Google
Interesting place. It serves as both a hotel restaurant and as an independent establishment. You can enter either way. Once inside, it's a diner with all the classics. Portions are quite generous, waitstaff is nice and efficient and their coffee is excellent! So why not give them 5 stars? They are quite pricey! Breakfast was typically $25 per person. Ouch.

Google
Great restaurant for breakfast or lunch! We enjoyed the quick service and friendly staff. Nice to enjoy a John Wayne’s theme hotel which has great vibes and exquisite decoration!

Google
This is a great deli in a hotel. The restaurant is separate, but you head into the hotel for the restrooms. This leads one to discover how nice the hotel is. You'll want to do a photo shoot in there with your date. 😂 The sandwiches were pretty good. We had a reuben and a club sandwich. The club was a bit above average, and the reuben was good. The place feels like NYC. It's a bit expensive for a couple of sandwiced, but I wasn't mad. I'll visit again.

Google
Food was flavorful. Desserts were tasty. French toast was great. Other brunch items were flavorful. I think the day that we went , they were understaffed. Which we understand that these days, a common fare at many restaurants. We had to wait very long for coffee and water refills.

Google
My husband, our kids and myself stayed at the Kingsley for a couple nights and we fell in love with Zalman's. No need to go anywhere for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their food was beyond exceptional, yummmm!!!!! We were treated with heartwarming hospitality and Mya is extraordinary. We rate their food and service 5 stars across the board! Do your palate a favor and go have a tasting.

Google
Excellent bakery, staff, and ambiance. Great for groups or families. Ada compliant. The food was both good with a few weirdly simple things that were not - like coleslaw that came as a side. Stellar drink and beverage menu with an array of bakery options to make any sweet lover stop by to grab n go. We sat down for a late lunch we had - grilled cheese and tomato soup- awesome - grilled cheese sliced into sticks ideal for dunking done in a panini press for extra cheesy crunchiness Rueben - hot fully loaded pastrami sandwich with coleslaw Louie Salad - great composition - wrong shrimp no bay shrimp or shredded shrimp meat tasty and of good quality and size Servers were kind stellar and paid attention to the pace of food consumption. I will go here again and follow up as I think breakfast must be eaten here too.

Google
Great experience! Their brunch buffet was not open at the time so we ordered off the regular menu. The Nosher breakfast was perfect and just enough to keep my belly full but not stuffed. Their bacon is amazing and their basket of bakery goods was delicious. My husband said his omelette was one of the best he's had in a long time! I'll definitely be back to try their buffet!

Google
Solid breakfast in pleasant environment, albeit part of the Kingsley Hotel. A bit on the pricey side (eg, $15 for pancakes), but there are very few sit-down breakfast locations in this area. Combination of booths and tables. Good coffee. No Wi-Fi unless you are a guest of the hotel. Try the Sy Ginsberg Corn Beef Hash!

Karla S.

Yelp
Food was good and our server Allee was amazing!!!! We stayed at the Kingsley Inn and eat there several times! Definitely would recommend

Yelp
Pro - Service was the highlight of my dining experience. Friendly server. Easy access to the restaurant for guests of The Kingsley. Cons - The food was barely mediocre; it was clear more effort was put into the plating than the actual prep. Staying at The Kingsley and stopped in after a long day of travel with nothing more than airplane snacks so I wasn't looking for a gourmet experience- just wanted a solid lunch to stave off my hunger and left concluding that I could've gotten a better meal at the airport. Went for the turkey Reuben and it didn't taste like the person that cooked the sandwich has ever had a proper Reuben before. The sandwich was dry (very dry), bread was warmed (not toasted), tasted like the turkey & cheese had been warmed & melted in a microwave rather than on a grill or griddle. Overall the entire thing lacked flavor and it was evident that the fries had been sitting in a warmer for most of the day - all of this and there were a grand total of two customers in the restaurant at the time. Given how dead the restaurant was it shouldn't have taken too much effort to drop the fries in hot grease, at the least. Perhaps their strength is in other areas (I've seen a lot of good breakfast reviews?). In short, this meal felt lackluster and lazy.

