The Best Pizza in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"New England-style pizza and pepperoni cups have landed in Uptown’s Milan neighborhood, courtesy of Zander White and his food truck-turned-restaurant. White’s pizza is thin crust, with bubbly, crispy edges and a chewy center, a mashup of Neapolitan, New York, and Connecticut styles topped with the classics — nothing too crazy goes on the pizza here. Zee’s is undoubtedly one of the best pizzas in town, and the new, inviting space serves a bigger menu of whole pies, slices, and salads, and beer and wine." - Eater Staff

New Orleans’ Best Kid-Friendly Restaurants | Eater New Orleans

"The delicious Zee’s Pizza is one of the best pie-slingers in town, a highly-anticipated pop-up-turned-restaurant from Zander White. The colorful, industrial-style restaurant is adorned with comic book-style wall art, a good distraction for the kids while you wait for thin-crust, old-school New England pizza. Zee’s is known for pies covered in glistening cups of pepperoni, so if pepperoni wasn’t already your kids’ favorite, it might be now. Beer and wine for the adults." - Eater Staff

The 6 Most Anticipated New Orleans Restaurant Openings for Summer 2022 - Eater New Orleans

"Zander White first gained a following for his “old-school” New England-style pizza at Mid City brewery Zony Mash, which became an integral outdoor destination for beer, live music, and food pop-ups during the pandemic. Nearly two years later White is gearing up to open Zee’s Pizzeria in Uptown, where he’ll expand on the food truck menu with whole pies, slices, and salads, as well as beer and wine. Come late June, loyal fans will be able to enjoy the thin crust, chewy, and charred pies at the permanent shop." - Clair Lorell

Google
Order that pizza with garlic knots on the side, you won’t regret it! Great service and DELICIOUS pizza🍕 Justice was so kind and was very attentive of my order. He recommended the bye Felicia and WOW, I can see why it’s their best selling pizza!

Mary Decoteau

Google
The pizza is so delicious. Thin, crispy crusty but not cracker-like. Just really delicious. The sauce isn't too sweet - just perfect. Somewhat small seating area so def not a place for large groups. Lots of potential additions available. The Marg with some added ricotta was perfect.

Natalie Rodríguez

Google
Went to NOLA for the eras tour, the lady taking our order was the sweetest, she gave my little sister a friendship bracelet and shared recommendations, as for the food, some of the best pizza and garlic knots we've had in a while. I usually like a thicker crust but i was pleasantly surprised by their pizza. Absolute 10/10 and I can't wait to go again!

Melinda Vasquez

Google
Red Top Mag. Was the perfect amount of red sauce , cheese and basil. Atmosphere was super chill and laid-back. I would suggest to share a 16” pizza or get singles slices. They are pretty big.

Google
Great pizza, lovely people. But the restaurant is so noisy and chaotic. Not their fault they are popular and busy, it was just too much for us. So we took our pies to go and loved eating them back at our hotel. Definitely recommended.

Google
Small pizza diner located in a neighborhood across from Garden district. Would never have guess this place has AMAZING pizza and garlic knots. Pizza was cooked perfectly (slightly well done) and everything had amazing flavor. Staff was very nice and engaged in conversation. Leah was very kind and provided advice for first time tourists. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Google
My wife and I recently moved to NOLA from NJ. We've been gathering recommendations from locals and other pizza lovers, and finally came to Zee's. Easily the best pizza we've had out of the handful we've visited so far. We got a Pepperoni and a Red Top slice. The flavor was on point for each, the size was pretty good, and the crust was amazing. I would say the price point is still slightly higher than we are used to, but this place at least makes your money worth spending. Definitely plan to go back as much as possible! No pictures because we crushed the slices so fast 🍕 👍👍

Google
Not from New Orleans so I googled best pizza near New Orleans area and Zee’s was top choice. Well I decided to try this place out and was blown always at how good their pizza pies were. Well ordered a cheese and another one called bye Felisha (I think). Both were so good highly recommend

Yelp
Good service. Great pizza. On a road less traveled. Busy but steady food came out in good time Seemed to be a locals' fav.
google avatar

Yelp
I'd say it is the best pizza in the city. By a decent amount. You can tell the ingredients are quality and that the staff put passion into their work. The service is always good. It is a busy pizza joint. Depending on the day, you have to be lucky to get a table. Luckily, I come with just my wife and I so we can find a table easily but larger parties may have a harder time.

