9 Flavorful Indian and South Asian Restaurants in Denver | Eater Denver

"For the sauteed kale and eggplant alone, this sunny fast-casual outlet at Lincoln and Speer is worth a stop, but the kitchen does everything with gusto, including a rich cilantro- and nut-based curry called lajjatdar and a deep, dark rogan josh. Sometimes the cooks behind the counter even sing while they work." - Ruth Tobias

Google
My first night in Denver. My son recommended this spot. It hit the mark. Everything was delicious and the owner came out and made us feel welcome. We ate a lot and took some home for later. Highly recommend

We had the joy of celebrating a friend’s birthday at Zaika Indian Express in Denver today, and it was an experience to remember. From the moment we walked in, the warm welcome and amazing hospitality made us feel right at home. Enu, the kind and caring owner, along with the wonderful staffs; made everyone feel truly special. We loved the Tikka Masala, Lamb Korma, Saag Paneer, Lamb Biryani, and Garlic Naan. Each dish was packed with flavor and made fresh with love. And don’t miss the chai tea, so delicious and the perfect way to end the meal. Big thanks to Enu and entire staffs for making the day so memorable. We’ll definitely be back, and if you haven’t been yet, go treat yourself to some amazing Indian and Nepalese food. 💫🍛❤️

Google
It was really good and authentic 3 is a pretty spicy level but still with flavor in it would 10000% recommend this place

Google
This restaurant is absolutely amazing, I have been here dozens of times with my partner and the meals are always delicious. The family that runs it are wonderful and they are always friendly to every customer :)) Please come and support them, the atmosphere is also very nice.

Google
The quality of food was sub par but it was inexpensive. Ordered samosas and Kofta Keshari with onion naan. The servers were quite friendly and hospitable though. The place could also improve on hygiene. Wasn't a very good location either. They had both indoor as well as outdoor seating. Wouldn't recommend for a hearty Indian meal.

Google
Best Gobi Manchurian I’ve ever had !! Samosas are 10/10. Man at the front was so nice and gave us some really tasty Chair while we waited. Love these guys, been coming here since I moved in 2022 !

Google
The steamed chicken momos are delicious. Chana masala was good but I went back twice for the momos during my short stay in Denver. The fried momos are not as good but the steamed momos are delicious.

Yelp
We ate here twice in a span of a few days of being here. Service was excellent and they treated us like family. The food was very tasty and delicious! Ambiance is pleasant and welcoming! Definitely a five star!

Vivan G.

Yelp
Amazing food and phenomenal service from Raj. It was great food coming from someone who eats food a lot. Great ambiance as well, we just came in from a flight and it was a very nice place to eat. Would definitely recommend to anybody looking for authentic Indian food in the Denver area that tastes amazing.

Yelp
Amazing Food!! I've found my new bestie. The food, atmosphere, and service are all A+! They brought out a free chai tea right away. Delicious. I got Tandoori Chicken, which was sooooo good!! I'm surprised by the amount of space inside. The plaza is deceiving from the outside. Perfect for a sit-down meal.
google avatar

Bart A.

Yelp
Just kind of shocked of how expensive my basic chicken tikka masala was. Was kind of speechless when I picked it up.
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
Great service. They were on top of everything: cleaning, offering to go boxes and bags, and giving refills. I've never had service like that at a fast food place. Not the cleanest place, one of the to-go containers had a lot of splashed something on it. They still made it right and brought us clean ones. The food had great flavor. A level 3 was a little mild compared to other Indian restaurants in the area but the spices made me ignore that. I would definitely come back here again. One order is enough for at least two meals.
google avatar

Ed K.

Yelp
Always a delicious choice! Zaika has the tastiest korma and masala sauces I've had in Denver, and their spice-heat level is nicely balanced at medium (heat that doesn't disguise the sauce flavor). Their sauces are my baseline when trying other restaurants. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Jordan C.

Yelp
So good, large portions great service! They gave me a chai while I waited for my take out :)
google avatar

Jing D.

