Zeke's Coffee of DC - Downtown

Google
This location is right across from the Lafayette Square. The coffee here is pretty good. There is only cookies and oak bars, and you need to ask to get you drink in real cup (meaning non-paper cup). I wanted to give 5 stars for the coffee itself, but realized that there is not too much of food here, with subpar service, and a tiny store. With all three items I put as four stars, it not justifiable to give 5 Stars overall.

swissguyflying

Google
Ordered flat white and latte. A bit disappointed. Foam for both was too rough, probably because it was prepared too hot, which makes the foam rough and not as smooth silky. No proper latte art. 4 stars is generous. Staff not overly friendly but efficient and quick, maybe that's why the quality doesn't follow? Try it for yourselves.

Google
Excellent choice if you really want quality coffee and just the right blends to turn that wonderful frown upsidedown! Dedicated and passionate staff committed to your coffee experience. This isn't your ordinary coffee excursion, but an extradinary and whimsical coffee journey for the most basic to complex coffee excursion! They offer the finest, most thoughtful curated bean selection I have yet to see anywhere else around town! It's so worth the trek if you're a coffee lover or even if you just need a quick cup of joe. If you want to really engage all of the senses head over to this culinary delight! Your journey begins the moment you open the door, where you're greeted with the most exquisite smells, sensations, tastes, warmth, and aromas! You will just not regret one minute of this, folks. Go now and snag a cup if you still can!

I always stop by here at this coffee shop to get my latte and sometimes coffee or matcha. I tried them all. The staff is super nice always. Very attentive and fast. Raisa is the best. She is always very helpful and explaining. The location is super convenient. If you are near White House just grab your drink here and enjoy walking down. They are on 15 th Nw and H.

Google
Stopped by Zeke’s near the White House and had an Americano and a pain au chocolat and both were excellent. The Americano was smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced, while the pastry was fresh and flaky. The staff were friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. It’s a cozy spot with a great local vibe, ideal for a quick coffee or a relaxed break. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in D.C.!

Google
A cozy, small coffee cafe with tasty menu items chalked up on a wall and a diverse section of coffee easily displayed. Zeke is a sweet spot to huddle into with friends and grab a quick cup of coffee before or after strolling through D.C.’s greatest sights to see. There is a bar sitting section inside (which only fits two to three), as well as small group tables inside, and outside. *There is a single-person, customer only restroom inside as well.

Google
The best hot mocha I have ever had in my life. Small café experience with the most amazing coffee I’ve ever had in the whole country. Just around the corner from the White House. Couldn’t be better location.

Suood A.

Google
I recently visited this coffee shop and had a lovely experience overall. The coffee was exceptional, rich and flavorful, hitting all the right notes. The croissants were also a standout—fluffy, light, and completely irresistible. I ended up ordering two, as they were just too good to pass up! However, there are a couple of areas where I think they could improve. First, the floor could really use a cleaning chemical or soap—it felt a bit sticky in spots, which took away from the otherwise pleasant atmosphere. Second, while the employees were polite and greeted me, they seemed a little serious and didn’t smile much. A little warmth in their interactions could go a long way in making the experience even more inviting. All in all, great coffee and pastries, but a couple of small improvements would elevate the place even further!

Yelp
love the seasonal lattes at this place! just had a delicious peppermint bark mocha with oat milk... tis the season!!

Yelp
Been at this cafe many times and all times I got pleased with the staff and the drinks. The manager - Raisa- is the nicest and she makes great drinks. Ambiance is very nice. Couple tables inside and outside too. I always get my latte on thursdays. Tried their mocha / latte and different varieties of tea.

Yelp
The barista was super sweet and fast! I asked for my drink to be a little stronger and she added a lil extra espresso and less oat-milk. It was so yummy and my only regret was not asking for it to be a little sweeter. Definitely a good option in downtown.
google avatar

gary g.

Yelp
Dark roast beans. Not for me. No latte art either. NOT FOR COFFEE SNOBS! This is more for Starbucks lovers
google avatar

Ann S.