Yelp
The Dylan may be the best pizza I have ever tasted. The Dylan (red sauce, mozz, fresh mozz, onion and sausage for $23 a pie) has the perfect chew to the slightly charred NY-style crust, an ever so sweet sauce to balance the salty toppings and the sausage was quality and spaced just right. We were in town for a couple weeks and we ordered here weekly, trying out all of their pizza's. The Dylan was hands down the winner. Zee's, this review is short and sweet, but dang you are killing it.

Yelp
I ordered slices to go. (Which by the way they do not take slice orders over the phone. You have to walk in to order those, but it is quick.) I had two red top and two pepperoni. (I actually ordered three slices, but they gave me an extra one I think because they were closing soon. So THANK YOU!) Much appreciated. I also had a bottle of apple juice which always hits the spot. They also have a specialty slice, that changes. I will definitely be coming back here for full pie soon. Very nice staff too!

Yelp
Uptown pizza spot that sells pizza by the slice, but the down side is that they don't sell plain cheese pizza by the slice. Strange, right? Anyways, they do have pepperoni and margherita ("red top")pizza by the slice. Today, they also had the farmer pizza, which was a speciality vegetarian pizza. I tried one red top and one margherita. The pizza is New York style--thin, large slices. Very delicious. I waited about five minutes to receive my pizza after ordering. It's a small space with limited, indoor seating only. Also, there's only street parking.

Yelp
Incredible. Expensive. Cool vibes and nice staff. So happy I can walk there. It does take quite a long time but that's alright. It's worth it. Don't call though they won't answer. They are WAY too busy. Best to drop in, order and come back if you can't sit.
google avatar

Chassidy S.

Yelp
I always order pizza to go from Zee's, but one day, I'd like to dine in. I'm rather basic with my pizza, so I ordered the pepperoni pizza. It was delicious, and they don't skip on the toppings. Every bite of my pizza had pepperoni. Zee's becoming one of my favorite pizzerias in the city. They are quite busy, so be patient when you place your order. The food is definitely worth the wait, though.

Yelp
This was an absolute shock to me and possibly the best find of this trip. I had great oysters, excellent po boys, a cool steakhouse concept, killer sausages, and nothing could prepare me for this. We found NYC style pizza in New Orleans!!! What??? Opening the door to Zee's Pizzeria I knew immediately that it was going to be good. The scent that smacks you in the face was the pizzeria's of my youth. To say I was surprised would be an extreme understatement. The girl who helped us at the counter was very friendly and so was the guy who brought the pizza to the table. Cool little shop with old signs and stuff from around the area. Pepperoni Pizza was in the ballpark of $21 and a Peroni was $5. I was perfectly okay with both prices for what we got. The peroni was ice cold and had zero detection of skunk city (I get concerned with green bottled beers sometimes) and this pizza was just ... wow. The crust was crispy and delicious. The sauce was not overly sweet and it had a good amount of it. The cheese was tasty, and they tossed a little Parmesan over top of the pepperoni. This was seriously such a find. I saw they do pies with ricotta dallops and other fun toppings so I'm certain to go back next trip and try those out. Needless to say - Zee's Pizzeria - Didn't Suck! Yelp
I found my new favorite pizza in town! This is my first time ordering since they were a pop up. We ordered a whole supreme pie and it was so great! The proteins were perfect, the vegetables weren't soggy. The crust was nice and crispy. They were quick and so friendly! I went on a saints Sunday so it was crowded but it was still quick. It's a cool place. I'll be ordering my pizza from here on out!

Yelp
Best pizza in New Orleans! The Bye Felicia is dreamy! So glad to have found this place!
google avatar

Constance P.

Yelp
Always one of my favorite team lunch spots. We ordered the garlic knots, pepperoni pizza, red top, and bye Felicia. We have been a couple of times and normally not in love with the garlic knots. They had more garlic on it than usual and made it more to my liking! I have traveled in and out of the country and the bye Felicia is one of my favorites. Was just as amazing as it always is. This was my first time trying the red top. It is a fun twist on a margarita pizza. Still will always choose the bye Felicia though! Highly recommend to anyone looking for good pizza in New Orleans.

Yelp
I'd seen Zee's Pizzeria one random day on my insta feed and could not get the image of their pizza out of my head and just knew I had to try it. I ordered the Bye Felicia and a Caesar salad. Everyone in the store was extremely nice and welcoming and it was a fun vibe. Everything was *muah* *chef's kiss* sooo good. The pizza was amazing the ricotta, pepperoni and hot honey mix so well together to give the sweet and spicy taste. I will definitely be going again!!!!
google avatar

Khai N.

