to this restaurant last year, it was disgusting, I didn't like it at all, my money went to waste, we didn't eat anything as a family, I don't recommend it to anyone, don't go, you'll regret it

If you’re craving an authentic shawarma experience, Zaatar in Hallandale Beach is a must-visit. This hidden gem offers a menu filled with flavorful Middle Eastern specialties, with shawarma taking center stage. From the moment you walk in, the inviting atmosphere and the aroma of freshly grilled meats set the tone for a fantastic meal. The highlight of my visit was a chef-recommended dish, and it did not disappoint. The balance of flavors was exceptional, with perfectly seasoned meat paired beautifully with fresh ingredients. Every bite offered a harmonious blend of spices and textures, leaving a lasting impression. The chef’s skill in combining proteins with the right mix of accompaniments was spot on, and it’s clear that the quality of each component is a top priority. I’ll definitely be making Zaatar a regular stop whenever I’m in the area. Whether you’re a shawarma enthusiast or a first-timer, this spot promises a memorable and satisfying meal. Rating: 5/5

I’ve been meaning to try this place & so glad I finally got to it. It’s a small middle eastern restaurant/market. While waiting for my food I purchased some groceries. They had a variety of foods, treats, & spices from the m.e. My food was prepared quickly & everything was really good. I got the mixed platter with salad & hummus. Everything was flavorful, well seasoned, & tasty. They have more sweets in the restaurant than online, so it’s definitely worth it to drop in & shop around while you wait for your food. I also purchased a piece of pistachio cake that was so fire. I love the marketplace items I have too. I was hoping they sold Zataar spice (hence the name) & to my pleasant surprise they had a variety of it.

The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The owner has been running the place for nine years, so he’s truly a local, and it shows in the care he puts into the business. He’s incredibly kind, genuinely cares about his customers, and even donates a portion of his proceeds to charity. It’s always great to support a small business like this—definitely worth a visit!

The food was delicious and enjoyable. I highly recommend the beef and lamb shawarma.

Yelp
Unfortunately it's way too expensive. Portions are ok, not great, just ok... food is ok... price is very high.

Yelp
Ordered online through the website which went through a site called Sauce. Went in and they initially couldn't find my order, they kept checking the screens near their register area and finally they found it. They told me that I had to wait about 10 minutes which was no issue because I was off work and had no where pressing to go. I noticed that they had gloves on touching the screens and didn't change them when they went back to work with the food. The younger guy that was making the food also touched his eyeglasses and head cap a few times then back into the food, no gloves changed. I'm sorry... I notice these things and it's not good. :-| They were super nice. Thanked me for waiting. Gave me a free pistachio nougat that was really good. The food- The rice was really good and flavorful, the chicken shawarma and kefta was good. Hummus was okay, I've had better. I couldn't eat the salad after observing what I mentioned about gloves.

Yelp
Dropped by here looking for good Turkish Coffee while I was charging. Unfortunately, the PDF menu on their website is outdated.

Yelp
This place had amazing falafel balls within their wraps. The restaurant was also nice to be in. You could see the food being cooked after you ordered. They would also clarify what was in the wrap I ordered to be sure they got it right once the order went in. There wasn't a place for them to write what you didn't want in your dish, so this is why they clarified it when they were making it. When I tried making the order online through their website or Uber, there wasn't a place to select what toppings you wanted within your dish. And when you call the restaurant, they don't answer. The food in general, was good. However, the wraps we ordered were lacking. There needed to be more veggies, seasoning, and protein within the wrap. The fries were also okay. They had this really good seasoning that they added on top of the fries. I wish it was throughout, mixed in.

Yelp
A must have a must stop we dive a hour to have some of this amazing food. Every time we drive south we stop at Zaatar.. great service and great food

Yelp
After having driven by Zaatar numerous times (and making note of it each time I did), I finally came in for a shish tawouk wrap that turned out to be one of the best I'd had in a while (probably since returning from a trip to Israel last fall). The chicken itself was nicely seasoned and the other fillings (hummus, tahini, lettuce, tomato, cabbage, and pickles) complemented it well. The weak link in the chain was the bread, which didn't seem freshly baked and should probably have been warmed up, but the rest of it was good enough that I was still more than satisfied. Other positives were the cleanliness of the store, the friendliness of the workers (owners?), and the shelves of interesting Middle Eastern grocery items that I enjoyed browsing while waiting from my meal. A possible negative was the $11 price for a wrap that wasn't particularly large, but it's 2023 and I honestly have no idea what things are supposed to cost anymore.

