Zankou Chicken

Zankou Chicken has some of the best chicken to be had. It is a chain. This one is kept very clean always and parking is not a bear. It is cute inside and out. The service is great. You never have to return your order. You can dine in, take away or have it delivered. We always dine in although they are always in to go boxes. We love all their chicken and their sides. It is supposed to be Mediterranean and I guess it is. They do have such dishes, but for us it is just great chicken. The chicken is always fresh and hot. We always get their half chicken plate, which is rotisserie chicken, served with hummus, tomatoes, garlic sauce, pickled turnips and pita bread. It is just the best. They also have great bowls. We love their chicken bowl with Kalamata olives, cilantro, feta cheese, two toppings and one sauce served over a bed of rice. You can have garlic sauce, hummus, or mutabbal. Their salads are also always fresh, crispy, and delicious. We especially like their cabbage salad that has cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions with a very nice olive oil and garlic dressing. Their sides are also excellent. Pickled turnips comes with most of the chicken dishes. Yummy. They also have wraps and deserts, but we have yet to try those, but they look good. You will really love this place so have fun.

I don’t get the hype?? Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, who knows. Garlic sauce is good but similar stuff exists elsewhere. It’s not bad but not worth traveling for.

kinda crazy atmosphere with so many people waiting to order in a small space. parking equally as crazy. pick up was super smooth though – in and out in less then a minute. food was a great portion and overall enjoyable. cucumber and tomato salad is really good and goes with everything. family meal was more than enough to feed 3 with a little to spare. 8/10

Originally founded it in 1962 in Beirut, the first location opened in Los Angeles in 1983. There are currently 12 locations scattered around Los Angeles. They are well known for their fast food, casual style specifically for their chicken and Shawarma meats. I have known about Zankou for many years but stopped in for my first time for lunch on Friday. They have a fairly large menu with a lot of great options, all with Middle Eastern flavors. They have many tables inside, but most people were getting it to go. They don’t have a parking lot but street parking is easy to find and there is a small strip mall next-door that has free parking as well. They were quite busy during their lunch service, but all of my food items came out very quickly after ordering. This is not the best chicken or Shawarma that I have had in Los Angeles, but it is still good. That is why I am giving a 4/5. I chose the combo plate for my meal, which is a mix of chicken and beef. I actually liked the beef a bit more than the chicken, I felt that it was juicier. The portion sizes here are very large and the pricing is very fair so it’s quite popular with families and those looking for a good deal. I would recommend and plan to be back to try more items. They are conveniently located all over town so finding one is very quick and easy.

This place was the first west LA branch for Zankou and it has always been a favorite. They have limited parking but there is always a smiling attendant there to help the patrons. Food is great. I am a big fan of the shawarma and the rotisserie chicken. They have also entered the Kabab market in the past few years. I always say stick to your core products.

Wow. The quality of the food was only exceeded by the service! I ordered the combo kabob plate and as good as the meat was, the chicken was even better. Delicious hummus, tzatziki, and garlic sauce for pita dipping topped it off. Not to mention the cucumber mint lemonade. Fabulous!

It was my first time trying this place. My husband and I loved it. Steak kabobs are a must have. The humus and salads are flavorful. Will definitely come again..customer service was great, and thank you for the recommendations. .

I order ahead online. When I arrived to pick up my order, they were preparing a very large catering order - literally half of the tables in the restaurant were already loaded with the catered food and kitchen staff were still prepping the rest of the order. Amazingly, my food was still ready only 5 minutes after my requested pick-up time!

Phenomenal food. Great stop for lunch during the work week. Garlic sauce is impeccable, chicken is always very juicy. Tabbouleh has the perfect amount of lemon. Friendly service as well!

Food is always fresh, hot, and flavorful! I like to get the kabob which takes a while to cook. I enjoy either the chicken kabob or chicken tarna, can't go wrong with either! Favorite sides are the hummus and tomato-cucumber salad. Make sure to get an extra cup of spicy sauce, too! Portions are generous and represent a good value. Counter service and they don't prompt you for a tip. Private free parking lot with an attendant, which deters loiterers.

Pretty gross. Chicken is salty af. Tri tip is inedible. I don't understand how anybody can eat this sh!t. Chicken place can't do chicken right. One star for the rice but that only tasted good bc they put a stick of Butter in it.

Had this place catered for an event and wow the flavors are great. I made a few pita wraps with the many varied meats and the mix of flavors and toppings between all the ingredients was absolutely fantastic! Highly recommend for catering.