Yelp
Our meals were average. My cinnamon roll was really good but not completely warmed up and cold areas throughout it while eating. The place appeared to be clean and had a cool look but we did have several gnats flying around us our whole breakfast. Our meals came out quickly but the server was not attentive. She didn't even refill our drinks one time.

Yelp
I loved the pictures of an old-fashioned diner with cute tile work, big booths, and a sweet-looking (pun intended) bakery case. The overall ambiance is the best part of the restaurant. Certainly, the food and service leave a lot to be desired. I visited at around noon so breakfast and lunch options were available. The Croque Madame casserole sounded fantastic, as did the BLT. However, I was in the mood for a deli sandwich and went with the Reuben sandwich, corned beef on toasted rye, with sauerkraut. I was very disappointed with the sandwich as there was less corned beef than expected (but more than shown in the photo). Consequently, it tasted more of sauerkraut than anything else. We were given a choice of waffles or regular fries - the regular fries tasted average. Service was equally disappointing. The server was slow, and I was ignored for much of the visit.

Yelp
So this is a review for takeout. I've been staying at the hotel for a week and have used them routinely for breakfast, lunch, and dinner... Very impressed. Food is always delicious and in large quantities... Service is friendly too! I feel very lucky that this is available to me at the hotel. Cheers.!

Yelp
Perfect spot for breakfast or lunch! Everything looked so yummy. We couldn't resist. Our tummies took over our brains and we ordered a Reuben, breakfast biscuit sandwich, matzo ball soup, and pancakes. Let me first say that the biscuit was incredible. Perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The diced jalapeño and cheddar mixed in made it FIRE! Not spicy but FIRE as in someone sound the alarm because I'm going to order a dozen. The Reuben sandwich had amazingly tender and perfectly sliced corned beef. Perfection. It came with fries that had an incredible sea salt on top. Just that. Sea salt. I don't know why but they tasted so bomb! The pancakes I suppose were our "brunch dessert". Our waiter deserves five stars because he gave us not a side cup of whipped cream but a bowl! Yes, that's what every place needs to do. Give us what we want. Give us the goodness!

Yelp
This is a super cute space with an expansive menu and good service. Hubby ordered a breakfast sandwich, which he loved, and I ordered avocado toast, which was also delicious. Hubby had a bloody Mary, which he declared to be delicious. I had coffee, which was also delicious. 10 out of 10, no notes.

Ken C.

Yelp
I can't believe this place doesn't have a 5 star review. This brunch was amazing! I had an omelet and my friend had blueberry pancakes. The pancakes were so fluffy and the best we've both ever had. The omelet was incredible as well. We shared the house made pop tart and it was superb. I will say the mimosa was a little small for the price, but was not drowned out with juice so acceptable. The Detroitish drink was amazing! 12/10! Will be back!
google avatar

Kaylee L.

Yelp
Zalman's wins the award for cutest brunch spot. The food is amazing and the ambience is aesthetically pleasing. This place feels like an old fashioned diner. My friend and I tried the mimosa flights. I ranked the flavors from my most favorite to least favorite as follows- mango, peach, blue raspberry, raspberry. Everyone who walked by our table ended up wanting them because the presentation was beautiful! There are a wide variety of bakery items to pick from including cheesecake, fruit tarts, homemade pop tarts, and rice krispy treats. I picked up a fruit tart and apple bourbon pop tart to take home. The pop tart was my absolute favorite out of everything I tried. It was soft and flaky and the apple filling was sweet. I also ordered some French toast to go. It was topped with strawberries, nuts, and powdered sugar. It was good!

Yelp
I honestly have no idea how long this place has been here. I've driven by a million times and never really noticed it. We received a coupon in the mail, so after seeking out where it was and what kind of place it was, we decided to give it a try. A definite case study for successful marketing! We went on a Friday evening and it was pretty quiet, which was good news for us. Our server, Marlena, was super friendly and attentive. There were a variety of things on the menu that caught our attention, so we decided to share several items. The first thing to come out was the Warm Bavarian Pretzel Bites. We tend to try soft pretzels whenever we seem them on a menu and these were top notch. The Naan Flatbread came out next and was also quite tasty. The Gourmet Mac & Cheese was next. I love a good mac and cheese - I prefer it to be nice and creamy and this one definitely achieved that. The last item was the Crispy Chicken & Cheddar Bites. These were definitely different than I expected. They had good flavor, but they were a little dry, too. The coupon we received was for dessert, so we took a couple of items to go and they were both good. This place definitely has old school diner vibes, so I look forward to coming back and trying the breakfast menu!

