Promotions Group Orders on Postmates | Eater

"A citywide favorite, Zankou is as Los Angeles as palm trees or the Hollywood sign. Feeding a group with the restaurant’s signature rotisserie chicken is the simplest move here, but it also wouldn’t be a Zankou meal without adding on a few kabobs, some shawerma, and its garlic sauce (no, you can’t order it by the gallon … yet)." - Robert Spuhler

Went here for lunch. Definitely one of my go to places when I am at the office for lunch. Food is good, good customer service and like the seating areas. The only thing is it’s pricey. Spent about $20 for a bowl and a beverage.

As someone who’s Lebanese, I find this food authentic—it tastes like it was prepared in a traditional way.

Google
Highly recommend this location. Nicest staff. Came on a Sunday so parking wasn’t bad, but during a week day I could imagine you’ll have to walk and or pay for parking. Very clean store, lots of windows, tons of seating inside. The kitchen is open and you can see everything happening. Very fresh food, lots of options and fair prices. Large portions. So much flavor and great presentation. Will return and highly recommend

Best best best i generaly hate to go out especially in downtown or in the Alvarado area where rats run rapid up and down the street and people stand out there blocking you from walking on the sidewalk. You have to walk on the street while the rats chase you these rats are so used to people in these swimmers that feed them because they eat themthose of you eating off them carts and pupusa and them tacos. Be aware that there’s rat meat in them.

I’ve always loved all the Zankou Chicken spots and this is a solid spot out of their other locations. I ordered their half chicken plate with cucumber salad with extra garlic sauce. The rotisserie chicken was cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly. Amazing flavor and the garlic sauce is a must have and what I love the most at Zankou. I’d definitely come back again and try their other menu items. Parking is very limited to street but worth the trip.

Google
Food was amazing. However, they missed 3 items from my order. I called the branch regarding the issue. A lady answered the phone and admitted she was the one packing the order and that she failed to read the whole receipt…. I told her i still want my food. 45 mins passed by, no call from Zankou. So I cancelled my order through UberEat. The lady, who packed my order is Darlene…

Clean, bright, with more salads on the menu. Old standby still gets it right!

Google
I ordered 1 chicken wrap to go and it took over 15 minutes. After 10 minutes I asked them about my order and the said they forgot about it. They gave me a free backlava for waiting so long. I go once a week and this is the first time in a while they’ve taken a long time to get my food out. I’m not sure how they missed this with all the computers and screens they have connected in that place.

Yelp
Ordered online, and delivery was quick. The family meal is the way to go for any family of 4 or 5. The portions are good, you will definitely have some leftovers. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. Nothing beats a bite of skin, juicy meat, rice inside a pita with garlic butter does! Mouth watering. At least that's how I eat it. You get your choice of two sides. We opted for rice which was buttery. You get a bag of pita, with small containers of garlic butter ( yum) and a container with pickled turnips and pepperonis. The service was great, our food was handled with care. It was really good and a must try!

Yelp
I have loved the Pasadena Zankou since it opened. However for this location in DTLA I find it overly expensive without the convenient family atmosphese. [Update: this has changed and online ordering directly with the DTLA location is now available which will save from third party charges] If you order online through Grubhub (even for pickup) and other third party services, you are litertally adding 20-30% to your order. The DTLA location for some reason doesnt not have it's native ordering witch has no additional cost at it's other locations. Zankou DTLA does not have the "family owned" feel, but will admit still tastes okay. Just stingy on a lot of things like sauces and ordering fees. As a DTLA veteran, I dont see this location lasting much longer. [Edit: I am rooting for Zankou to do well at any location]

Yelp
Food -- sucks. Man, this DTLA branch is such a disappointment. Last Tuesday, I treated a co-worker for Xmas lunch. I suggested Zankou and she never had Zankou before. I showed the menu and she said she'd like to try the chicken. I said, "Great! They are known for their delicious rotisserie chicken." I also highly recommended the garlic sauce. But, man, when we got our food, the chicken was pale and tasteless. And at the end of our meal, I asked my co-worker how her chicken was, and she said it wasn't that good. And she added that the garlic sauce made it good. Never again -- at least at this location. For the other locations, I am a fan of all the Zankou branches that I've visited or ordered in -- Burbank, Glendale, Van Nuys and West LA. But not the DTLA branch.