Yelp
Love the food and the staff. The food is tasty, and the staff are friendly and attentive. Love the free Chai tea. Price is reasonable.
google avatar

Ryan H.

Yelp
Delicious as always. (First time at this Zaika Express, but I've had meals at the other Zaika locations on many occasions; quality seemed consistent with my normal experience.)
google avatar

Don K.

Yelp
I hadn't been here in about 5 years but was nearby and grabbed some take out. Take out was ready on time, and staff was flexible in accommodating a special order. The crab masala is excellent and it's what brought me back and I wasn't disappointed. Definitely good for a quick meal!

Yelp
I am not usually a yelp reviewer, but I ordered delivery from this place last night and found a bug in my food. A full sized bug, which I bit down on, and it did not taste very good. I have pictures. I do not know how it happened, but I will certainly never be ordering from this place again.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious food. Friendly and fast service. Casual atmosphere. I have been here multiple times and the owner/ manager and everyone else is helpful, kind, and welcoming. Truly appreciate the warm chai tea and to-go rice with extra leftovers. If you haven't been, you should immediately change that. Zaika is the absolute bomb!
google avatar

Yelp
I love this restaurant Me encanta lo recomiendo me encanta el borrego y el pollo. Estos platillos son los que pido más seguido
google avatar

Yelp
The food here is homemade with love. Don't bother with any other restaurant. The family owned business is friendly, excellent food. Made fresh naan. I had tandoori lamb and lamb biryani. It couldn't have been better!

Yelp
This is my second visit and We we're equally pleased! There were more in to dine and the service was swift! Great place for a late dinner with chicken lamb and vegetarian options you can't go wrong! If you like greek just go!
google avatar

Yelp
As a native Texan I don't feel I'm qualified to critique the "authenticity" of the dishes. However as lover of all things food I can honestly say the the food was delicious in every which way possible. I had the Rogan Josh and opted to go with the Lamb. "But Steve what about the service," you ask... superb! Not only was everyone friendly, our server was also attentive and helpful with his suggestions. The ambiance was just what I would've have expected, with Indian music playing over the radio loud enough to catch the vibes but not so loud I had to yell across the table... All in all my experience was was everything I thought my first time eating Indian cuisine would be, I would totally recommend you check it out!
google avatar

Greg B.

Yelp
Delicious authentic food. Korma with vegetables, curry with tofu and veggie samosas! I'm stuffed and happy!

Yelp
Wow. I am so impressed with this place. I ordered a creamy dish called Lajjatdar with chicken. It was so flavorful. A smooth creaminess with a perfect amount of hers and spice. I also ordered a lamb biryani with a medium spice. Whew the spice was more definitely there but ina really robust flavor way not a, this is hot for the sake of hot. Lamb was tender and perfectly cooked. Give this place a try!

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place for a while since it has the word express in it's name. I'm always looking for fast casual restaurants to eat at before work and I can definitely see myself frequenting this eatery a lot. The interior is a nice bright green. The space is not large by any means, but just enough incase it gets busy. One thing I would suggest for the business is to invest in some sun shades. The sun was bursting in the restaurant and it was incredibly hot and bouncing light off the tables and into our faces. Zaika Indian Express has lots of options to choose from and the service is quick and met with a smile. Once I ordered, the food was out no later than five minutes. They may be considered more expensive, but the portions are large enough that I got two meals for the price of one. Chicken Saag is usually my go to and I was not disappointed. It was creamy and the chicken was tender and pulled apart easily. I went with a 1 for spicyness out of 5 and for me it was pretty spicy. Made me question if that was really a 1 or if they messed up. Either way it was still really good. Plus, I got two large pieces of naan which must have been included in the $17 meal. What a steal! I would gladly give Zaika Indian my money any day. This place is awesome!
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
Finally tried Zaika after needing some "late night" food. I ordered the lamb vindaloo and garlic naan. I found myself pretty pleased with the vindaloo and would order again. However, I was not a big fan of the garlic naan. It was a bit chewy and tough rather than soft and bread-like. Which is upsetting because naan is such a staple usually. The vindaloo was nice but a bit oilier than usual. Also, just note that when you take an order to go it doesn't seem like regular naan is included (some reviews mentioned naan coming with their entree which wasn't the case for me.) Overall, I'd come back since it's open later than other places in that area but it's a 3 stars for me.