Yelp
Delightful is an understatement. First step in: the restaurant is gorgeous.-- It gives a very 1950s, bright diner vibe. I knew it was going to be good from there already, but we were greeted with a smile as soon as we walked in. Our waitress, Carrie, was phenomenal. She managed to bring us our food so quickly despite being so busy during the lunch rush, I was amazed. Not to mention-- the food was so delicious. I wish I would have taken more pictures but from the entree to the desserts, just wonderful! We will be coming back soon :)
google avatar

Kayal M.

Yelp
Although the ambiance was nice, the service was delayed. It took 30 minutes for them to give us the Pop-Tarts. We spoke to the manager, who talked to the server. The food was also amazing. The only reason I would come back was because the manager was helpful.

Yelp
I have been staying at the Kingsley hotel on and off for the past 3 months while on business in the area. While I have eaten breakfast, lunch & dinner numerous times at this eatery I never felt the desire to leave a review because the food good

Caitlin F.

Yelp
Food was great. Had the tomato soup and the Greek salad with chicken and shrimp. Service was friendly and fast. Nice decor and vibe to the place.
google avatar

Pallavi S.

Yelp
We used to love coming to Zalmans for their avocado toast back in 2021. We visited recently and their whole toast has changed . The bread they use is different, avocado on the sandwich feels cold and they now use hard boiled eggs instead of scrambled. I won't be back here to eat the avo toast. That being said they have delicious desserts. And order anything else to like the pancakes or eggs. Those are still pretty good! :)
google avatar

Marlene M M.

Yelp
When you are a visitor out of town, it's really wonderful to come across a place that satisfies every ounce of your sense experience. Breakfast is not usually a gourmand affair, let alone feeling like you've come back home. We've eaten at Zalman's three times and never have been disappointed. We've dined here for breakfast twice, and lunch once. The atmosphere is quite cozy. The is excellent. I believe the owner was quietly cruising around, glancing to make sure everyone was quite happy with their meals. It was quiet I think because everybody's face was in their plate, enjoying every morsel. I silently nodded with a big smile. He could definitely see my pleasure and move on The bakery is sublime and in the restaurant. We ended up purchasing a bumpy cake! It was delightful. No really, who could turn down a chocolate heaven with bumps made out of whipped cream and frosting.
google avatar

Bobby S.

Yelp
I came here last time I was in town and things were much better then. This time the breakfast potatoes came out with gobs of onions in them, with no mention of that prior to coming out. Then to get them swapped out for some without onions took a a while, toast and eggs were cold by the time the new potatoes came out. Service started out good and went downhill as they started getting busy. Food was still good all in all.
google avatar

Erik A.

Yelp
Over priced. Foods just ok. Service is awesome. Got the pork chop the hotel bartender recommended. It was tasteless. Just being honest. Got breakfast the next morning and everything was super greasy. Left a grease film in my mouth. Plus you could see the oil. Eggs were covered in it. Made my stomach hurt in 20 minutes.
google avatar

Ruben R.

Yelp
Cool brunch spot with an old school diner theme. Had the custom omelette and schnitzel sandwich, both very good. 4 stars because price was a bit high for breakfast but I guess it's just the area.

Robynn ..

Yelp
Excellent service and food. Clean and spacious. Quiet enough for a meeting. Will return.
google avatar

Chiara N.

Yelp
super yummy brunch!! the decor and vibe of the place is so cute. since it's so good it's quite crowded around noon (which is good!) but can make the ambiance seem a bit stressful and rushed. do not let this deter you, the food was really good, especially those potatoes!