Yelp
Very close to the White House. Busy spot on A Saturday morning. Wonderful coffee and a decent croissant.
google avatar

Kristi W.

Yelp
Exploring the area and stumbled upon this coffee shop. The service was fast and friendly and pricing was actually pretty good considering that it's a block away from the White House. I let the barista pick my seasonal coffee. Horchata. It was delish! I grabbed an empanadas, too! That was devoured within a block. So good! The shop is small but there is seating available inside and out. I will definitely be back again to try other menu items!

Yelp
This was a good place to get coffee on the way to the national mall! It's not too far from it, but it does not feel overly touristy. The atmosphere was on par with many other coffee shops, and the staff was fast, even with the long lines. We were in and out in about five minutes. The cold brew was very good, I'll likely go back.

Yelp
Zekes has my heart. Always shows up with organic coffee for me at my local farmers market.... In case I don't make it out... it's easy to find at my local Moms Market. But this my friends. I could order a latte, from Zekes, and pick up my bags of coffee!!! I didn't even know they had cafes. Oh the joy on my face when I drove by and say those magical words spell out Zekes on the window!!! Unfortunately I don't live close enough to go every day. Which is good way to save money. But I will continue to make my Zekes coffee everyday, and whenever I am in the area, I will grab a coffee here!!
google avatar

Vanessa T.

Yelp
This place is in the heart of downtown and is very busy! It is a small shop but there are a few seats. Definitely recommend this place if you are in the area and need a quick coffee and great pastries!
google avatar

Clara S.

Yelp
Super cozy cafe in downtown DC! Service was fast and friendly. I got the honey lavender latte and it was not too sweet, just the way I like it!
google avatar

Gloria Z.

Yelp
I don't understand the hype of Zeke's. They had three options for their drip coffee (light, medium, dark roast, and I got a light roast. It came out looking like the darkest roast I have ever seen. Not sure if they accidentally gave me the wrong cup, but it ended up tasting like a McDonalds or hotel coffee.
google avatar

Yelp
This coffee shop had a line outside the door with a bunch of locals. That's how I knew this shop would be good. I ordered a large Iced Vanilla Oat Milk Latte which was very smooth and delightful. The best part was that they offer a 24oz size which is exactly what I needed for my work day. Cheers!

Barbara S.

Yelp
Absolutely my new favorite coffee spot. I recently discovered their coffee at a farmers market and I have been amazed with the quality. I stopped by this dc location and had to pick up more beans! While I was there I tried the honey bee lavender iced coffee and I am in love with it. Not too sweet and it doesn't have that bitter taste I get with some other ice coffees I have tried. Definitely worth checking them out.
google avatar

Laura H.

Yelp
My favorite coffee place in DC! And unfortunately I've become addicted to their cold brew. It's strong but not bitter, and it's quick to order because you usually don't have to wait behind the other latte and specialty drink orders if you order a cold brew. Their flavored lattes are also amazing and thankfully not too sweet! Although if you do prefer sweet drinks, I'm sure they would accommodate. The staff are always friendly and available to answer questions. There's indoor and outdoor seating options if you're not taking your coffee to go. Only downside is that the line can be a bit long in the morning because it is very popular!
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
update after a few more visits - coffee here still isn't great, the drinks are always on the bitter/burnt tasting side. price is good though especially for location. the other zekes locations are much better for whatever reason, both for espresso and for drip. and only the 14th st location does pour overs

Tiffany K.

Yelp
Delicious & friendly service. I ordered a Vanilla Latte and it was so good. Definitely a cute coffee shop to stop in while walking around town.
google avatar

Orest S.

Yelp
One of my favourite coffee shops in the downtown. The coffee is good and personnel is very kind and nice. Just a few tables inside, but it is very cozy.
google avatar

Dom G.

