12 Atlanta Patios for an Outdoor Drink or Two | Eater

"Zama has multiple locations and each one is beloved for its colorful setting and laidback vibe. Grab a seat on the spacious patio under one of the umbrellas and enjoy an order of Queso Fundido Maya with crumbles of chorizo, carnitas, corn, and spicy salsa as well as an order or two of the Texas grilled nachos." - Vox Creative

I love the first time customer greetings that I received on my visit! Food was very fresh and had much flavor. Can't wait to return to try something new. My service was top notch. See ya soon.

Zama is a Mexican restaurant that will bring you to Cobb County. Nestled in a development with other restaurants, Starbucks and a Five Guys, Zama stands out as the anchor. Zama is not your run of the mill “hot plate” Mexican restaurant. They are working hard to attract Mexican fare foodies to Cobb County. The service is cheerful, swift but not overbearing. The menu is expansive and requires a bit of time to go over all of the different dishes. Broken out into categories the menu offers you many options from traditional all the way to the standard three taco plate favorites. The chips and salsa are addicting. Go ahead and add Zama to your favorites and put it on your rotation for some of the best Mexican food in Cobb County. Recommended

This was our first time and dinner was very good! I loved the fresh fruit drink and my carnitas! My husband loved his salmon. Patricio was our server and he was very kind, funny and attentive to our table. Oh.. I almost forgot to mention the Mexican street corn!!!! I loved it and there wasn’t a bite of it left on our plate. All in all we will be back the next time we are back in Georgia!

Google
A beautiful restaurant with kind people. The service was not the best. Our waitress walked away mid sentence 2-3 times, forgot to bring a box, wouldn’t let us order till she brought the drinks out.. she was sweet about it but it’s not the service I expect for a check close to $100. Drinks were good! I had a pina colada and my friend had a lemon drop martini. Ok, the food… mediocre at best for my Texas fajitas. Not much flavor to them. Corn wasn’t salted, steak wasn’t very tender either. Chicken was decent but really lacked seasonings. Rice and beans… same. My friend had pork on her plate and it was good! I should’ve ordered what she had. Anyway, I’d go back for the guacamole- it was fresh and delicious! And I’d also go back for the bar.

Google
My husband and I had lunch here last weekend and everything was amazing! The service Kimberly provided was perfect (we will be requesting her always). The manager, Juan even stopped by to thank us for coming and acknowledged it was our first time. I highly recommend this place for the food, atmosphere and service! We were also really surprised how affordable it was for their selection. We just moved to the Smyrna area and will definitely visit frequently.

Google
Our first visit. We were seated shortly after arriving at the Hostess station. Our server was very good. Our order was filled relatively fast. The food was tasty and hot upon arrival at the table. I did find it odd that only fountain drinks were refilled; iced teas are usually included. Prior to departure, we had an opportunity to speak with "Rosalio," the Hospitality Mgr. He provided us with a complimentary dessert and also a voucher for an appetizer to enjoy on our next visit. I promised that we would be returning.

This was my first time here and I enjoyed it. Everything was really good except for the salsa. Nice selection of drinks and food and the atmosphere was amazing!

Yelp
Had a day out with my dad and chose Zama because it was convenient and wouldn't derail our schedule. Honestly, I expected more considering the area it's in. Parking was decent -- free 2-hour street parking or the lot if you can find a spot (shared with nearby businesses). Inside, the entry felt cramped with people waiting, servers moving dishes, and guests coming and going. We went on a Saturday around 3 p.m., and it was busy. We were seated at a booth, but the menus were old and dingy -- faded to the point where you couldn't read parts of them. The menu itself offered plenty of variety, but nothing really stood out. We tried their mango margarita special, which was just okay. I ordered gorditas and only ate one -- very bland to me. My dad ordered the three-count Baja tacos and enjoyed them. Service was attentive and friendly, but the restaurant overall felt unkept. There was food and trash scattered around, and the bathroom was pretty bad. For an early dinner/late lunch, it worked, but it wasn't anything special. The bill came to about $70 with tip. A nice outing with my dad, but not a place I plan to return to.