First time at this particular location and it was a great experience! Fast n friendly service and my order was ready at the time promised - nice ! Portion size was more than adequate and they did not skimp on the pita bread - I got 2 slices ! Parking attendant on site to keep the riff raff out of their lot. Only negative : no cash tipping is allowed - weird !

I love this places Zankou Chicken Tarna Plate! I used to work down the street and everyone would go for lunch. The meat is perfectly seasoned. Not a single complaint. I brought friends from out of town and they still bring up how good the food there was, years later.

Zankous first opened up in 1983 and now has 12 locations to date. The restaurant is most well-known for their garlic sauce. What I ordered: Chicken Tarna $16.99 Falafel Special $3.69 I came in with high expectations as many people talk about Zankou as have pretty good Mediterranean food. The Chicken Tarna plate was so good and very filling as well. It easily could be shared by 2 people. I ate this for my lunch and dinner combined as I occasionally skip dinners to watch my weight. The hummus was pretty good and the garlic sauce was like crack. I couldn't stop dipping the chicken into the garlic sauce. I also liked the Tahini sauce. They give you two large pieces of pita bread and they are pretty big. It came with a garden salad which was a standard salad. I like how the tomatoes were diced. The falafel special was very good. It had a nice crunch outer layer with it being nice and soft in the inside. I dipped it int all the sauces (separately of course!) and it really elevated it even more. I will definitely come here when I'm craving some Mediterranean food.

Very good roast chicken soft and tender Whole chicken comes w/ 2 sauce choices and 2 slices of pita bread Kabobs was a bit dry. It was the size of a burrito. Fruit drinks are good, mix and match to enhance the flavor Service is awesome. Very friendly and accommodating Parking can get tight but available

I order Uber Eats from this place. The chicken was dry and over-cooked. The chicken wrap was okay; the only thing that made it okay was the garlic sauce which was very good. If you want a good rotisserie chicken, I would suggest going to Costco. Costco's chicken has much more flavor and is always great. I just wanted to try out this place, which I would not recommend.

Always loved coming here with my family and getting the family meal or the plates. Now I like to get the bowls as it has rice, meat, and two sides. Comes with a garlic sauce and one more sauce you get to choose. I get the hot sauce. Always parking in the lot. It is free valet but def tip

Zankou is the best middle eastern chicken with garlic sauce place. It's so good. Pro tip swap the regular salad for the tabouli on plates. The half chicken, tarna and really everything is amazing.

3.5 stars. An ex introduced me to Zankou nearly 20 years ago, and I remember thinking the food was cheap and good. Prices are higher now of course, but I still like the sides and the famous garlic sauce. The hummus, eggplant, tabbouleh, and cucumber salad are fresh and delicious - 4 stars. I'm not a fan of the meat or falafel. More often than not, the chicken and beef are dry and not very flavorful. TBH, there are plenty of options on Westwood Blvd if I want Mediterranean, and Zankou is not my first choice. The staff are friendly, but wait times can be long. Parking is also a pain.

I really enjoy going to zankou chicken because if it is really tasty and enjoyable, fresh food. I went yesterday to grab late dinner with my husband. It was less than 30 minutes before closing. It has changed how they serve their food and it's not how it was before. They serve the salads in a small container. It was just different so you have to ask for all the extras if you need. Our cashier was really nice. area doesn't seem to be the safest here so cautious and can be difficult during the day to find parking. I would still come to zankou chicken

This location is next to my gym. I order from the gym and I just have to pick up. Easy app to order from. The food is good. My favorite is the family meal, But you just have to cut the chicken yourself. Super tasty.

I recently visited Zankou, a place I've enjoyed many times in the past, but this time, I left with some mixed feelings. While the food remains flavorful, I did notice that the portion size, particularly with the Shawerma wrap, has noticeably decreased. I placed an online order for a Shawerma wrap, which in the past has always been a satisfying portion. However, when I picked it up this time, it felt much smaller--more like a light snack than a meal. Typically, I frequent California Chicken Cafe on Westwood because their portions and pricing are hard to beat. I believe that if Zankou hopes to retain its loyal patrons, it may want to reconsider this change in portion sizes to ensure the experience remains as fulfilling as before.

