Yelp
It breaks my heart to give this lovely grocery store a 2 rating, but a MEGA RUDE EMPLOYEE really left a DIRTY ROTTEN taste in my mouth and the manager had already left, so I couldn't resolve the way I was mistreated. I am a long-time customer and sometimes I even go out of my way to shop here for several reasons. I come from a family business, so I love to support family business, the meats are excellent, the variety of groceries is perfect and it's just a cozy cute warm place... that is when certain employees are not being jerks.
Everyone here is usually really cool (especially the butchers and deli), nice and even remember some of my items I frequently buy. However today one simple ACT OF RUDENESS made me re-think my loyalty to this grocery store. I mean I can't let one bad seed ruin my years of loyalty and recommendations though, but I can Justin Timberlake about it a little.
So, what happened? Let's get down to it. I usually love the soup here, but I have been stuck buying a soup that wasn't as delightful as it could be from time to time. One day while deciding on a soup I was talking to a nice elderly lady about it and she said "oh just put it in a sample cup and try a little before you buy it" so I said "wow, that is a genius idea darling". So, sometimes I do that if it's a soup I've never heard of and then buy the soup that I like. I did that today and I see an employee that often checks out my groceries staring nonstop in my direction like a psycho. Honestly it was very strange and demented looking. I THOUGHT HE WAS POSSESSED... and maybe I needed to google Nearby Exorcists, but then I figured maybe he has bad vision or maybe he has some sort of mental problems because if someone had a problem with what I was doing I would think they would just say "excuse me my wonderful loyal customer that spends thousands of dollars a month here, you are not allowed to do this and that even though we have no signs stating this", you never know. Anyway, I decide on a soup and fill up the cup and go over to the side to put the lid on it and some onions to it... then suddenly this employee appears next to me and in a degrading tone says "what are you snacking?" I'm like "Huh? No was just figuring out what soup I wanted and I have it right here" to which he replies "you're not allowed to sample the soup and EVERYONE IS LOOKING AT YOU" to which I say "well how am I supposed to know which soup I like and also I'm here every other day and you see me here all the time" to which he suggested I buy a little of each soup before buying a big soup? I'm like "You literally want me to buy less than a spoon full of each soup?" and then a fellow customer overheard his RUDENESS and said "IF YOU AREN'T ALLOWED TO SAMPLE THE SOUP WHY DON'T YOU PUT UP A NO SAMPLING SIGN UP" to which I said "EXACTLY" my fellow HERO OF A CUSTOMER left this employee speechless with no come back. Without an apology he pouted and marched away. I dunno if he was just having a bad day, which is okay as long as you don't take it out on me. All he had to do was say "oh man sorry you can't try the soups in a sample cup" it's so easy and simple to be kind. I would think that after so many years in business if you aren't allowed to do something there would be a sign up. There are -lots of grocery stores that let you sample, so how am I supposed to know the unposted rules? Also, like really going out of your way to make a customer feel bad about something they had no idea about? What's up with that? It's also a bad look when other customers come to my rescue against the Mr. Crabby. I'm not gonna call him out, he knows who he is. Just for next time if you need to tell a customer an un-posted rule, do it in a kind way.