Yelp
great service and delicious food. it's just so scrumdillyumcious! highly recommend, especially the classic tikka masala. easy to navigate. don't let the "express" fool you. this is quality indian food.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Everything was fresh, hot, and ready. Humble management too. Out/indoor seating.

Yelp
My first time trying Indian food with my partner and this place was on par! Not only do they have a sliding scale for spices (for those like me that do not like very spicy food) the food was still full of spices and flavor without the need to burn the mouth. The customer service was above and beyond! This is going to be a new go to restaurant! I will be bringing my whole family to check out this place. Highly recommend!!!

James M.

Yelp
This was one of the few places open when we were out and were starving. We were warmly welcomed by the owner, who was very considerate and friendly. The food was delicious and warmed us right up. Great restaurant and great service.
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
This is the perfect lunch spot -- the Chana Masala is exactly right and the naan is crispy and chewy. The only thing better than the food is the service - thoughtful, friendly, welcoming and warm
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
Delicious food and friendly staff. We had an incident where we ordered for the wrong date/time and they were very helpful. I love the chicken tikka masala, which is always creamy, delicious and complements the jasmine rice well. My husband is vegetarian and always finds something he loves. If you don't mind the garlic breath, the garlic naan is also consistently fantastic.

Tyler G.

Yelp
Words cannot describe how much my partner and I LOVE Zaika's food, but more importantly the sense of familiarity when you walk in the door. This is by far the BEST Indian food in Denver, CO and an easily walkable restaurant if you live in the Cap hill neighborhood. Family owned and operated- what else can ya ask for?

Yelp
After a characteristically long debate about whether I would be responsible for feeding myself dinner, I decided to order some Indian delivery. I went to pull up one of my usual places and realized I hadn't ever had Zaika Indian Express before, and that they would deliver to my address. Given the positive reviews, I took the leap of faith and decided to try something new. I was definitely not disappointed. The delivery arrived in 45 minutes, and the food was still nice and hot. I ordered Lamb Vindaloo, Paneer Makhni, Kale Aur Baingan (like Baingan Bharta but instead of just eggplant, Kale too), and garlic naan. The Vindaloo was tangy and spicy, the makhni nice and creamy. Entrees were very plentiful with meat/paneer. I thought the kale addition to the eggplant was a nice touch to round things out, and it was less oily (but also less silky) than some Baingan I've had before. The garlic naan was some of the best I've had. The leftovers made for several meals (though I was quick to add some additional veg so I didn't feel too guilty--highly recommend trying). The ordering process was excellent! You could specify the heat-level for each dish individually, no matter the type (hot is actually hot). Also, they use ChowNow as an interface, so all of the proceeds went directly to the restaurant. This is a huge plus, as I'm finding myself more and more compelled not to order delivery because of huge delivery site % takes from restaurants. Definitely adding this to the rotation. Great job Zaika!

Yelp
No frills, consistent quality, friendly staff, and always tasty. Approachable spice levels and they are willing to kick it up a notch upon request

Yelp
New state, new Indian food to try! Unfortunately I picked a bad place to eat. We started off with a mango lassi that was the highlight of this meal. After that it all went downhill from there... the vegetable samosa was a bit dry and heavily dusted with spices. We also ordered chana masala and lamb korma with butter naan. The dishes were both watery and nothing great about the flavors . The naan was horrible, it was dry, salt less and overall just awful! Very disappointed in this place based on all the other good reviews.
google avatar

Charlotte C.