Yelp
I love this place. It's a bit more elevated than a typical Mexican restaurant but has a family feel. Always hopping! The bartenders are great, and the food is delicious. Try the combo fajitas, which come on their own grill thingie. Plentiful parking next to the restaurant. Taco Tuesdays are super packed!

Yelp
Found a great place while we were in Smyrna. We were craving Mexican food and the Yelpers guided us here. It was an awesome evening so we sat outside on the patio. Quickly the staff offered to set up an umbrella to help block the setting sun. We started with a couple of Margaritas and chips and salsa. I can typically tell if the meal will be good based on the chips...and these were good. My wife got the steak chimichangas, which she enjoyed. I got some monster burrito with steak, chicken and shrimp. It must have been good because there was nothing left of it when I got done with it.

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious! I went here yesterday with my daughter for a bite to eat after one of my clients referred it to me. I was Not disappointed! They give you a plate of chips with a salsa dip for a free starter. If you're really hungry they do supply appetizers. My daughter wanted birria and we end up sharing it because it came with a portion of rice and beans and shes tiny I'm glad I didn't order anything else, I was stuffed! The service was quick and efficient. They continue to walk around and make sure your table is clear of mess and check on you so that was a great sign. It was a bit loud from the music. They had a Dj on the Saturday we visited. I don't know how often that happens so I can't say for sure what it's like on a weekday. Definitely will be back! Thanks a lot for the great food and service.

Yelp
We were in need of margaritas and great food since the weather was heating up. We stopped at Zama's and were not disappointed. From the service to the attentiveness throughout our time there, we will be back sooner than later. We had a slight mishap with the tropical bowl but the hospitality manager came out and brought a new fresh tropical bowl with no issue. I ordered the birria tacos in corn tortillas which are always good. The fresh guacamole had a slight kick to it but it was perfect for us. Everything we had was just great. The music and environment outside was great. No loud music or noises as we were enjoying the views of the west village. The patio was clean also. Definitely looking forward to returning and hopefully we get Paola again. She was so sweet and really took care of us the entire time we were there. Thank you all!

Yelp
I came in for the first time because I have some friends that rave about Zama, and I have to say it's rather underwhelming for their price point. The salsa is pretty good; it's the fire roasted tomato and dried guajillo chile variety. The chips are crisp. My waitress was very friendly and attentive. The interior has a visually appealing esthetic, and I particularly like the lights being suspended from ropes. However, my food came out very quickly, and the burrito had "microwaved" written all over it (so did the plate). The lettuce kinda felt sad, the tomatoes weren't ripe, there was hardly any "salsa de burrito" served with it, the chicken was stringy and chewy with no distinctive flavoring other than your typical stewed in tomatoes with salt & garlic powder like every other Mexican restaurant out there, and as you can see from the picture it was just covered in créma. All in all, if you're ok with average Mexican fare at a higher price, then this place will suit you just fine; at least the interior decorator had some personality when designing the space. Perhaps next time I'll try something else and discover a dish that isn't so basic.

Yelp
My friend invited me to dinner here recently and I enjoyed it very much. They share parking with a host of other businesses, but I had no problem finding a space. We didn't make reservations and were seated promptly. Our server was very pleasant. They had a large selection of margaritas and I decided on the Texas margarita. I probably wouldn't order this again. It contained a lot of sour mix and wasn't very fresh. To eat, I ordered the camarones deluxe without cheese and added mushrooms. The food was good overall. I'd definitely return if I'm in the area.

Yelp
I love how an impromptu visit can turn out to be one of the best ones ever decided. One of my best friends and I drove through some crappy weather to get to the restaurant. After a few wrong turns, we finally ended up at the location and got our drinks as well as grub on. We split a chips and salsa while waiting for our entrees. I went for the house margarita and the brisket chimichanga with a side of guacamole served in a chip bowl. Everything was delicious! I could have one or two margaritas after dinner if I wasn't so full. Our waitress was super sweet. She took our order and came to check on us periodically. Her bubbly personality caused us to have some conversations with her during her down time while she wasn't waiting on customers. I would go back if I'm in the area again.