Yelp
Was able to try the cold brew at the Dupont Farmers Market. It was well balanced and gave me the caffeine jolt I needed. The staff at the market were ok but def could have been more friendly. Would try it again if I was in town at one of the cafe locations to feel the overall vibe.

Yelp
We rocked in at 4:58 and Marissa, the barista, looked at us with eyes that only those of us in retail know: I was just about to close and you walked in! I knew that look and asked if she'd already cleaned the machine. She said no. I knew our orders would be fast: all espresso drinks without too much fuss. She smiled and took our orders and two more people walked in! She told them she could take their order but they would have to take their drinks "to go" and that was a subtle way to tell us we couldn't stay either. That was fine as we were bundled up and just grabbed seats outside to enjoy our drinks before heading out. Thanks to Marissa for being friendly even when she could have called it a day and no one would have fussed. :-)

Yelp
Good coffee shop stop near the WH. But the prices and the cramped room, lack of tables/chairs, etc., has ya wanting better. Baristas were friendly. Coffee tasted ok. Just not a big fan.

Yelp
Great price, hot coffee and quality service. Definitely check out Zeke's when visiting the White House. I'm about to go stroll by and enjoy my coffee. I've been wanting to try Zekes for a hot min and after seeing them at a farmers market, I decided to make the walk one morning to get my steps, grab a coffee, and get some beans to make cold brew. I also love their story and the fact that they're local. Rolled up at 7:41 am (praise they open at 7am) and they weren't too busy. After looking at their nice selection of beans, I settled on the seasonal Night of the Living Blend. When chatting with the barista if they're ground or not, she asked what I'll be doing with my beans and suggested to grind them corse for my cold brew and did it for me! TSYM cause I do not have a bean grinder lol. I was considering to do some work for a bit in their little seating area but decided not too. It is a nice little area if you're just stopping for a short coffee and snack break from walking all day lol.

Yelp
I had a large cold brew today at Zeke's pop up at the DuPont circle farmers market. I was highly impressed by how quickly I was served- it was like the Chick-fil-A of coffee!! There were not tons of options, but I appreciate this was at a farmers market and offering more things like lattes, cappuccinos, etc was not feasible. At the farmers market, they have a wide variety of milks/ creamers (including oat milk) and simple syrup available for you to prepare the coffee as you wish. It was $6 for a large, and it was LARGE indeed! All in all, the pop-up tent version of Zeke's has convinced me I need to come to their brick and mortar location. I'm looking forward to that day, whenever it comes.

Yelp
Yum this coffee was so good and strong. I got the cinnamon maple oat latte and it was so creamy from the oat milk and perfectly sweet. It was hard not to chug it. The coffee itself was very good and wasn't too strong and didn't taste burnt. My partner got the nitro cold brew. Conversely it was extremely strong with a lot of caffeine and bitter, which some may prefer. The staff was super nice and there was a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating for the size of the shop.

Yelp
We were in town for a few days and explored several coffee spots, Zeke's was by far the best! We loved it so much that we went twice during our stay. The baristas are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Zeke's offers a nice variety of whole bean coffee for sale, a good selection of breakfast foods and pastries. We tried their iced caramel latte and iced mocha latte - both were perfect and reasonably priced. Our breakfast choices were equally impressive: the maple bacon & egg sandwich, green chili breakfast burrito, and almond croissant were all delicious, served hot, and fast. If you find yourself in town, make sure to stop by Zeke's. It's a gem you don't want to miss!

Yelp
Nice cup of ice coffee. Got the authentic coffee shop vibes. Staff was super nice and knew their stuff.
google avatar

Austin P.

Yelp
This was very close to my hotel and got great reviews, so I stopped for a decaf cappuccino with almond milk. The prices seemed reasonable (a small was only $4 and they didn't charge extra for almond milk) and the coffee tasted great! The pastries also looked good, but none of them were marked as dairy free.
google avatar

Ahad D.

