Zanzi Oakland

I was there this Wednesday for a Traditional bachata event. I had a blast! They did a class 9:15 to 10:15pm then the floor was open for social dancing. The staff and people who attended were super courteous and friendly. They have a nice long bar and some place to sit. I would definitely recommend it if you are into dancing bachata. 🕺

Went for the salsa night. It’s an okay crowd, mostly for people who are regulars so not really beginner friendly. The music was mostly timba/cuban salsa, so for those who like salsa romántica or salsa brava, there’s much better places.

I was there Saturday night. The event was nice except for me and my guests being insulted by this tall African guy who said he was head of security. The very tall security guard was very pleasant and respectful. This other gentleman greeted my friend by asking her “how much”. Then tried to intrude on our hanging out. He ultimately took the hint and left us alone, but it really ruined the evening for us.

Randomly popped in here and glad i did. I visited from Los Angeles and the dancing was on another level. Super fun! Great vibes for a Monday night.

Best place in Oakland for salsa dancing every Thursday night! Fantastic vibes, great music, and awesome instructor!

If the world was like Zanzi there would be no wars. People of all ages and types come together to dance a lot and drink a little. I recommend Sean Salsa Rueda every Thursday night and Kizomba dance on First Wednesdays, both have a great lesson then a dance.

Love this place. Great people, great energy. Fun for all ages.

Had a great time at Zanzi celebrating Oakland Diwali this past Friday. First of all, the place is nice with pretty purple lighting. There's a ton of open space downstairs with some booth seating at the end, and upstairs there's a second bar with additional seating. Over the course of the event, I had two drinks here. Both were good. My first was an amaretto sour for $14, and later on my friend and I got a beer and margarita for $22. It looks like most cocktails are in the mid $10s range, which is pretty standard for the area. I'll be back to check out the space on a normal night when there's no event. Curious if there's dancing here, since there's so much floor space.

This venue is gorgeous! Mek, the owner and staff at Zanzi are always gracious. They turned the old Era Art Bar into a new exciting bar/club in Uptown. I love the ambiance and vibe here. There is a VIP area upstairs where you can sit overlooking the dance floor. Check out their IG profile on what kind of events they booked which is always helpful. Parking is available on the street and a lot across the venue.

This is the first time I've come back to this location in over 8 years. This bar was previously called the Era Art Bar and Lounge and I used to go there for shows. Now 8-9 years later, I'm back because my friend's band was celebrating their 10th anniversary at this same location where they used to perform! I was curious about how things have changed. So I got together with friends to celebrate the band's 10th anniversary. We all took uber there and the place looks great after all these years. The small stage is now a spacious spot for seating a large group and we sat there. The band played on a small portable stage set up in front of the windows. Drinks are served in plastic cups. We ordered two Lagunita IPA's and two Moscow mules! There is plenty of seating on the second floor and in the back of the venue. The floor was perfect for dancing and watching the samba dancers perform as well! Great place for celebrating the anniversary of our friend's band and for the samba dance group's anniversary as well! I hope that my friend's band will come back here again to perform!

This is our 3rd time visiting due to a friend's referral and we love it! It is like a nightclub bar scene with loud Latin music. Buy in is $12 (venmo accepted). They will check ID so be sure to bring that with you. I appreciate that they have a huge water pitcher for those who are parched in between lessons and who are there purely to learn salsa and not get hammered. All ages, genders, and identities welcome! It's been such a friendly space so far; no creeps. Just folks trying to learn the Latin love dance. Yo this is the spot. The ladies and I went here to celebrate our friends birthday and had a fabulous time. We got there around 10:45 and the place wasn't packed but the music was going strong. The VIP area are spread throughout and based on your party size which is nice. We were at the top floor and our server Ashley did a phenomenal job not just with our table but all the VIPs. She was the only one y'all! The night had two DJs and while the first one was alright, the second bumped Afro beats and throwbacks. Towards the end there was more talking over the music but all in all it's a fantastic blackity Black space I will go to again and again.

I go there to salsa dance on Thursday nites, so I can't speak much about the food since I've never eaten there. The dancing there is spectacularly fun, and you don't need to bring a partner!!

I attended a concert here and thought the service was good, ambiance was great. I thought the music was too loud however

This place is not spacious enough to be a club and cover charges are too expensive for it offers. The music and the vibes is good. It's good for group parties and birthdays, but not a great place to meet people. Not casual enough.