Yelp
Excellent food, drinks, and appetizers! Plenty of food to take home. Great options for the kids and the kiddos get a balloon as they leave which is fun! I love that the guacamole is made fresh per order and the margaritas are big and tasty. Service was good and the restrooms are clean. Overall it's a great spot and I heard that cinco de mayo is a gooood time! Highly recommend and will visit again when in the area visiting

Yelp
Had a nice dinner. Chip's and salsa Always good. Got something different. Seafood burrito. Flavor was good, not great. Probably would get something else next time. But I've had a lot off this menu that was really good. Service is nice and atmosphere fun.

Yelp
The food was outstanding and the service was okay. My waitress wasnt very attentive to be honest. I always judge my initial reaction for a Mexican restaurant based on the chips and salsa. If you can win me over there, you are 60% in. They have an excellent lunch menu that includes a drink for $8.99. I had the house salad with two tacos. I almost didn't make it to my tacos because the salad was so good. That cilantro dressing and Chipotle dressing were both top tier. This is my new favorite spot.

Yelp
Food: Good Service: Awesome Ambiance: Always busy I come here because, they offer pretty good specials sometimes. I promise my bartender must work 7days a week because, no matter what part of this bar I sit on...I always always get the same guy so, he's my buddy now and know when I roll up that I want that Paradise Margarita

Yelp
As a vegetarian, sometimes the selection at Mexican restaurants is hit or miss. While I'm content with rice and beans, I don't LOVE when random veggies are haphazardly thrown into an enchilada for the sake of being "veg". However, this place's veggie menu is perfect. Lots of items to choose from, and the veggies used are actually cooked well and seasoned. They also have vegetarian friendly rice and beans that, once again, actually taste good! VERY impressed. Service was efficient and friendly. The only reason this place didn't get 5 stars from me is because it is LOUD. Reeeeaaalllllyyy loud music - like I was eating at a club.

Yelp
I went here a few months back to meetup with someone I hadn't seen in a while. This was a great place to meet and the inside space allows for time to talk with friends with comfort. Zama is located in the West Village plaza in Smryna which has plenty of parking for free. Parking can be spaces on the street, parking lot or even a garage. Once we arrived, we were instantly seated and waited on. Quick service makes it great for busy days in our own lives! Once we received our food, it was delicious! Nice and fresh and well plated! I will definitely return one day!

Yelp
Looks can be deceiving! I was tricked by all the good reviews. Was craving birria tacos and very disappointed. Absolutely no flavor. Just salt. The chips were burnt. Literally smelled them as soon as they were placed on the table. Their pina colada is advertised with strawberry puree in it and they got forgot. I've never been to a restaurant where just everything was bad. The rice was dry, the beans were a tasteless mush. I couldn't believe it. Even my friend's nachos' had barely any cheese on them and she had to ask for more queso. How do you mess up nachos? The service was fine up until it was time for the check. Took my plate and didn't return for 20 minutes. I was sure once she was done taking the table's order next to us she'd ask or hand us the check. Nope, walked right past us. We had to call her back. Ugh, just very disappointed.

Yelp
I came here during Cinco de Mayo weekend. There was a short wait time before I was seated. I started off with the Passion Fruit Daquiri, I'm usually a margarita girl but decided to try something new. It wasn't strong which I was fine with at that time. I next ordered the Mexican Meatballs which were okay. They're not bad but could use some more flavor. I decided to go with the fajita quesadillas for the entire which was the star of the show. I tend to stray away from quesadillas because they're usually bland but this one was so flavorful. I'm not sure if it's the addition of the peppers and onions or if it's the cheese they used but if you're going to get a quesadilla then make sure it's a fajita! This restaurant is nestled in a quiet neighborhood but the restaurant is very lively. There was a DJ present who was playing a variety of music which I enjoyed. There were so many things on the menu that I want to try so I will definitely be back. I will be adding this restaurant to my repeats.