I haven't had such delicious, tender chicken and flavorful sides until coming to Zankou Chicken. My partner and I love to order ahead the family meal which comes with the a whole chicken, 2 large sides, small pickles, 4 sauces, and lots of pita bread. It's the perfect amount of food and makes great leftovers, all for a pretty affordable price. If you had to order 2 sides, their tzatziki and muttabal are the best to try.

While in Beverly Hills we wanted to have lunch. We found a Zankou, The food is always a hit. We had a little snag but Valerie stepped up to the plate. Had a great experience and the cooks are great

I usually love Zankou and have been a patron for years. I was disappointed with my order/delivery today. I ordered a family meal, but the chicken was considerably smaller than usual. Too small. So, it wasn't worth the price. Beware.

Slow to wait for in-store purchasing when we had made a call in order we had to wait in line like everyone else that was just ordering. So our food got cold kind of annoying why call it in?

I was shocked at just how good the food was here. Everything was extremely fresh, full of flavor and delicious! Also, the portions are generous! Good service. Highly recommended!

I have been coming to Zankou for over 20 years! By far my favorite! I highly recommend the chicken Tarna but everything else is equally as great! I wish they had more restaurants on the WESTSIDE

The chicken here is very good! Well-cooked and flavorful. The veggies are always fresh. Good portion sizes as well. I only order to go, so I can't speak on the service or ambiance. Will continue to be one of my go to spots when I'm craving grilled chicken.

Always a great experience here! We ordered the large family meal with 2 whole chickens and 4 large sides as well as an additional whole chicken and 2 sides and it could not have been more perfect! Ambiance clean and well lit with lots of windows and wonderful service and staff!!! Worth every penny! Will always patronize this location!

Service was great the guy behind the counter was polite. The place was mostly empty since they just opened. The food was good but not great. I feel like the portions were a bit small as previous times I have gone to Zankou Chicken. Probably won't be back to this establishment since there are plenty of other Mediterranean food places to eat around the area.

I have ordered food from Zankou Chicken for large parties several times! The food is always delicious, the staff we deal with are always polite and friendly. We truly enjoy their food and the variety of food. It is named Zankou Chicken, but they have a large variety of food to choose from! I highly recommend them!

Wow I don't usually eat Mediterranean food but this place is definitely so flavorful and filling. It's a bit on the pricey side but you're getting great quality food so I can't complain. The service is good and fast considering they were busy. Restaurant was packed and yet they kept everyone moving in and out at a good speed. This is definitely a place I would recommend I got the shawarma and tarna combo and both meats were amazing and full of flavor I'm a big fan of hummus so I ordered double on my plate no salad because I'm not trying to be healthy. Definitely try them out!

Just popped by to get some falafel for lunch today when I, and several others in line, were startled by a giant rat scurrying by the counter and right into the kitchen. The employees acted like nothing unusual had happened, which made it all that much more alarming.

Just ordered the full chicken and found it juicy and tender. The tabbouleh is more tasty and the garlic sauce is divine. This is an update and a great review BEC I think they care more about their cooking. Not salty at all. Delicious.

We stopped here Thursday to grab a bite to eat with my best friend that stay in Palms, and my girl love this spot. We had dinner here and I got the Shawerma Chicken plate this time. It was delicious as usual. Customer service kind of sucked this time. We ask for more garlic spread sauce for our chicken , and they act like they didn't want to give to us. Because I will pay for extras, I have no problem with that. BUt all in all. Its a small location, and we sat inside and enjoyed our meals. Ill be back no matter what. One of the only locations in West Los Angeles.

Ordered a bowl for delivery, it was delivered on time and sealed, BUT, for some reason the utensils were opened and the spoon was taken?? Weirdly unsanitary.

Always delicious at Zankou!!! Super fresh! Ambiance is always super well lit and clean. Service is always amazing I got the double chicken skewer plate with double cucumber salad. Everything was perfect.

Never had a bad experience with Zankous food or staff. Only with how clean the inside is. So that's why the 4 stars I'll say that right off the bat. Moving onto the food. I usually go with the chicken kebab sandwich/wrap. Marinated very well. The flavor is insane. SO SO good. Ask for pickled radish in the inside as well for more flavor. Tabbouleh from here is SOOOOOO fresh and absolutely great flavor. You cannot go wrong with it. Some places either put to much lemon or to much parsley and mint. This one is just right. The correct mixture. With that said. So I recommend them? Yes! This location is actually hard to park sometimes just be aware. They've got a very small parking lot.

