The 19 Best Restaurants in Cairo, Egypt | Eater

"With two well-placed branches, Zeeyara offers travelers the opportunity to dine in highly prized settings. One has a great view of the Giza Pyramids, but check out the one on the must-visit Moezz Street, where the hustle and bustle of historic Cairo come to life. The thoughtful menu features rich flavors that cater to every palate. For meat lovers, the Auzy Zeeyara, a platter of tender lamb meat served with spiced rice and nuts, is a great choice, though the garlicky borghol camel meatballs with butter sauce are also worth a shot. Vegetarians should opt for the herby bessara, a fava bean paste starring coriander and topped with fried onions, perfect for dipping with baladi bread. The rocca salad features local arugula, tomatoes, basterma (cured beef), woven Syrian cheese, and onions with a sweet and tangy pomegranate molasses vinaigrette, though the kitchen can make it vegetarian as well. For dessert, don’t miss out on the date tart with pistachio, ideally paired with some mint tea. Reservations are recommended and can easily be made through Le Riad Hotel de Charme’s website or with a quick phone call." - Laila Hassaballa

I loved this place. When we entered we were told it is fully booked although most tables were empty. When we were about to leave they kindly offered a table outside which is what we wanted. Entire night most tables outside were empty but may be this is normal in Egypt . Food was great and delicious. I had the minced meat and my wife had lamb with rice. Service was ok. Views were stunning and overall a pleasant experience

Quite pricey, but definitely a good place. Unfortunately the breakfast ends way too soon. We arrived a little after 11 and it was already over. Anyway the food was really good. The place is on the roof, so there is a nice view over the streets.

This restaurant is conveniently located near the famous bazaar and sits on the top floor of a hotel. While it promises a city view, you can only enjoy it during daylight hours. In the evening, the view is mostly limited to the rooftops of nearby restaurants. The food is generally tasty, although dishes made with pigeon are an acquired taste. The pigeon soup has a rather strange smell, possibly due to the spices used. The duck pie was excellent, but the stuffed pigeon dish was disappointing – there was hardly any meat, just a lot of rice. However, the salad was enjoyable. Since alcohol regulations are strict in this country, it was nice to see that the restaurant offers non-alcoholic beer, Birelli, which was refreshing. Overall, it’s a pleasant place, though the prices are noticeably above the market average.

I am delighted! The interior, the staff, the food!! It's beautiful and so authentic. In the very heart of the old city. And what a beautiful sunset here!! the prices are moderate and there are vegetarian dishes. Although falafel is not on the menu, they made it for us and it was perfect! Super! 5 stars!