Yelp
This location looks so much better than all the other zankou locations I've been to. The inside is very modern and clean. The food is just as good as its always been. Nothing can beat that garlic sauce. The staff is very friendly and they have security in the store, which is so important in downtown LA. he is always watching for homeless people coming in. Overall a great place for lunch.

Yelp
I eat here at least twice a month! Zankou is one of my favorite places to eat! It's near my little community world. I love the meat, the rice, the tabouli, and the salads. When I'm doing low-carb, I love coming here and getting meat, hummus and tabouli. When I'm eating regular, I love just getting one of the plates to eat. I almost always love leftovers and always feel deliciously full. The service is wonderful! The ambience is simple but it's works totally well! Parking would be a little difficult, but it would work if I had somebody to run in as I pulled over outside.

Yelp
I like coming here for lunch when I'm in DTLA. It's walking distance from my office, super easy and pretty healthy. My favorite is the chicken tarna plate with cucumber salad, sometimes the cabbage salad, and mutabbal. Of all the meat options on the menu, the chicken tarna is the most flavorful and it's great with the garlic sauce. I've tried the chicken kabob and it was a little dry, so I don't recommend it. There isn't a ton of seating, so if you're going with a group, I recommend getting there a little before noon because there's always a huge rush around 12:10 p.m. and a lot of solo diners will take tables. You can also order in advance on the app and it's ready right away. It's an easy spot to go to with coworkers because most people can find something to eat. It's also on par with the rest of the prices in the area.

Yelp
I've had a few chances to revisit and based on my experience I feel an update to my review is fair. The food has been consistently good. The staff is attentive and friendly. Also, they do a good job of keeping the place clean. I'm a big fan of the bowls here. Glad to see the improvement from my first experience and will definitely make this a regular stop.
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
Zankou Chicken has always been my go-to for Mediterranean food. The beef lule and chicken kabob plate is a must! The meat is really tender and super flavorful I really enjoy the shawerma tarna combo too because I can make my own custom pita wrap And make sure you get the hummus and garlic sauce! Put it on anything and everything and I promise it'll be 1000x better The restaurant itself is super nice and spacious, definitely a lot nicer than the Pasadena location (only location I've been to). Service was on point too. Servers are helpful and really kind. Definitely check them out when you're in the area!
google avatar

Erik V.

Yelp
I feel like you can't go wrong with Zankou chicken, they always have a variety of options and the salads are always fresh. This location is efficient and the service is always good. I have tried their bowls, the salads and a wrap and I have enjoyed all of them! If you're craving a chicken or beef kabob and or roasted chicken, check this place out!

Yelp
Everything I have tried on the menu has been good or great. I particularly like their chicken and garlic sauce, which seem to be popular with just about everyone. Very glad to have this branch downtown.

Yelp
Good, standard Mediterranean food. Nothing mind-blowing about it though. Loved that you can order ahead for pickup on this app.

Yelp
Stopped in to grab a couple of side for a quick lunch, Mutabbal and Tabbouleh. The Tabbouleh is very flavorful. Mutabbal was just meh, lacking compared to others I have had. I'd return to try more. The inside dining area is very big, lots of table and appeared very clean. The staff members were helpful and friendly.

Jose B.