Yelp
Food, service, and ambiance are all perfect!!! Pizza was extra crispy. Fresh and made to order. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Tanzel S.

Yelp
The best pizza in New Orleans hands down! Pizza might be the one food I crave often and Zee's does it right. It's safe to say they satisfied my cravings. I had it fresh, straight out of the oven. The cheese, tomato sauce and dough where all perfect. If you are feeling pizza seriously give them a try.
google avatar

Tiffany F.

Yelp
I'm not a huge fan of vegan pizza and didn't love this one when I ate it hot, but when I reheated the leftovers and it was only lukewarm, the cheese actually had the texture of real cheese! Also, the employees were very nice. My friends really seemed to enjoy their nonvegan pizza.
google avatar

Paul C.

Yelp
Oh my god! Amazing pizza! We had the Bye Felicia pizza and was so good. Staff was amazing! go!!!
google avatar

Neil U.

Yelp
The best pizza around. I come here every chance I get. Order a pie and sit in to eat. So good. I ordered it well-done. Half Dylan and half Bye-Felicia.
google avatar

Courtney K.

Yelp
Zee's still slays!! Even after eating great food at French Quarter Fest, all I could think about was the Bye Felicia. The crust is simply the best in the city. And the garlic knots were already awesome, but now they are even more incredible! Service is always so friendly no matter how slammed they are. If you haven't tried Zee's yet, you absolutely must!
google avatar

Angela O.

Yelp
Great experience! Delicious food and efficient service. Treat yourself to a real New Orleans food experience!
google avatar

Juliette M.

Yelp
The hype is REAL! Definitely the best pizza that I have had in New Orleans. As a pizza lover myself having tried many spots around, this has been my favorite. I ordered the "Bye Felicia" and loved the hot honey on top. As for the restaurant, it is a typical pizza joint. You order at the front and seat yourself. The vibe is very casual. Will be back soon!

Yelp
Oh my God was great discovery uptown near Touro Hospital. I'm having surgery tomorrow morning and this was a great sendoff incredible New York style thin crust, pepperoni and sausage pizza that absolutely melts in your mouth. This is going on my list. I want top pizza places in the city.
google avatar

Jared B.

Yelp
Came for pizza tonight after finding it on Yelp. Did not disappoint. I had the Bye Felicia pizza which is red sauce, mozzarella, ricotta, pepperoni, and hot honey. This pizza tasted so good. Never had honey on a pizza but after that first bite I was sold. Will definitely be back if I'm ever in New Orleans.
google avatar

Jason D.

Yelp
Might be the unofficial best pizza in Louisiana. They completely pull off that New York vibe. The crust is amazing and the flavors are well combined. It's a fresh as it gets.
google avatar

Brian C.

Yelp
This is very good pizza, with a thin crispy tasty crust and good toppings. Nothing overpowers - not the cheese, sauce, crust, pepperoni, or really anything. Definitely a NY/Northeast style and it holds up to most slice shops in NYC although the slices are smaller than some you might find in the city. Okay, they're plenty big but just not quite as huge as many NYC slice shops where you have no choice but to "fold". The ambience is casual with ordering at the counter from very friendly people and there are some 2 & 4-top tables plus a longer high-top table with about 4 stools on each side and some wall/window seating also on high stools. You can get a couple slice options at $3.75/slice or a whole pie for $18-25 depending on toppings. For me personally, I probably prefer Pizza/Domenica (Neopolitan style) or the new St. Pizza (NY style) slightly but let's be honest - they're all very good in different ways. More pizza is ALWAYS a good thing, and thankfully NOLA is no longer as much of a pizza wasteland as it was maybe 12-15 years ago. When you visit Zee's you must also go next door and get some ice cream at Lucy Boone's. That's a pretty awesome day.

Abbe L.

Yelp
Some delicious pizza!!! And kind people too! I had the red top marg added pepperoni and sausage! So daggum tasty!!! RUN don't walk and go get you a pie here!
google avatar

Swati S.

Yelp
Delicious! My crew loved the pizza and ranked it higher than this other famous place in the Bywater. The garlic knots were out of this world! And the pizza sauce was flavorful. Service was kind and the vibe was chill.
google avatar

Priscilla R.

