The 31 Best Restaurants in Kolkata (Calcutta), India | Eater

"Zam Zam started out as a utilitarian working-class eatery in a narrow, obscure lane in central Kolkata’s Entally area. A few years ago, the restaurant launched a swanky family-friendly outpost in the Park Circus area. Most people go to Zam Zam for the gently spiced beef biryani (typically found at Muslim weddings in Kolkata) served with a spicy yogurt drink called borhani, and the luscious beef malai in which chunks of beef float in a pool of cream-laden gravy best mopped up with parathas. The beef rolls, crammed with smoky nuggets of chargrilled beef, are immensely popular too." - Priyadarshini Chatterjee

This is the oldest Zam Zam restaurant in Kolkata apart from Park Circus outlet. Food is delicious. Price is super reasonable. We had Beef Biriyani, Ghol, Salad.

Zam Zam started out a couple of decades ago in this locality. It has since opened elsewhere and also become renowned for biryani and other mughlai dishes. I had a mutton biryani, chicken bharta, butter naan, shahi tukra and phirni. All of them were great in taste especially the chicken bharta and desserts. The biryani was good but nothing extraordinary or worth remembering. Overall, I had a great time. The location is in the interiors and is difficult to find. Google Maps is of great aid here. It is not suitable to bring families here.

Myself Kabir Razi from Ranchi Jharkhand. Last month We went to Kolkata for a trip to Haji Shamser Bhai's place, we ate delicious Zamzam biryani and then we ordered for another meal . To be honest, the biryani was more tasty than the biryani we get in Jharkhand.Biryani is delicious and taste is unique from other restaurants. Most admirable part was our digestive system because after consuming these heavy meal our digestive system was stable .

We had beef biriyani , beef malai and firni. Biriyani was great and affordable. I like my biriyani rice to be less moist but it's a subjective opinion. Nonetheless, the biriyani is flavourful. The quantity in one plate is more than adequate for one person. The beef pieces in the biriyani were properly cooked. The gravy in beef malai was amazing. However, the beef pieces in it could've been more cooked. Firni was good too. Overall, a great hygienic place, both taste wise and price wise.

We had ordered 1 chicken biriyani, 2 beef biriyani, 1 beeg malai and 1 beef bhuna. In one word the food is excellent here. It's well cooked, full of aromatic spices. The beef is tender, soft and really fresh. The portion size is adequate for one. The seating area could well be improved and the interiors too. Its really dull on the inside which is nothing compared to the the one in Park Circus

Zamzam needs no introduction. This restaurant is famous for its cheap beef delicacies. The beef malai and shahi tukra are my all time favourites from the menu. NB there is a scarcity of parking space. If you are coming with a two wheeler, then it’s good. However if you bring a four wheeler it will be dangerously difficult to park. There is only one small spot for parking beside the restaurant. Also there is no AC in the restaurant. So I would recommend to pick up the dishes and enjoy at home.

Biriyani served here is very much salty and dry. Behaviour of the employees are good. Location of the shop is remote from the main road. I had to walk for 20 minutes . No public vehicle goes there.
