Michelin-Starred Shunji Sushi in West LA Makes New Santa Monica Plans - Eater LA

"The former tenant there, casual cafe Zabie’s, closed permanently last month after a quarter-century of business, and now it seems that Nakao is planning to move in some time soon, though it will likely take a while to reconfigure the restaurant and reopen with a new sushi-specific layout." - Farley Elliott

Wonderful breakfast. Comfy and cozy. The ambiance is quiet and you can enjoy your breakfast while reading or working. The tables are really nice and the owners provide great customer service. They really need WiFi here. They don’t have it currently. I am hoping they decide it is best for their business.

Addictive, amazing, and fresh food served by a friendly staff. Our office used to be around the corner and I ate here all the time. Sadly I'm only able I get over here about one month now. Highly recommend the burgers, poached salmon, and chicken. Oh, and the spicy chicken pasta. Actually, I haven't had a bad meal here. The spicy poached salmon is highly addictive (you've been warned!)

Cute neighborhood breakfast spot that is affordable, clean, and Not too busy. Staff is kind, and service is quick. Breakfast was pretty good--the eggs were a little overcooked but still tasty. They have cute little bowls outside that they fill with water for patrons with dogs.

Person that brought me here had been here frequently and was friends with the owners. I have never been there but felt like a family member once I answered the doors. They were hospitable, friendly, and actually quite kind. The food must have been great as it was a great experience. Anywhere this friend takes me seems to be a great place and it's hard to remember what we ate as I enjoy their company so much.

I wish I could give a better rating, but I was disappointed with both the quality of food and service received today. My boyfriend and I arrived at 2PM for lunch and were asked if we would like to dine in or take out. We decided to sit outside thinking there was still an hour before close. By 2:30PM we were being rushed to leave with our waitress coming by every few minutes to pick up items - before we were finished eating. The food itself was average - we both ordered grilled cheeses with soups. The carrot-ginger soup had chunks of ginger in it (not blended), and I didn't get a chance to finish the food before it was taken away. Then, when our food was taken away and I was still finishing my coffee, we were asked to come inside and pay immediately - and also if I could finish my drink (I gulped it down in front of our waitress). At 2:45PM, a man came out and said "that's it, you need to go now". Absolutely astounded and confused, we got up promptly and asked when the close time was. He stumbled on explanation saying "2:30PM", but when I noted that the close time online is 3PM, he said "yes, we do close at 3 but today is slow so we are closing at 2:30PM". I don't recall that a store owner will ask you to dine-in if they anticipate shooing you out 30min later. We did not arrive 10 or even 30min before close, we arrived an *hour* before close. If you plan to close early, then please let your customer know that only take-out options are available. Incredibly rude service and I unfortunately do not plan to come back. Please communicate with your customers in a more polite and honest manner.