Yelp
I just left this location. I came in for a 16oz Tabbouleh salad. I am standing there waiting for the girl with glasses and a yellow shirt behind the counter to finish talking to her coworker who is a woman in a red shirt sitting at the seat directly across the counter and she could not have cared less that I was there. Such horrible service. When she finally makes her way to me she is still distracted by her conversation. I had a couple of questions and she gave me attitude as if I'm interrupting her. I place my order and I still had to wait for another 5 minutes just for a simple salad that's already made. There is no sense of urgency when assisting customers and they're not friendly. They act as if you're a burden. News flash without customers there is no business. I hope management talks to these employees.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to try this Zankou Chicken, which is in the former Koja Kitchen location. Got the Chicken Tarna with two cucumber salads and tzatziki sauce. Not quite as good as the Pasadena location that I'm used to going to, but still solid. I was kinda surprised the Tahini salad that I usually get wasn't here, which is why I got the cucumber salad. Either way, the food level was what I expect from Zankou. Service was fine, no complaints from me. Since I grabbed this to go, I didn't get a chance to actually eat here. But everything was very clean inside. Will have to eat here sometime.

Yelp
I got THE WORST food poisoning from this location. I've never experienced anything like it and I favor traveling to South East Asian and more adventurous countries so to experience what I experienced here was so crazy. I picked up the food directly from the establishment. It was across the street from a hotel I stay at frequently when I am in town for work. So I knew it was not tampered with by a food delivery service. The order was the chicken plate. Not sure if it was the salad part or the chicken but probably 3 hours after consumption everything came out and didn't not rest until 12 hours later. I haven't been able to shake this experience. It was the worst food experiences of my life. I don't ever see myself going back and I highly recommend additional sanitation for this place, especially since the location is not the best or cleanest.

Yelp
Zankou is an Armenian chained resturant which is known for their chicken and garlic butter. The food is a mix of Mediterranean and Caucasian cuisine. I have past by this location a few times, but never considered to give it a try. I have eaten at Zankou a few times at their other locations (West Hollywood and Glendale). They always have satisfying food and a relatively healthy option - especially after a workout. When I visited this location Sunday noon, it was empty. The staff were mainly deep cleaning the cashier area - like wiping down the screens. My food was delicious. I had their chicken bowl with Humus and Tabbouleh. It's what you would expect. The facility was clean and I wasn't bothered during my visit.
google avatar

Yelp
I love the food, service and cleanness of this fast food restaurant. The food is amazing I love the garlic sauce. I wish we had this restaurant in Northern California.
google avatar

Yelp
No frill, good medditerranean food. Good value and their garlic sauce is to die for.

Yelp
The dealer's room at Anime Expo has closed and there's a brief lull between the con goings and the afternight shenanigans. My body has suffered a dozen debuffs from a day in cosplay and I haven't eaten in about 24 hours. Every restaurant within a mile of the convention center is hopelessly fisted, overpriced, and just overall ngmi. Amidst all of this chaos, a newly opened Zankou chicken reaches down to rescue me. Was actually a bit more than a mile away, but definitely worth the wait. If you want a lot of delicious Mediterranean food at basically an okay price, it's hard to beat the classic chain found throughout LA. The side-dishes went great on the pita - I got to try both the muttabal and hummus and they were both good. The chicken was tasty and well-seasoned as always. Tabbouleh and tahini were both good. Honestly, none of these dishes were remarkable (ie, I could imagine comparable quality at many restaurants or even really good grocery stores), but every single dish was basically solid and good. This was also at a solid price point, at a clean dine-in restaurant, in a part of LA where both of those points are in short-supply! Also, Zankou's Chicken in DTLA might also be the only restaurant in DTLA with an actually well-lit eating area, yet another plus!! Highly recommended, especially if you're just hungry and in the area. Almost certainly the best option in the area for a "chain" restaurant as well.

Yelp
This place is always a good option when you're in the area and want a quick and healthy bite. The Lule wrap was good and the soda options are on the healthier side as well. The young lady, Martha, at the register was so kind, knowledgeable & professional in today's visit (Sunday Dec 8th 2024 at 4:30p.m) very clean tables and restrooms. The vibe is chill and love that there is a security on duty giving the dining space a more comfortable environment.