Yelp
Service was great and speedy! Food was good. Great location! We ordered veg samosa, panoke, Kerala chicken curry, lamb marsala. All was tasty!
google avatar

Danny M.

Yelp
To the many Yelpers who say they get two meals out of their Zaika, I sincerely applaud your self control. Had I not run out of their delicious naan, I think I'd still be eating. We ordered the veggie samosas, chicken tikka masala, lamb saag, a cheese naan and a garlic naan which set us back like $60 with tip. It's express but not cheap. But it's homemade and I watched them rolling out my naan dough and freshly cooking it when I walked in. The chicken tikka and the garlic naan were a match made in heaven.
google avatar

Tiffany L.

Yelp
I have driven by this place many times along Broadway but didn't pay much attention to it until after an evening league game, I was starving and desperate for food. I was excited to see that Zaika opened until midnight. The first time I went, I definitely over indulged. I ordered the tikka masala with chicken, saag paneer, and garlic naan to go. They offered me chai while I waited and it was delicious. I waited only 15 minutes for my order. I came home with more food than I could imagine but that's what I call meal prepping. I would definitely return. I already returned with friends and they love the place too. The service is great, everyone is friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Joshua N.

Yelp
So first off I have to say the food here is great. If I'm doing Indian food it's going to be here. Only reason for a 3 star review is how the prices have seemingly increased every time I've been over the last two years... Maybe they used to have a lunch special (which is the time I'm usually coming here as it's close to work) and that was a better deal... I'm sitting in here right now and I'm a little bit in sticker shock...$27 for chicken tikka masala some rice and naan bread (no drink). Maybe that's just the way things are now a days... Again. It's delicious...and maybe I need to just come here for dinner (although it is set up more as a cafe style lunch place).
google avatar

Mitali S.

Yelp
Good service! The food tasted just like homemade food and fresh. I would recommend this to anyone looking to get a quick bite. If you are looking for ambiance this is not the place. It can get very loud at times.

Savannah L.

Yelp
First time here. Butter chicken was amazing. Moist but not fatty. The lamb was also tender and amazing. Great flavor on the sauces we tried. Garlic Naan was more thin and crispy than other places I've tried which I actually liked. The garlic flavor really came through.
google avatar

Marcello B.

Yelp
I just came in for the first time. This is hands down the best Indian food I've ever had in Denver. The staff is super friendly and treat you like family. It really was a wonderful experience. Plus the Chai was to die for. 100% would recommend

Yelp
Oh what a wonderful diamond to have stumbled upon! I was in the area for something else one night and thought, "Hmm, Indian food does sound good!" So serendipitous indeed! Upon entering, the sweet smell of melding spices hits you right away and while reviewing the menu (I ordered to-go) you can't imagine that anything tastes sub par. I decided on the Chicken Kerala Curry with Garlic naan. While I sat and awaited my order the owner kindly made conversation and made me feel incredibly welcome. It's obvious that each dish is made with love, their secret ingredient. While waiting, I was able to try just one samosa. I thought about placing a full order, at first, but assumed it would be too much food. If there is one takeaway from this review - ORDER THE SAMOSAS!!!!!! These were, by far, the best I've ever had. The outside pastry, which sets the stage for the entire bite, was HEAVENLY! Instead of something doughy, it was buttery and flaky. I literally could have eaten the pastry alone. But no! I was then blessed with a filling to rival all samosa fillings - perfectly spiced, colorful, plentiful and delicious! Heed my words - ORDER THE SAMOSAS!!! I would have taken a photo, but I only got one, and was stopping for no one. After getting home with my order, and just when I thought the samosa would be the crescendo of my meal, I tasted the Kerala curry and ate the first bite with my eyes closed (I've learned that that's the body's way of enhancing your sense of taste - it attempts to dull the other senses). While the chicken was beautifully tender, the curry was drinkably delectable. Just imagine a perfectly spiced curry (mild for me) but enhanced exponentially by just enough coconut milk to sing. The curry was so enchanting that I almost forgot the garlic naan awaiting me... As for the naan, well, a picture speaks 1,000 mouthwatering words. In short, this would be a showstopper at the Gilroy Garlic Fastival. I'm incredibly thrilled that Zaika is less than 1 mile away and open late, because on those evenings where nothing sounds good, Zaika's offerings will ALWAYS hit the spot!
google avatar

Emily K.