Yelp
Fairly priced & the shawarma is yummy! I had the chicken wrap with everything & added garlic sauce. Amazing. Enjoy

Yelp
Nice service, real taste for good food at good price, easy parking, great location on Hallandale FL,

Yelp
The flavor of the food in this restaurant id to die for, I have traveled around the world lived in the far east and traveled to several countries i the middle east and I can confess I flew back in tine to experience the authentic roots of Arabia the service is excellent, either you just call for a pickup, or stay to eat, the music and ambience transported me to a Souk! The price is very affordable

Yelp
I have driven by this restaurant many times but never stopped before. I'm so Happy I did this time. I found this lovely restaurant/shop were the selection of food is very rich and they have a lot Arabic and Middle East products. When I arrived I was greeted by the owner, he was very polite and nice. I wasn't sure what to order, so I played safe and requested the chicken shawarma combo and the kibbis for appetizer. The food was packed nicely and arrived home still hot, the chicken shawarma was delicious, the chicken had lots of flavor and the garlic sauce and hummus salad was also very tasty. I really enjoyed the flavor of the kibbis and the nice chat with the owner while he prepared my food. An overall great experience. Love to discover restaurants and people who share their culture and wonderful cuisine making Miami & Hallandale a more unique place in the world.

Yelp
Good "fast food" shawarma and falafel. Cooked to order and spiced well. Don't expect a fine dining experience. It has a tiny dining area with a wall of shelves containing Lebanese and Middle Eastern foods. After thinking about it for a long time, I had the appetizer special: Kibbe, Falafel, Hummos, Baba Ganoush, Grape Leaves, etc. The portion was quite large. It would make a big lunch.

Yelp
I just had the best Lamb Shawarma from my life It is really a tradition Lebanese food! Loved it!!!! Amazing!! For sure I will come back to this place soon.

Alessandro P.

Yelp
Highly recommend it. As authentic as it gets. Will come back soon. Very friendly and fast service.

Olga G.

Yelp
Heavenly Baba Ganoush and a Kafta Wrap. Everything tasted fresh and the service was outstanding. I would love to come back and try more items. Delicious!

Claire P.

Yelp
I am adventurous with trying something new and this place has amazing fast food. The guy in the kitchen is great. I fell in love with the pistachio cake

Talleb A.

Yelp
Great shawarma ! It's juicy and the mix of beef n lamb really works magic for your taste buds !

Giovanni D.

Yelp
Cuando comes en el lugar el sándwich de lam está bien resuelto, full, pero si lo pides a domicilio sale demasiado costos y es muy pobre, sin carne ni ingredientes, ni salsa para colocarle.

Jimmy C.

Yelp
Used to love love love this place . Unfortunately, they raised prices , reduced portions, servers are not the friendliest , and now they flip that iPad so you can tip them 20% for an overpriced meal with less than friendly service . Shame. Was better before . Believe me .

Jimmy G.

Yelp
Ordered through Uber Eats and have To say that for the price the quality was awful. The Beef was dry and lacked any freshness whatsoever. The rice included with the dinner was stale and taste over a day old. The Greek salads were a sloppy mess of lettuce with random piece of tomato and few olives on top. The babaganush was greasy and also bland as can be. Wouldn't recommend through delivery at least and definitely a one and done for my wife and I

Anthony M.

Yelp
Went for the first time today their kafta is very good! Would take a pic but all the food is already gone

Liv B.

Yelp
The falafel wrap was really excellent. All the components were fresh and flavorful. The picked vegetables in the sandwich were so good. I also had the baklava and a bottle of the mint lemonade. Both solid choices.

Ivan L.

Yelp
Good food. Decent price. Friendly. All self service. Very tiny. A place that is ok to visit once in a while when you are in the mood for something a little different.

Sheila O.

Yelp
Their food is fantastic. The chumos is almost the best I ever had outside of London. Their grape leaf tastes home made. Their kibbe is light and excellent. Everything is worth trying. All Their food is so authentic and delicious.