Yelp
I'm so glad I finally came here! I've drove past this place hundreds of times without ever realizing where it is. It's connected to a hotel, so it was a little hard to find but I found it, nonetheless. I came in a Friday morning at 9 and I am so glad I made a reservation via OpenTables the night prior because they were slammed so early. Our server was friendly and made good recommendations on drinks and food. Note: it is a little more upscale/pricier if you're looking for a cheaper breakfast, this probably isn't the place to go. I ordered the "big" hash with no eggs. It was definitely the most fresh corned beef hash I've ever had but for the given portion, it was not big nor worth $15. My friend ordered the "giant" burrito and although she stated it was very hearty, it was not "giant". Our drinks, however we're delicious. The Hawaiian mimosa was a nice alternative to the typical mimosa I would order and it was strong. I would come for lunch or more drinks next time though. But I did leave still hungry this time coming.

Yelp
Love this place! Great for brunch! Highly recommend the avocado toast and the breakfast burrito. Both very tasty. Add avocado to the breakfast burrito. Coffee was good, and service was attentive.
google avatar

Dano R.

Yelp
A fantastic place for breakfast. Limited breakfast menu includes omelettes Corn beef hash & eggs, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, pancakes, etc. High quality food and good service is what you'll find here. Great place to meet someone for breakfast or lunch along Woodward Avenue.
google avatar

Christina O.

Yelp
LOVE Zalmans! A place for everyone - kids and adults alike. So many dessert options, great entrees, amazing/friendly staff. This is a weekend favorite for our fam.
google avatar

Donna L.

Yelp
Went here for brunch on our annual day after Christmas brunch with family and chose it because of location and online menu. None of us had been so it was new for all of us. I chose the super fruit bowl which as fruit, quinoa, coconut milk, and granola and it was amazing! Flavors blended together well and was filling. I also ordered the house made pop tart ( I'm a huge pop tart fan) and it was amazing. It tasted like a high end pop tart. The hubby ordered the French toast and everyone else got a variety or items and another pop tart. Everyone liked the food and the ambience so the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was mainly for the service. It was very slow and pretty much not very inspiring while placing your order. Other than that we loved everything else and will try again if just for the pop tart. You can get them to go!
google avatar

Stacey S.

Yelp
Service was amazing our food was great and I love the decor i will definitely be back
google avatar

Arturo F.

Yelp
Great new brunch addition to the area! The decor is cute, sort of a mix between old school diner and French bistro? I don't know, but it works. Their Bloody Mary was perfectly spiced, and the hash with eggs I ordered all was made fresh and delicious. Only reasons I knock down a star is it feels a bit pricey for breakfast food, and the server was slow to both greet us and then take our order. That said, it was still an overall good experience and I'll be back.
google avatar

Jamie L.

Yelp
My fave close by breakfast with or without kids, good latte, great eggs, decadent pastry!

Sherri N.

Yelp
We ordered 2 servings of the French toast on a Sunday morning. The picture looks amazing but unfortunately we got basic French toast. None of the toppings in the picture. It was decent but for the price it wasn't worth it.
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
Food is bland and flavorless, and the service was abysmal! Do not even bother coming. No silverware or napkin until I asked. The corned beef hash was so dry it was like bad meat flavored sawdust. My over easy egg was over hard. There were no peppers and onions. There were maybe 7 or 8 tiny mushy potatoes. The corn beef sandwich had the driest, saddest, looking shreds of corned beef and barely a pinch of sour kraut. The service was so horrible I nearly got up to get myself more water and my own bill. Let's make it worse...the women's restroom looked like someone exploded in it. Overall I really hate to write reviews like this but I'm hoping to save someone from being misled by their website and other reviews.

Katie K.

Yelp
Food is terrible quality and incredibly expensive. Better off going to a diner not hidden by cute decor.
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
Love the pastry/bakery display and elements. All of the selections we tried: rice, crispy treats, fun, Fetti cake, croissants, and a few others were delectable. Breakfast menu, however, was extremely limited, and the avocado toast was soggy. Service seems understaffed and short, took a while for coffee and menus. The location and ambiance is very nice tho! Will return

Margie

Yelp
Marlena was an excellent server and we had a great lunch! She greeted us warmly, and our Reuben sandwiches were served perfectly.
google avatar

steve P.