Yelp
I've been going to Zankou Chicken since I was a kid. My parents would bring me to the one in Pasadena and we would order a whole rotisserie chicken, pita bread and GARLIC SPREAD! It was a simple meal, but we loved it. When I finally went on my own, I begun to experiment with the menu and found that they had shawarma, kebabs and now, custom bowls! The bowls come with rice, a protein of your choice, 2 sides and 2 sauces. I love how you can customize your bowls any way you like it. The beef was cut straight off the spit, and very flavorful. I also enjoy the wraps, they're perfect for those times when I don't want to deal with chicken bones or when I need to eat something quick and on the go. I've tried a few of their other menu items, but I almost always go back to my childhood meal of chicken, pita bread and GARLIC SAUCE! So happy to have a location near my new home, where I can relive my childhood memories.

Yelp
Zankou!! Never disappoints when I come here I can't say no to Mediterranean food! Amazing flavor and great portions! My go to is the shish and chicken kebabs with tabbouleh and hummus! I love to make my own wraps Lay down some hummus, then garlic sauce, tabbouleh, rice, and then your protein. Top it all off with some harissa sauce and BAM! You got yourself a tasty little wrap Wish the garlic sauce was more garlicky but it definitely compliments their food!
google avatar

Christina P.

Yelp
Argelia was our server! She was the icing on the cake aside from the food being absolutely amazing. We had the half chicken plate a shish-kabob wrap and tri tip /chicken plate and a Falafel . Everything was delicious!! Thank you so much to Argelia for making our visit so enjoyable!
google avatar

Patrick S.

Yelp
Went for lunch and got a chicken kabob wrap. Tasted good , kind of on the smaller portion side for $13. But overall good taste. Lots of seating and clean location. Service staff was super nice A+. Food was served hot and timely. Chicken and garlic sauce is the best option i like. Humus is good also, for sure ill be back ....

Yelp
delicious fast services and beautiful restaurant nice workers with a huge smile and excellent attitude shift sunday afternoon

Yelp
On a busy street in downtown LA is zankou chicken. Food is good. Staff is friendly. There is a soda refill machine. Sauces and condiments are plentiful. Space is big. However there are so many loiterers and homeless people in the area, it makes it difficult to eat here. Restaurant has hired a security guard to keep non customers out. Pricing is fair. Food is flavorful esp the chicken tarna plate which seems to be popular. Not very busy generally
google avatar

Shant J.

Yelp
LADOT's local DASH bus skipped the stop by my job, so I power-walked to Zankou Chicken. ‍ This location opened after I left my last DTLA job, so I'm only just now trying it. Still good, and the order was ready quickly. I made it back in time to clock in.
google avatar

Jenny T.

Yelp
Tasty beef and chicken shawarma! The garlic sauce is so good and I wish it came in a larger portion - the red sauce is super spicy, so beware if you don't have a high spice tolerance. Service was helpful and friendly at this location, the inside is clean. The plate portions are generous and always at least two meals for me.
google avatar

Dianna M.

Yelp
I love Zankou Chicken & the chicken tarna wrap is my absolute favorite! I got a side of their new tzatziki and it did not disappoint- very delicious! The picked turnips that are complimentary are soooo yummy it's addictive! This Zankou is definitely a lot nicer than most- it has a very nice indoor seating design and is kept very clean. They are also always very consistent with the quality of their food. Staff is always friendly and overall just minding their business doing their job. There is security present on premises due to its location in a very heavily homeless populated area; but no inconveniences have ever occurred while I have been here. Will definitely return! :)
google avatar

Trammie D.

Yelp
I love this place. Main dish, sides and sauces are super delicious. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to try Mediterranean food. The only thing is when I googled to order online, it gave me only the options of third party to place a Togo order (ie: Grubhub, Uber Eats, etc.) the prices on their was surprisingly much more expensive then on the restaurant menu. I guess it makes sense since they need to charge more to cover third party services, but still, it's basically customer covering the fees. Pro tip: order on their own restaurant website! Much cheaper and easier! Plus extra sauces are free unlike Grubhub charging $0.75 for sauces! Never making that mistake again!
google avatar

Steven H.