Yelp
Delicious Indian food! We stopped by Zaika for dinner in Denver, and we were not disappointed. My boyfriend & I shared both the chili chicken appetizer and the lamb korma entree. I was so surprised by how much I loved the chili chicken! It is described as "chicken morsels glazed in an Indo-Chinese style zesty soy-tomato sauce." It was amazing - flavorful, spicy, and a great amount of food for the cost. Lamb korma is one of my all-time favorite foods (so I am a bit biased), but it was so tasty. This was one of the more creamy kormas we've had, and it went so well with the tender lamb. Next time you are looking for a flavorful, filling dinner in Denver, I would recommend coming to Zaika.
google avatar

Elizabeth Y.

Yelp
Thank goodness I tried this place out because it's one of my favorite Indian food spots! This is near my work and I wanted to try something new for lunch so I ordered the Chicken Tikka Marsala and nan and it was amazing! A coworker of mine got the Buttered Chicken and she has never had Indian food before. This place got her hooked! It comes with a ton of food so you're definitely getting your moneys worth. The flavor of the marsala was so flavorful and the perfect amount of spice. You can get different ranges of heat and I usually get the medium-hot level of spice. I highly recommend this place, pick up process is easy and you are guaranteed a great meal.
google avatar

Lydia H.

Yelp
Zaika is my happy place! I take everyone who visits me in Denver to Zaika. The food is so fresh and delicious, it's hard to leave leftovers for the next day. Also, plenty of gluten free options clearly marked on the menu!

Molly S.

Yelp
Friendly service on a pick-up order. But the chicken vindaloo had no spice. Delicious naan. Veggie samosas were good but a little salty.
google avatar

Mark W.

Yelp
This place was fantastic. The people there were very friendly. We got the popadum, naan, chicken korma (4/5 heat) and chicken tiki masala (1/5). Heat wasn't overwhelming on korma but good. Made fresh. Some family members first language isn't English so give them a break there. Willing to share their culture and very friendly.
google avatar

Brad B.

Yelp
I've driven by this place I don't know, 100 times before ordering and those were 100 mistakes. This is one of the best Indian food spots in the city. I've tried almost every other place near Downtown or west of I-25 metro and this place is way more affordable and on par if not better than any of them! The chicken is cooked so well where it's crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Rice is light and fluffy. The Naan is great!! I prefer the garlic but the cheese is stuffed and super filing. Also tried a mango smoothie and I couldn't believe how fresh it tasted! What a great little treat to finish off the dinner. I will be back and can't wait to until next time.

Nelly M.

Yelp
Great service, very friendly staff, and even tastier food!Inside is very clean and they are very sanitary! Every time I have come here it has been delicious. I highly recommend this place!
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
I agree with Joshua. They've priced themselves out of my market. Food is good, though.

Ken K.

Yelp
Delicious food, great service. We found this place because it was the only Indian restaurant in town open after 10pm (they were open to midnight). We really enjoyed this place. The owner and his wife served us and they made recommendations and seemed to care about our experience. He explained and described food options. Very pleased and plan to go back.
google avatar

Crystal G.

Yelp
Perfect timing walked into a completely empty restaurant and got the most amazing greeting from the owners. I stand by my statement if you don't have good Indian food then your city sucks! Luckily Denver Colorado coming through! Five star Indian food cuisine. Thank you for the amazing service. The price is definitely right! Make your way to the Zamia Indian Express
google avatar

Van N.

Yelp
Delicious food - we had the lamb saag, open late which was clutch, and staff was very friendly
