Zash Country Boutique hotel & SPA (Riposto, Italy) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"A number of Italian hotels are connected to wineries, but this one is a little different. Zash Country Boutique Hotel & Spa is set within the stone walls of a retired winery. The grape-growing part is no longer in operation — locally produced wines still flow freely here, rest assured — so you can actually sleep in the atmospheric former wine cellar, which has been gloriously restored, or in the old manor house facing Mount Etna and the ocean, or out amid the vineyards in glass-encased suites framed with citrus trees. There’s a rustic elegance to all sixteen suites, and the hotel features a small spa, a good restaurant, complimentary bikes for exploring the countryside, and a wide terrace that’s perfect for relaxing with a glass of Nero d’Avola after a day out on the nearby beach or touring the wine country." - Tablet Hotels

One of the most memorable and peaceful places we’ve stayed during our trip. The atmosphere is pure serenity. We deeply enjoyed the connection to nature, the calmness, the views of the volcano, and the refined yet warm design of the space. A heartfelt thank you to the management team — they thoughtfully accommodated all our requests and made our stay truly personal and unforgettable. We didn’t get a chance to try the Michelin-starred restaurant this time, but that’s the perfect reason to return.

We stayed for four nights in May 2025. Overall, we had a great time. The location is gorgeous with views of Etna and the sea. You are among citrus trees with sounds of nature. We had a spa room with a plunge pool with a lot of privacy. We had a dinner at the restaurant in our first night and it was excellent. The breakfast was good with good a good selection. Not sure if the hotel was shorthanded during our stay, but service was not on par with everything else. The front desk never came back to us on a couple of requests and we had to look for someone on a couple of occasions to get service at the pool. Overall, I would recommend the hotel and we would definitely consider going back.

I stayed at Zash with my wife and daughter for 5 days and we loved it. We stayed in a room with a small private garden just off the hotel (room 14) which was spacious and clean. The smell of the blossom each morning when we went outside was amazing as were the views, with lots of roaming space for our child who loved exploring and watching the lizards sunbathe. It's not a big hotel which means it never feels busy or rushed. Some people mention the train, but it's not a big deal and goes past in less than a second. I live in a city so the noise never woke me or bothered any of us. There is a slight vibration admittedly, but never woke me or my family (my daughter is a toddler). The staff were so always helpful and kind, especially to our daughter who enjoyed a hug with several of them and were always happy to make her warm milk or get her strawberries. Location is good with all the mains places not too far away (car hire is essential) I've seen some mixed reviews on here, but for me, I loved it and I've stayed at plenty of 5 star hotels. No hotel is perfect, but the staff, the food and the setting really made it for us. Thank you so much to everyone for our great stay, we will be back soon. Huw, Sunita and Penelope.

Relaxing experience overall. The rooms are comfortable with stunning views of the beautiful land. We enjoyed all of our dining options, for a few day trip we felt we had everything we needed on site. The view of Etna from the pool was really gorgeous. Our room had a private tiny pool which seemed to justify some of the high cost. We would love to return.

The hotel is marketed as a luxury experince with prices to match. It is heavily focused on design. Design can be comfortable as well as interesting and beautiful. Not really the case here. The pool suite we stayed in was a glass box. Super hot even with ac or sit in the gloom with curtains closed. ' Bath' towels ( no bath) were hanging in the loo. Sheets did not fit the bed. The sunlonger was v uncomfortable and if you lay against the cushion it fell into pool. No umbrella provided for shade. The pool was dirty as was the lounger. We requested a clean up but none was forthcoming.

Blissful and serene property for a slowcation between more hustle and bustle in one of the busier Sicily locales. The restaurant is world class and a friendly staff. Light on amenities but the staff couldn’t have been more attentive to assisting with arranging transport and advising on best ways to get around, schedule Etna tours etc.

A wonderful experience! The hotel itself is an authentic old wine domain. Beautiful atmosphere. Highs are the staff (best in class) and the Michelin restaurant of course. Rooms are super clean and modern. Highly recommended.

Stayed at Zash for a couple nights in a pool villa, and ate twice at the Michelin restaurant. Hotel: very nice room, spacious, it was lovely to wake up among the trees (although there were some “work ribbons" in some trees), very quiet and peaceful barring the occasional train but it didn’t bother me more than that). The staff was agreeable but not amazing. Despite having like 16 rooms, they kept asking for our room numbers which got tiring - I know I’m nit-picking here. They didn’t seem to be too much in a service mood at times. The spa was small, but nice with all necessities. Breakfast was limited in choice but was enough. The location was ok - Google Maps wouldn’t guide us to the right entrance for some reason, the town itself wasn’t lovely but we didn’t stay there for that. Restaurant: tried the vegetarian tasting menu and then à la carte. The tasting menu was a huge deception. It was intellectually dishonest and not thought through: most of the dishes were not original but rather fish or meat dishes proposed in the other menus, to which the fish/meat was removed. For example, we had asparagus with a béarnaise sauce, which are normally served with veal. Vegetarian tasting menus should be original, thought through, with interesting flavours. That was just lazy. We also went for the à la carte menu, where dishes were good.
