Yelp
5 stars for service, 4.5 for food. Prices are fair. Our party of 4 ordered two small deep dish pizzas (6 slices, $25-27 each). The menu says one small feeds 2-3 people, but it can easily feed 4. At the end of the meal, we still had four hefty slices left over.
Our group arrived at 11:30 am on a Saturday morning, and we were one of the first people at the restaurant. The casual and cozy decor features a wooden interior and quirky paintings. Our server was peppy, cheery, and attentive. She proactively offered ice for our friend's canned coffee, coffee creamer, and housemade ranch. The ranch was thick, creamy, and well seasoned. I licked it off my crust when people weren't looking!
Zachary's completely changed my mind about deep dish pizza. Their crust is crispy and sturdy, but not dry and flavorless like cardboard. They stuff the pie generously, and yet the layers of cheese, sauce, and toppings maintain integrity. It does not devolve into pizza soup in a hard bread bowl.
PIZZAS ORDERED
- Butternut Squash Daily Special + Chicken. The goat cheese was present, but not overwhelming, and the slightly sweet butternut squash was diced into small pieces which cooked through. The overall synergy of this pizza was already so great that the delicious ranch didn't enhance it.
- Carne (Italian sausage, bacon, pepperoni, salame). I usually don't like too much cured meat on one pizza since it tends to get salty. That happened with this one, but the ranch helped tone down the salt. I nevertheless appreciated that I could taste the various components.