Yelp
Nice brunch spot! Good service, authentic food, and not too loud! Glad I heard about it

Julie B.

Yelp
We were staying at the Kingsley Hotel in Bloomfield Hills. Not familiar with the area we worried that we would not have a "go to" place for coffee and food. We were pleasantly surprised that starting at 6 am we could get coffee and a chai tea. On top of that, the food staff was warm and friendly each day. We had breakfast several times and the food was very good. Pricing seemed in line with today's prices, so nothing bad to say. The dessert looked amazing and the place had visitors from the hotel and outside. Very busy place which I like to see.

Thomas S.

Yelp
Under staffed. Over priced. Over rated. Stood around for nearly ten minutes before being seated. Once seated, the waitress ignored us. It's a bummer because I don't live far. Never be back.

Luke S.

Yelp
Insanely bad service and Overpriced food. Food quality is good but small serving sizes. Place used to be rly good, such a shame.
google avatar

Horace K.

Yelp
Many folk probably pass by this place often but only notice Joe Muer Seaford and the hotel. Zalman's is right in the middle. Usually only open for breakfast and lunch, they're open for dinner now too. Everything we tried on the dinner menu was great. The pork chop and the pasta Provençal were cooked perfectly. Damenique provided top notch service. Don't forget they have many tasty pastries and treats for dessert too.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
Doordash order. Wedge salad: there were 3 large, deep green Romaine hearts and the candied bacon was flawless. The dressing and sliced beefsteak tomatoes leave a little something to be desired. It was huge and filling. Burrito: not a ton of meat and the salsa was flavorless but the egg, potatoes and onion were perfect. I also ordered a latte but didn't get it. I think this restaurant is a bit pricey for the inconsistency but there were several elements that were just delicious. I'd eat here again and try something different.

M D.

Yelp
Waiter did not write down our order and managed to get 4/5 of the table wrong. He brought it back out again and 3/5 were still wrong. They added things to the avocado toast that were not on the menu. Beware and read carefully. After all that, they tried to charge full price for every meal.
google avatar

Yelp
Zalman's On Woodward was a great discovery through Yelp to feed my passion for dining out (no pun intended). We went there for breakfast and both had omelets. They were exceptional. The green peppers and onions in mine had been sautéed prior to adding the eggs which is the best way to prepare them. I watched the food being delivered to other tables. The French toast and pancakes looked great. The service was fast and extremely friendly. The manager was actively working to do whatever was needed to keep the flow going. I loved the decor. It had a bit of the 50s' and 60s' diner feel. An added benefit was watching a professional photography team taking photos of food. I highly recommend Zalman's for breakfast and will return.
google avatar

Jamie L.

Yelp
My go to for breakfast and birthday cakes. Kids love the homemade pop tarts and I dig the bumpy.
google avatar

Yasir K.

Yelp
Food taste delicious Very very friendly environment with a very excellent service Loved it & will come often in future Thank you v much

Leighanne H.

Yelp
Do not bother... Establishment was clean, Waitress friendly, but room temperature chilly. Waited way too long for our order (30 minutes+), 2 people, 2 dishes, dining room not busy. The Potato Frits were already cold when served. The other entree was a salad. Better places with quality food, service and experience within and near this community.
google avatar

Sean S.

Yelp
Really need to work on the service. Kind of a joke. Took almost 2 hours to have breakfast
google avatar

Kori M.

Yelp
Have only been here for dessert. We've had several of their pastries..my husband and I agree, the best dessert is apple caramel cheesecake. Really knowledgeable and helpful employees, super nice! And it funny that whoever complained about the restrooms-they're in the hotel so they are kept immaculate.

Michael S.

Yelp
We just had an amazing lunch at Zalmans. The food was fantastic, but the Heath Bar cheese cake was nothing but FANTASTIC. Leah our waitress was exceptional. We'll be coming back.
google avatar

Sidra E.

Yelp
Love the ambiance, food has improved from before, chai latte was so good. It is a little confusing to figure out who your server is as they keep changing, and messed up our order twice.