Yelp
On November 26, 2024 we made a reservation for a large party for 19 people that was confirmed well in advance with the restaurant. Upon our arrival, they suddenly could find our reservation. Zama really dropped the ball and did nothing to accommodate the error. No worries, we quickly left and went over to South City Kitchen where they seated us on the spot! Zama, you lost nearly $1,000 that night to a dining competitor not to mention the fact that none of our party (all adults) will likely be back anytime soon to patronize your establishment!
google avatar

Alexandra M.

Yelp
We enjoyed Zama! We came here for a family lunch and it was great. The ambiance is welcoming for families and large groups and they even had balloon animals for the kids. The food came out quickly and was very tasty and the service was average for what you'd expect. We were seated very close to the door and host stand and with a group of 5 it felt tight and busy around us when there was more open space around the restaurant that may have been better.
google avatar

Ash C.

Yelp
The drinks and service are good, but the food is bland. Some of our food also came out cold.
google avatar

Crystal H.

Yelp
Came in on a Wednesday afternoon. I ordered the street corn but felt it needed a tad more toppings. My cousin said they were ok so it will depend on your taste of street corn. The gauc needed more salt. Very bland. The shrimp tacos got a tad better with the hot sauce and some pico but not my favorite. My cousin enjoyed her shrimp fajitas and mother in law enjoyed her fajita quesadilla. Service was very slow and it wasn't busy. The patio is a perfect setting for an afternoon.

Yelp
First time coming here and it was amazing. The decor was so pretty and soothing , being a former service industry person I was so impressed by the service we received from Tonny it was outstanding . The food was so delicious and presentation was so impressive. The ambiance was so pleasant. My friends and I really enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Dine in, 5 stars. Delivery, 2 stars. A few hours ago, ordered burrito, taquitos, chips, and salsa. The portion does not match what you get when you dine in. Lacking on cheese and sauce as well. Disappointed to say the least...

Yelp
Mexican food is one of my comfort foods that I can always count on to satisfy me, and this restaurant was no different! It is a busy, lively, and big space with bar, indoor, and outdoor seating. The server was nice and the food came out quick! Their menu is extensive with everything ranging from Tex-Mex, Authentic Mexican, American dishes and more. There is definitely something for everyone and the pricing is great! I ordered from their combinations list where everything was $11 for so much food! I enjoyed my dinner here and will be back to try something else on their menu! Queso: 10/10 I just love queso so much, i wanna be queso! Combo Tio: 8/10 One enchilada, one taco, mexican rice and beans. You can choose between beef or chicken, so I opted to do a beef taco and chicken enchilada. Everything was great, but the chicken was a bit tough and hard to eat, but besides that I enjoyed this combination and getting to try a bit of everything!

Yelp
This was my first time at Zama and it was delicious. I've heard great things about the food and their drinks, they have a huge menu! It was so hard trying to find something that I wanted, because everything sounded good. I ended up getting the seafood burrito (shrimp & tilapia) and the ceviche tostada, both were delicious. We also got drinks of course, the margaritas are strong and the mojitos are tasty as well. I would definitely come back and our server was very sweet. They have an outdoor patio that I would love to visit as well. Definitely recommend and I hope to come back soon.

Yelp
Excellent service. Great food and a real safe and at home kind of place. Daily specials as well.

Maria Belen S.

Yelp
The manager nancy is rude, treats employees and customers very poorly. Our waiter was amazing though.

Yelp
My grandbaby simple loves your food! She's only 2 yrs old, but knows the name of your restaurant

Yelp
I went to Zama for taco Tuesday! It was such a great time. This would be second time going and I enjoy the food and margarita every time. I went with my best friend and she also enjoyed herself. Taco Tuesday at Zama is an experience. There is a separate menu with tacos on it for taco Tuesday as they are discounted for this occasion. There was a balloon maker for the youth. It was a nice crowd in there as well The food was good. We both got tacos. The chicken tings was really good and so was the beef taco with mango in it surprisingly. There are 3 different sizes for margarita options. I definitely would recommend this place for your taco Tuesday place to be
google avatar

Cara E.