Yelp
Freakin love Zankou. Amazing food, everything is fresh. Love their garlic sauce and the falafel is not dry and grainy. Highly recommend their shwarma plates.0 Service I received here was fantastic. This location is spacious and clean. 5 stars easy!

Yelp
No complaints here. I'm always a fan. I at least order the family meal here twice a month when I don't feel like cooking like that. I'll get the salad combinations too along with the hummus and rice. All very good and at a reasonably price. My only compliant is sometimes the pita bread dries out relatively quickly but that's a marginal flaw compared to everything else. Plates are always good. They even survive the reheat test. Zankou is definitely in my restaurant rotation list. As far as parking goes they do not validate. Parking on 7th street is tough, if you have a to go order you can likely leave your hazards in front of the restaurant and go pick it up. I recommend calling ahead or ordering on the Zankou app if that's the case because you will get ticketed quickly if the parking officers see you parked for a while. I swear I have no idea where they come at times, but it's happened to me before around Downtown. If you're dining inside find a lot to park at because street parking is few and far between. The One Wilshire building has a lot you can park at and you can take a quick walk over or just search along Hope/Grand. They do have security here since there are drifters that walk in but it's downtown so it's what it is.

Yelp
This is the most newest Zankou location and up to date and modern and just beautiful inside!!! I love mediterranean food and Zankou has always been a fave of mines! Their garlic sauce is so delicious i always like to spread it in my pita bread and add the meats and veggies and make a lil burrito!! The chicken, beef chicken tarna were so delicious i am so happy i got to reunite with Zankou! Parking Is a bit tough which is expected because it's downtown LA but a block or two away there's a parking structure where you can park at! There's also metered parking as well! Save room for dessert, the baklava is always a must! IG @haangrykitty

Yelp
delicious food. I had the tri tip shawarma, a side of garlic sauce, and a baklava. Everything was tasty. The garlic sauce is amazing. Love the texture and the deep savory notes it hits.

Yelp
Ive been a fan of Zankous Chicken for many years and was happy to know that a new location was opening closer to me and no longer had to drive to Anaheim, Glendale or Burbank. The space is pretty big and clean. Walked in and approched the counter. There were 2 people in the cooking area, one in the register area and one cleaning tables. We waited at the counter until the girl that was cleaning went behind it and took our order at the register. Honestly felt like we were bothering them. The young lady with the yellow shirt that took our order went to talk to the other girl that was filling cups with red chilipowder. The girl in the yellow started tasting the red powder with her fingers while the other girl kept pouring into the cups. Pretty sure you are supposed to be tryinh out the condiments and food during work? Waited a while since there seemed to be a large Uber Eats orther ahead of us. While waiting a homeless guy came in with his dirty cup and filled up at the fountain drinks area. The two girls in front were too busy chatting and didn't notice. We finally got our order anf noticed the bread was missing and asked for it. The food itself was below average compared to other locations. Chicken was dry and a bit bland. Also the extra side of pickels is super small compared to other locations. I may try this location again but pass on fountain drinks.

Nitin B.

Yelp
Great ambience, well-lit, easy to order, good menu, nice service. I plan to go there again soon to try out other items on their menu.
google avatar

Johnny C.

Yelp
I like places like this because it's exactly what it's supposed to be. The food is fresh and always hot. The prices are fair and the service is good. What more can you ask for in a to go counter. This is my go to when I'm in a hurry at work.
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Came across this place by chance and decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed! The food was not only delicious but very filling. The restaurant was clean and staff were great, will definitely come again.
google avatar

Erica S.

Yelp
I ordered the combo plate. I preferred the shish kebab over the chicken kebab. I really liked the cucumber mint lemonade and the falafel wrap. The baklava was very good as the customer service was as well.
google avatar

Edwin C.