Yelp
I was so hungry. I left highly upset. Several things added to my frustration work this place. First... the impeccably slow worker. This lady, I was told, was new. But wether you're new or old... you should have common sense. I ordered BEEF shawarma. I even inquired why the heat was off. I was told by a male worker there that by law they aren't allowed to sell the shawarma meat unless they cook it on the grill. I have never heard of that But I was like ok. The problem with this is.... when you cut the raw shawarma... you get thick pieces if meat. That ain't no shawarma man. That's more like chopped up steak. And having the raw meat just sit there wouldn't be safe to consume. I really wanted to leave. I was starving unfortunately and had a throbbing headache. Secondly... back to this ridiculously slow lady working there. She tries to prove me wrong as to what I ordered. The other worker was cooking up chicken shawarma when I ordered beef. Very rude and unprofessional. She's so lost.... she even had the poor uber eats driver waiting for over 15 minutes when his order was ready from before he even got there. When the other worker attempted to take the uber guys order, he told him he's the uber eats driver and here to pick up the order. He told them that's the first thing he said when he got there but this girl is in Lala land. Anyway.... I'm being generous by giving 3 stars because the rice was flavorful. The shawarma tasted alright but was way too thick and had several fatty unchewy pieces. This review sounds all over the place. And it is, just like this place. Lol I was highly displeased with the service. I expected better Zaatar!!

Nik K.

Yelp
The best falafel ever! You can pick toppings for shawarma and it was delicious! I would go back again!

Nelida B.

Yelp
The service and the food are excellent . And the ambiance is perfect and clean . The falafel is made with real meat . I'm happy that this place is near my home .

Amira S.

Yelp
The best shawarma in Florida!! Great quality ingredients, delicious taste, great prices, friendly staff. I cant say enough about this place. Parking available also. I would come here everyday for lunch if i lived close. The only thing i would say is just make sure you get the shawarma toasted its super delicious

Fareena T.

Yelp
Although the Shawarma was tasty and the restaurant is conveniently located. The restaurant had only two customers in this restaurant the service was slow in fact he didn't actually acknowledge the second customer until 10 minutes later. We were probably voicing our concerns out loud and yet they did not register with the person that worked there.

J M.

Yelp
The best Shawarma you could ever find in Florida hands down, the kibbi is out of this world and if I was able to take a photo of this food before I eat it, I wish I could.

William L.

Yelp
I did some research on the top Middle Eastern style food around Hallandale Beach...all fingers pointed to Zaatar. I tried their lamb beef wrap and was blown away by the freshness, quality, and size. It was filled with flavor, certainly not bland at at slightest! The wrap was decently priced and the service was quick. The wrap had three types of spreads, lettuce, tomato, onions, turnips, pickles and of course shawarma meat - chicken or lamb. Dang, I want one now. Will certainly return!

Elian D.

Yelp
As first time experience was excellent, still I will go to 5 stars if next visits keep the standard. The owner is very nice and serviceable, food is good, price is all-right. Looks clean and nice, staff also is amiable I do recommend this place

Nina G.

Yelp
I ordered the Greek salad with chicken and the fattouch salad with chicken. Looks NOTHING like the pictures, chicken was super greasy. These were the two saddest salads I've ever seen for 35 bucks.

Karishma H.

Yelp
Food was pretty tasty. Very small restaurant but owner was nice enough to let us sit and enjoy our meal. The delivery orders were non stop while we ate. Very simple menu but, food is tasty! We got the lamb shawarma platter with rice and salads The two people who worked there were nice, especially the women.

Alfreso L.

Yelp
Friendly staff, cozy environment THE FOOD IS AMAZING. THE FOOD IS AWESOME ! I had the Lamb Shawarma it was Incredible !! The humus was so packed full of flavor wow Really great food for a great price !

Katty T.

Yelp
Omg this place is a gem!!!!! What drove me here were the reviews but I really wanted to try it for myself. I got here as soon as they opened and pretty quickly started to get busy. I even tho there was only one person working here the service was amazing and the food was fresh , really good portion and very delicious!!!! 100% would recommend!

Gianfranco A.

Yelp
I arrived around 8 pm, they didn't have meat for the shawarmas, only chicken, I asked for a mixed shawarma (chicken and falafel) which is not on the menu, the falafel is charged extra, 1 dollar each falafel, the girl who took our order was super friendly, additionally I asked for an order of Kibbe, which was quite good, the chicken in the shawarma and the falafel were excellent, 10.50 dollars for the combo (fries and soda can) and the size of the shawarma, was super good.

Anastasiya E.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious!!!!! Fresh and amazing. The sizes of the portions are enormous and the prices are fair! The guys who work here a friendly and professional. I had a chicken kebob, pita, hummus, babaganoush and salad! I absolutely love this place and will be back!

Catalina A.