Yelp
Local, crafted, and off the scale with flavor. I've had a wide variety of beans in different brews, their honey vanilla (spiced) latte was a perfect blend of flavors. Compliments to the brewmaster for that daily special, because it added the mojo for a memorable trip the Smithsonian.
google avatar

Kerwin T.

Yelp
Location has good vibes! Coffee in my opinion a bit better than startbucks. I had cortado, the espresso in my opinion doesnt bring much notes to me but compared to a roaster in the area Zeke's better and i could see coffee now over roasted. I believe theyre using robusta blend I will try the roasted espresso blend. PS they didnt indicate roast date and considering a Micro roaster they would be proud and a prerequisite to indicate a roast date
google avatar

Annie S.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop close to the White House / National Mall. My friend comes here often and loves their lattes. I tried the iced chai latte and it was very delicious. There is minimal seating inside and and outside, so I wouldn't always count on getting a seat.
google avatar

mark y.

Yelp
I had high hopes for zeke's but when I saw the barista carelessly tamp the espresso, steaming the milk and pouring the contents into the espresso, multiple times over, I didn't think a flat white was the way to go. I ordered their brewed medium, which tasted more like a dark roast. Fortunately the coffee is not burnt like Starbucks but it's just without the subtleties that make medium roasts enjoyable. It was busy and if you are seeking a caffeine fix, and like dark roasts, then zeke's will be your thing.
google avatar

Anushka M.

Yelp
Good spot to quickly grab coffee, not really meant to sit and do work. It's a small space with some window seats and a small table for 2 people. They do have Wi-Fi, but with limited seating it's not ideal. Drink wise they have the standard menu of coffee, espresso and lattes. Their specialty drink was a honey maple latte which I tried iced. It was good and a good balance of sweet. I prefer more specialty drinks on the menu to choose from but that's just personal preference. What I ordered was satisfying and it was quick service. It's walking distance from the White House so this is a good spot for tourists who are looking to try something local.
google avatar

Ash C.

Yelp
Zeke is 10/10 and a short walk for me so this is the coffee shop I frequent the most. Not only superb coffee but they also offer some pretty legit baked goods. My favorite is the almond croissant. If you are feeling healthy, they also offer gluten free/vegan bars (I tried the oats chocolate bar which was good but too sweet for my taste) and other healthy snackys like chia seed puddings and yogurts (I tried the mango chia seed pudding which was yummo). I usually go for the cappuccino, oat milk latte or iced mocha (depending on my mood) and they never disappoint!
google avatar

Hunter B.

Yelp
A small coffee shop but decided to check it out. I got one of the seasonal cinnamon maple oat latte. The latte was good but also super sweet where at that point I'm unsure if there's actual espresso in there. The wait overall was not that bad. If you are a fan of the sweeter lattes then this place is probably a good place to check out.

Mara B.

Yelp
Baristas were rude and had an unnecessary attitude. Not what I was looking for when trying to get my mid afternoon pick me up!
google avatar

Paul W.

Yelp
Great coffee at a good price. Pastries are fresh. Chill vibe. Ended up back there a bunch on my vacation. If I'm ever back in DC, I'll be back at Zeke's too
google avatar

Phoebe D.

Yelp
Great value coffee in Downtown DC! I got a horchata latte which was decent - I don't think there was much of a flavor difference from a regular latte aside from a slight thickness which I wasn't a huge fan of. Next time I would probably just opt for a regular iced vanilla latte. But for $6 for 24oz right near the White House I thought it was great quality for the value!
google avatar

Grace N.

Yelp
Great coffee tucked away between beautiful historical buildings! My coworkers and I got Zeke twice on our morning walk from hotel to the RRB and we loved their coffee. Very strong and flavorful. Their specials are on the sweeter side so I would ask them to tone it down if you're not keen to sweet like me. Otherwise, staff was friendly, the place was cute, and the coffee was yummy!
google avatar

Alexa S.