Yelp
We went to Zama for lunch today (Sunday) at about 12:30, and we were seated right away. It has a nice atmosphere, and it's located in a nice area. The menu is really long, but we went with pretty typical choices for us: - small cheese dip ($6.99) - burrito americano with ground beef ($11.99) - pollo nachos ($8.99) - large Zama margarita ($15) - large Dos Equis ($8.50) The food and drinks were really good, and we would come back here if we are in the area!

Megan L.

Yelp
We LOVE Zama!! We come here almost once a week. It's always busy but not too busy, food is always delicious and staff is great! Highly recommend! Oh and great margaritas!
google avatar

Katherine P.

Yelp
This place is amazing!!! I've been twice now with my boyfriend and we agreed they have the best cheese dip around. Their drinks are amazing too - especially the strawberry daiquiri, and we've loved every entree dish we've had. The only thing I don't love is it is always pretty packed inside and loud, but you can also sit outside if you want to avoid that. The staff is very kind and friendly each time I've been too! Highly recommend if you're in the mood for Mexican food.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm not really sure what to say about my experience here last night. Usually we have a great experience and can't wait to come back but for some reason last night was just awful.
google avatar

Yelp
Offering bottomless bowls of free chips and salsa is a fantastic way to get me to come to a restaurant repeatedly. Zama's gratis offerings are not only tasty - with corn chips on the thinner side and a super fresh pico de gallo - but servers will kindly ask if you want refills, a rare generosity these days. I love that there's ample seating both indoors and outdoors, and service has been brisk and courteous regardless of seating choice. My go-to order is the Tilapia Milanesa, which comes with TWO lightly breaded fillets, black beans, Mexican Cole slaw, and rice. That, along with all the chips and salsa, make for a tremendous value for its listed menu price and I never walk away hungry. Ordering a meal with adjustments (salad with "dressing on the side" or an extra cup of sauce) can be hard on the kitchen when they're busy, and we've had to give our servers a few reminders in the past, but they're always ready and willing to make things right. We also noted the misleading tip calculations at the bottom of our receipts, where the suggested amounts and percentages were notably higher than what the calculators said. My husband - the math whiz and the cynic - wasn't altogether pleased about it and considered saying something, but we both enjoyed our meals well enough that we decided against it. That being said, I figured it's worth mentioning in case anyone else might use those parts of the bill with any level of automaticity.

Yelp
So many tacos!!! This menu is the Mexican version of Cheesecake Factory's menu. There were so many pages filled with so many options. I wanted everything on the menu. The place was nice. We sat outside since it was nice out. The whole staff was friendly especially when it came to babies. They were very nice to all the babies that were present. Very nice to see. The waitress we super friendly. She did ask if this was our first time here & told us it was really good. While I feel like she was mostly obligated to say this, she did not lie. The spicy margarita was not on the main menu but they did have it available. It made mention of drink menu but I didn't ask about it. It was very good. They offer more rim covers than just salt & sugar. I had tajin on the rim to add an extra kick to it. Tostones with Pulled Chicken is a must have. I didn't expect the chicken to have to much flavor. I was pretty much full after that along with the chip & queso. At the time of this I haven't eaten the Desmechada but I am sure based on everything else it is good! The waitress even gave us a ticket to come back next time with a free appetizer. Will be back for sure!

Yelp
Awesome staff, great food and drinks, reasonable pricing and kid friendly! Located in a shopping center/apartment. Street parking is for 2 hours.

Yelp
Great cocktails and eats Check them out when you get a chance Great location with a patio The artwork is fabulous and the service impeccable And parking is easy
google avatar

Cassandra G.

