"Zabala is situated in the district of Los Arquillos, popular with tourists, just a few metres away from the Plaza Mayor. Behind its attractive stone façade, you’ll find two highly distinct spaces: one, at street level, with a meticulous contemporary look that includes a striking wave-like wood decor; the other, upstairs, home to carefully appointed dining rooms, a private section, plus one room crowned by a large vaulted ceiling. The dishes on the traditional à la carte, prepared using ingredients of the finest quality, is embellished with the occasional contemporary touch. Good food. Good wine. Adequate service that was not the friendliest, which felt unusual given other places we’ve dined in Basque. The space is nice and many locals so that always feels like a good sign :)

A great atmosphere in the city center of Vitoria-Gasteiz! The service was excellent, and I was very pleased with the quality of attention provided. Regarding the food, I have mixed feelings. I really enjoyed their bread and the Russian salad, which were delightful. However, I found the fish lacking in flavor, as it seemed to need more spices. I had to add salt to bring out the taste. As a Michelin-starred restaurant, the level of service truly reflects its ranking, and it’s evident in how attentive the staff is. While I’m not entirely convinced by the food, I would still recommend giving it a try.

We were 4 of us. All of us were very happy with our food. We were not too hungry, so we only ordered one each dish and a soup to share. I don’t think the portion is very small, I had been to some pretentious restaurants, this is not it. The food are nicely prepared and presented. The tripes my husband ordered was sooooo good, I highly recommend it. My beef cheek is a bit on the sweet side, not my liking but I cannot complain, it’s full of flavour and melt in your mouth. If anything, I would say that perhaps they can give a bit more baby squids? It’s undoubtedly good, but I did worry that my father in law would be hungry still after this.

High quality and tasty food in a beautiful, unpretentious, warm and cosy environment. The prices and food quantity are very reasonable. We recommend the croquettes, the pork with peanut butter, and the cheesecake.
