Zamas Hotel

We had one of the beach bungalows and it was pretty special - being able to open your front door and be directly on the beach was amazing. Listening to the waves, sitting on the patio watching the sea (and sunrise) was awesome. The hotel pre-dates a lot of the hotels along the beach road - we liked that, it was friendly and relaxed and had a peaceful feel - not as pretentious as some of the other hotels. It's quirky and retro/rustic but charming at the same time. As it's on the beach road, it's a couple of minutes walk to restaurants, convenience stores etc, so it's a good location all round.||Daniel and Fernando were very attentive and sweet and the rest of the staff were lovely too. The food was nice, everything was super clean, the shower was hot and had good water pressure (was pleasantly surprised as it was a beach bungalow), the bed was comfy, good air con - we had a lovely stay and would definitely stay there again if we came back to Tulum.||We came to Tulum around 10 years ago and the area has really exploded since then! We didn't recognise a lot of it (especially downtown) as it has developed so much. The beach road (where the hotel is located) is much busier with all the new hotels etc that have been built in the area (and louder and you can hear road noise at night as the rooms are quite close to the road, but after a night or so, you get used to it and it didn't bother us). It's nothing the hotel can do anything about, it's just the downside of area development unfortunately.||The only other thing which is a shame but again, not something the hotel can control either is the seaweed being brought onto the beach. There was only a little seaweed when we arrived but there was a storm while we were there and it brought in a LOT of seaweed, which made it harder to get into the water. Whether there could be arrangements to get it removed quicker (there was a poor guy with a wheelbarrow but really it needed much more than that). I agree with other reviews that it's not the best beach for swimming because of the seaweed but the beach is great for relaxing and you can still get into the water if you don't mind a bit of seaweed, my husband went in every day still!||Our room didn't have a TV, was ok for us as the weather was good and we were on the beach most of the time but might have been nice to have one if the weather wasn't up to much. A few more hooks / shelves would have been useful but other than these minor points, the hotel was spot on.

We had such a lovely stay! Villas are simple and comfortable. It was so nice to be right on the water and we really enjoyed the hammocks on the porch. We appreciated the provided drinking water and hot showers. The staff and owners are exceptional and gave us so many tips for our trip and helped us arrange travel, etc. We enjoyed watching birds from the common areas and a snorkel trip with the onsite dive shop. It was also great that there are convenience stores and other restaurants a quick walk down the road. Complimentary parking is also a huge plus!!

Zamas was exactly what we were looking for, it's not swanky or posh, just relaxing and perfect for a beach vacation. The huts are all on the sand, some are right on the beach and others are tucked into a little cove. All the rooms have their own little porch area with hammocks and they all have AC and plenty of hot water. The restaurant has a great happy hour and all their food was lovely, I highly recommend their Baja fish and shrimp tacos, and the chilaquiles for breakfast was perfect. It felt very safe for us and there was plenty to do close-by without having to take cabs or shuttles everywhere. The staff was amazing and were accommodating to any requests we had. Highly recommend, we would definitely go back to Zamas!

I recently stayed at Zamas Hotel and absolutely loved it! The location is perfect, making it easy to explore the area. The staff is amazing, super friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist. I also felt very safe knowing security is available 24 hours. The rooms are fantastic, comfortable and equipped with everything you need. The food and cocktails are great, and watching the sunset from the hotel is an unforgettable experience. I would love to go back and stay here again. Thanks to everyone at Zamas for making my visit so memorable!

I stayed in a beach cabana and what a relaxing time I had! Waking up to the sounds of the ocean and witnessing beautiful sunrises was wonderful! I also appreciated this hotel being in a more quiet area on the hotel strip, versus further south closer to more of the big beach clubs. The room was comfortable and had everything I needed. Complimentary purified water available. Also a mosquito net over the bed if insects sneak in. The staff at the hotel and restaurant were very warm and accommodating. Staying here made my solo trip to Tulum so relaxing and rewarding.

We recently stayed in this beautiful rustic hotel in a bungalow on the beach just steps from the ocean.|The staff are the absolute strength of this hotel with nothing too much trouble. We had a problem with our shower that was fixed promptly without any fuss. Daniel and Fernando lead a great team who are friendly, helpful and a pleasure to be around. The vibe of the hotel is laid back and stress free which enables you to chill 💯.|The food was freshly prepared and delicious 😋 with one a hell of a sea view! |We would fully recommend this hotel for a relaxing break with staff that want you to have the best time ❤️

They say they’re pet friendly, but have a large aggressive dog at the front desk. It terrified me and my husband, and I can’t believe they have that thing around children and other animals. It practically attacked my husband. Susan, the owner, apologized profusely to us, and said they normally “put him away” but no amount of apologies could make up for that negligence. My husband asked if he bites, as they have two large dogs roaming around, and she said “one of them does”. ONE OF THEM DOES? I paid EXTRA to bring my dog, just to almost have him attacked. Wifi doesn’t work, the toilet didn’t flush, (we had to open the lid and manually yank the chain), and the aggressive dog was just the final straw. Spend your money somewhere else, especially if you have kids or animals. We couldn’t even complain via whatsapp because the wifi didn’t work. Do better. I gave 2 stars because it wasn’t the most expensive, and has beach access, but the beach is covered in seaweed even in February, so we couldn’t swim.

Lovely stay at a beautiful beach and the Hotel Zamas for 4 days in early November. Everything was perfect and the staff was professional, friendly, and attentive to my every need. Too numerous to mention all the names of the team since everyone was wonderful. The luxury cabana right on the beach was great, with its front porch with chairs, hammock, chairs, very comfortable bed, small refrigerator, 5-gallon dispenser of purified water, steps away from the terrace restaurant/bar with excellent food from breakfast to dinner. It was just a short walk to enjoy the pool nestled in beautiful gardens. There was everything I needed at the Hotel Zamas to escape the troubles of the world and the sometimes chaotic rhythm of México Májico. Except to go to a couple of cenotes one day, I didn’t leave the hotel much, and even then, only within about 50 yards since there were shops, restaurants, bars, and even a 7 - Eleven just across the road. Downtown Tulum was not attractive to me, and I was happy to stay in my beach paradise to simply relax. I had a great time and can’t wait to return!