Yelp
Zama is a good all-around Mexican spot especially on taco Tuesday where they will typically have a bunch of specials tacos and drink specials like $6.50 house margaritas etc. All the other drinks that are around $15 so Consider yourself informed :D I really enjoyed the piña colada it is so refreshing and creamy and delicious. I've also enjoyed the chicken quesadilla that has pulled chicken in it. The guacamole is quite nice as is the salsa and chips. I think overall there's a lot of good options here. There's also another location it's coming in Kennesaw as well as Marietta in Smyrna locations available.

Antoine G.

Yelp
Food was pretty good. The service was great. Ambiance is your typical Mexican restaurant. Drink's are great
google avatar

Chaya D.

Yelp
The food was the standard American Mexican food, no surprises or unique dishes on the menu. Unfortunately, the service was terrible that made the experience even worse. The place was crowded so the noise level was high which is understandable. I think this restaurant is for someone who lives in the area and doesn't want to drive too far and is just looking get some food with guac and salsa.
google avatar

Yelp
Zama is a MUST but only with Carolina!! Her energy, her presence, her smile, she created an entire experience for me and my 'friend'. He and I tipped on over to Zama after a 3 hour gym session, both craving Mexican! He got the mezcal margarita and I, the skinny. For dinner he ordered enchiladas and I had the seafood quesadillas. His enchiladas were divine, my quesadillas were a tad on the salty side but the rice and marg were lovely and as stated, the customer service from Carolina and her engaging demeanor made for an incredible evening. We laughed, we ate, we toasted; we were in good company. Would most definitely dine in again as long as Carolina is present! the hostess could learn a thing or two from her colleague!

Yelp
Great first experience. Food was deeeeelicious ! Prompt service, too. Easily recommended

Yelp
Great Tex mex style food, cool atmosphere, cheap drinks. Wish we would have came back again!

Yelp
Ummmmmm, this is the SPOT. My coworker and I came here after work one Friday. We apparently got super lit off their huge margaritas!! LOL. Food was very delicious. My favorite part was the guacamole that is made fresh tableside! It's legit sooo fresh. The chunks were so big. We were both laughing at the reviews where people were leaving bad reviews for finding "rocks" in their guac. Anyways, the food is great, atmosphere is good, and drinks are DELICIOUS. Maybe don't go crazy and get 3 different types of margaritas..... lol. They were so sweet, it didn't sit well after.
google avatar

Marlin S.

Yelp
This is very good Mexican restaurant. Good service, good drinks and good food. I went here based off of the reviews on Yelp and it didn't fail. It was jammed packed and I had to sit at the bar which was not a problem even though they were super crowded got my food and drinks quickly and it was good. Will be back. Definitely a must try.
google avatar

Patricia S.

Yelp
This place offers Authentic Mexican Food! Good service and a beautiful atmosphere. We truly enjoyed our experience as a small family of 3. Nice vibes and It's also kid friendly.
google avatar

Jeff C.

Yelp
Zak's is fire! I would consider it similar to La Parilla. Always busy and always consistent. This location specially is always packed including the bar. Definitely one of the better Mexican restaurants in the area. If you live in the area I would go here but it's not good enough to travel to for only coming here.

Shelby G.

Yelp
18$ burrito plus 3$ tip and I couldn't even get a fork or napkins on a TO GO order! Was staying at a hotel nearby, only to get to my room with disappointment.
google avatar

LeeAnn M.

Yelp
Have only been once for drinks and it wasn't bad. I don't live anywhere near here so not sure if I will ever be back to get to try the food but I would definitely give it a try.

Yelp
Came in for drinks, AMAZING! Now the issue came in is when I went to the restroom and saw an employee in there with their apron on. I'm a ServSafe Manager so when I reported it to the employee/manager nothing came from it. I was highly dissatisfied and bothered by the lack of response to this health code violation. I'm not sure the standard here but that is unacceptable and for the manager to just talk and not ask the employee to change his apron was a clear sign that health codes mean nothing to this establishment. I did speak with Itzel the manager and she reassured me that she would have a meeting at the end of the night to reiterate the policy even though we were informed that this is an ongoing issue they have been having with their staff.