Yelp
Finally checked out Zee's after being told by everyone I had to go and it was great! If you like a not too thin slice of pizza that still holds up with the weight of the toppings this is it! The place is relatively small but good for small groups or take out! We tried the Buffalo chicken, pepperoni, and Bye Felicia with a Caesar salad and garlic knots and it was all super yummy and didn't take too long to come out! The Buffalo chicken was hands down the favorite! And their hot honey is HOT but you keep going back for more! They did forget to bring out or salads and garlic knots but I'm not docking them a star because we eventually got it and their customer service was ON POINT bc the lady that took our order gave us a couple drinks and sauces on the house for the wait! Definitely try it out it's worth a trip!
google avatar

Jena L.

Yelp
I was looking for pizza to satisfy my kiddo and this fit the bill. Ordered the Bye Felicia with a Caesar salad and it did not disappoint. Everything came out quick and was delicious! Highly recommend if in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
We finally made it to Zee's!! After hearing about it as a popup and then as a brick and mortar we had our first Zee's pizza. We went around 6 on a Saturday night and it was popping! We got in line and were told it would be a 45 minute wait for a pizza. We each ordered a drink, a Bye Felicia, and garlic knots to go. Approximately 45 minutes later we had our pizza and had to wait an Uber ride to enjoy the pizza. The pizza was amazing and I had gotten a side of the Calabrian chili emulsion. The cup pepperoni, mozzarella, ricotta and hot honey was well worth the wait. The garlic knots were generously sprinkled with garlic, cheese, and parsley and the accompanying marinara was so flavorful. We will definitely be going back!
google avatar

Kristen J.

Yelp
The first time I came here the pizza was great! But the last few times I have waited 1 hour and 30 minutes for an overcooked, practically burnt pizza. At this high price point and considering the wait, it's not worth it unfortunately.
google avatar

N T.

Yelp
This place rocks! We came in because we are looking at buying in the area and wanted to get a feel for the area. The pizza was delicious and the customer service was awesome. The owner actually was there, working and took our order. He was super nice and informed about the area. We asked him several questions and he knew all the answers. He is a Celtics fan, but I won't hold that against him.

jason s.

Yelp
I have been many times going back to the truck. This is great pizza ! Not just for the area but great pizza for any city
google avatar

Yelp
COULD EASILY BECOME A LOCAL INSTITUTION 1. Atmosphere: a great local old school vibe like the Boot, Bulldog, Fat Harry's, Cooter's, etc.; and unbelievably achieved in less than one year (See Pic). 2. Service: quintessentially uptown - confident, offhandedly friendly. While I was there the guy working the register also found time to clean the front door, bus tables, sort the condiment bar... 3. Food: reminds me of a classic Chicago thin crust - without the giardiniera. Only request: it would be nice to have fountain soft drinks. PROTIP: try the reasonably priced Happy Hour (See Pic)

Yelp
Ate here last night and believe me when I say...the hype is real. The restaurant is nice and cozy, lots of families sitting in and taking out with a solid amount of pickups filing in. The staff is nice and friendly and on top of their game which makes this place churn out some seriously incredible pizza. We got the Bye Felicia and I swear to you the pizza could help you levitate off the ground from the nirvana it would put you in. Pepperoni ,ricotta, and hot honey just goes together so damn perfect. We will 100% be back as this place has skyrocketed into a top 3 pizza spot for me in the city.
google avatar

Nina M.

Yelp
Pizza was amazing! We ordered the 'bye Felicia' and it was so yummy- pepperoni, ricotta and hot honey. We found this as a recommendation from Kelsey a from the bachelor and she knows her pizza! We were hoping for a sighting but we'll try again next time we're in town! ;)

Chad F.

Yelp
Just order a pizza, you'll know when you take a bite. Amazing crust, cheese and sauce!! And, if you have to wait a minute for your pizza they will buy you a beverage while you wait... Really great business!! Please support them. They really care about their product. The crust is awesome and cooked perfectly. The cheese and sauce they use is perfect for the pizzas! Please order Zee's!!

Amber A.

Yelp
Went in for a slice at lunch and it was some of the best pizza I've ever had, especially in New Orleans. Friendly staff and fast service. I went in alone and didn't feel awkward as there was plenty of table and window seating. Went a few weeks later for a take-home pizza and again loved it. Definitely will be back.
google avatar

meron R.

Yelp
There's no doubt this place is hands down the best pizza in New Orleans and probably the state of Louisiana. If Zees was in Nj or NYC they'd be mentioned as a excellent place to get pizza.
google avatar

Luis R.

Yelp
Being from New York, I didn't have high expectations. I was wrong. The pizza is not NY style pizza, but was no less delish.
google avatar

Drew W.