I had Zankou Chicken once before, years ago in my childhood. I remember it being such a good meal, but idk, usually things don't live up to your memory of them. I was in LA briefly and I was in the mood for some Mediterranean food, so I decided to order a Chicken Tarna Plate from Zankou. Omg, it was just as good as I remembered. Every item on the plate was executed to the highest degree. The chicken was super juicy, and the garlic sauce (my favorite) super potent. The hummus and salad were very fresh as well. I can't believe I've lived all these years without returning to Zankou. It's an LA institution for a reason - I'll be back soon.

I recently had a terrible experience at this restaurant. When I tried to get the server's attention by saying 'hey,' she suddenly yelled at me, accusing me of saying 'hey, you,' which I never did. I was actually just trying to say 'hey' to catch her attention. She then told me that saying 'excuse me' would have been nicer. The whole interaction felt unnecessarily hostile and completely unprofessional. To make matters worse, the manager witnessed the entire situation and did nothing to address it. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, and I will definitely not be returning.

Coming here has been a tradition for my family and I since when I was just dating my husband. The food is delicious , a solid 5. Customer service , a 3. They are not friendly but get the job done. Ambiance, nothing special. Place is always freezing, even during rainy freezing February days.

I've been coming to Zankou chicken for a few years now. I recently ordered to go and the portion was crazy small. I remember coming and not being able to finish my plate. The shish portion was so little this time. I guess they have to adapt with inflation. Zankou is always delicious! My favorite plate is the shish. The rotisserie chicken is also very good here. You HAVE to ask for the garlic sauce on the side. Makes everything 10x better!

Their bread is stale. Old and tastes terrible. I felt sick to my stomach after eating it. On multiple occasions had the same experience. The employees are very polite. The meat is good.

Management MIA, service totally unacceptable, devastatingly slow. Food is fine but with so much equally affordable kabob avail nearby there's no need for zankou unless desperate. Save the headache & spend the extra $5 on delivery, Postmates deserves the cut over this brick & mortar location. Spent 5 entire minutes - 5!!!!! - waiting for my sitting-there pickup order. My presence was known & acknowledged, I stated I was picking up. There was 1 single guest to attend to at register, it's inexplicable. An older couple then steps up to grab their order at counter, cashier steps away from guy still @ register to shuffle around in their bag, won't grab my pickup when asked. Goes back to guest at register, old couple still waiting for god knows what, I'm also still waiting & restate I'm just picking up (and you're standing an arm's reach from the shelf with my order)... the inefficiency is baffling & the 2 cooks slowly shuffling around in background clearly available to quickly help customers w basic services like providing utensils & handing over pickup bags while the line of ppl waiting continues to grow only add to the frustration of the experience. Management, step it up - you've set up your employees for failure & your customers for dissatisfaction.

Haven't been to Zankou in years and I'm happy to say that it hasn't changed much! Placed my order online for pickup, which allowed me to bypass the line. I ordered a Quarter Dark Plate ($11.99), which comes with a choice of two sides and pita bread. I chose hummus and salad (which was some romaine lettuce, tomatoes and pickled turnips). The chicken was juicy but small, and I thought I would be hungry but the two pieces of pita helped to fill me up. You can choose two sauces - definitely get the garlic sauce. That garlic sauce is my entire reason to come to Zankou. We also had a Chicken Kabob Plate ($13.99), which comes with three sides and pita bread. Tahini was one of the sides, but you can also get it as one of your three mini side sauces and get something more filling. Their Chicken Tarna was one of my faves. Will have to come back for it! Parking sucks. There's a small lot, which is almost always full, which is why I've avoided this place for years. If you can get someone else to drive while you pick up, it helps alleviate the stress of finding a spot.

10 out of 10 for sure! The staff is always friendly and in a great mood. The dining area is always kept clean and luckily we always find a table to be able to sit and eat here. We tend to always get a family meal since it's a big enough to share for 4-5 people. The chicken is so delicious and juicy and it melts in your mouth. The basmati rice is also on point. I'm not sure why but I can just eat that rice just like that. Definitely worth coming and eating here if you're looking for something worth your money.

This is the 2nd time we ordered from Zankou. Love the food, prompt service for delivery! Except that delivery person places the bags of order OUTSIDE my condominium complex! Luckily he sent the picture and we were home!! I put direction for driver to BUZZ the unit for us to let him inside the building. Overall, the food we like and healthy! Will order again, keep up the good work! Thank YOU!