Yelp
I'll start off by saying I love zankou, but this location is just not as good. Gave a several chances but portions are much less than other zankous and their chicken tarna is dry. Maybe I'll try it again down the road but not going to keep my hopes up.
google avatar

Evelyn A.

Yelp
I ordered through yelp thetri-tip shawerma wrap. Delicious. Made in a timely manner. Good price. $13. I always take my meals to go. However, from all the Zankou locations I've gone to the place is always clean. I appreciate that.
google avatar

Betancourt E.

Yelp
I mean what's not to like about Zankou. The place is clean, the service is fast and friendly and the chicken is the absolute best. The chicken is tender, seasoned to perfection, very juicy, can't beat this place when it come to chicken . When I'm craving a Mediterranean meal this is one of the place if not thee place for me . Thanks Zankou for being fabulous.
google avatar

Nancy L.

Yelp
I've been going to Zankou Chicken on Sunset Boulevard for years and this is one of my favorite restaurants for delicious, authentic Mediterranean food. The service is on point and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend Zankou Chicken. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
This Review is for Nicole the Catering Director, I dont know were to start from the minute I was introduced to her I have had nothing but great experiences. She always takes care of our company when we need a last minute request. The food is always delicious and most importantly on time. She always makes me feel at ease and ordering is so easy. I wish I could give her more than 5 stars. Thank you for everything you do!! We really appreciate it!

Yelp
Great Beef and Chicken kabobs. The pita bread good overall great place for Greek food.

Yelp
After eating at Sugar Fish across the street my friends and I felt hungry and stopped by Zankou Chicken. This location is big, clean and has plenty of seating. It looks so much better and modern than the one in my area. I ordered the chicken tarna plate and a few minutes later my plate was ready. Chicken Tarna Plate ($14) - This included freshly prepared chicken shawarma, 3 sides, pita bread and their creamy garlic sauce (toum). I went with 2 orders of hummus and an order of their mutabbul (grilled eggplant, garlic, tahini, and spices all mashed together). The chicken was tender and so flavorful and they didn't skimp on the portion. I really liked the hummus as it had the perfect creamy consistency. Overall, this was more food than a single person could eat, so I had plenty of left overs the next day. I'd recommend they offer 1 or 2 sides and lower the price by a few dollars. Overall I was really impressed with the chicken tarna here and the garlic sauce they provide here is one of the best that I have tried. It's so potent and goes perfectly with the chicken here. The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. This is a great place to go to get one's Mediterranean fix.

Yelp
Zankou Chicken is my top favourite food when I am in a mood to try out kabobs! Definitely the best in DTLA! I love how well cooked & flavourful is their chicken, well done with the juicy rice! Their roasted tomato is the highlight for me! Love the sides as well with variety in hummus! The service is quick & friendly! I am amazed how Argelia (one of the servers) remembers my order everytime & customises it to my liking! All of them are really warm!Reccomendations : Chicken Kabob Plate, Garlic Butter Humus
google avatar

James W.

Yelp
The simplicity of middle eastern cooking with the humble rotisserie chicken is what Zankou is all about here in Southern California. In a style layered with Garlic and other basic spices, this SoCal favorite can be ordered in pieces or simply take-away a whole chicken. This roast chicken has available the usual accompaniments such as pickled vegetables, a whipped garlic sauce, hummus, and pita. Also available are wraps, and beef luleh if chicken isn't your hankering. The Zankou chicken isn't the crispy rotisserie like others, and unlike others the subtle hint of middle eastern flavors is where this is at. Again, the seasoning isn't bold; it is a subtle blend to highlight the chicken and good alternative to other fast food. Weekday lunch time hours are especially busy so beware.

Yelp
I've driven past this location a few times and decided to give it a go. I had the half chicken with basmati rice and hummus. The chicken was good and the skin was crisp to perfection. The sides were OK but nothing to write home about. I plan on trying their kabobs next time but I'm sure they're just as good.