Yelp
Obsessed. Absolutely obsessed. This place is as authentic as you can get in the area. I am of Lebanese descent and grew up eating Lebanese food and I can say this place makes me feel at home. Now, add to this the fact that the owner is SO nice and friendly. Love this place. If there were six stars I wouldn't hesitate one second to give them six.

Rose I.

Yelp
Grabbed food from Zaatar Shawarma on our way back up to Orlando and I must say it was the best Mediterranean food we've have in a while. We got the falafel plate, mini mix grill came with rice, a falafel platter, hummus and Baba ghanoush. Seasoning on our food was on point. The food was cooked fresh and on the spot, the place is clean and great service. If you see this wonderful place, I do recommend stopping in and ordering.

Alan W.

Yelp
Time for lunch, & time to try a new place while I'm here visiting South Florida. The first thing I noted was how clean it was in Zaatar's. That really stood out. The worker was very polite & friendly, & I discovered he is Lebanese. I have discovered that different parts of the Middle East make falafel differently. My favorite type is Israeli, but I enjoy the ethnic differences of others. The worker laid out two pieces of flat pita & had me tell him which toppings I wanted. I got hummus, babaganoush, tahini, onions, hot sauce, pickles, tomatoes, etc. Then he cooked my falafel & placed it on the toppings & rolled the breads to form a wrap. The combo came with fries & a drink. The wrap was very large & plentiful. It again did not taste like what I'm used to from Israel, but that is ok. It was very good. They were also very generous with the piping hot fries. I couldn't eat them all. Zaatar's was a nice experience.

Omar O.

Yelp
This has probably been the worst lamb shawarma I have ever had, full of fat and big pieces of white onion. Super fatty food, its restroom was out of service. Such a sorrow and shame paying US$ 35.25 for three fatty awful lamb shawarmas. Never I will return to this place, it is too pricy for just garbage food.

Alizabeth W.

Yelp
This place is legit AF !!! I mean the shawarma is DIVINE. The garlic sauce puts it on ANOTHER LEVEL. Do yourself a favor and get over here fast. Best food in Hallandale. Ask for Mohammad!

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Best Mediterranean restaurant in town! Hands down! Falafel is always fresh and everything is made in-house, great place for a sit down lunch also

Hannah M.

Yelp
I was super excited to try this spot! I'm from New York and I found this spot to be no different from a halal food cart, except more expensive. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the service and the communication at the counter. The employees were young and seemed to be unfriendly. When I went to pay for my food the young man just stood there and asked for my card, I had to ask him twice for the total of my order. Aside from the poor service, I was not impressed with the food, especially for the price. The rice was flavorful, and the falafel was cooked well but didn't have much of a taste. The hummus lacked flavor, and there was hardly any salad at all that came with my order. Maybe a quarter of a cup, if even. The bread was not warm and in my opinion stale. It was sad to see the owner outside smoking a cigarette and put it out and left it outside of the restaurant with other trash. I feel like a owner should take pride in the cleanliness in his business and not leave trash around. However, he seemed like a very nice man but should train the staff a little more.

Angela R.

Yelp
If I could give it 0 stars I would. I was running errands in this area and I stopped by for a quick bite to eat and honestly, I thought it was going to be good, later to find out how shockingly bad the food was. It's the worst lamb I've ever had. The lamb was burnt, the rice had no flavor and the salad wasn't very good either. Additionally I ordered hummus and pita bread which was disgusting, the "pita bread" tasted more like a bad tortilla: thin, cold and tasteless. If I'd had more time I would have returned it but honestly I didn't have any, so I had to eat it that way. As if it wasn't enough, I spent 25 dollars on that horrible meal.

Fay D.

Yelp
Very nice staff and food is great! Would definitely recommend I would try the yogurt drink with the chicken Tawook, extra pickles and garlic!

Logan S.

Yelp
Cleaned restaurant, small size simple dining, good people depend on the days. I normally come here around from work whenever if I'm in the mood to eat Shawarma wrap. I've alway ordered lamb Shawarma wrap which is my favorite. Their food quality was not so bad and to be honest their meat are a little dry but other than that was good. I like their flavor of hummus ,and spicy herbs sauce. Their's veggies look fresh. I don't see anything that look old or showing any mold rot.. I give this place 5 star from me. Don't have any problem with their's food ,and services.

Turan Z.

Yelp
I am a regular customer here. It is hard to impress me with food. This place though , has great food and wonderful service. One of the best places in Hallandale area. Must go place.