Yelp
It has very little flavor. Crust is like the Pillsbury pizza crust in a can. Sauce is just unseasoned tomato sauce. Overall a very bland pizza that wasn't very hot when I got it despite having waited inside for it to cook. It was cold by the time I made it home 10 minutes later. Not worth the high price for sure.
google avatar

Meghan D.

Yelp
Zee's is top notch and my favorite pizza place in New Orleans! I always order the Bye Felicia. It has red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, ricotta, and hot honey. This pizza is SO GOOD and does not compare to other pizzas in New Orleans. I will definitely keep coming back to Zee's!
google avatar

Diana T.

Yelp
This is it guys, the pizza I've been craving since moving here from the Northeast. Nothing beats cup'n'char and this place does it. The only downside I see is that they're closed on Monday and Tuesday.
google avatar

Gabriel N.

Yelp
There are things you can rely on - a basic pizza from Dominica, fat boy pizza, reginellis... and those are "ok." Then there is Zee's pizza. It cannot be placed in a category with any other pizza restaurant in New Orleans. It's closest competitor is Juliana's in Dumbo, Brooklyn NYC. Perfect dough. Purist-approved sauces. High quality toppings. Take it home, order in... you can't go wrong. Kudos to a Franklin grad running an exceptional business that will have a name for itself for a very long time. Keep it up, Zander!
google avatar

Alexandra E.

Yelp
Hands down the best pizza in town. I've been wanting to try this place since they had popups at Zony Mash but they always sold out. And now I understand why! The quality and flavors are out of this world. So great to see they have their own brick and mortar now. We headed here for Sunday dinner, we were told it was going to be about a 40-minute wait and boy was it worth it. We got the Bye Felicia pie with pepperoni cups, ricotta and hot honey. It was all we wanted and more. The crust was crispy but soft enough to fold and eat like a "taco". The hot honey drizzle was a unique and delicious touch. We will be back soon to try the other pies and sides.
google avatar

Yelp
There are plenty of places in New Orleans where one can get "a" pizza; but pizza of the level of quality that such a food city demands is not in high supply. This place offers a NY-ish style with large slices for sale, as well as whole pie. I did not uncover this detail in my research, but apparently they have a 2-4 PM happy hour with a robust 40% discount, at least on slices, salads and apps. Having walked in at 2:05, I felt very good about this, and got a substantial salad, a couple of large slices, and some side items for $12 plus tip. The crust is what really sets the flavor apart. One walks by bags of high-gluten, high-quality flour on the way to the restrooms in the back (which are shared with the neighboring ice creamery). A slightly sour, slightly charred creation, the crust is flavorful as well as floppy. I probably overdid it in getting a sachet of pickled jalapeños as well as the Calabrian chili emulsion. As ordering by the slice limits one's topping options, I was quite happy with the jalapeños; they added a sharp flavor contrast without ruining the fundamentals. The chili emulsion was a nice flavor, but more than I needed for the crusts of two slices; maybe save those dippers for when you order a whole pie. Ordering a Brussels sprout salad was a wise decision; my shaved sprouts contrasted well with the apples and cheese and were worthy of skipping out on another slice (or a bowl of ice cream). It's a bit of a hike to get to Pizza Delicious, so us Uptown folks can now get a quality pie without having to travel, which is a welcome development.

Yelp
Long over due for this review. Let me start by saying the food is delicious, the staff is so attentive and they've always given their best choice when we were in between decisions. Easily my top 3 favorite pizzas in Nola - and that says a lot as I'm from New Jersey. Pizza is our love language. Try to get a seat at the window. Pop by martins wine cellar on your way and hit up the ice cream shop next door afterwards. Such a great location!
google avatar

Maria F.

Yelp
This is absolutely the best Pizza I have ever tasted. The owner is always there working and making sure everyone is running smoothly. I ordered the "Bye Felicia" which has red sauce, mozzarella, ricotta, cup pepperoni, ricotta and hot honey. What a surprise in your mouth combination. The cupped pepperoni are filled with the hot honey and the combination of all these ingredients make this a delicious pizza. The crust is done just right. Not to thick. Not too thin. I also ordered the shaved Brussel salad which included honey crisp apples, Asiago, pistachio and Italian dressing. This was so fresh and crisp. I never enjoyed a salad so much. You can also order additional side of hot honey, ranch, chili emulsion, ranch etc. I can't wait to go back again. This was a home run!!!

Yelp
Great pizza! We ordered the "bye Felicia" well done. It was so good, we're on the way to get more pies today. This saids a lot for it, less than 24 hrs and we want to pie again. (Party of 4)