Yelp
I went for a quick drink run before work looking for a hot tea. They had a long menu describing the flavors, so many looked good so I asked the barista for a recommendation and she provided me with a caffeinated and caffeine free recommendation. I ended up getting the cinnamon orange black tea. It had so much flavor without needing sugar. When they gave me the drink they recommended waiting about 3 minutes before drinking to give it time to steep.

Cynthia D.

Yelp
I typically purchase 10 bags to take home to San Francisco when I come to DC on business.
google avatar

Annet O.

Yelp
Came here to try coffee because our dogs name is Zeke haha. Excellent latte. We ordered vanilla latte with oat milk and was perfect. Not too sweet and just strong enough!
google avatar

Eiley F.

Yelp
Very affordable drink and food items for DC. I noticed that they filled the cups to the top and didn't skimp on the quantity of the drink despite adding ice. Great selection of locally roasted beans. The service is quick, and each barista was very helpful with my questions on coffee (I tried one of the seasonal lattes). Special shoutout to the chai; it tasted well spiced and din't compromise on tea flavor.
google avatar

Josh D.

Yelp
Awesome! The monkey bread and all of our coffees were great! We had lattes, americanos, and a cortado.
google avatar

Christina L.

Yelp
Service is wonderful. Quite and quaint little coffee shop. Almond croissant was fresh and not too sweet. Skim latte was great!

Yelp
Zeke's, I love you! We stayed in the Sofitel hotel up the road and walked in when they opened. I know I'm in a different town but there are a few requirements when I travel: No coffee chain$. I work & live in a very strange place. Everyone has bought into the chain coffee places. I hate it but it is what it is. When I travel out of Long Island I leave theses places and search for a coffeehouse that roasts their own beans. A purveyor who knows how to properly serve their products. They must accommodate coffeehouse hours. I'm up early and want my coffee. I was met by a cheerful and knowledgeable counter person on our visit when they first opened. There must be tasty treats! Zeke's delivered on all my requirements. They properly roast their coffee and it tasted amazing. I bought a pound of beans to take home. I grabbed my coffee and sat. I'm looking at the wall of coffee, all of a sudden it opens and people walk inside the cafe? I said, what is this, a Harry Potter portal? We all laughed. They also served something for breakfast, a bun stuffed with egg and chorizo. Soooo good! Zeke's, you did coffee proud. Keep roastin'!
google avatar

Runzer W.

Yelp
The environment was pretty good inside with lively music. The service was great too! I ordered a cup of iced latte with oat milk. In my opinion, the flavor of oat milk seemed to exceed the bitterness of coffee, which appeared to be a little pity for me. But it was good in the whole!

Rob R.

Yelp
Coffee is terrible, latte is terrible with no attempt at latte art, both have no flavor. Fresh roasted bags of beans have no roast date on them. Save yourself and visit better coffee shops around the area!
google avatar

Austin G.

Yelp
It's said Zeke's Coffee is a local coffee roastery, but it's originally from Baltimore and now owns two stores in the city of DC. Only 45 minutes away from DC, I'll give them the local stamp. Best coffee in DC stamp? Not yet. Zeke's roasts their own beans and now brews it at their first downtown DC location. They have drip coffee, lattes, cold brew, and more. I stopped in for a nitrobrew and it was good. I find their beans to be a bit more dark than other coffee shops in DC, but it's still not bad. However, if you want the best coffee in DC, head to Swings a few blocks away or The Coffee Bar or Peregrine north of Zeke's. Still Zeke's is a worthy contender in the DC coffee shop scene and I'm glad they are here. Grab a cup and pastry and enjoy the outdoor seating!
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
It's a nice coffee shop. The coffee is good. The place is a tiny bit cheaper and more comfortable than the average Starbucks. Most of the staff is friendly and helpful.

Luna B.

Yelp
i went here on my trip to d. c. last week and the coffee doesn't disappoint. for my liking the coffee wasn't too strong. the ice latte i got was delicious. not too sweet, with the flavors beautifully balancing out each other. no over power of flavors. good price too! Also the service was great. sweet cashier and fast service !
