The Best Hotels in Sicily | Condé Nast Traveler

"Set beneath Mount Etna in labyrinthine citrus groves, Zash turns a former palmento into a destination that balances a peeling, peach-hued main house with photogenic Iconic Rooms and cubic Poolside Villas that pull clementine trees indoors. The dimly lit spa echoes the volcanic surroundings, and guests oscillate between spa and volcanic-rock pool before tucking into Giuseppe Raciti’s signature uovo poche croccante and soul-stirring pasta plates; book a room away from the train track for quieter rhythms." - Rosalyn Wikeley

Zash Country Boutique hotel & SPA (Riposto, Italy) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"A number of Italian hotels are connected to wineries, but this one is a little different. Zash Country Boutique Hotel & Spa is set within the stone walls of a retired winery. The grape-growing part is no longer in operation — locally produced wines still flow freely here, rest assured — so you can actually sleep in the atmospheric former wine cellar, which has been gloriously restored, or in the old manor house facing Mount Etna and the ocean, or out amid the vineyards in glass-encased suites framed with citrus trees. There’s a rustic elegance to all sixteen suites, and the hotel features a small spa, a good restaurant, complimentary bikes for exploring the countryside, and a wide terrace that’s perfect for relaxing with a glass of Nero d’Avola after a day out on the nearby beach or touring the wine country." - Tablet Hotels

Unfortunately, not worth the money in 2025. Our room in the villa was spacious and well designed (though a bit outdated — early 2000s style), but it was definitely not clean. There was hair on the floor and in the shower, and bird droppings on the sunbeds that were never removed during our three-night stay. The same applied to the pool area — the sunbed fabrics were dirty and looked neglected. The reception staff could have been friendlier. Be aware that there are train tracks directly behind the hotel — you can both hear and feel the trains passing. Overall, this stay might have been acceptable at a lower price, but for what we paid, it simply wasn’t worth it.

Hotel has a beautiful setting - Etna view on one side, sea cost on the other; the premises are surrounded by the citrus gardens. It’s an old mansion delicately restored; especially the dining area which was transformed from an old vinery. Restaurant itself is good, vine list is rich. So that’s all about the strong sides. |However, the place is nothing in common with feeling at home; seems it’s not designed to be a friendly “home away from home” - what I expected from a countryside hotel. It’s even surprising to meet so cold and official atmosphere in a countryside hotel. Yes, people do the job, but it’s very formal; as for me it is in the air. The final detail was on our party of 5 people departure - the restaurant was opening at 7.30; we were leaving with transfer at 7.45. So we just expected to sit with coffee and croissants for the breakfast together.. I came early, warning the guys in the kitchen gently that we are leaving soon; just it was no difficulty to pay a little attention to the matter; however, the people after 7.30 started setting the buffet with zero attention to the waiting guests. The way of communication - when we ask them to do smth for us - they just turned their backs to us and continued their slow motion around the kitchen and hall. Would like to say that I was super surprised how it is possible… |So, beautiful place, but never come there again. You feel like asking the staff for audience, and they estimate if you deserve it or not. |PS: Rooms are normal, but in my room 1 bathroom fittings were broken; room is acceptable , but not good.

We had a really lovely stay at Zash. The hotel grounds, especially the pool area, are beautiful with views of Etna. The rooms are simple and modern but perfectly comfortable. We enjoyed the food, particularly dinner, but found the service in the restaurant to be lacking. For a michelin starred restaurant at this price point, I expected the service to be a little more dialed in. Our massages were good but the spa itself could use a little maintenance. The pool jets were weak and the temperature was like cold bathwater. Overall, worth a stay if you're in the Etna area!

one of my favorite country resorts is located in a strategic point in Sicily between Catania and Taormina, the perfect place to relax and enjoy the spa and nature. the property has created a resort with touches of history and modernity our suite had a private jacuzzi pool and sauna and turkish bath area excellent room service and level of privacy the resort has a spa carved into the rock and a unique gourmet restaurant the chef knows how to amaze with simple dishes and excellent raw materials to try his crispy egg and his fresh pasta

One of the most memorable and peaceful places we’ve stayed during our trip. The atmosphere is pure serenity. We deeply enjoyed the connection to nature, the calmness, the views of the volcano, and the refined yet warm design of the space. A heartfelt thank you to the management team — they thoughtfully accommodated all our requests and made our stay truly personal and unforgettable. We didn’t get a chance to try the Michelin-starred restaurant this time, but that’s the perfect reason to return.

We stayed for four nights in May 2025. Overall, we had a great time. The location is gorgeous with views of Etna and the sea. You are among citrus trees with sounds of nature. We had a spa room with a plunge pool with a lot of privacy. We had a dinner at the restaurant in our first night and it was excellent. The breakfast was good with good a good selection. Not sure if the hotel was shorthanded during our stay, but service was not on par with everything else. The front desk never came back to us on a couple of requests and we had to look for someone on a couple of occasions to get service at the pool. Overall, I would recommend the hotel and we would definitely consider going back.

I stayed at Zash with my wife and daughter for 5 days and we loved it. We stayed in a room with a small private garden just off the hotel (room 14) which was spacious and clean. The smell of the blossom each morning when we went outside was amazing as were the views, with lots of roaming space for our child who loved exploring and watching the lizards sunbathe. It's not a big hotel which means it never feels busy or rushed. Some people mention the train, but it's not a big deal and goes past in less than a second. I live in a city so the noise never woke me or bothered any of us. There is a slight vibration admittedly, but never woke me or my family (my daughter is a toddler). The staff were so always helpful and kind, especially to our daughter who enjoyed a hug with several of them and were always happy to make her warm milk or get her strawberries. Location is good with all the mains places not too far away (car hire is essential) I've seen some mixed reviews on here, but for me, I loved it and I've stayed at plenty of 5 star hotels. No hotel is perfect, but the staff, the food and the setting really made it for us. Thank you so much to everyone for our great stay, we will be back soon. Huw, Sunita and Penelope.

Relaxing experience overall. The rooms are comfortable with stunning views of the beautiful land. We enjoyed all of our dining options, for a few day trip we felt we had everything we needed on site. The view of Etna from the pool was really gorgeous. Our room had a private tiny pool which seemed to justify some of the high cost. We would love to return.
